Chapter 3: Explanations

In the Cave

"Naraku, how did you know about the strength of the strangers," Kikyo questioned the demon. The monster stood there like a statue, and thought for a second. Should he reveal how he knew the power of the new arrivals to the woman, whom he killed 50 years ago? The alliance that he struck with her was new and he wanted to make sure that he didn't make any mistakes that he would regret later.

A young girl came out with white hair, white skin, and a white robe came in with a mirror. She put the mirror down so that the three others could look at it. Naraku waved his hand and there was a fight. The two fighters appeared, one was dominating the other and several bones could be heard broken.

"That's Sesshoumaru, and one of the strangers......no wonder Kohaku was called back when the strangers came," stated Kikyo.

"Yes, an look Kikyo, watch as he dismantles the dog demon like he was nothing more than a target," snorted Naraku as him and the undead priestess watched the fight.

Naraku watched the fight with intent. His eyes peared into the mirror.

'This boy that fights Sesshoumaru, I've never seen anyone dominate a fight like that, and it looked so easy, how can this be so?," questioned Naraku in his mind as he sat there.

" I wonder when the wizard from the stars will come?," she asked herself as she watched the final moments of the fight.

"Hopefully soon, Kulla put up the mirror," commanded the evil demon. She just nodded and carried it off with her as she walked away.

Kagome sat there in a circle around the campfire along with the rest of the group contemplating on what to do. They were to hike up the mountains in the morning, and she couldn't help but think of a young man that lived there. The man bothered her at times, but all and all, he was nice to her, but to Inuyasha......that's another story entirely. But another task was at hand........ how was she going to explain the jewel shards to the two older saiyans.

Sango had the same dilema about explaining it to Gohan. She's been silent towards him ever since they rejoined the group.

'Hmm, Sango sure is pretty in that pink kimono, I wonder why she is so quiet after we left the riverbank. She's an enigma to be sure and must have some fighting skill if she carries a gigantic boomerang,' thought Gohan to himself as he watched her.

'Why is he looking at me like that......I can't believe I just cried like a baby on his shoulders. He must do a lot of training because his arms were as hard as rocks. Something inside me says to trust him, like he could never do me wrong. But there is this hunger I've never felt before. It's like I'm attracted to him or something.

No, no, I can't be I just met him. Such things are for silly girls and not for me, a warrior that has serious issues to deal with', thought the female demon hunter to herself...or so she thought.

"Sango that's not true," Gohan said outloud. "Don't say things like that."

"Gohan I never said anything," Sango said in surprise, " and I'm glad you think I look pretty in my kimono, but that is no concern to me".

"I never said the sort,......wait a minute" said Gohan as he was about to figure this out. "Did we, just......hear each others thoughts."

Then Vegeta smiled as he said this.

"Yes, brat you did, you have some Saiyan instincts after all,"

'Saiyan Instincts,' thought Gohan to himself.

"Yes Gohan, Saiyan instincts...hey what do you mean by that?" asked Sango to Vegeta.

"Well, I will have to talk to you two alone," scoffed Vegeta, annoyed that Gohan didnt know what he was talking about. The three of them stood up and walked away from the campfire.

Inuyasha just watched the scene from a few feet away from the campfire, truth be told he didn't like being in a crowd.

'I wonder where those three are going,' groaned the hanyou to himself. Meanwhile a certain monk left the campfire to join him. Miroku walked over toward the demon boy and sat beside him with a smile on his face.

"I wonder why you didn't protest when Kagome mentioned telling them about the jewel shards?" he asked the silver haired one.

"Feh!, she would just make me 'sit' over and over and blab to them any damn way," explained Inuyasha, in his normal, unfriendly way.

"Kagome must have you on a leash huh Inuyasha," Miroku joked towards his fellow male.

"You take that back monk!!, Or else I jam Tetsuiga up your ass!!" blared the half-demon in anger.

"Inuyasha take it easy, I was joking," Miroku retorted with a nervous laugh, not wanting the sword up his rear end.

The threesome that left the campfire went away where no one could hear them. Stepping normally, they walked through the woods until they were sure they were a good distance away from the area where the others were. Then, Vegeta came to a sudden halt and turned around to face Gohan and Sango.

"Gohan, Sango sit down on that log!!" he barked at the two of them. The pair did what he said and sat down.

"Now what I am about to tell you two will change your two lives forever," Vegeta said in an almost fatherly tone, or as fatherly as an arrogant prince of a dead race could muster.

"Vegeta, just say it please," smiled Gohan.

"What is it that is so important that you pulled us from the group?" asked Sango demandingly.

"Be patient you rats!! I'm getting to the point!!" blared Vegeta toward the two of them, which earned stares from the two of them, hoping that he hasn't went insane.

The Prince of Saiyans put his hand to his mouth and cleared his throat. Saying something of this magnitude wasn't easy, even for the heir to a dead civilization.

"Gohan, you and Sango have started the ultimate saiyan bond......the mating bond," he simply stated toward the two of them. The two of them stared at him with the widest eyes they could have mustered and looked at each other.

"M-mating," both seemed to stutter at the same time.

"Yes you baka's mating, Saiyan's are closer to there instincts than humans, and the ability to read each others minds is the first step. The final step.....well is the actual mating itself. The closer to the full moon it gets the more irresistable you will seem towards each other. There is no way of fighting it, just give in to your urges on that night of the full moon." Vegeta said and then the closer to the last part he came, the wider his smirk became.

Sango and Gohan stared at each other for a while, not knowing what to think, or to do next. They just looked at each other for a while. Then....

"I won't let some weird bonding thing influence me, watch me beat this thing," Sango seriously said to Vegeta, who just scoffed in response. He then in a 180 turned his back upon the demon hunter and the oldest son of his rival/friend.

'That's what they all say demon hunter, but the closer you get, the more you will want to surrender to your instincts, I promised you two will not regret it,' Vegeta thought as he walked away from the other two. Gohan and Sango followed suit.

At the campfire

" I see Vegeta, Gohan and Sango," Goku said to the schoolgirl Kagome as they walked back into camp. Vegeta just walked in and sat down, while Gohan sat on a log in deep thought, and Sango sat down with her arms crossed. Kagome, seeing that Sango didn't want to talk, decided to speak up.

"Guys, since I don't think Sango wants to speak, I guess I will explain to you all why we are after the jewel shards," Kagome announced to everyone, even Inuyasha was at the campfire.

"Now....I entered this world the same as you guys, or the people from my time over there entered, through the well. Only I found out that I had a sacred jewel on me and I didn't even know it. Well when I ended up here, in a struggle with a demon, I broke the jewel with a bow and arrow. Then I learned that I was a reincarnated form of a priestess, who guarded that same stone 400 years ago, and I feel responsible to find the shards and protect them." Kagome ezplained in a synosis so that the guys could 'get the gist' of things.

Gohan stood up and walked over to the reincarnation and brought out his hand. In it was the shard that Kagome wanted him to protect.

"Kagome, take this......I feel that I would take away from your purpose if I kept it," Gohan seriously spoke. She looked at the object for a little time, then took the jewel away from his hand.

"I understand," she simply said to Gohan. The two bowed to each other respectfully then sat back down on there spots. Miroku then walked over toward Sango and sat down beside her.

"Sango...what did Vegeta have to say to you and Gohan that was so important?" Miroku asked

"I don't want to talk about it Miroku," she snubbed toward the monk, " and get your hand off my butt."

Gohan heard that and suddenly appeared behind Miroku.

"Monk....I'd advise you do what she says," said Gohan with a growl, rarely heard from the normally calm half-saiyan.

Miroku, having the brains that matched his pervertedness, took his hand off her butt wisely.

" I sense jealously in your voice Gohan," Miroku calmly said, "I will take my leave, may I request your company Vegeta."

Vegeta smiled as Miroku went to his ear.

"You were right Vegeta," he simply whispered to him before he sat down.

'Hmm....I think Veggie boy over there put Miroku up to this to prove a point,' scoffed Inuyasha mentally to himself.

Meanwhile Sango looked at Gohan, who had the 'deer in the headlights' look to him.

"Gohan, you don't have me as yours, so why the jealous streak, hmmm," Sango calmly, but intently said to him, with a pinch of anger in her voice.

"I-I honestly don't know," he stammered.

Sango just didn't say anything to Gohan that night. She had to comtemplate how she was going to beat the mating urge that Vegeta talked about a few minutes ago? She thought in her mind that she could never fall in love because of her profession as a demon slayer.

But her heart was in conflict...to give in, or to resist? Is that the question she should ask herself.

Over the bluff........

A young man stood there in his long hair, his brown fur shirt, and his same color shorts. He looked down and saw the campfire. He smelled the smoke from about sixty feet out from his spot. Then a couple of people and a few brown wolves went to the man.

"Master Kouga, do you think it's that girl you are smitten with?" one of them asked.

Kouga stood for a minute straight and tall.

"How would I know," he honestly said to the associate.

Kouga walked away with his associates, hoping to meet his supposed lady tomorrow.

The Next Morning

The sun rose high into the air and waked the explorer group. Kagome didn't get much sleep because she felt three jewel shards and it kept her awake for while, but since the person holding them wasn't coming closer she fell asleep and woke up with the rest of them.

The group walked up the mountain trail when the young girl Kagome felt the same three shards coming there way fast.

'Don't tell me it's Kouga,' thought the girl as they approached fast to there location. Then, a sudden arm just happened to go around her.

"Hello Kagome," smiled Kouga as he tightened his grip with his arm. Her cheeks turned a flush red as the wolf demon in human form looked at her.

" I see the dog hasn't made his move yet," he added halfway speaking to her and halfway speaking to Inuyasha.

"It's Inuyasha you stupid bastard," growled the dog hanyou.

"Well you little pooch, I might as well take Kagome back to my cave," he shrugged taking Kagome with him at a fast speed. But......

He wasn't fast enough to avoid a certain wild haired Saiyan.

"I don't think the lady wants to go with you right now," Goku said as he appeared in front of the two. Kagome moved her head side to side as to say no to her captor, at least for now.

"Alright, I won't take her to my cave.....I will just travel with you for today, so I can talk to her...I would never take a lady against her will," Kouga spoke to both Goku and Kagome, "Inuyasha can just jump off a cliff and kill himself for all I care."

"Alright I heard that!!," blared Inuyasha, his blood boiling from the little insults

"Inuyasha this guy is kinda friendly...at least that's what he seems to me, so control yourself....unless you want Kagome to make you 'sit'," teased Goku. Inuyasha almost instantly stood still.

"Sit?," Kouga questioned before going into a small fit of laughter.

"She's got him tamed alright," Miroku just had to add.

"Kouga, may I introduce our new companions?" she asked him. The wolf youkai nodded his head saying yes. Kagome took her arm from around herself.

"Ok Kouga, the one with the hair standing like a small black fire is Vegeta. This guy that stood in front of us is Goku, the one standing beside Sango over there is Goku's oldest son Gohan, and the two little guys in front of Miroku are Goten, his youngest son, and Trunks, Vegeta's son," she introduced to him, "and guys this is Kouga, the leader of the wolf demon pack"

"Nice to meet you," replied Goku bowing.

"Well, someone that isn't a total waste like the dog over here," scoffed Vegeta.

"So that's why all those wolves follow you...cool!" Goten chimed pointing out the wolves that were around them.

"Oh, those wolves aren't gonna attack are they?" Trunks questioned.

"Don't worry they are under my control, so they won't attack unless I say so," Kouga confidently stated. Then he noticed something....he noticed the way Sango was looking at Gohan, she tried to look away from him, but every once in a while she would look back at the demi-saiyan.

'Hmm this behavior is very strange, if I didn't know any better I would say that she would have a thing for him,' thought Kouga as he observed the newly introduced people around him.

"Kagome, I have to hunt now, but you will see me again," he smiled as he ran off. Kagome and the others waved by as Kouga and the wolves ran off.

"Hey Kagome...is that guy your boyfriend?" Goku just ignorantly had to ask.

"Well.....not exactly," Kagome answered as if to avoid the curious people around her, "I just don' t want to hurt his feelings."

'Hmm.....women,' Vegeta barked in his mind, watching the evasiveness of Kagome of Goku's questions.

Meanwhile at the cave of the egg.

Kikyo watched the thing between Kouga and the group on Kulla's mirror and stood up on her own two feet.

"Kikyo, where are you going?" Naraku asked her.

"I'm going to pay a visit to these strangers, and I'm going to entice Inuyasha, what else?" smirked Kikyo as she walked away from the cave.

"Hmm....they say that this demon can absorb people.....I wonder what he would look like with the Tetsuiga in his hand," thought Naraku as he watched Kikyo's retreating form.
