How it all Began- Part 7

Another blast shook the planet. “What is with all these earthquakes anyway!” Bulma screamed.

“Man, Frieza is in a bad mood.” Snickered Vegeta.

“Well, what does he do when he’s in a good mood.”.

“You don’t want to know.”

The rumbles soon stopped. “What are we gonna do, Frieza’s henchmen are bound to find us sooner or later.” Said Bulma, collapsing on her deck chair and putting her head in her hands.

“I can handle those weaklings. His men aren’t anywhere near strong enough to defeat me and many of them are too scared to try. So, stop panicking about it.” Said Vegeta, examining her capsule case.

“Hey, where did you get that!”.

“Took it from the table. Just looking at what you have in here.”.

“Oh please, you probably can’t even read the capsule menu.”.

“Are you implying that I can’t read.”.

“No, I’m implying that you can’t read that language.”.

“I’ve been taught many different languages woman, so don’t assume you know what I can and can’t do.”.

Their argument was abruptly cut off when another earthquake shot above them. “I hope Tanya and those other weaklings found a safe place to hide, because Frieza is starting to get really pissed off.” Vegeta snickered.

“Hey just remember, you’re the one that injured Tanya, so it’s your fault if she gets hurt even worse.” Bulma yelled.

“Man, Frieza is really letting loose.” Krillin said in fear.

“This is nothing, you should see what he does when he’s really ticked off.” Said Tanya, still clutching her ribs.

“Guys…I’m scared.” Whimpered Gohan.

“Hey, where’s the little hero who kept the dragonballs safe. C’mon Gohan, you’re braver than this.”.

Tanya rubbed Gohan’s head, and he calmed down immensely, but he still clutched tightly on to Tanya’s leg warmer. “Krillin, what’s the plan of action. We need to get stronger before the Ginyu Force arrives.” Asked Tanya.

“We need to get to Guru’s but we can’t move until these earthquakes stop.” Said Krillin, panic quickly setting in.

“Don’t you have one of those capsule cases like Bulma’s? It could have an underwater vehicle inside and we could make it a little further until the quakes stop.”

“Hey, that’s great idea.” Piped up Gohan.

“One problem, the only capsules I have is the car and the house. It would be too dangerous anyway with all the falling debris.” Said Krillin.

“Point taken. So the only choices are to either dodge the blasts, or wait them out. And right now, choice no. 2 is the most preferable to me.” Said Tanya.

“Agreed, we wait them out.”

They sat down and tried to ignore the blasts. Then, Gohan had to go into personal question mode. “Hey Tanya, are you and Vegeta boyfriend and girlfriend or something?”

Tanya nearly passed out with embarrassment.

~~~Meanwhile.~~~

A blast flew over head and shook Bulma away from the wall. She landed in Vegeta’s arms. Vegeta grabbed her as she fell into his arms, unconsciously holding her tighter as each blast went by. Soon the blasts stopped, and Vegeta hesitated a little before letting Bulma go. “Man, I’m glad that’s over.” Said Bulma, a slight blush covering her face.

“Don’t get too comfortable. Frieza will have probably sent out scouts to look for me and the dragonballs.” Said Vegeta.

“What do we do when they find us?”

“We do nothing. You hide somewhere and I’ll destroy them. I won’t let Frieza get the dragonballs, not after everything I’ve gone through to get them.”

Bulma stared at the Saiyan Prince, wondering how the hell she’d ended up in this situation with a homicidal Saiyan. Then, she remembered. Krillin had been too slow making a decision and Vegeta had taken her hostage until Krillin handed over the last two dragonballs. How Vegeta found out they were going after the other one, she’d never know. But until the guys came to save her, she was stuck. So, she decided to ask Vegeta some questions about his past. She figured her at least could talk to her, she was his hostage after all. “Vegeta, how come you’re in this Frieza guy’s army. You’re going through all this to defeat him but you’ve been in his army for a long time.” Said Bulma.

Vegeta was surprised at this. He couldn‘t believe she would have the nerve to ask him about that. But for some reason, when he looked at her eyes and saw her curiosity, he felt he should answer her. In a mean sort of way. “I didn’t have a lot of choice in the matter woman. My father handed me over to Frieza to save our world, and in the end it was in vane. From what I was told, my father stormed the ship in an attempt to save me. But he underestimated Frieza's power, and he…along with his men, were killed.”

Bulma decided it was best not to push Vegeta any further. She watched as Vegeta went into meditation and decided to work on a project to pass the time.

~~~Meanwhile.~~~

The three warriors were flying to Guru’s, thankful that the blasts had finally stopped and they could get moving again. Krillin and Gohan flew as fast as possible, and Tanya did her best to keep up. They stopped for a break on a tiny island. They sat eating while Krillin and Tanya discussed battle plans and tactics. “So, what can we expect from the Ginyu force?” Asked Krillin.

“Brutality of the worse kind. The Ginyu Force are Frieza’s band of ruthless killers, and his personal bodyguards. They destroy worlds and lives without remorse or care for what they are doing. At least 4 of them do not regret it at all, only 1 of them does.” Said Tanya.

“Who regrets doing all of Tanya?” Asked Gohan.

“Jeice. After what the Ginyu Force did to me, he took care of me. He would do anything to protect me. Not that I need protecting anymore.”

Tanya poked her ribs and winced. “Damn it! Still not healed!” Cried Tanya.

“Don’t worry, as soon as we get to Guru’s, Dende will heal you.” Said Gohan.

“Yeah. Speaking of which, we better get moving before Frieza or his boys find us.” Said Krillin.

Without a word or her consent, Gohan and Krillin each wrapped an arm around their shoulders and flew off with Tanya. “Guys, not that this isn’t appreciated, but you don’t have to carry me you know.” Said Tanya.

“Oh, we know.” Said Krillin.

“We want to do it.” Gohan chirped happily.

Tanya was surprised at the amount of kindness these two earthlings were showing her. She was not used to people being so nice to her, which was normal when you were born into Frieza’s services. She muttered a thank you to them and they flew on towards Guru’s.

~~~V + B’s hideout.~~~

Vegeta came out of his meditation. He sensed 3 power levels travelling at a very high speed. “It’s Tanya and the Earthlings. Where are they going?” He asked himself.

He stood up, alerting Bulma. “Hey, where are you going.” She asked as he picked up the two star Dragonball.

“Your friends are near by. I’m going to go tail them and find out what they’re doing.” Said Vegeta.

“And leave me here by myself! No way buster, you’re taking me with you!” Said Bulma.

“And if I don’t!”

“Then I’ll escape with all 4 of these dragonballs!”

“You wouldn’t dare!”

“Care to take that risk?”

“Risk? Ha, you’re no threat to me!”

But her words made a little sense, he wasn’t prepared to chance losing the dragonballs after all the hell he’d been through to get them. Without a word he grabbed Bulma by her waist and flew off into the air. Bulma wrapped her arms tightly around his neck as they flew after Tanya, Krillin and Gohan, to Heaven knew where.

~~~Frieza’s ship.~~~

“Sire, the Ginyu Force have entered Namek’s solar system and will be arriving in a few hours time.” Said a solider.

“Excellent, keep me informed.” Said Frieza.

“Soon, the dragonballs will be mine as will my wish for immortality. And after that, I’ll make sure Vegeta, Tanya and anyone else helping them, are caught and given a slow and painful death. And I know the perfect way for Zarbon’s whore of a daughter to die.”

Frieza’s shrill laughter filled the ship.

~~~Back to Tanya, Krillin and Gohan.~~~

A huge mountain top came into view. “There it is!” Shouted Krillin when he saw it.

“That’s Guru’s house? We’re finally here!” Shouted Gohan.

Tanya could only smile at the thought of relief from her pain. Suddenly, Krillin stopped. “Gohan, Tanya. There are two power levels following behind us.” He told them.

“It’s Vegeta, it has to be him.” Snarled Tanya.

Krillin removed his back-pack. “Gohan, go ahead to Guru’s with Tanya and have Dende heal her. Then, see if Guru can awaken your hidden powers.” Said Krillin.

Gohan nodded and sped off with Tanya towards the house. “I hope I can distract Vegeta long enough for Guru to help Gohan and Tanya. They have the capsule with the 2 dragonballs in and if Guru can awaken any hidden powers in them, we’ll be able to fend off Vegeta. I hope that we’ll be able to, cause if we’re powerful enough to defeat Vegeta, we might be able to fend off Frieza till Goku gets here.”

Krillin didn’t have to wait long for Vegeta to appear. But what he saw with him shocked him to no end. When Vegeta came to halt in front of Krillin, he had a dragonball in one arm… and a terrified looking Bulma in the other. Krillin looked from the dragonball, to Bulma, and back again. “So baldy, have you made your decision? The woman…or the dragonballs?”

“Look Vegeta, I don’t have them. Gohan and Tanya took them ahead. But to get to them, you have to get by me.” Said Krillin, getting into fighting stance.

“Krillin, no!” Shouted Bulma.

“Your very brave human…either that or your very stupid.” Said Vegeta.

“Take you’re pick Vegeta, but either way, you’re aren’t getting past me.” Hissed Krillin.

~~~In Guru’s hut.~~~

“So you see mister Guru, that’s why we need your help. We have to do something before the Ginyu Force arrives.” Said Gohan.

“They are virtually unstoppable and they are ruthless killers on the battlefield. Nothing will stop them from taking the dragonballs to Frieza. If the Ginyu take the Dragonballs to him, then it’s all over. ” Said Tanya.

“Then, something must be done to help you defeat them. Young man, if you would be so kind as to stand over here.” Said Guru.

Gohan walked over to Guru and let him put his large hand on his head. “I can feel tremendous powers coming from within you. But they are currently lying dormant. Allow me to awaken them for you.”

That was when Tanya felt Vegeta’s energy. “Gohan, we got trouble. Vegeta’s out there.” Said Tanya.

“Are his intentions pure?” Asked Nail.

“No Nail, his intentions is as dark as Frieza’s.”

“Then he shall not get past me.”

~~~Outside.~~~

“Krillin, you don’t have to do this. I’m not worth it.” Pleaded Bulma as Krillin prepared to fight Vegeta.

“I’m sorry Bulma but I have to do this. This has been a long time coming.” Said Krillin.

“Bring it on little man. Even with a dragonball in one arm and the woman in the other, I can still beat you.” Said Vegeta.

It was then that Vegeta and Krillin felt Gohan’s power surge. “So…that’s where the little brat is hiding. Am I right Krillin?” Asked Vegeta.

“NO! You’re wrong!” Shouted Krillin.

But Vegeta just powered up and flew off to the island, with Bulma in tow.

Tanya watched as Gohan’s energy was awakened. Gohan’s fingers twitched as he tried to get used to the power. “Kid, you OK?” Asked Tanya.

“I think so…” Said Gohan.

“I’ve never felt such energy. You’re packing a lot of power there Gohan.”

“And now you young lady.” Said Guru.

“Excuse me?” Asked Tanya.

“I would like to see if you have any hidden powers to awaken. Your powers will be very beneficial to the battle ahead.”

Tanya stepped over to the eldest Namek. He laid his large hand over her head. “Gohan, go with Nail. Watch his back.” She said.

Vegeta dropped Bulma as he landed. “Hey! Can you at least be a little bit gentle?!” She yelled.

Vegeta looked up at the house. “He’s in there.” Vegeta said to himself.

Krillin landed beside Bulma. “You OK?” He asked.

“Yeah, I’m OK.” Said Bulma.

Then they turned to Vegeta. “Bring me that dragonball! You here me? Come outta there!” He yelled.

Then they turned towards the opening door, and saw Gohan coming out, with Nail close behind. “Bulma!” Yelled Gohan.

“Gohan, I’m OK. Just focus on Vegeta.” Bulma called over.

“Shut up woman!” Yelled Vegeta.

Bulma cowered away. Vegeta then realised that Gohan’s power had risen quite a lot. “Alright kid, no more games. I want the dragonball and I want it now.” Vegeta demanded.

Gohan just stood there, not looking afraid. This made Vegeta very angry. He ran at Gohan. But something smacked into him and knocked him into the air. When Vegeta stopped spinning, he saw Tanya in her full cat form glaring back. She held up the capsule that contained the dragonballs. “Vegeta, we meet again. I believe we have something you think is yours. Why don’t you come and get them?” She sneered at him.

“With pleasure.” Said Vegeta cockily.

He shot towards Tanya while Tanya flew up to meet Vegeta half-way. They were about to connect when Dende called out to them. “Hey everyone! Guru says he can sense new powers heading straight for Namek!” He called.

Vegeta and Tanya stopped and looked towards the sky. “It’s my dad! It has to be! He’s finally here!” Shouted Gohan.

“Your Dad? It can’t be.” Said Tanya.

Vegeta concentrated harder. “Wait, that’s not Kakarot…not Kakarot at all! It’s got to be the Ginyu Force.” Hissed Vegeta.

Tanya growled a cat-like growl. They landed and Vegeta held out his hand to Tanya. “Look, we still have time. Give me the dragon balls and let me wish for immortality.” Said Vegeta.

Tanya powered down to her normal form. “But, we can’t…that would mean that our search was in vain.” Said Krillin.

“But you would still have 2 wishes left.” Said Nail.

They all looked at him. “Don’t you know that the Namek Dragonballs have 3 wishes?” He asked.

“3 wishes, you guys told me that they only had one.” Said Tanya.

“But that’s all our Dragonballs have.” Said Gohan.

“Look, we don’t have time to debate over this. Will you let me make the wish…or not!” Said Vegeta.

Tanya looked at Krillin. “It’s your call.” She said.

“…Let’s head over to the other Dragonballs. I’m not saying I’ll do it, but those balls need to be protected at all costs.” Said Krillin.

Vegeta grabbed hold of Bulma again, and flew off in the direction of the Dragonballs. Krillin, Gohan and Tanya shot off after him. “Is there any need for that Vegeta?” Shouted Tanya.

“You know, always a back-up plan.” Vegeta shouted back.

That was what he was telling them. He wouldn’t admit he grabbed her just because he liked the feel of her body against his own.

~~~Elsewhere.~~~

Frieza greeted 5 powerful warriors. Recoome, Burter, Jeice, Guldo and Captain Ginyu, all the members of the ‘illustrious’ Ginyu force. Frieza then began to brief them on their mission.

Next Time: The gang reaches Vegeta’s hideout and the Dragonballs. But before Krillin can make a decision, the Ginyu force arrives.
