Confrontation
Shanaa flew behind her older brother, wondering what the Hell was going on and if anyone was going to even talk to her about where they were going. Her grandfather had changed into one of the old Saiyajin battle suits and was flying next to her. Kakarrotto was on the other side of her and refused to speak until they reached the small island where the attack had happened. Serena glared down at the smoky city and shook her head. "Dammit. They've already left..." She muttered. Shanaa quickly flew to the front and hovered in front of her mother. "What's going on? What are you dragging us out here for?" She demanded. Serena sighed. "We got word from Dende that a couple of androids had gotten loose from their maker. Unfortunately, like before, they turned on him and destroyed him." Shanaa nodded. She had heard the stories of androids #17 and #18. "If only... we knew what they looked like!" Serena growled, clenching her fists at her sides. She suddenly gasped and turned around. "Zepher lives down there! He can help us out!" She shouted, flying down into the city. "ZEPH! ZEPHER!" She shouted, banging on his apartment door. The cyborg opened and stared down at his ex-lover. "Well well, look what the cat dragged in." he teased. Serena glared and shoved him. "What do they look like?" She hissed, pinning him to the door. Zepher's eyes widened. "Who?" "THOSE GODDAMN ANDROIDS THAT DESTROYED THE CITY YOU IDIOT!" She hollered. Zepher swallowed hard. "They're twins. Red hair. Pale... one of them has a orange streak on the left side!" Serena let go of him and narrowed her eyes to slits. "Were they created by the same man who created you?" She asked. Zepher nodded slightly. "They aren't cyborgs, they're mechanical like the old ones Gero used to build." Serena thanked him and moved to leave when he took her hand in his. "Serena. Please, be careful." She pulled away and nodded, flying back up to the group. "Well?" Trunks asked, looking a bit impatient. "Twins. Red hair, pale, and he says one has a streak of orange on the left side of it's head." Vejita and the others nodded, all except Shanaa. "Did he say whether or not they were male?" Goten asked, eying Serena. She shook her head. "The news said they looked like men. So, that's what we need to look for. I say we split up and look for them." Goku said softly. Serena shook her head. "No. We look together or we let them find us." Goku shrugged. "Where do we start, Mom?" Reoko asked, her blue eyes staring hard at her mother. "I guess we search the surrounding area." "Right." The group began to search the islands below, coming up with nothing until a loud explosion was heard. Shanaa was the first to see the smoke and head over. "SHANAA!" Serena shouted after her daughter, flying behind her. Shanaa ignored her mother and scanned the city as it smoked. She coughed a little and descended, stepping down on the busted up concrete. "Well well, look what we have here #23. Isn't she adorable?" Shanaa whipped around at the voice, finding nothing behind, in front or above her. "I say so. Think she'll go with us?" Another venomous voice joined in and Shanaa was startled to see a male with long, red hair standing in front of her, a sly smile spread across his lips. "Come have a closer look at her, #24, she's gorgeous." The android hissed, reaching out to touch Shanaa's cheek.
She gasped as if his touch had hurt and backed away. "Awww. Shy one are you?" He sneered. Shanaa swallowed and looked around for any signs of the rest of the group. "Come on darling, we aren't going to hurt you." The other voice spoke up as another male stood next to it's twin. This one had a long streak of orange on one side of his head.
Shanaa closed her eyes and bit her lip, both hands cupping at the side, unseen by the two androids. "Kurai...." She whispered, feeling the hot kii in her hands. "What are you doing, sweetheart? Murmuring a love spell?" One of them teased. Shanaa opened her eyes and smiled, putting her hands up. "HO!" She shot a blast of dark blue kii at them and pushed off of the ground, above the cloud of smoke. Someone caught her around the waist and held her tight. "NO! GET AWAY!!!" She screamed, kicking her feet. "Shanaa! Calm down! Please, calm down. It's just me!" Shanaa opened her eyes and threw her arms around Harmony, her body shaking hard with fear. "What happened down there?" Harmony asked. "There's t-two of them. I managed to use the Kurai-ho to get away, but, my God.." She trailed off and looked up to see her father floating over with the rest of the group. Harmony let go and watched Shanaa start to heave. "BEHIND YOU!" She screamed, pointing at Shanaa. Shanaa spun around and gave a little shout. Both androids glared at her and moved forward. "Such a bad girl. Whaddya say to torching her, #23?" One asked. It's twin smiled and nodded. "Sure. Sounds like fun #24." The one with the orange streak in his hair flew forward and backhanded Shanaa, sending her flying into the ground. "SHANAA-CHAN!" Serena screamed, moving to follow her daughter's fallen body. Goku beat her to it and disappeared into the cloud of dust. "You bastard!" Goten yelled, rushing at #24. "Awww. Look, #23, he wants a little piece of this. Do we feed it directly, or should we make him wait?" He didn't wait for #23's answer as he grabbed Goten by the neck and squeezed. "AHHHHHHHH!" Goten shouted, trying hard to keep breathing. "LET GO!" Shanaa had gotten back up and was now zipping through the disappearing cloud of smoke. "SUPER KURAI-HOOOOOOO!" She shouted, throwing the entire beam of light at #24. Goten was dropped and started to fall from the sky. Shanaa caught him and fed him the other half of the Senzu given to her by Goku. He healed almost instantly and stared at her. "Did you get him?" He choked. Shanaa shrugged and looked to see the cloud from the kii explosion starting to fade. #24 floated on the other side, smirking conceitedly at her. "Wow... that kind of tingled." He grinned and started towards her when his twin held him back. "Leave that female be. Look at that one." #23 pointed at Reoko and smiled. "She's even prettier than this one." #24 said softly, turning his full attention to Reoko. Shanaa felt her face grow hot. She HATED it when anybody said her sister was prettier than she was. She let go of Goten and fired a tiny kii blast at #24's face.
"What the... YOU BITCH!" He shouted. She had singed half of the orange streak off with the little blast of heat and was now smiling at him. "Awww... whatsa matter? Did I ruin your pretty hair?" She grinned and folded her arms over her chest, waiting for them to attack. "You're going to pay for this!" He roared, bolting toward her. "Shanaa! MOVE!" Angel yelled, pushing her niece out of the way, taking the hit full on. "ANGEL!" Shanaa screamed, watching as her aunt fell to the ground with a thud.
"BASTARD!" Shanaa rocketed towards the android and managed to land a punch on the side of his face. He returned with a punch to hers and a chop to the back of the neck. Shanaa plunged into the Earth, creating a huge crater. Serena was really pissed now. She had gone super Saiyajin and was struggling to be released from Harmony, Goku and Vejita's grasp. "Let go of me! Let me at the bastard!" She shouted, thrashing around in the air. Goku's grip slipped and she burst through Vejita and Harmony's hold on her, flying straight at the android. She knocked him out of the air with one punch and went after his brother, grabbing his arm before she kicked the rest of him into the ground. She hung there for a moment, clutching the arm she had ripped off of the android. Goku and the others stared at her and then looked to see Goten holding the fallen Angel and Shanaa. Blood dripped from Shanaa's mouth and forehead and soaked into Goten's orange gii. Trunks took Shanaa in his arms while Vejita took Angel. Goku snapped another Senzu bean in half and fed it to them. Shanaa stirred and opened her eyes, staring in surprise at her mother.
"SERENA! LOOK OUT!" Harmony screamed suddenly. Serena turned and blocked a punch from one of the androids just in time and swatted the other away with his own arm. "HELP ME!" She ordered, blocking and swatting at the androids. Goku was the first one there and bashed #24 back down into the island below. Reoko and Keko distracted #23 before Harmony shot a large kii blast through it's chest.
Serena panted a little and looked at Trunks. "We should move this to the ground. We're going to get our asses kicked if we stay up here." Trunks gave a small nod and descended quickly.
The rest followed their lead and touched down, frantically searching the area for any sign of the twin androids. "Well, maybe we destroyed them..." Keko muttered, nursing his wounded arm. "No. Just because we can't feel their chi doesn't mean they're dead." Serena hissed, her teal eyes scanning the seemingly deserted area. "But I got that one right through the chest! You can't sit there and tell me he can live through that, Serena!" Harmony cried, waving her arms around. Serena raised an eyebrow at her little sister. "They're androids created from nothing, Harmony. They don't have hearts, therefore, they can't be destroyed by such a petty blast." "Besides, they aren't really 'alive'. Just machines that are probably battery operated." Goku grumbled, his black eyes shifting around rapidly. Shanaa stood next to Goten, her blue eyes wide with fear. "Shanaa-chan. Are you alright?" He asked her, watching as she trembled slightly. "I... I feel sick.." She murmured, turning away from Goten and the others. She let out a moan and vomited on the ground behind them. Keko and Reoko both pulled similar faces and groaned. "Ewww..."
Shanaa stood bent over like that for a minute of two before she wiped her mouth and shook her head. "I shouldn't be here. I'm not cut out for this." Vejita stepped forward and grabbed her shoulder. "Don't start with that 'I shouldn't be here' bullshit. I trained you myself, remember? You're going to be here whether you like it or not, Kodomo. So pull yourself together and get over it." He growled. Shanaa nodded and looked up at the sky. "Um... Mom..." She started, pointing up at something hovering over their heads.
"SHIT! They're up there!" Serena screamed. "Scatter!" Goku yelled. "They can't get us all if they can't find us!" Serena nodded and the group dispersed, each finding their own hiding spot. Shanaa stood behind a crumbled building, trying to keep her breathing silent as the twins descended next to it. "Where did they go, #23?" One asked. "I don't know, #24. Perhaps we should flush them out." Came the other one's voice. "No... let's play hide and seek. Kill the first one you find." Shanaa gave a soft gasp that went unheard by the androids and crept out of her hiding spot, sliding under a pile of broken trees. "HEY!" Came a hiss from under the leaves as she brushed them with her foot. "SHUT UP!" She hissed back. It was Angel. Shanaa quietly explained the little 'game' the twins were planning and they both decided to find the others. "You look over there, I'll try over near those buildings. Angel nodded and they both left the little hiding place, quietly walking around the androids. Shanaa found her mother and father hiding beneath a car and let them know what was up. They started to look for the others when a loud scream was heard. "HARMONY!" Serena shouted, flying towards the area where the scream had come from.
Both androids had found Harmony behind another crumbled building and now had their hands palm out, facing her. Shanaa was the first to run up and try something. She gave a loud whoop and kicked #23 aside, skidding on the dirt before she rushed at #24. He met her halfway with a sharp kick to the stomach. Blood, spittle and bile were expelled from her mouth as she landed on the ground, coughing as she tried to breathe. There was a loud shout and Shanaa watched as #24 flew over her head, into the side of one of the still standing buildings.
Trunks put his arms around his daughter and lifted her from the ground, instructing her to breathe and telling her that she was going to be fine. Harmony was fine, just a little shaken up as Serena hugged her. "You don't play fair, you know that?" #23 had pulled himself out of the crater he had made and was now dusting his shirt off with the remaining arm he had. "This is all a game, you humans need to learn how to play by the rules!" He shouted, firing a kii blast at Shanaa and Trunks. Trunks turned his back to it and shouted when it struck his back. "DADDY!" Shanaa screamed against his chest, her hands clenching the black tank top he wore. "KOIBITO!" Serena's frantic cry startled Shanaa into looking up. Trunks had gone limp and was now being supported by her body. "Tousan? TOUSAN!" She yelled, kneeling down to lay him on his back. He was still breathing, just very slowly and once every few breaths, he gasped in pain. Shanaa felt tears welling up in her blue eyes and closed them, the tears spilling out of her eyes, onto Trunks' cheek.
"You... fucking BASTARD!" She crouched down and gave a shout of emotional pain, a burst of yellow energy knocking the android back a few feet. Shanaa stood, her hair twisted in little yellow clumps, eyes teal and shining with tears. Her golden kii expanded around her body, burning away little clumps of grass as it touched them. "You..." She raised her hand and pointed a finger at #23. "You almost killed my father. I can't let you go on living." Her lips curled into a supercilious smirk before she fired a huge blast of yellow kii directly at his chest. Within seconds, bits and pieces of the android rained down on the Z-senshi, conking Goku on the head several times. Shanaa gave a low moan and fainted to the ground, the yellow aura disappearing as she hit the ground. Goten walked over and scooped her up, turning to his father for a senzu bean. "I've given her two already... I'm starting to think she isn't as strong as we think she is." Goku grumbled, popping a half of a senzu into her mouth before putting a whole one into Trunks'. "Where'd that other android fuck go?" Reoko asked, looking around. "He took off. I think he saw what Shanaa did to his brother and fled out of panic." Keko answered, kicking over some of the pieces of #23. "Good show, Imoto-chan." He grinned at Shanaa who seemed oblivious to what had happened. "Should we head home?" Trunks asked Serena. She nodded and they took to the sky, heading back to Capsule Corp. where Bra and Bulma stood waiting to hear the news. Serena sat down and explained it while Shanaa went upstairs for another shower and a nap. Despite the adrenaline coursing through her veins, she was tired and still shaken up from that battle. She hadn't expected that much trouble from a pair of dolls. She was proud of herself for destroying #23, even though it took Trunks' near death situation to cause enough anger for her to even conjure up the amount of energy for that blast.
She sighed and flopped onto her bed, looking up at the ceiling. She didn't feel like a hero though. She felt like she had been lucky. Just, lucky. Closing her eyes as she rolled over, Shanaa pictured herself blowing the android to bits and smiled. Vejita had been right. She was strong enough to handle this job. But something else plagued her mind. What if the other android came looking for her? What if he was stronger than his brother? That happened sometimes. Scientists and inventors often made one creation stronger than the other, even if they were supposed to be equal in strength. She shook the thought from her head and tried to sleep.

Shanaa heaved a sigh as she sat at the table with the rest of the house. She didn't feel like eating right now, needless to say she wasn't very hungry. Trunks kept watching her from the corner of his eye as she picked and prodded at the food on her plate. "Hime-chan." he said softly, startling her so bad that she dropped her chopsticks to the floor. "H-hai, Tousan?" She looked up and blushed after picking up her utensils. "Are you all right?" He asked, raising a lavender eyebrow. Shanaa nodded and set her chopsticks back on the table, folding her hands in her lap. Goten put his hand on her shoulder and tried to get her to look at him. She just brushed him off and stood, offering Goku what was on her plate before she left the dining room and headed into the living room. She snuggled herself into Vejita's chair and stared at the blank TV screen. She cursed the stupid thing to Hell for bringing the news about the androids into her home. "Shanaa." She looked up at her grandmother and smiled. "Hi Gramma." She said softly, watching as Bulma sat down on the couch and eyed her. "You alright? Your father told me about that fight earlier and he also told me you got a little sick." Shanaa nodded. She hated it when people asked if she was all right over and over again. "I just got a little nauseous from being tossed around so much." Bulma nodded and patted her granddaughter's shoulder, standing up to go back to her lab. Shanaa shook her head as she watched her walk away. "I swear, if one more person asks if I'm all right, I'll kill them." She mumbled to herself, closing her eyes.
"Kodomo." Shanaa opened her eyes and rolled them when she looked up at Vejita. "If you ask me if I'm all right, I'll break your neck, Granpa." She growled. Vejita laughed and sat down. "You think I want to know if you're all right? I mean, I care and everything, I just don't care to ask. I want to know how you feel about destroying that android pretty much by yourself." He grinned at her and waited for her to answer. "I don't know how I feel, Granpa. Proud, I guess. How should I feel?" She looked over at him and titled her head to the side. Vejita shrugged. "I guess that's good enough for me. I really couldn't tell you how you're supposed to feel. Your dad wanted me to come out here and check to see if you were 'all right' but you know, I don't think that's a question we need to have answered right away. Oh, and Kakarrotto thanks you for the extra food you put on his plate. I swear, that man eats more that I do. He'll stop training one of these days and gain a ton of weight." Vejita laughed. Shanaa smiled. "And then you'll be number one, like you should be." She watched him nod and wink at her. "But I think we both know that the day Kakarrotto eats himself to death is the day I discover that I'm really a woman." Shanaa seemed a little confused by this, but didn't say anything. She just smiled again and leaned her head against the back of the chair. "Tired?" Goten had finished eating and was now joining Vejita on the couch. Shanaa nodded and avoided his gaze. She felt strange when she looked at him now. Like she knew better than to be with him. She had shrugged it off this morning, but now she couldn't avoid it. She bit her lip and sighed. She was going to have to tell him now. "Goten, erm... can we talk?" She asked, sitting up. Vejita got the hint and left the room. He knew what 'can we talk' meant. It meant someone was going to end up with a broken heart in a few minutes. "Sure, um, what's up?" Goten asked, scooting closer to her. "Um... I don't know how to put this, but, since last night, I've been feeling a little... uncomfortable around you." She couldn't bring herself to look at him while she spoke. She heard him sigh and was sure that he had nodded. "Well, it's your choice, Shanaa. I'm fine with it if you don't want to, you know, be my girlfriend anymore." Shanaa couldn't help but look up and bite her tongue. "Goten... don't take it the wrong way, please. I love you, I really do... I just don't think I can handle a relationship right now, you know?" Goten nodded again and shrugged, standing up. "Like I said before, whatever you want, Shanaa." She watched him saunter away and buried her face in the side of the chair.
"FUCK!" She screamed into the leather, tears cascading down her cheeks. Half the house came into the living room, including Goten, and stared at her while she sobbed into the arm of Vejita's chair. "Shanaa-chan..." Serena knelt in front of the chair and put her hand on her daughter's shoulder, feeling her shudder under the touch. Shanaa looked up at her mother and bit her lip. Her face was red and wet with tears. Strands of her dark lavender hair stuck to her cheeks as she sniffed. "Oh, sweetheart..." Serena brushed her hand over Shanaa's cheek, wiping away tears and tucking the strands of hair back into place. "What's wrong?" She asked, looking into her daughter's blue eyes. Shanaa shook her head and closed them, pushing herself out of the chair to go upstairs.
As she passed Goten, he slid and arm around her waist and looked down at her. "Goten..." She whined a little and turned away, ignoring him as he nuzzled at her neck. Saiyajin males did this to try and convince the female that things were alright and that they would make everything better if they weren't. "Please, one more chance, Shanaa-chan?" He whispered, kissing her ear. She gave a slight nod and buried herself in his arms, her head tucked tight under his chin.

Awwww....
How sweet! Right? (rolls eyes) well, anyway, I'll continue the fight in a future chapter.
Right now, I have OTHER plans for this story. Plans that are just so perfect and EVIL
that I'm finding it hard to contain myself.
Ja Ne!
