Last time: As the fights continued, Tanya found out some unpleasant facts about her father. Jeice’s life was spared and Ginyu was defeated in the most unusual way.

How it all Began-Part 12.

Gohan sat outside with the Dragonballs, figuring that if Vegeta was sick, he would be the one to defend them. “I can’t believe this. What if Frieza shows up, I’m no match for him.” Said Gohan.

Tanya and Jeice landed near him. “Hey, what are you complaining about?” Asked Tanya.

“Oh nothing. I thought I was gonna be left on my own to defend the dragonballs.” Said Gohan.

“Not on your life little man. These balls are too valuable to be left unguarded. I know you can protect them, but protecting them from Frieza and protecting them in general are 2 very different things.”

“Right, I hear you.”

“So where did your bald-headed friend go?” Asked Jeice.

“His name is Krillin…and he went to get the password for us to actually use these things.” Said Gohan.

“Do you think he can get there and back in time?”

“I know he can.”

“So, until Krillin gets back, what do we do for fun? This watch gig is boring.” Said Tanya.

“I know! Let’s train for when Frieza shows up!” Yelled Gohan, jumping off the dragon ball he was sitting on.

“Alright, we’ve got nothing better to do.” Said Tanya, getting up and following his to the edge of the water.

Tanya turned back to see the forlorn look on Jeice’s face. “Hey Jeice!” Shouted Tanya.

Jeice looked up at her. “C’mon, we’ll make it a 3 way match.” She continued.

Jeice looked shocked, but got up none the less and went over to them.

~~~Inside the ship.~~~

Vegeta walked into the medical room where Goku was recovering in the tank. He stood in front of the tank as the water worked it’s healing properties on Goku. “Get well Kakarot, ‘cause I’ll need your help to take down Frieza. Then it’s your turn my friend.” He said.

He turned to the door as he heard it open. And his eyes widened as Bulma walked in, in nothing but a towel. “Hey Vegeta, have you seen my clothes. I left them outside my shower stall but they’re not there anymore.” Said Bulma.

“Why would I know where your blasted clothes are woman? But I must say, the view is certainly inviting.” Said Vegeta, scanning her up and down.

Bulma held the towel closed tighter. “What’s the matter Bulma? Ashamed of what I might see?” Asked Vegeta.

“Hardly, I’m probably the most interesting person you been in contact with ever since you got here. I only wanted to know where my clothes were because of my capsule case. I’ve got fresh clothes in there.” Said Bulma.

“You mean this?”

Vegeta reached into his armour and pulled out the capsule case. “What? How did you…” Started Bulma.

“I took it away from you, remember. It fell out of my armour while I was changing. I thought I’d better hang on to it.” Said Vegeta.

He held out his hand to give her the case. Bulma reached out to take it, when it fell to the floor. Then Vegeta fell to his knees after it. “Vegeta!” Shouted Bulma.

She kneeled down beside him to try and help him up but he just held up his hand to stop her. “Vegeta, what’s wrong?” She asked.

“Nothing…I’m fine woman.” Hissed Vegeta, trying to get up again.

“No your not, you nearly fainted Vegeta.”

“I’m just a little worn out. You try to battle the Ginyu force sometime, see how tired you feel.”

“But even I know that if you’re not 100%, you’re not going to be able to fight Frieza. Please, tell me what’s wrong. I only want to help you.”

“Woman, no matter how unwell I feel, I will fight Frieza and I will win. I only need to sleep it off and then I’ll be ready.”

Vegeta sat against the regeneration tank. He didn’t want to admit it but he felt like his head was on fire and his limbs felt like stone. He just wanted to fall asleep and not wake up again. He opened his eyes to see Bulma grabbed her capsules and leave the room. “It’s better this way woman. It’s too dangerous for you to be involved with me. No matter how much we may want it to be so. But I promise you, when I defeat Frieza, you will be mine.” He thought.

With that thought in mind, Vegeta let himself fall into blissful slumber.

~~~Outside of the ship.~~~

Tanya dodged the attacks from both Gohan and Jeice, who worked surprisingly well together considering they were fighting against each other only a few hours before. Jeice fired a fire ball at Tanya while Gohan went to sweep her feet out from under her.

Tanya leapt up to avoid Gohan and deflected the fire ball back at Jeice, who only just managed to dodge it. Tanya landed on her feet, while Jeice and Gohan were breathing heavily. “Oh come on. This can’t be all you guys have.” Said Tanya.

“Yeah well excuse me Tanya. I haven’t seen you in nearly a year, how was I supposed to know you’d gotten stronger?” Moaned Jeice.

“Well then, you have an excuse. But you don’t Gohan, I’ve been training with you for nearly 3 months now. You should’ve been able to take me on easily.”

“I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I don’t feel well at all.” Said Gohan.

Tanya went over to Gohan and felt his head. “You do feel a little warm, but you picked a bad time to get sick Gohan. We need you to be at 100% when Frieza shows up.” Said Tanya, reaching into her pouch and pulling out a vial.

“You still have that?” Asked Jeice.

“Yeah, I do. Here Gohan, take this. It’ll make the fever go away.”

Gohan drank the contents of the vial. “Yuck! What was that?” He asked.

“I’m guessing a mixture of Namekian herbs. I’m glad all those survival glasses you took when you were young paid off.” Said Jeice.

“I found a lot of these when I was going through the Namek elders houses. Frieza thought I was looking for the dragonballs but I was looking for these. Never knew when they would come in handy.” Said Tanya.

“But why does it taste so bad?” Asked Gohan.

“It’s only because it’s not from Earth. You’re used to herbs and food and everything else from your home planet. Trust me, you’ll feel better in no time.”

“Which is more than I can say for me.” Said Jeice.

“What do you mean?”

“When Frieza finds out I’ve betrayed him, I’ll be the first to die. I’ve never been happy with my life and I want the chance to change it. If I stay here, Frieza will kill me for sure.”

“We’re all feeling that way Jeice, but running isn’t the answer. If we did all run now, Frieza would just hunt us down for sure.” Said Gohan.

“I know kid. But that doesn’t mean the idea isn’t tempting.” Said Jeice.

“I hear ya. But it’s too late to run now. No matter where we go, Frieza would find us and he would destroy everything that gets in his way. Better we face him now and try to defeat him than get caught out later on. But for that, we need to be ready. Back to work Jeice. Gohan, join in when you feel better.” Said Tanya.

Tanya and Jeice began training again while Gohan sat by the dragonballs. “Maybe if we all work together, we can defeat Frieza. Me, Krillin, Tanya, Vegeta, Jeice and my father. We might have a chance to beat Frieza if we all stick together.” Thought Gohan.

~~~Meanwhile.~~~

“WHERE ARE YOU!? KRILLIN! GOHAN! TANYA! WHERE ARE YOU?!” Shouted Dende.

In a last ditch effort for the good guys to use the Dragonballs, Guru had awakened Dende’s hidden powers and given him the password. Then Dende had left to find them but he wasn’t having any luck. He flew onwards, trying to find any sign of them. “Yo!”

Dende spun around to see an armoured person flying at him. Dende got ready to run until the person came into view. “Krillin!” Yelled Dende, flying towards him.

“Man am I glad to see you.” Said Krillin.

“I was so worried about you.”

“What a relief.”

They then headed back to the ship.

~~~Inside the ship.~~~

Vegeta was sleeping peacefully, so much so that he didn’t hear someone come into the med room. Bulma knelt down beside him, unlocked a capsule. It was full of medical supplies and a bowl of cool water. She dipped it into the water and rung it out before placing it on Vegeta’s forehead. She smiled as she heard Vegeta’s groan, almost as if it was a relief. Vegeta opened his eyes to see Bulma open the first aid kit and open a bottle. “Woman, what are you doing?” Asked Vegeta.

“You have a fever Vegeta. No matter how much you sleep, it won’t go away. I’m trying to help you get rid of it so you can fight Frieza.” Said Bulma.

She handed him 2 pills and a bottle of water. “What are you, a doctor?” Asked Vegeta, taking the pills.

“No, I’m more of a scientist. But I’ve taken some medical courses. Pays to know a little of everything.” Said Bulma.

“And I see you got rid of that hideous yellow outfit.”

Bulma was surprised he’d noticed. She was now dressed in a white blouse and black jeans. Bulma then asked the question that had been plaguing her ever since they’d got the dragonballs back. “Vegeta, do you really think you guys have a chance against Frieza? I mean, everyone thinks he’s unbeatable and I’m starting to wonder if they’re right.” Said Bulma.

“Frieza is one the most powerful, megalomaniac’s in the universe. He would kill use all by destroying this entire planet if he wanted to. He’s a murderer of billions of people. But the only reason people thinks he’s unbeatable is because no one’s seen him be defeated yet. But after today, that will all change. No one’s unbeatable Bulma, some are just harder to beat than others.” Said Vegeta.

“You’re that confident you can beat him?”

“I am.”

“Then…I believe you can do it Vegeta.”

“Smart woman. Now leave me for a while, I must rest.”

“Actually, do you mind if I stay with you?”

“……If you must woman. Just keep quiet.”

Vegeta closed his eyes and was almost asleep, when he felt someone rest their head against his shoulder. He looked to see Bulma, already in a deep sleep. And even though he wasn’t used to having someone care about him, he made no move to push her away. Inside the tank, Goku was more surprised than anyone. “Wow. I never expected this. But, maybe this is a good thing.” He thought, before concentrating on Gohan and the others outside the ship.

~~~Outside.~~~

Gohan’s head perked up when he felt someone coming. “Tanya! Jeice! Someone’s coming!” He shouted.

“What? Who?” Asked Tanya

“I don’t know, I can’t make out the energy.”

“Oh no you 2, it’s Freiza, he’s come to finish us off!” Cried Jeice.

“Calm down Jeice will you? If it were Frieza, the energy would be much stronger.” Said Tanya.

The 3 of them flew up to see who it was. “Hey guys!!”

“Hello everyone!”

“Ah! It’s Krillin! And Dende’s with him!” Cried Tanya.

Tanya and Gohan flew up to meet them. Dende flew to Gohan and Tanya and hugged them tightly. “I was so worried about you 2.” Said Dende.

“We didn’t mean to scare you little man.” Said Tanya.

“Yeah, we’re fine. We beat the Ginyu Force and got all the dragonballs back.” Said Gohan.

“That’s wonderful. Guru and I were hoping you had.” Said Dende.

“How is Guru doing?”

“…I’m afraid it’s not good. We don‘t have much time before…”

Dende hung his head, until he felt a hand on his shoulder. “I’m sorry Dende, I truly am. I know Guru means the world to you. But if he sent you, then we must use the dragonballs as soon as possible. Do you know the password Dende?” Asked Tanya.

“Yes…I do.” Said Dende.

“Alright then. Here’s the…wait a second. Where the hell are Vegeta and Bulma?” Asked Krillin.

“Huh, oh, Vegeta went inside the ship and said he was going to take a nap. And that was over an hour ago. And I’m guessing Bulma’s in there too. She can’t fly out of the ship.” Said Gohan.

“Ah ha. Then here’s the plan guys.” Said Krillin.

10 minutes later, Gohan and Tanya were looking through the window of the ship, to see Bulma snuggled up to Vegeta, and Vegeta with his arm around her waist. “Oh my, look at them.” Said Gohan.

“There’s never a camera when you need one. This is a real Kodak moment.” Giggled Tanya.

“Is he still asleep?” Asked Krillin.

“Among other things.”

“Alright then, let’s get these dragonballs to that island over there.”

Krillin, Gohan, Tanya and Dende started grabbing the dragonballs. But as Tanya turned to Jeice, she saw him shaking. “Jeice, what’s wrong?” Asked Tanya.

“I…I can’t do it love.” He said.

“Can’t do what?”

“I can’t fight him, I can’t face dying. I just can’t!”

“Jeice! Wait!”

But Tanya couldn’t stop him as he turned and flew away. “Jeice. I understand. Please be safe.” She thought as he disappeared into the sky.

“What’s his problem? I thought he was gonna help us?” Asked Krillin.

“He’s not as strong as me and Vegeta, and he’s defiantly not as strong as Frieza. Jeice is afraid of dying, so he’s getting out of here while he still can.” Said Tanya.

Without a word, she went back to grab 2 of the dragonballs. They then flew over to the island as silently as they could, remembering that if they powered up too much, Vegeta would wake up when he sensed them. After a few more minutes, they landed safely. “Yeah! It’s finally time to make our wishes!” Cried Gohan.

“Man, I can’t wait to see this.” Said Tanya.

“Alright Dende, you’re up little dude.” Said Krillin.

Dende walked up to the dragonballs, but all of a sudden… “Guys, you feel that?” Asked Gohan.

“Yeah. It’s Frieza, and from the way that energy feels, he’s pissed off beyond belief. We better do this fast!” Said Tanya.

“Right.” Said Dende.

Then, Dende said the namekian password. For a few moments, nothing happened. Until the dragon balls started glowing. Then, the sky darkened and lightning flashed through the sky. Then, in massive surge of golden light, the dragon arose from within the dragonballs. This mighty dragon floated above them, the vision of power. “Oh wow, is this the dragon?” Asked Tanya.

“Yes, his name is Porunga, and in Namek, it means ‘Dragon of life’.” Said Dende.

“You who have summoned me, I will now grant you 3 wishes that are within my power.” He said.

“Alright!” Shouted Gohan.

“Oh yeah, 3 wishes instead of 1! What a deal!” Cried Krillin.

“C’mon guys, don’t waste time. You both felt the energy, Frieza’s on his way. And Vegeta could wake up any minute so hurry up and make your wishes.” Said Tanya.

“Oh right. Dende, could you please ask the dragon to restore the lives to all the fighters that were killed by Vegeta on Earth.”

“I…I’ll try.” Said Dende.

Dende began speaking in Namek to the dragon. “Your wish is unacceptable.” Said Porunga.

The 4 of them looked up in surprise. “Only one life can be restored for each wish you use.” He continued.

“Well you could’ve mentioned that sooner!” Shouted Tanya.

“You didn’t ask. Now if you can’t wish for something, just wish for nothing 3 times so I can go!”

“Man, a dragon with an attitude. I thought you guys said that dragon only spoke when he was granting wishes.”

“Our dragon does. So now what do we do?” Asked Krillin.

“Yeah, so one stays. But which one?” Asked Gohan.

“GOHAN!” Shouted a voice.

“What the…?”

“Gohan, can you hear me?”

“Ah, it’s Piccolo!”

“Piccolo? He’s the guy you told me about. He saved you on Earth.” Said Tanya.

“Yes Piccolo, we can hear you! It’s great to hear your voice again.” Shouted Gohan.

“It’s great to see that you’ve grown so much. Now, I have a wish I’d like you to make. I want you to wish me back to life first. If I come back, then Kami will as well, and so will the dragonballs on Earth.” Said Piccolo.

“Ah, I get it now. That way we’ll have plenty of wishes…” Started Krillin.

“To bring the others back!” Finished Gohan.

“Now for the second wish. For the next wish, I want you to wish me to the planet Namek. It’s my fight, it’s my people that Frieza destroyed and I’m the one that needs to make him pay for what he’s done. He has to die by a Namek’s hand.” Said Piccolo.

“That’s quite a mission there Piccolo, do you think you can get the job done?” Asked Tanya.

“I know I can. So are you guys clear on the wishes?”

“Crystal. We’ll see you soon Namek man. Dende, did you get all that?”

“Yes! I’ll make the wishes right now.” Said Dende.

Then he turned to the dragon to make the 2 wishes.

Sorry for the long wait guys. I know you’ve all been waiting for this. But a lot of crazy shit has been happening to me lately, so it’s kinda taken a toll on my writing. But I hope this chapter makes up for it.

One more thing. I’m still waiting for more votes for either Jin from Tekken or Dante from Devil May Cry. I know we’re all die-hard Dragonball Z fans here, but trust me when I say that one of these guys would be a great edition to the team.
