Chapter 9: Tokajin
“…” Talking
‘…’ Thinking
Kagome was telling InuYasha that she needed to go home for three days to study for some tests. Then, Sango was telling him that she needed to go back to the slayer village to fix up her Hiraikotsu. ‘Wait a minute,’ I thought to myself, ‘this is just like that episode of InuYasha: Fateful Night in Togenkyo, Part One.’ My thoughts were confirmed when after Sango left, Kagome found the human faced fruit in the river and, not long after, InuYasha found the demon tree on top of the cliff.
When we were all on top of the cliff, we split up. I, for some strange reason, ended up going alone. I soon met up with Tokajin, and he looked at me strangely for a second, and then I started growling when he said, “You’ll make a fine fertilizer for my demon tree.” Once he pulled out his gourd I was sure that the fear was showing in my eyes while he opened it. ‘Shit!’ I thought as it pulled me in.
I wasn’t surprised to see InuYasha in his human state, holding out Tetsusaiga’s sheath. ‘Apparently, he doesn’t know I’m here.’ I thought. I jumped back when I saw a sword plunge through the side of the gourd. It then started moving like someone was trying to pull it out. Like InuYasha, I fell out of the gourd with all of the purple acidic liquid, but unlike him I didn’t grow back to normal size. I was still 5 inches tall! InuYasha finally noticed me and made to pick me up, but Tokajin picked me up harshly. ‘Now he decides to notice me! Kami he’s an idiot. Actually, all men are idiots.’ I thought. And with that, he put me in a pouch around his waist. There was some kind of herb in there, and it started slowly taking away all of my energy. I realized that if I stayed in here too long, there’s gonna be a dead Saiyin and a really sad Vegeta.
I felt Tokajin walk into another room, and I soon felt Vegeta’s ki come into the room. I could tell that he knew that I was in here though he could not see me. “Where is she?” I heard him ask, his temper rising. “Who,” I heard Tokajin ask. “Oh, you mean the monkey.” I heard Vegeta growl at this, and Tokajin roughly pulled me out of the pouch, enclosed in his fist. “She’s right here.” He opened up his fist showing a very weak me. He suddenly clenched his fist around me, with only my head and shoulders visible. He started squeezing me, and I closed my eyes tightly and clenched my teeth in pain. I whimpered, and Vegeta came a couple of steps closer to me and Tokajin, rage evident in his aura, and on his face. Tokajin then squeezed me even harder, and I fought to stay conscious. Apparently, Vegeta didn’t see his fist tighten (the idiot), because he came another couple of steps forward after I whimpered again and, if possible, Tokajin squeezed me even harder. Then, I heard a small crack and my ribs felt like they were on fire. *Vegeta* I said painfully through our bond. He immediately stopped and looked at me, his gaze softening. *Stop coming closer* *Why* he asked, obviously confused. *Because, if you haven’t noticed, the closer you get, the tighter his fist gets. And to top it all off, I think he broke one of my ribs* He then sent a glare at Tokajin that could make Hell freeze over. Twice. Tokajin then walked over to one of the many clay pots in the room. He took of the lid, threw me roughly into it (Ow.) and said, “The only one who can take the lid off, is the one who is alive at the end.”
I saw the lid slam down and I was thrown into complete darkness. My eyes quickly adjusted, but there was nothing in the pot to see. I carefully touched my ribs and quickly removed my hand, wincing in tremendous pain. I could hear the muffled sounds of fighting, and I could sense that Tokajin was winning. (Boo! He sucks!) I carefully stood on my feet thinking, ‘Thank Kami Vegeta came in, and that I got out when I did, or I’d be dead.’ I could smell the blood of my mate, and it was strong even through the clay of the pot. ‘Vegeta can’t die. He’s got strength because he’s protecting me, protecting us . . .even if he doesn’t know it.’ I thought putting my hand on my stomach. ‘Besides, his Saiyin pride makes him as stubborn as a mule.’ I thought that last part with a small smile on my face. I fell on my knees deciding to save what little strength I had left.
Awhile later, the sounds of fighting stopped. The smell of blood was so thick, that I had to cover my sensitive nose. I looked up when the lid came off, and I blinked a couple of times while my eyes adjusted to the sudden light. I saw a gloved hand come down and gently pick me up, saying that Vegeta had won. He brought me up to his eye level, and a look of worry crossed his face when he saw my condition. When I saw his expression I said, “Don’t worry Vegeta. I’ll be fine after I get some rest.” He gave me a look saying that he didn’t believe a word I had said, but he carefully put me on his shoulder and we left to go find the others.
It was the night after the fight with Tokajin, and everyone was asleep except for me and Vegeta. I had decided earlier that I wouldn’t fall asleep. It’s not that I don’t feel safe around Vegeta, because I do. There’s just something about his scent that calmed me down . . . . Well anyway, it’s the fact that I’m still only 5 inches tall! (Plus my pain was keeping me awake.) Vegeta was sitting up against the tree with one leg bent against his chest. I could tell that he was staring at me out of the corner of my eyes. I also knew that he could tell that I was tired and that I was fighting off sleep. I heard him mentally sigh through our bond and he picked me gently off of his shoulder. I had a confused look on my face, but all he did was place me on the ground. I was very confused, until he wrapped the end of his tail around me carefully since I hadn’t fully healed. I snuggled into it and almost instantly fell asleep.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
It was a couple of days after Vegeta had killed Tokajin, and I was completely healed, thanks to me and Kagome’s healing powers. The rest of the group and I had sensed a demon, so Vegeta was now in a clearing facing off against an ugly and smelly pig youkai with a sword. Apparently, Vegeta had forgotten all about me because I was still on his shoulder. They started fighting, and soon after the demon tried to cut his head with the sword. I didn’t get out of the way in time, and I felt a huge pain in my cheek. I was losing a lot of blood and the gash was huge, but Vegeta still didn’t notice me. He just kept on fighting with the baka youkai while I had my hand on the wound. When he did finally look over at me, his eyes widened. I must have looked really bad, because now he was really pissed off. He threw a really powerful ki blast at the demon, and it disintegrated. Suddenly, I started growing, so Vegeta carefully placed me on the ground in front of him. Once I was back to my normal size, I fell back from the loss of blood. He caught me and sat down with me in his lap. Then his Saiyin instincts kicked in and he started licking my wound as I fell into a dreamless sleep.
