Chapter 3: One last chance to escape

 

 

 

All three of Tails' greatest inventions had successfully cleared the runway, and were flying over the ocean, happy that they escaped the clutches of the giant behemoth known as Brolly.

 

 

That is until Sonic took a glance behind them to see Brolly closing in on them fast. “Guys, he's coming!” Sonic yelled, causing everyone to look behind them. “He's going for the X tornado! Tails, Amy, Cream, get outta there!” Shadow yelled, but it was too late, Brolly was too close to the X tornado to escape.

 

 

“What the…” Tails was interrupted as the muscle-bound giant tore through one of the plane's wings like paper. “Oh no,” Sonic whispered. This isn't going to end well, Sonic thought. He had to turn Brolly's attention away from the X tornado somehow; otherwise Tails, Cream, and Amy were toast.

 

 

Then an idea came to Sonic. It was a risky one, but it was the only one he had. Without hesitating, Sonic jumped off of the Tornado's wing, surprising Shadow a bit.

 

The azure colored hedgehog coiled up into a ball and rushed at Brolly, striking a blow to his face and leaning him back far enough so that Sonic could strike another blow to his gut, plummeting the two to the water below.

 

 

“Knuckles, bring the plane around and catch Sonic!” Shadow ordered. Knuckles did as instructed and made the plane take a nosedive. Thinking quickly, Sonic leaps from Brolly's stomach and onto the Tornado's wing.

 

 

Unfortunately, the plane had gotten to close and Brolly was in an arm's reach. The hulking giant grabbed the Tornado's tail and rips it clean off.

 

 

Sonic and Shadow jump from the plane's wings and run along the water's surface below, while Knuckles glides over and lands in the tornado 2's back seat. Sonic looks up and sees that the X tornado was spinning out of control.

 

 

Sonic spindashed toward the plane and bursts through the cockpit. Sonic picks Amy up, bridal style, while Tails does the same thing with Cream, and the jump from the cockpit just before the plane explodes.

 

 

Sonic lands on the Tornado 2's left wing and gently sets Amy down on it, as Tails did with Cream. “Stay here!” Sonic commanded, Tails looks over to Knuckles. “Knuckles activate the machine gun!” Knuckles salutes, pressing a button on the back of the pilot's seat, causing a small turret gun to rise out of the tail. Knuckles positions himself in front of the gun, aims, and fires, hitting Brolly on the money.

 

 

“Time to finish this!”

 

Sonic jumped from the plane's Wing and coils into a ball again. He shoots forward and hits Brolly in the face, tipping him over and causing him to plummet toward the water.

 

 

Sonic uncoils himself and screams, “Sonic Wind!” a blast of blue wind shoots out from Sonic's hands and pushes Brolly into the water.

 

“I got him!” Sonic cheered.

 

Sonic then began to run along the surface of the water, with Tails flying right beside him. “He's not finished yet, Sonic.” Tails warned.

 

 

“Whaddya mean? I hit him dead on!”

 

“They don't call him the legendary super saiyan for nothing!”

 

 

On cue, Brolly's hand reaches out from under the water, grabs Sonic, and pulls him under.

 

“Sonic?!” Tails shouted.

 

 

Under the water Brolly created a small orb of green energy and blasts Sonic with it, hurdling the hedgehog into an underwater rock. Brolly shoulder charges Sonic further into the rock, causing Sonic to lose air, and smashing him through the rock.

 

 

Sonic tried to spindash into Brolly, but was too slow under the water and received a hard kick to the chin. Brolly began to ferociously pound Sonic's body into mincemeat, as the defenseless hero does nothing but take the beating.

 

 

Above the surface Knuckles watched his longtime friend get dragged under water by Brolly. Knuckles turns to the young kit floating above the water. “Where's Sonic?” Knuckles asked Tails shakes his head, not knowing what happened to his longtime friend.

 

 

Knuckles turns to face a crying Amy. “Take the controls!” he said, Amy looks confused. “W-what?” she asked. “Did I stutter? Take the controls!” Amy takes control of the machine gun as Knuckles takes a nosedive into the water below.

 

 

Knuckles saw as Brolly continuously pounded Sonic's body.

 

Time for an intervention, Knuckles thought.

 

The red guardian interrupted Brolly's fun by striking a blow to his face, knocking him a foot or two away from Sonic. Brolly smiles as he and Knuckles charge at one another.

 

Knuckles swings, but Brolly grabs his fist and knees him in the stomach, causing Knux to lean back a bit. Without a second of hesitation, Brolly blast Knuckles' face with one of his green energy orbs, shooting Knuckles into a nearby underwater rock and shattering it.

 

While Brolly was occupied dealing with knuckles, Sonic spindashed into the behemoth's back, but Brolly felt no pain at all, instead he threw the two up and out of the water, where they landed on the wings of the Tornado 2 panting, and gasping for breath.

 

 

Brolly conjures another one of his orbs of doom, but just before he fires, a yellow blast of energy, shaped like an arrowhead, hits him in the chest, but Brolly shakes it off and looks in the direction of the attacker.

 

Shadow frowns, “I told you not to forget about me!” he scolded.

 

Shadow looks forward and notices that they were nearing land.

 

Brolly roars, grabbing Shadow by the face and launching him toward the land, making Shadow skim across the water.

In the son home Goku was just finishes up dinner, until an enormous power level hit him like a ton of bricks. “Whoa!” Goku cried, standing up from the table and shocking Chi-Chi. “I haven't felt this big a power level since…. Oh no!”

 

By using his instant transmission technique he teleports to West City in seconds. Goku starts frantically searching for the huge level of power. Goku comes across a familiar face during his search. “Trunks? You felt it too?” Goku asked, an 18-year-old Trunks nodded. “Yeah, Goku. It's him!”

 

The two are caught by surprise as Shadow shoots through three buildings in the city before they all collapse over him. “It came from out in the ocean!” Trunks declared, “Well then, we better go check it out!” Goku replied.

 

 

The two saiyans lift themselves up from the ground and fly towards the ocean.
