Chapter 2

16 years later…

Vegeta and Radditz had just arrived back from a long tour of purging on the far side of the universe. Most of the soldiers would be bitter about such a mission, but with the saiyans the more time they got to spend away from their tormenter the better. They were both growing stronger all the time and Vegeta was arrogantly confident that he could reach the level of legendary. At this particular time Frieza's daughters were on a visit to the ship. They only visited the ship once or twice a year maybe. They were all full grown, but still under their father's control in one way or another sadly they did not see it that way…or did they?

Radditz POV

I hoped all day that I would catch a glimpse of her. The rumors were flying once again that Frieza's daughters were on board the ship. For most of the soldiers that meant they should stay clear for fear of doing or saying the wrong thing, but for me that meant a chance at seeing maybe evening talking to Patrice.

I knew it was wrong of me to want so badly to see the daughter of my peoples' mortal enemy, but I couldn't help it. She had enchanted me ever since the first day I had spoke to her. She was very intelligent and charming, yet she was very proper. She was the very definition of nobility. She carried herself with grace and composure. Her beauty was also unparalleled. Her silver eyes and sparkling wings made him weak in the knees. He lived to make her smile, the rarest and most beautiful sight he had ever laid eyes on.

`How could one woman weaken me so?' I thought to myself as I daydreamed. Every time she came to the ship I tried to meet her. No one not even Vegeta knew about their meetings. It was a secret…friendship…

Patrice POV

It was the first time since we had arrived on father's ship that I had free time. The first two days had been spent meeting with father and his advisors and a few ambassadors. I was finally left alone and I snuck out. It was possible my sisters would notice, but none of the guards or ladies in waiting would notice I was missing for a little wild. I began to wander the empty corridors. I knew that if I wandered around for a while Radditz would find me. He said it was because of my unique ki signature that he could always find me before I found him. The last five visits to father's ship I had not seen him and I missed him. He was the only man ever able to make me smile. I had been raised to be proper and learned early that emotion could be a terrible weakness so I kept myself aloof and cold to keep my feelings from others. Radditz and my sisters were the only ones to ever break down that barrier.

I floated off the ground as I came down another corridor giving my wings some exercise. I hadn't used them since we had set off for father's ship and I longed to fly even though there was little space on the ship to do so.

“Well I'll be!? What's an angel like you doing in a place like this?” Patrice knew that familiar voice coming from behind her and she smiled, before she turned around to see Radditz standing behind her with his arms crossed smirking.

“Well if isn't the devil himself?” I said floating to the ground softly. “Same old cocky joker I see.”
“And you haven't changed either little miss serious.” He mocked.

I smiled for a moment, but then it faded as I looked away. “I missed you.”

Radditz frowned and scratched his head nervously. “Well your father had me on some long term missions.”

“Oh.” I said. In the last ten years I had learned that my father was far from benevolent. He was a tyrant. I suspected it when all his soldiers seem to disappear when we were around and how on some worlds people ran and hid at the sight of us. When I asked people how they liked living in Frieza's empire, I could tell they were lying when they said how peaceful it was.

One day on a famous trade world. I came across a sad little boy. When I asked him what was wrong he was about to tell me when a woman came running through the crowd and begged my forgiveness for her son. When I tried to explain that he was in no trouble she grabbed him and ran. That day I knew that when I took over my father's empire I would be feared not respected.

With Radditz it was different. He treated her as an equal. When she came out of her revere Radditz was staring at her intensely. She found herself caught in his intense black orbs and her breathing seemed to stop all together. Radditz drew closer and took her hands in his own. She shuddered. It was the first time he had ever touched her. His large tan hands held her small pale ones gently as he rubbed his thumbs over the back of her hand. She knew she should pull away, but his eyes still held hers.

Usually when they met they would talk and throw sarcastic remarks back and forth for an hour or so till her ladies came looking for her, but this time there was no speaking.

She reached up and touched his face when she really wanted to touch his wave of spiky hair. He closed his eyes and bit his lip as if in pain at my touch. I moved my hand down to his lips and held it there as I felt his moist breath on my palm. “I missed you….” He whispered against her hand. The vibration made her remember to breath.

She gasped at the softness and longing in his voice. Her whole body roared to life at the sound. Her hand dropped away from his lips and he leaned in for a kiss. “Patrice! Where are you?” It was Estella shouting from down the corridor.

I clenched my jaw and Radditz pulled away abruptly. “Oh I am going to kill her!” I whispered menacingly.

Radditz chuckled. “Something tells me you couldn't hurt a fly.”

I smirked. “You would be surprised soldier boy.”

He smirked devilishly and caressed my chin with his finger. “You never cease to amaze me Patrice.”

Then like a whisper of air he disappeared as Estella bounced into sight. “Hey there you are! Father says that we are going on a special mission.”

“What?” I asked.

“Father says he has heard of some magical objects on the planet Namek and we are all going! This is the most exciting adventure we have ever been on.” She said excitedly.

I quirked an eyebrow at her wondering what dad could be up too. It was just like Estella to be ecstatic about a new adventure no matter how mysterious the circumstances.

Later I would learn that Radditz overheard Estella from his hiding place and he decided to tell Vegeta.

They're off to Namek what will happen there….
