Chapter One - The Obsessing

----

When one is truly passionate about something, it gives fuel to one's soul. The passion fills one's being and takes over. A fire blazes inside and lights the way through the darkest of times.

When I saw him for the first time, I could see the loneliness and heartache in his eyes. He would never show his emotions to anyone. Somehow I had a feeling that his life had been a rough one.

We were rivals and friends, enemies and allies. He always said how much he hated me, but I'll remember more than ever the one time he admitted he loved me.

----

“He'd make a good sparring partner…” I spoke my realization quietly upon studying the Saiyan who had come with bad intentions.

Something about him was very mysterious. I felt a great deal of tension within him, built up from years of oppression and hate. It seemed as though he was hiding his true emotions from the world, afraid to let any weaknesses show. This Saiyan warrior was obviously trying to be the perfect image of any stereotypical warrior; a killing machine, with no emotions. Of course that is not what I thought a warrior should be. I was taught that being a warrior meant protecting those you love, no matter the cost. We had the same blood of a near forgotten and dying race running through our veins… We have so much in common, yet such different characters.

As we flew away from all civilization, to a more deserted area to fight, I became very anxious. There was one thought going through my head that didn't make sense. Why did I feel like I didn't want to fight him? As we landed my eyes met his cold stare.

Vegeta spoke. “There's something about you…You make me nervous, which is not like me at all…” His eyes were baring deep into mine with a sort of passion burning in them.

Even though we'd just met, I could tell that he wasn't his normal self. The smaller Saiyan took a step toward me. I took a step away only to find myself up against a rock wall. I was trapped with nowhere to go. But did I really want anywhere to go? He's completely open, why can't I just take him down right now? Just when I thought I was going to meet my end, or some sort of misfortune, I was proved wrong. Instead he moved closer to me, his lips brushing against mine. I could feel his hot breath on my lips. The prince's hands gave me shivers as they ran up my arms, stopping at my neck and pulling me into a passionate kiss. I didn't try to resist, I only met his kiss with my own. I took it all in and let the lust inside me take over, which was something I'd never done before. I was overwhelmed with pleasure like never before. Between his hot kisses and my breaths I tried to utter a sentence.

“Vege…ta…were..s-supposed…to be…” My words were met his hands exploring down my back, and coming back up with my shirt. “Vegeta?” I uttered his name, in question of whether he'd heard me or not.

A punch to my face sent me violently back to reality as I found myself flying into a huge bolder, and I felt an instant pain all over my body. I had been daydreaming, as I came to find out very quickly, and the Saiyan prince had taken advantage of that opportunity. Why had I been daydreaming about something as peculiar as that?

“Well, are you going to fight me or not, Kakarott? I don't have all day to wait for you to land a punch.” The prince smirked, amused by his own sarcasm.

The fight raged on between us. Punch after punch, kick after kick, I finally found myself bested by Vegeta. If not for Krillin and Gohan, we may have all met our demise. When Vegeta had a sword at his throat, his life about to be no more, I found myself in agony at the thought. I couldn't let him die. Not only because I believed in showing mercy to all, but because for some reason, no matter how evil he may have been, I felt as if his life held some value beyond that of a heartless killer. I felt something else deep inside me, telling me to interfere.

“Krillin, no!” I yelled out, begging my friend to show Vegeta mercy in hopes that one day he would come back to me with a lighter heart and good intentions. Krillin couldn't understand why I'd want to let him go, but I had a feeling that it was the right thing to do. I suppose one day our paths will cross again, and I will know if what I've done is right.

So, Vegeta, the Saiyan prince, got in his ship and promptly left Earth, with severe damage to both his pride and his body. His last words were of hate, swearing revenge upon us all.

I couldn't place this feeling that was going through my head. Why did I feel so awkward around Kakarott? This feeling had distracted me to the point of loosing, even! If he hadn't had underhanded humans for friends, maybe this wouldn't have happened. This was not acceptable. I will not let that low-class Saiyan walk all over me. We'll meet again one day, and nothing will distract me from pummeling Kakarott senseless! But why do I still have this odd knot in my stomach? Why do I feel this empty space more than ever before? Had seeing Kakarott brought on new feelings of some sort? Wait. What am I thinking? What could that low-class nothing have to do with these odd feelings, unless he is the very person causing them? Now I am starting to think nonsense. Could it be possible that I have...? No, that can't be right. I have to ignore whatever this is that has come over me! So, what was I to do now? This behavior was not acceptable from me, the Prince of all Saiyans. Have I gone mad? How could I be thinking about this low-class Saiyan like this? Why can't I stop thinking about him? I hate him for doing this to me, for letting myself be beaten by him and his weak Earth friends, and not to mention he's taken over my very being, not letting me spare a moment for a thought besides that of him and him only. Do you call that obsession? Or madness?

I landed on one of the many planets under the control of Frieza and went immediately into the isolation chamber. Here my obsessive thoughts of that wonderful imbecile were with me even in dreams as my body healed.

I opened my eyes to find myself in a hospital bed, Chichi asleep in a chair beside me. My thoughts went to Vegeta with my first moment of consciousness. I wondered where he was, and if I'd meet him again. I was so scared he didn't make it to his destination that I almost cried right then. What was wrong with me? How could I be in love with him? What about Chichi? She had always been a loving wife to me, and what have I done to repay her? I really don't know anything about my own people, and what they were like. Vegeta has all my answers. Do I even care about anyone else? Everything seems so distant that I can't think straight. All I know is that I feel as if I'll fall apart if I don't see him again… My eyes closed and I fell back into my slumber.

I found myself in a small clearing of a forest, not another soul in sight, until out of nowhere appeared my Prince. My heart raced at the sight of him. He took a nervous step towards me, as if he was as new to this feeling as I was. I brought the gap between us to a close and took him into a warm embrace. My lips caressed Vegeta's softly. The Prince leaned into my kiss. I wanted so much for this to be real, as I started hearing voices calling me back to reality. I felt the Prince's warm touch caress me, down my back and up again, stopping at my cheek. He broke the kiss and started to trail kisses down my neck and chest. He was driving my crazy with arousal, I could barely stand it.

“Goku!” I heard Chichi's voice as my eyes opened once again. “I'm so glad you're okay!” She threw he arms around me and I winced in pain. Not just pain from my physical injuries, but pain from the cold stab of my reality as I knew it falling apart. It seemed as if I had always been taking advantage of how dedicated Chichi had been. Now I found myself stuck in a hole with no way out. Knowing that I had these odd dreams, these awkward feelings would tear me up inside from this day forward. I shouldn't be thinking like this. I should despise Vegeta for doing this to me, but all I wanted was to be able to see him, touch him, tell him how he has captivated me from the moment I had first laid eyes on him. I wanted to know more about him, about our people. It was all a great mystery to solve. I wanted him to be there through my trials and tribulations so he would be able to help me understand the inhuman urges, the Saiyan urges, I've always had and point me in the right direction. Gods, I wanted him so bad it hurt! Chichi had been saying something about how Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma had run off to a planet called Namek. I hadn't really been listening, but I knew that I must follow them. I did not know that I would ever see Vegeta again, but I hoped I would soon.

I knew, after hearing about Frieza's plan, that if I didn't get to Namek soon and track down those dragonballs for myself, that Frieza would. Curse those scouters for having the transmitting capabilities they do. I have to fight the urge to let my mind wonder to that pathetic excuse for a Saiyan, Kakarott. He is not even worthy of having a Saiyan name. I shouldn't have been so cocky on Earth and perhaps I could have taken all of them down before I had the chance to be given mercy by that fool. Why would he let someone who he knew could come back to haunt him go free? That was truly his greatest weakness, thinking people could change their ways if given the chance. I wouldn't change for anything, would I? I don't know why I just asked myself would I change, rather than knowing that I wouldn't. Nothing can tear me from my goal. Forget Kakarott, I have important things to tend to, like taking down Frieza for destroying my people and my planet. I just couldn't let myself stray from that sweet revenge, not after sucking up to him and putting up with him for this long. Revenge would be mine. After that I might just show Kakarott a thing or two. Hmm…Kakarott. I love how that name rolls off my tongue so naturally. What am I saying? I really have gone crazy! I'd better get out of here and get to Namek!

The gravity was fierce, but I knew that it was an obstacle that I must go through in order to be stronger. I had to save my friends from danger and bring them all back home. I would hope that their experience in the other world is a good one though. I wonder if Vegeta chose to pursue the dragonballs on Namek as well. Another chance to see him…I don't know if I would be able to keep my hands off him. What am I saying? There must be something wrong with me for thinking like this. But did it really seem so wrong? My heart sank as the thought came to my head that from what I saw of Vegeta he probably doesn't feel the same way as I do. What are the real odds of that? He is so cold-hearted. I can see through him though. I know that under that mask must be the heart of a good man. But breaking that mask was the challenge. How wonderful it would be if he felt the way I did. I could go up to him and tell him how I feel, and he would say the same to me. I can almost imagine how his lips upon mine would feel, how his hands would caress my hair and feel on my skin. How I wish this were a dream that would come true. I let a sigh escape my chest as I punched the air at 100 times Earth's gravity. How slowly my arms moved. I felt so much pressure on them that I could hardly move them all the way out. I was reaching out in my mind, but my arm couldn't move. This sensation only made me think more of Vegeta, and how even if I reached out, it would take a long time to break the barrier he'd put up for his protection. That's if it was possible.
