Chapter 17- Broken

Author's note: Wow…17 chapters…not bad for a story that I was planning to be only 5. Happy reading.

Months went by and Vegeta became more reclusive that ever. He hardly talked to anyone besides Baka whom he had grown very close to. Baka had grown to his full size. He was big for an Akita, but he was faithful and that's all Vegeta cared about. Even Goku seemed different. He had just found his sister, and she was ripped from his life, along with his niece or nephew.

Vegeta sat up in bed when he heard Baka scratching at the bedroom door. "Damn dog…you want to go out again?!" The dog barked once and stared at Vegeta, as if willing him to get dressed. "Fine, go out and get your leash, I'll be out in a minute." Baka danced around happily before running down the stairs, almost knocking down Trunks and Goten. Vegeta started to get dressed slowly and sighed. `Athena, it's been almost 10 months…I hope you and our brat are ok.' He ran his fingers through his hair and walked out to the front door, almost pushing Goten down. "Move brat."

Goten watched Vegeta as he walked down the stairs with his boots in hand. "He really misses Aunt Athena doesn't he?"

Trunks nodded and sighed. "I think he blames Goku. I heard him screaming at nothing in the GR one day last week. It sounds like Goku kept dad from going to rescue her." Goten just shook his head and walked into Trunks' room.

Vegeta walked through the trees silently, trying to enjoy himself even a fraction as much as Baka. The Akita bounded past him and just before he was out of the Saiyan prince's sight, he skidded to a stop. There, standing in front of the dog fearlessly was a crimson-haired woman holding a baby. He thought nothing of her until he saw that she had a scarlet tail. "Athena?"

A small smirk appeared on her lips but she made no move to come towards him. "Hello Vegeta, did you miss me?" He rushed forward and hugged her tightly. As he pulled away from her, he looked down at the baby. His eyes met with her as if asking who it was. "Vegeta, I'd like you to meet your son, Vegeta Arion. I've been calling him Arion."

The baby smiled up at his father innocently. Vegeta's eyes studied the boy. He looked just like his sire, but he had scarlet hair. The child had the same onyx eyes, olive toned skin, and flame shaped hair. Vegeta took him from Athena and held him close. "Welcome to Earth my son." He looked up at the mother of his child with a genuine smile. "Who took you, how did you get back?"

Athena looked down slightly as the proud smile disappeared from her visage. "Frost took me. He's had me training since I left so I could destroy you and Goku. I'd love to say I don't have to, but he's threatened Arion. I need you to promise me something first."

He placed his hand softly underneath her chin to make her look at him. "What do you want of me? I'll do anything."

"I want you to fight me first. You need to kill me…" Vegeta's shocked face seemed to put Baka in distress and he softly nudged his master's fingers. "I mean if it comes to that. I have other plans for Frost…if I can without putting our son in danger."

She knelt down and looked at her dog. Baka studied her for a moment before pouncing on her and trying to lick her to death. Vegeta watched the interaction between the two and smirked. "What do you have planned Onna?"

She shook her head slightly and looked up at him. "I can't tell you right now. Just get Goku ready, let him know what has to happen. Be at the landing sight, 25 miles east of here at 8 PM, no later. If you meet me, I won't have to kill any innocents." She stood and kissed his lips softly before addressing Arion. "Okay little one, ready to go? You can see your daddy later." Arion looked at her with his bright onyx eyes and cooed quietly.

Vegeta kissed her back and handed his son back to his mother. "I want you to be careful Onna, I lost you once, and I don't want to do it again." She nodded and took off into the air, cradling Arion.

Vegeta did as his mate asked and informed Goku of what was going on. While Goku was surprised to hear that Athena was willing to die to protect the two of them, it didn't really surprise him. After all, he had given his life for others more than once and she was his sister.

They landed in front of Frost's ship and waited. They didn't have to wait for long before Frost walked out with Athena in tow. Arion was nowhere to be seen, but Vegeta had a feeling he was safe. Frost smiled at the two Saiyans before speaking. "Ah, if it isn't the monkey prince and his subject. I see you two talked to my lovely Athena. Good, you know what to expect. Athena…take care of them."

Athena stepped in front of the two men and started to power up, all the way to Super Saiyan 3. She looked up at her mate and her brother with cold eyes. "You know, I really wish I could say I wasn't mad that you didn't try to save me but I can't." Goku looked shocked but Vegeta just stood listening, ready to fight if he had to. "Would you like to know what really pisses me off?" She turned and looked at Frost. "YOU! You took me away from my friends and family!!" She raised her hand and shot a ki blast at Frost.

Frost looked at her in fear. Had she turned against him? Right before her ki hit him square in the chest, he shot his own blast at her, hitting her stomach and sending her back almost 50 yards. Her blast incinerated him, leaving nothing but ash.

Vegeta rushed towards Athena as her golden hair turned back to its normal shiny crimson. He dropped to his knees next to her and looked at Goku. "Kakarot, go get my son and bring him back to Capsule Corp. I'm taking Athena home. Maybe you should ask Koran for a sensu." With that he picked her up and flew off.

Goku walked inside the ship and looked around. He saw a room with an open door and a crib. Peeking his head inside, he saw a small boy that was definitely Vegeta's. The boy focused his onyx orbs on his uncle and smirked. He picked him up and smiled. "Hey little guy, ready to go see your mom and dad?" Arion cooed softly and he used instant transmission to go first to Koran's tower, then to capsule corp.

Vegeta took Athena inside and laid her on their bed. Her stomach wound looked minor but he worried anyway. "Onna, you're something else." He busied himself getting a bowl of clean water and some rags.

Athena opened her eyes as he started to clean her wound. "You're adorable when you're worried, you know that right?" Vegeta looked up at her and smirked before kissing her lips softly. "You looked at bit worried when I powered up." He shrugged and laid beside her.

"You just like giving me wrinkles Onna." He kissed her neck and nipped at her mating mark. As Athena closed her eyes, starting to enjoy his kisses, Goku appeared at the end of their bed with Arion.

Goku smiled slightly and set Arion between his parents. "Whoa, not in front of the baby guys." Vegeta glared at him as Athena tried her best not to laugh. "I should get home to Chi, come visit with my nephew later, ok?" He disappeared slowly.
