Turtle Hermit Party
Shanaa sat confused in the middle of the Capsule Corporation living room. She was dressed to kill and waiting while the rest of the house ran around frantically, trying to find shoes and such. Only Vejita seemed ready enough to leave. He smiled at his granddaughter as she sat in his chair wearing a bright red miniskirt and a black halter that used to belong to her mother. She had her legs crossed and looked much like a true princess as she rolled her eyes and shook her head at the others as they bustled about. Goten had finally finished getting dressed and sat down on the couch, staring over at Shanaa. She didn't seem to notice until she felt his eyes on her. She looked at him from the side with one eye and raised the eyebrow above it as if to say 'You like?'. He watched her lips as they slowly spread into a slight grin and she ran her tongue over them quite provocatively. He looked away and Vejita shook with silent laughter. Males always seemed intimidated by his daughters and granddaughters and there was good reason for it. They were all brought up as if they were men. Serena especially. She had grown up around plenty of men here on Earth and on Freeza's ship. All the females from Vejita's side had perfected the 'scare 'em into liking you' technique and were good at what they did.
"Alright!" Serena said finally, standing in the middle of the room wearing a pair of jeans and a black tank top with the words 'Man-Eater' across the chest. "Let's get go--" Shanaa had suddenly jumped up as though she had been bitten by something and dashed up the stairs to her room. If her mother was going to dress casual, then why should she be all fancy and stuff? She shed the skirt and pulled her tightest pair of hip huggers on, lying flat on the bed so she could zip them up. She looked at her shirt and decided to keep it. It looked cute with the jeans and heels. She pulled her hair out of the neat ponytail and shook it out, fluffing it a little before she went back downstairs. Serena had her eyebrows raised and looked at her daughter with a 'can I finish now?' look on her face. "Like I was saying. Let's go people. Pick a car and get in." She yelled. Shanaa moved to get in her grandfather's car when Goten took her by the arm and pulled her towards his own black car. "Sit shotgun if you want." He winked at her and held the door open for the others while they piled in the back. Keko and Reoko sat in the back with Angel and Bra. Shanaa slid into the front, watching Goten from the corner of her eye again as he sped off into the air.
They reached the old Turtle Hermit's place in a little under a half hour without saying one word to each other. Shanaa was the first to step out and sink into the sand. Her heels were too spiked for the soft surface and it took her a full two minutes to get herself unstuck and walk into the house. The old man greeted her with a slap on her denim covered behind. She yelped and glared at him, moving to bash the top of his head in when Videl's daughter Pan came rushing out to see her grandfather and Uncle Goten. She knocked Shanaa to the side and off her feet. The fifteen year old glared at Pan and took the hand offered to her by Gohan. "Sorry. She gets herself over excited sometimes. How have you been, Shanaa?" Gohan asked, smiling at her kindly. She wanted to ignore him, but couldn't keep from talking about herself. "I'm doing well, actually." She answered. She noted to herself how much younger he seemed. "You find a boyfriend yet?" He asked, winking. "No." She answered flatly. Gohan nodded and patted her shoulder. "In time..." Shanaa gave a little smirk. * What-the fuck-ever. * She thought, rolling her eyes. Goten had finally shaken Pan from his leg and greeted his older brother with a small hug. "How's it going, Nii-san?" He asked. "Pretty good. Videl and I woke up the other day and well, as you can tell, we're a helluva lot younger than we were the last time you saw us." Goten laughed. "You can thank Shanaa for that. Seems Harmony created a set of Dragon Balls and allowed Shanaa to have the first wish." He smiled and put his hand on Shanaa's bare shoulder. She looked at his hand and then up at him. "Goten. Do you want me to rip that off?" She growled. Goten pulled his hand away and watched her walk back outside. "Granpa?" She murmured, trying to un-stick her feet from the sand. He smiled at her and lifted her out of the sand. "Yes, Kodomo?" he asked, brining her back into the house. "Can I ask you something? I mean, something personal that I REALLY don't want to discuss in here." She pulled a face and nodded towards Goten and the others. "Sure..." They walked away from the crowd and went into the kitchen. "Granpa... do you like Goten? I mean, would he be ok for me to date?" She asked. Vejita raised both eyebrows and bit the inside of his cheek. "Well... I guess he's alright, but, hime-chan, I'm really not the one you should be asking. Maybe you should ask your mother." Shanaa sighed and shook her head. "I'll just go with what my feelings tell me to do, Granpa. Thanks anyway." She shook the sand from her shoes and walked away.
She settled herself on Muten Roshi's couch and surveyed everyone around her. Goten was busy talking to Videl and her mother was talking to Yamcha. Vejita had come back from the kitchen and had started a conversation with Gohan. She sighed again and glared at the floor. She only looked up when the couch dipped next to her. "Hey, why the long face?" Goten asked, tilting his head to the side. She looked at him and smiled. "I don't know. I guess I'm already tired." She giggled a little bit and popped her neck. It had gotten a little stiff while she had been there. "Come on, let's go outside. I'll be there in a sec." She raised her eyebrows and took her shoes off before going outside. She wasn't about to get even more sand stuck to her feet. Goten came outside and motioned her to the roof. They floated up to the red-shingled roof and sat down. "Here. I'll probably get into a lot of trouble for giving this to you, but what the Hell?" He handed over a bottle of Budwiser and smiled. "Don't tell your dad or your mom, okay?: He smiled and waited for her to take it. "Are you trying to get me drunk, Goten?" She asked, eying the bottle in his hand. "No. I'm letting you have a drink. One as in, no more after this one." Shanaa shrugged and took it from him, opening it with a little help from him. She gave a little shudder after taking a small sip. "It's bitter..." She muttered, looking out at the ocean. The half-moon shown beautifully on the surface, glittering softly. "Yeah... it will be like that until you develop a taste for it." Goten smiled at her and then focused his attention on the ocean as well. "This isn't the first drink I've ever had, you know. This guy Alex got me drunk off of a bottle of khalua. Bastard tried to... you know, have his way with me and I just about killed him with a shot to his family jewels." Goten winced. "I see. So then you have a taste for finer alcohol. I could go buy you some... if you want." He smiled at her when she turned around and looked at him. "No. This is fine, thanks." She leaned against the roof and stared up at the stars. They twinkled down at her softly, as if laughing at something. "Shanaa... are you alright?" Goten asked a little suddenly. "Yes... why do you ask?" She looked over at him and blinked curiously. "No, I mean, are you alright being here with me? Alone." He looked down at her, his black eyes filled with curiosity. Shanaa smiled at him and nodded. "Yes. Of course Goten. I'm fine with it. I trust you, remember?" He gave a small nod and then looked back out at the ocean.
"Are you alright being out here with me? Alone I mean..." She sat up and scooted closer to him, waiting for his answer. "Sure. I asked you up here, didn't I?" He grinned at her, much like his father, and winked.
She laughed and shrugged. "Stupid question, right?" She closed her eyes and breathed in the warm ocean air. "Not really. I asked the same thing." He took another drink of his beer and watched her do the same, chuckling as she pulled a face. "I'm going to go get you something else. I'll be back." He took to the air and disappeared before she could say anything. It didn't take him long to come back and when he did, he handed her a small bottle of khalua. She had finished her beer a while ago and wasn't really up to drinking more, but opened the bottle and drank anyway. She had only taken a couple sips when she turned to him and smiled. "You know, Goten, you're really... really cute." She purred, scooting over so her hips touched his. "Er- thanks." He blushed a little bit and looked away. She was getting a little drunk which had not been part of his plan. He slowly reached over and took the bottle from her, standing up to empty the contents of the bottle over the side of the roof. "Goten..." She whined from her spot on the roof. He turned around a little too fast and slid off of the roof. "GOTEN-SAMA!" She shouted, scrambling to look over the side. Goten stood hovering over the sand, his face chalk white. Shanaa breathed a sigh of relief and began to slide a little herself. "EEP!" She took hold of the drain pipe and held on tight as Goten put his arm around her waist. "Let go." he said softly. She nodded and let go of the gutter, turning around to look at Goten. He smiled at her and lowered to the ground, setting her on her feet. "Thanks..." She murmured, biting her lip. He nodded. "Anytime." Goten moved to go back into the house and Shanaa gave a soft squeaking noise as if she was going to speak. He spun around and raised his eyebrows. "Yes?" Shanaa blushed and took his hand, looking up into his eyes with her head tilted slightly to one side. "Goten... will you... go with me?" She waited for his rejecting answer and closed her eyes, startled when she felt his lips against her cheek. "Sure. Why not? It was bound to happen one of these days." He watched her open her blue eyes and smiled again. He put an arm around her and pulled her close, walking back into Muten Roshi's house.
Vejita stared at his granddaughter and waved her over to him. Shanaa's eyes got wide as she bit her tongue and walked over. "Yes?" She asked, keeping her head down so he wouldn't smell her breath. "What's going on with you and Goten?" He asked, staring down at her suspiciously. "We're um..." She blushed and looked up. "We're together... I guess." Vejita's eyes widened and then narrowed. "Shanaa. Have you been drinking?" He asked suddenly. Shanaa gasped and covered her mouth. She had forgotten to keep her head down! "NO!" She answered, shaking her head furiously. "Bullshit. Lemme smell your breath." Vejita growled, wrenching the younger female's hand away from her mouth. "Granpa... you're hurting me.." She groaned, trying to pull away. Vejita released her and glared. "You lied to me. You HAVE been drinking." He hissed. Shanaa had no way out now. "Granpa..." She started, tears gathering in her eyes as she looked over at Goten. "I was not drinking... Goten was and... the taste got in my mouth when we kissed..." She lied, hoping Vejita would be too embarrassed to talk about the subject any father. "Goten was drinking? When he knows he's driving you home? Don't lie to me." "BUT I'M NOT LYING! GOTEN WAS DRINKING AND IT GOT IN MY MOUTH WHEN WE STARTED TO MAKE OUT ON THE ROOF!" She yelled. The entire room fell silent and looked over at her. Serena walked over and stood between Shanaa and Vejita. "What's going on here?" She asked. "Your daughter was drinking, Serengeta, though she claims that the smell came from Goten's mouth." Vejita spat. Shanaa looked away from her mother and closed her eyes. "Shanaa. Open up." Serena hissed. Shanaa looked back up and opened her mouth. "I smell nothing, Daddy. I think it's your upper lip." Serena walked away, taking her daughter with her. "Shanaa. If I EVER catch you drinking again, you wont get off so easy, got it?" Serena hissed under her breath. Shanaa nodded and pulled away, heading back over to Goten. "That was too damn close..." She murmured. Goten nodded and put his arm back around her shoulder. "You told Vejita we were making out. Are you asking to have me killed?" He teased, knowing about Vejita's tendency to be a bit overprotective. "What was I supposed to say? 'Yes Granpa. I was drinking. I had beer and khalua. Aren't you happy?' He'd kill me faster than you, no doubt." She leaned closer against him and sighed.
She looked up when she felt him kiss the top of her head. "Come on." He moved over to the couch and sat down with her on his lap. They sat talking for a while until Shanaa moved in and kissed him, aware of everyone else's staring. When they pulled back, Goten was a little red in the face, but nowhere near as red as she was. She smiled at him and set her head on his chest, closing her eyes halfway. The alcohol had made her rather sleepy and even with the loud music, she couldn't keep her eyes open.

Shanaa opened her eyes and found herself in her own bed. Her head was pounding from the night before and her first instinct was to take a shower. She grabbed a pair of sweats and a white shirt to change into before she walked to the bathroom and locked the door behind her. When she had stripped herself of her clothing, she stared at herself at the mirror, not at all surprised to find several little love bites on her neck. She and Goten had gotten a little out of control in the car at a stop light. She had woken up from her little nap when he carried her into the car, and attacked him with her mouth. She smiled at her reflection and turned the water on. She didn't bother with the radio this time, not wanting to disturb anybody who was still sleeping. She sighed under the cool spray, staring at the white porcelain tiles blankly as she shampooed her hair. Her thoughts ran through the night before again and stopped at Vejita. He had caught her drinking. She could remember his face and his voice. It had been very cold, considering that he was usually mellow with her. She had disappointed him, something she had worked very hard to avoid doing. While she rinsed her hair, she tried to figure out how she would win back his trust. She shrugged at herself and shut the water off, stepping out to dry off. After dumping her dirty clothes in the hamper, she headed downstairs for some coffee and food. What she got was a glare from Vejita. "I can't believe you, hime-chan. You lied to me and then let your mother cover up for you." He shook his head at her and looked away. "I'm sorry Granpa..." She said in a soft voice, her hand stopping halfway to the cupboard. "I shouldn't have been drinking in the first place..." Her voice shook slightly, making Vejita look up. "Hime-chan." He watched a tear slide down her cheek and stood up. "It's alright. I forgive you. Next time, please don't lie. It just makes things a lot worse." He hugged her and kissed her temple. "Now, about you and Goten..." He laughed when she went ridged in his arms. "Only joking. I don't want the details of that little topic." She nodded and went back to looking for something to eat. After deciding on a bowl of cereal, she sat down and picked up the newspaper.
"Local teen killed in drunken car crash..." She set the paper back down and pushed it off of the table. Vejita laughed. "See, it's not good to drink." Goten came down sometime later and startled her with a kiss to the back of her neck. "Good morning." He yawned, going to the cupboard for the box of cereal. "Morning." She answered, smirking at Vejita's expression. "Ahem?" He cleared his throat and looked over at Goten. "Y-Yeah, Vejita?" Goten asked nervously. "Where's my kiss good morning?" He asked. Shanaa nearly fell out of her seat as she started laughing. Goten's eyes widened dramatically as Vejita smiled and laughed a bit himself. "Got you good!" Shanaa cried, pointing at Goten. Goten shook his head and closed his eyes. "Vejita, the day I kiss you good morning is the day my father graduates from elementary school." He muttered, sitting down at the table.
Shanaa shook her head and laughed harder. "Awww. Poor Granpa." She giggled and leaned over, kissing Vejita's cheek. "There you go." She smiled and stood up, putting her bowl away before she walked back upstairs. Keko and Reoko had just come out of their own rooms and were arguing over who got the shower first. Shanaa stared at them for a second and rolled her eyes, going into her bedroom.
She stood there for a few minutes, contemplating whether or not she should pick up the mess of clothes on her floor. She decided to clean up and straightened her room a little. When she had finished, she could hear Vejita calling for her. She headed back down and stared at him. "Yeah?" Vejita pointed to the TV screen and let her have a look for herself. The news was on and was reviewing an area that had just been destroyed by some unknown men. "What the... MOM! DAD!" She shouted. Trunks and Serena bolted from their room into the living room and searched their daughter for answers. "LOOK!" Shanaa shouted, pointing at the screen. Serena covered her mouth with a hand and looked at Trunks. "Do you think..." She started. Trunks nodded. "Of course. Come on!" He headed upstairs to change and advised Shanaa to do the same. Serena called for Keko and Reoko to change and hurry up. Confused, Shanaa changed into a pair of black gii pants that had belonged to Trunks and a tank top bearing her grandfather's name in japanese. After tugging her boots on, she headed downstairs and tried to get her mom to answer her questions. Serena didn't say anything and shoved her daughter out the door. "COME ON!" She screamed at the rest of the house, flying out towards the area that had been on the news.
Shanaa followed, still very confused. What was going on? Where were they going and WHY?
