~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~```` Chapter The Noose
Recall the deeds as if
They're all someone else's
Atrocious stories .
Now you stand reborn before us all
So glad to see you well
And not to pull your halo down
Around your neck and tug you to the ground
But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're planning to go about
Making your amends to the dead
To the dead
Perfect Circle- The Noose
He had been stupid. He had been cocky. He had never fought a demon before. Never knew how impossible it was.
Now once again, he was a prisoner.
Vegeta looked to his side, Trunks was still past out.
They did put up a good fight. At Super Sayian level Vegeta had been able to actually strike back. What he hadn’t been counting on, was their technology. Flying energy cuffs came sailing through the air, finding one wrist and then another, binding them together and decreasing his ki to the level of a five year old. His body had collapsed on the battle field, his legs suddenly unable to bare his body weight. The demons put on bracelets that made them solid so they were able to pick him up.
Dynasy protected Trunks. His white wings cast a bright light that seemed to injure or disable any demon that came near him. But someone the demons knew what they were going up against. A large collar had soon found its way around his thick neck and all his power was sucked from him. Trunks was shortly after knocked out and tied with cuffs. Vegeta knew not what had happened to anyone else. He had lost sight of Gideon after about an hour, however more then forty percent of his people lay dead on the red sands.
Three hours had past by so quickly. He only had three hours left to get back to the doctor that could save Trunks. And the odds were not looking so good.
A father’s fear was settling in. He was conjuring up plans that could never work. He was becoming desperate. Vegeta watched his son sleep, wondering what was happening inside of him.
A door opened. Finally. Their cuffs fell from their wrists and Trunks shifted and eyes fluttered.
Queen Kana came through the door. “We both know you can’t hurt me. So unless you would like those back on, I suggest you keep a low energy level.”
Vegeta sat up straight, glaring with contempt, grasping at ideas on how to get his son out of here alive. It was nerve racking how he got himself in this position. How he always seemed to get into trouble. When he was young and reckless he never once found himself at the mercy of another. He was the tormentor, the killer, the controller of every situation. Now he was weak, and nothing.
Queen Kana’s body swayed as she moved her body completely see-through as she moved. “Why have you come to space?” Vegeta’s eyes narrowed as he heard the sounds of her footsteps.
“It does not matter.”
“It matters to some. Those that had their lives turned tragic because of you and your conceited ways. It may have been twenty years ago, but do not think many still do not plan vengeance. For some, that is all that they have.”
“You speak as if you know Vengeance. Yet, it is impossible. You are a god. And gods do not know vengeance. Unless….” Vegeta watched her, trying to decipher if this was the same woman he met years before. He had to understand that people change with time but they do not become a whole different person. If this was the queen there were obvious facts to look for. And he would find them.
“Are you implying something Prince Vegeta? That I can’t read into your thoughts and transform this world to the one you miss.” Her body whipped around till the familiar red eyes shined down upon him and his beautiful mother stood before them. “I know what’s in you. I know your life. And yet….” Her brows knit as she leaned in. Her tan complexion so easily matched against his, her black hair falling over her shoulders as she got closer till she was just an inch away. “I sense fear? The Sayian fears?”
“I fear nothing.”
“You fear everything.” The woman backed away as if sickened by what she saw, her face contorting in disgust. “You fear me, here, now, the universe. You are scared to die!” Her head shook and anger came to her and she suddenly was upon him, slapping him across the face, “Sayians feel nothing! They fear nothing! If your father taught you anything, he taught you that!”
The cuffs felt Vegeta’s ki rise quickly and they flew up to his wrists, locking them tight behind the chair, knocking the power out of him, making him feel sick once more. His head fell only for a moment before he found the little strength he had to hold it up.
His mother’s red eyes looked down upon him in way they never had before. There was no kindness, no protective gaze she always had. Vegeta always yearned to see her face again, so alive and fresh to regenerate his memory, but her look of contempt disgusted him. She kneeled before him gazing up into his eyes. “You have changed. You changed so pitifully I don’t even wish to call you my son. You have remorse, and sadness. But worst of all you have fear. And I know you what you dread the most.” She stood and with a twirl of her body she became shorter, wider. She became a he. His hair sticking up in a high flame, a gold crown sitting upon his forehead, a red cape draped across his shoulders decorated only in the best of Sayian armor. His arms were crossed tight upon his chest. And though all of these details sounded like Vegeta’s father, it wasn’t. It was him. It was the Sayian Prince.
Vegeta stalled in breathe. It wasn’t amazement or awe that struck him now as he stared upon himself. It was an exact opposite feeling.
A smirk played on his lips. “How humorous.” His voice the exact replica of his own. “You are frightened by the beast inside you.” Vegeta said nothing, looking away trying to conjure any quick escapes. This female was getting too personal. His son was now awake and would no doubt understand all that was happening. “Look at me, Vegeta. Look at what you were supposed to be.” Vegeta could do nothing but obey. “It’s what you hoped for, for so long. The only thing that kept you alive. To be a prince of the most powerful race in the universe. To be better then Frieza, to kill all that oppose you, to follow no rules but your own. Yet, here you are, staring at what you dreamed to be, and you are terrified. The Sayian that killed and raped, and plundered, and eradicated hundreds of thousands of creatures. Is still inside you. Waiting for a chance to be set free. And you are terrified, because you know you are just one kill away from reverting back to your old self.”
Vegeta lowered his head. Was it true? Is that why he didn’t fight back? Vegeta couldn’t believe that. He didn’t want to believe that. He wanted to believe that years of living with Bulma actually changed him enough. But had it really? Did he secretly wish to be a king? To be worshipped and feared like his father had wanted for him? Or to be prayed and loved like his mother had wanted?
After years of life with his mate, did he regret her? That was the right question he needed to ask himself. Because that he had answer for. “You’re wrong.”
“I wish I was. How pathetic.” The queen paced in his form in front of them, his cape flapping madly. “If I’m wrong, as you say, then why are you here? You are a powerful being. You need a cure, then why not just take it. Why wait to find out what happens next? Why are you sitting here doing nothing while your child dies slowly and soon to be so painful you yourself will kill him out of mercy. Why, Vegeta, why?
“I do not kill anymore.”
“Yes you do. You’re just afraid. Stop denying your Sayian blood and start living up to what you were destined to be. You are a murderer. It’s your blood.”
“It is not. Not anymore.”
“Stop trying to convince me, Vegeta.. I know you. I know what’s in your head. You are terrified to kill again because the beast inside will take over and be set free. So you will watch your son die. And live with the shame.”
“Dad?”
The queen switched bodies. She reverted back to the Vegeta’s mother as she now kneeled before Trunks touching his cheek. Trunks was stiff but did not pull away. “Poor child.” She whispered with a kindness he was not ready for. “My only grandchild. You are beautiful. Yet I feel it.” Her hand slowly descended down to his heart. Her voice broke as if in tears as she spoke, “You are dying my beautiful boy.” Vegeta’s eyes were wide as fear gripped him. Trunks now knew, his blue eyes shot to him with crazed disbelief. He shook his head but the woman continued, “Yes, it’s true. Oh you poor boy.”
“Dad.”
The beautiful voice of his mother was manipulated into a vile, sickening tone, “Yes, Vegeta, tell your son. Unless you plan to lie. Lie to him. Look into those gorgeous eyes, and tell him he is fine. Do it. Do it Vegeta.”
Vegeta forced himself to look away, his fist gripping so tightly he could feel the blood slipping down his palms. Trunks looked away from him, his mouth agape as he stared down upon the woman. “It’s okay.” She whispered, touching his soft hair. “To ease your suffering I will kill you when the time comes. It is best this way. You poor boy.” She kissed his forehead, “Your dad could save you. But he chooses to sit and do nothing. He is weak. Look at him. One of the most powerful beings in the universe and he chooses to let you die.”
“Why are you doing this?” Vegeta snapped, wanting only for her to shut up.
She ignored him; touching Trunks was a tenderness that seemed to calm him in his distress. “I’ll tell you what though. If you tell me where those crystals are. I will save you. Maybe not your father, but you will live and you may go home. I know you are pure and innocent, sweet child. I do not want you to be hurt. But I need those crystals.”
“Get your hands off of him.”
Queen Kana stood, her body transforming back into his own self portrait. He stood before Vegeta, gazing down at him with disgust. “How can you live with your self? Knowing you’re the cause of his illness? You trusted creatures that you knew were foul. You gave them your son. What kind of father does such a thing?” A chuckle came to his lips. “It is quite humorous. That’s the type of father you always thought you were going to be.” The creature paused only to burst out with laughter, “It feels guilt!” he quickly sobered, “So many emotions. Why do you choose that life, when you can just let go and be the Sayian you really are. You lived on the planet Earth for twenty years. Did you believe that you could forget who you are, and what you did? Did you believe that you could fit in with the human race?” Vegeta eyes moved over to Trunks. Vegeta wished desperately to know if he felt alright and what he was thinking. “Sayians have no souls, no hearts, and no conscious. And humans do not cheat and lie, they do not kill and torture--”
“Clearly, you’ve never been to Earth.” Trunks whispered, not taking his eyes off the floor.
It was a comment that was easily ignored by the queen, but Vegeta knew just what it meant. Trunks didn’t know what to believe but right now, he was siding with his father. Knowing that his son was behind him was enough for Vegeta to figure out a way to escape.
The queen came closer to Vegeta, his smug face shoved its way into Vegeta’s space an inch away. He stared back into the exact replica of his own. “Face it, Vegeta. I am there inside, the killer of thousands, the reason for all your shame. Show your son, what you’re really like. A rapist and a murderer--”
Only a second occurred between ripping the cuff free from his wrist and Vegeta wrapping his hand tightly, suffocating around the creature’s neck. “I am done with your guilt trip.” Vegeta bit, standing, holding the queen’s face right in front of his. “Next time you try to impersonate a god, do a bit of research” Vegeta threw his replica into the air, crashing the body against the wall. The black Sayian eyes looked up at him with unyielding hatred. “One, Queen Kana is never solid. Two, Queen Kana would never go after fucking crystals. And three, she called me Savior.” Vegeta raised his hand to release a blast that would injure her, never noticing the knife she took from her side. She flung it with powerful strength hitting his shoulder. Vegeta growled violently feeling it stick his bone, at the same moment the cuffs gripped his wrists once more knocking him off his feet. Trunks came to help him and was caught off guard as the Queen came up from behind with a metal rod in hand. She whipped it across his face causing him to fly back unconscious. The queen dropped down beside Vegeta who looked up with tired eyes. “Who are you?”
“A creature that knows better then to refer to you as a Savior.” She bit, her body shrinking in width and height. Her yellow skin filled in each limp, hairless and fragile. The female gernak. As impossible as it was, she was there, glaring ruthlessly. Red tears were falling but she paid no mind to them.
“How?” Vegeta question. No gernak ever had such power as she now possessed.
“Twenty years of revenge can change a creature.” Vegeta lost a fight in him. He dropped his head against the metal floor. A guilt that was suppressed now poured down upon him. She wiped her tears away. “I sold every possession,” She bit violently, “even my soul, to find a way to destroy you. I knew this day would come. I knew you were alive. I felt you. So I set my plan in action. I waited years for this moment, don’t think I’m about to screw it up.” She gripped the knife and twisted it violently in his shoulder. Vegeta groaned with a closed mouth. “Every moment since I first detected you has been to set you up. The men in the pub. Leading you to Gideon. The crash was an inconvenient but it worked to my advantage. I underestimated you however. I didn’t know your intentions until Gideon filled me in about your son. I expected you to take over Gideon’s reign. I thought Mischa would have told you the evilness in him. I was saddened when she died. Now Gideon and his army will have to be destroyed by mine. I didn’t want this to happen. The Dementias are peaceful. They fight now only so their queen will be kept safe.”
“Where is she?” It wasn’t a relavent question but he wanted her to keep talking. He had to figure away out of this without hurting her. He had done too much already. Vegeta wished his son wasn’t in the room. He wanted Trunks to still have some human emotion toward him that wasn’t resentment or disgust.
“She sleeps. A confining spell. I was able to read a bit of her mind. She has many barriers however so I had to improvise. It doesn’t matter now. I want you to know who it is that is going to kill you.”
“You cannot kill me.”
“And why is that?”
“You’re not like me.”
She stalled, staring at him with a questionable expression. “No, I’m not. In fact, I don’t know what you are anymore.”
“That’s why you can’t kill me. I’m not evil anymore. And you know it.”
“Oh, all I have to do is look at you. And then the nightmares return. When three of you were raping me and my mother. That’s all inspiration I need.” She leaned down closer, till her ear almost graced the floor. “No matter how much you changed, I still see the beast inside of you, Sayian. It’s a part that will never go away. Just like my grief will always be a part of me.” She twisted the knife a bit more. “I bet you never knew one day of sadness. Never knew one day of pain and sufferings. Gods, how I wish I could show you. Maybe if I kill your boy you’ll understand me a little bit better.” The movement startled her. Trunks had gotten up, too fast for her to catch until she felt both her arms pulled behind her back, rendering her helpless.
Trunks was behind her, gripping tight. “I won’t let you do this. I don’t want to hurt you but I can’t let you do this.” She struggled but his hold never lessened. “Look at him. Look at him!” Trunks demanded. “That man that you hate so much is my father. A man that has never known any sort of happiness because he’s too busy torturing himself. I am sorry for the things that happened to you. But your pain is nothing compared to my father’s. Nothing! And if you kill him, the same anger and hurt that you feel now will be given to me. Do I deserve that? Do I? I’ve done nothing to you. My father came here to seek forgiveness and by god, he deserves that, if nothing else. So please. Please, stop. If you have anything left inside you, please don’t hurt him.” He slowly released her.
She watched as the boy broke the cuffs from his father’s wrists and pulled out the bloody knife. Blood poured down his arm, dripping on the floor. She stared at him, seeming unable to move “You seek forgiveness, Vegeta?” Vegeta looked up upon his name. The first time she has used it without so much hate in her voice. Her gaze squinted with confusion. Not only that, but Vegeta’s surprise, there was guilt shining in her eyes. Red tears trailed down her yellow skin. Jelsy blinked finally and the emotions that had been exposed for that minute were now hidden again. “How do you plan to get forgiveness from every single person you killed? I’m sorry, boy; he may have been reborn from all his evil. But he’s still the same man.”
Vegeta watched the woman with confusion as she picked up the knife. It was then he realized it. “Poison.” He whispered, looking down to his wound.
“What?” Trunks panicked. “Dad, poison. no. No please. Dad.”
