Chapter 2: The Shards
Disclaimer: I do not own DBZ or Inuyasha
After everyone has introduced themselves to each other, the Saiyans, the two women, a monk, a half dog demon, and a little fox demon go on there journey to the shards.
"Hey everyone I found this on that guys hand," stated Gohan as he revealed a pink jewel in his hand.
The gang rushed over to the teen and crowded around him. Inuyasha especially wanted to get a close view of the shard that the guy took from Sesshoumaru. It was a small piece, about the length twice that of a fingernail, a little thicker than a piece of paper, and as wide as a baby's finger.
Kagome took the shard in her hand. She looked at it as it glowed with that same light that glowed when the five males entered the timeline Then as the shard lifted slightly into the air, the color changed. It changed from that deep pink into a light, almost white pink color. The crystal piece then slowly dropped into Kagome's hands.
"Gohan...you found this shard now keep it safe okay," she smiled as she placed the now purified gem piece onto his hand. Gohan looked at the object for a few minutes and then puts it into his pocket.
Inuyasha meanwhile was furious with what just took place. He looked on as it happened and couldn't help but question why in his mind.
"Why did you give that shard to that bastard?!?" Inuyasha flat out yelled at Kagome.
Vegeta looked on as he yelled at her and he interrupted with this.
"She thought it would be a whole lot safer with Gohan, doggie boy."
Inuyasha turned around to the shortest of the adults in the group with the pine cone hair. He walked up to the man and pressed his face against his. Both Saiyan and hanyou were nose to nose as they looked at each other with intense anger. Vegeta had on an evil smirk, knowing that his remark struck a nerve in the young minded creature. The two of them just stared as if any moment now they could just tear each other apart. But......
Kagome sensed something.
"Hey Kagome do you feel another jewel shard?" asked Sango hurriedly.
"Yes I feel a jewel shard....it's in the next village about 50 miles from here." the reincarnation replied.
'Great 50 miles...I can cover it in great time,' Inuyasha thought after he heard what Kagome said.
Goku started thinking his hand clasped to his chin. He thought to himself about the situation they were in. When it came to human subjects he was less than average in knowledge.
'Kakkarot's thinking....this is a rarity,' thought Vegeta to himself watching his friend/rival pondering.
Then an idea sparked inside his head.
"I got a question....what are those crystals for?" Goku asked with a serious tone in his voice. Kagome heard his question and just looked at him.
"Ok who is going to explain to who about the jewel shards?" asked Inuyasha, obviously annoyed by the lack of knowledge of the jewel shards.
"I got Goku and Vegeta," proclaimed Kagome.
"I have Gohan, Trunks, and Goten," Sango called.
Inuyasha was relieved......eventhough he will be the last to admit it he had it bad for Kagome. He really liked her and her not explaining the concept to Gohan kinda lifted a small burden from his shoulders.
"We will explain it to you after we find the Shikon shards," Sango said to everyone. "Now how will we get to the village."
Miroku heard her and saw this opportunity to come in and say his piece.
"Did you people noticed something when Gohan fought Sesshoumaru?" asked Miroku as if he knew the answer.
Something immediately clicked in the only one of the group with demon blood.
"He can fly," Inuyasha interjected. " Can the other people with you fly as well?" he asked to Gohan. The other Saiyans nodded.
"Well then there's our answer Sango," smiled Kagome.
Sango pondered this for a minute. People that can fly.....could they be demons, or something else entirely.
"Hey Goku....would you mind if you flew me over to the place I sensed the shard?" bowed Kagome politely to the wild haired saiyan.
Goku nodded and squatted down so that Kagome could get on.
Sango ran up to Gohan and smiled as she asked him to fly her to the village. He bent down and let her climb up on his back.
'Kirala needs a rest,' she reasoned to herself as she got onto his back. The little white furred red eyed cat creature ran up his back and went into Sango's white and flowery kimono.
Goten picked up Miroku and lifted up in the air, much to Miroku's surprise as he was kicking and screaming while Goten lifted him higher into the air.
Shippo was picked up by Trunks and carried into the air as well.
That just left Inuyasha and Vegeta.
"Feh, I'm not riding his back," snorted Inuyasha, "I can run fast enough."
"Fine....but I think Kagome will be fine with Kakarot....all alone," he hautingly spoke back towards Inuyasha.
The doggie demon immediately climbed onto Vegeta's back and held on.
"Well c'mon off to the skies shorty!!," yelled the hanyou in his ear. Vegeta promptly dropped him on his rear end.
"If you want to fly then I'm carrying you with my arms, not on my back," Vegeta said matter of factly.
"You better not imply what I think you are implying, but I don't swing that way!" huffed Inuyasha.
Kagome had enough of this bickering between the Saiyan Prince and the half demon with the ego from hell.
"Just let Vegeta fly you Inuyasha," she growled at him, "don't make me use that command."
Inuyasha lifted up his arms and Vegeta tooked him up and into the air.
All of the arrangements were made and the crew was about to fly. The rush of air that came from taking off hit all of there faces as they levitated higher and higher. Then with one small push of ki they took off into the sky.

Sango laid onto the teenagers back and laid her head down onto his shoulder. She felt Gohan's muscles as she held on tightly. She couldn't help but think about his physique slightly as they flew, and how Gohan was steady as a rock.
"Gohan how did you learn how to do this," she asked him.
"We'll.......a friend of mine told me," he answered to her.
Sango wasn't satisfied with that answer but reasoned that he will tell her more after the business at hand was taken care of permanently.
The people continued to fly, the wind coming across there faces and the forest speeding below them. Inuyasha wasn't trying to struggle, to everyone's surprise, as he was held by Vegeta. Kagome looked over at Inuyasha with his scowl on his face as they were going along.
'Inuyasha looks in such deep thought....I wonder what he's thinking. I just hope that he can get along with these guys," thought Kagome to herself as she held on tightly to Goku, her arrows and bow on her back. Then she looked down and felt something in a village they were hovering over.
"That's it," she yelled. The group lowered themselves upon the village slowly and the villagers never seen the like. Five flying men they talked about coming down upon them. The people were gossiping to each other on what those five people were. Inuyasha sniffed for demons and sure enough.....
He smelled something coming this way. The smell of human blood hit his supersensitive nose and it was particularly strong with whatever was coming there way.
"Be on your guard," advised Inuyasha to everyone as the smell registered in his brain, hand on the hilt of his sword. The men's feet touched the ground and all the passengers got off of there respective Saiyans. Kagome could feel the source of the shard coming closer as many large, worm-like creatures came towards them.
The half dog demon came out and with his movements clawed about twenty of the worms coming toward them. A swarm of fourty went towards the two children, but were blasted away by the little Saiyan's ki blasts.
More of the worms came, but the source of the shard came toward them. It was a young boy with the same style outfit as Sango had on. The lady demon hunter gasped as the young boy came down off of his worm beast.
"Kohaku..." Sango shouted at the boy. Gohan stood protectively by Sango as the boy looked on. Kohaku had an empty look in his eyes....as if he had been in a long sleep and is dazed.....like he was barely alive. Goku then flashed in front of the two of them.
"Son, you had your fight....now let your old man have a try," he smirked as he looked at the boy with the chain sickle. Goku and Kohaku looked each other in the eyes in a stoic stare showdown.
"Kohaku, return to me, there is no way you can beat those strangers," a voice called out, everyone could hear. One of the beasts flew downward towards him and the demon hunter boy hopped onto it and went up into the sky.
"Naraku, get your ass over here and fight!," Inuyasha called out to the voice.
"Now, now Inuyasha," Naraku reprimanded as he appeared about twenty feet in front of them all, "we will fight someday, but now I have other plans."
Naraku disappeared along with Kohaku out of the scene.
Sango sank to her knees. It was tearing her up inside that the monster in the white baboon coat could control such an innocent person, but it was much more...like there was a personal relationship she had with the boy, like he took part of herself with him.
The people looked at Sango, and Kagome ran to her.
"I-I thought he would have recovered from Naraku's enchantment by now....." Sango said as she wrapped her arms around her friend.
"I'm sure he will come around Sango don't worry," she comforted her as she embraced Sango.
'What is that boy to her.........she seemed so hurt when that boy was taken by Naraku', thought Gohan to himself as he watched her being comforted by Kagome.

Sango was sitting the nearby creek at the village staring out at the water. The cool breeze she could feel as the creek flowed through the small rocks. Her mind was questioning what was life. Thoughts of her brother being controlled by Naraku and why she should be there with the others at all....or going to where Naraku's hiding, whereever that is, and taking her brother back herself, no matter what it took for her to do so.
"Mind if I join you?" asked Gohan out of nowhere causing Sango to throw her boomerang out there. It just missed Gohan by about a few feet as he ducked to keep from getting hit.
"Don't surprise me like that!," she screamed at him. Gohan apologized really quickly, seeing the startled then angry look on her face.
Her face softened, she couldn't stay mad at such an apologetic face.
"Sango?" Gohan asked as he looked at her, "do you know the man that was going to attack us."
Sango knew that if they were gonna help the group she had to tell one of them about Kohaku eventually. She sat Gohan down and told him everything, Kohaku's death, what they were like as kids, and how he is now came to the conversation.
"Sango.....I had no idea.......shall I go now?" he asked her as he was about to leave.
Sango reached out and took Gohan's hand, then as her memories of the tragic events flooded her mind and her emotion began to build up and Gohan sat down.
She wrapped her arms around him and let the tears flow.
"Stay with me....at least for a little while," Sango cried onto his shoulder. Gohan, being the nice guy he was, wrapped his arms around Sango and comforted her, like a friend would do. Nothing else happened that night, but them talking to each other.
Gohan told her about the Saiyan race, and how the planet was destroyed by an evil overlord. Sango heard of the possibility of aliens from Kagome, who knew eggheads that liked Science-Fiction, but she never thought she would meet a half-alien....let alone one who looked so human.
'So he isn't totally human....I was right....but that doesn't matter for some reason,' thought Sango as she walked with her new friend Gohan.

*At an underground cave*
Naraku and Kohaku was near a huge egg like rock with veins all over it's gray surface and a strange looking "M" on the base where the egg stood upon. Then a young miko descended down into the cavern, she has straight black hair with a white ribbon on the back, her shirt was long sleeved, white and loose fitting, with a long red skirt and a big bow on her lower back.
"You will never beat those strangers alone," smiled the young priestess, her hazel eyes having that same mindless haze, only she had more of a free will to her than Kohaku.
"What do you suggest, Kikyo," scoffed the demon, who looked like a local lord of the time.
"My soul catchers tell me that a wizard of the stars will come and release the power of that egg," Kikyo said as she pointed to the stone egg that the boy was looking at, "and the demon to be released out of there will be stronger than anything this world has to offer, even the gods couldn't beat that demon they sealed."
"One of them sacrificed themselves so that the demon could be sealed.....this demon will be powerful indeed," smirked Naraku as he looked at Kikyo and then the rock.
What could come out of there could be powerful indeed.
