Chapter 8
They had flown a few miles away from the house and the town. To Tifa's surprise, a giant ring was set in the ground. Goku had set the rules the same as those of the world tournament. No killing, and you have to stay in the ring. The two saiyans had climbed inside the ring, and the others had sat down to watch.
They started as normal saiyans, Goten coming at her and Tifa dodging him. When the punches slowed, she returned them, and it was his turn to dodge. He caught her in the gut and she hit him in the jaw. Both flew backwards and began powering up. The spectators watched on with disbelief as both turned super saiyan.
Suddenly they were off again, flying and fighting so fast the Chi-Chi and Videl could only hear the impacts and see flashes of color when someone had been hit. Then Tifa appeared, plummeting to the ring and crashing, breaking the ground from the impact. Gohan started to call the match from worry when she stood and wiped the blood from her mouth. She could tell Goten was doing it again, that he was listening to his blood. Determined, she charged and more impacts could be heard.
Again a flash of color appeared as another person was sent crashing into the ring. This time, it was Goten. Gohan whistled at the power he knew it took to take down Goten. Tifa lowered herself back onto the ring and walked over to him. With surprising speed he emerged from the hole and came at her. They both began to grapple, and it reminded them both of the last time they had done so. Both tried to push the other back and neither could do so. The ring began to disintegrate under their feet, and Tifa's foothold broke first. With utter surprise, she fell backwards and Goten pushed her down.
Instinctively she began to roll and continue to grapple. Goten followed her lead and suddenly he felt grass on his back. They had rolled right out of the ring! Tifa released her mate and sat up, confused. Who had won? Both of them were confused at who had won and looked over at Goku, who laughed. "I think it's a tie!" He seemed to think it was funny. Both frowned and looked at each other, and then burst out laughing and powered down.
Tifa blushed as she realized the position they were in and rolled off Goten. He looked at her in confusion and blushed when he realized what she was doing.
"Um, we should get going if we are gonna go talk to my parents, now." Tifa whispered in his ear. He sombered up and nodded, and after a few short farewells, were off flying towards Tifa's old home.
************
Tifa was surprised when she returned home. There were no squad cars in driveway or people running around looking for her. She told Goten that it shocked her that no one was freaking out, and he look worried. They landed at the front door, and looked at each other.
Goten was dressed in a white shirt and jeans, with his tail wrapped in the loops like a belt. He seemed apprehensive about telling a human family that they were both saiyans and that he had stolen their adopted daughter's virginity. Tifa was dressed in her training clothes, an ensemble that consisted of a green shirt and matching pants, and her tail was wrapped like his.
Tifa took a deep breath and rang the doorbell.
************
Gail was closest to the door when it rang. She looked at her parents, who were sitting at the dining table looking like they were beaten with sticks. They nodded, and she fluttered to the door in her normal preppy way, despite how she felt. Hopelessly she turned back the bolt and flung open the door. She looked up with hurt anger, ready to take it out on some nosy neighbor or traveling salesman. Instead, she got an eyeful of her sister, and her anger turned so quickly to surprise that it made Tifa jump.
"Ti..Tiff..," was all that Gail could get out, and even that was a breathy, sobby whisper. Tifa stood stock-still at the earthling version of her name that Gail was calling her. The little blonde threw herself at her sister and clung for dear life. Her sobbing grew louder, and it drew her parents into the room, where they stood planted to the ground at the sight of their missing child standing in the doorway.
Just as suddenly as it began, the spell was broken, and two very angry, concerned parents were marching up to their runaway daughter. "Three days! You were gone three days!" her mother was wailing. Tifa turned to the man who masqueraded as her father. Instead of shouting, he pulled out his cell phone. After he got an answer, he told the police that his runaway daughter had come home and that, no, she did not need to be taken to a detention center, thank you.
Goten stood quietly in the doorway, watching the scene unfold like a soap opera. He looked at Tifa and was surprised to see that she was showing no emotion. It was like he had cured her, drawn her out of her shell, and then these people forced her back into it. Finally her mother told her to come in, and Tifa had to react.
"He's coming in, too," she gestured at Goten and used a tone that said no arguments. The woman looked at her with a sour, prying face. "Who's he?" Tifa looked her in the eye and said, "That's why he needs to come in. I'll explain here in a minute."
She nodded and gestured them both in, and they took seats on the couch. The parents took seats in other chairs, and Gail took a seat on the sofa, still crying her eyes out.
"This won't be an appropriate conversation for Gail," said Tifa. The parents' eyes went wide, and they quickly ushered Gail to her room.
"You did something slutty, didn't you," her mom accused. Goten's eyes went wide. How could a mother say such a thing? Her father quickly settled the mother down, and told his daughter to speak while she had the chance.
Tifa looked like she wanted to hesitate, so Goten started for her. "The thing is, we're s-" he started to say, but she cut him off and finished "Setting the date for the wedding, and we thought we should tell you." Everyone but Tifa looked surprised, and she looked at Goten for a moment and said, "Can I talk with you privately for a second?"
When he nodded, they walked into another room, and she told him that they just couldn't tell her parents that they were saiyans- they just wouldn't understand. They weren't understanding people. After they both agreed, they took up their seats on the couch again and waited for her parents to speak.
Her mother spoke first, "So you're pregnant, then." This made Goten's jaw drop. "No! What is wrong with you? We can't just love each other?" he shouted in anger. She looked up at the boy who dared defy her and said, "Can you honestly say that you two haven't had sex?…I thought not." But this chain of events seemed to have peeved off Tifa's father.
"You will remain here until you are married, understand? And you will finish high school. And you will continue to see Dr. Roshman. And if you don't become pregnant by the time of your wedding date, along with all those other conditions, we will consent to your marriage and give you our blessing, deal?"
Tifa looked at her father with a little surprise. She would have finished high school and stayed at home, anyway. Plus, with only one heat cycle per year, it was impossible for her to become pregnant. And she'd been handling Dr. Roshman for years, a little longer wouldn't hurt. Quickly she hid her grin and nodded like she was doomed. Her father nodded back and started to lead her mother out of the room to make sure she wouldn't throw a fuss at his well-made plan.
Before he left the room, he turned back and said, "Oh yes, young man, what is your name?"
Goten started and said, "Son Goten, sir." Her father only nodded and walked out of the room, her mother in tow.
