Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Inadequate ❯ Chapter Fourteen: ( Chapter 14 )
Goten was now right behind his marching crew. He started to pant heavily to make it seem that he had been running to catch up.
"Heh…hey…guys I finally caught up." Goten doubled over and pretended to wheeze. Goten heard mumbles of phases like `wow that was fast' or `damn it's like he flew'. Those muttered idioms only made him snicker in his mind especially the last one. The talking suddenly stopped and Goten looked up in confusion. The crew leader was beckoning his men forward. The leader gasped and burst through the forest at the sight of something. Another man turned and around with his face contorted in trepidation (I love that word) and gestured them to move forward. Goten saw what had frightened them so much. It was there camp. It wasn't in its normal, yet still frightening state. It was high up in flames; the tents were blazing high flickers of flames into the air. What was more foreboding was the vast army of white-headed hybrids marching forward upon the camp. From what Goten could see from on top of the hill only a few of the remaining soldiers from camp were still standing. One of the scouting crewmembers yelled something at him, but he didn't hear him. He was too busy staring at the dead body's that lay on the ground where the hybrids once marched. They had walked right over them. The next thing Goten knew the scouting team member had pushed him down the hill, and he was tumbling towards the vast enemy army. Goten landed on his back and stared up at the still densely cloud covered sky. Goten sensed something coming at him fast and rolled just in time to be missed by a ki ball. Goten saw someone waving him over. Goten ran down the slippery hill down to his allies small formation. He was somewhat relieved Spyre hadn't died yet, but at the same time he was made that he let all those soldiers die. Zaroff and Rand were also still alive and looking very nervous about fighting. Spyre looked like he wanted to say something meaningful, but he said nothing to him.
"Were going to die." Those were the first words from Spyre's mouth since he had left.
"Confident I see. With you we won't die." Goten said trying to raise the moral slightly.
"No…we are going to die, but we will fight to the last man. Don't run away." Spyre turned and drew his sword. He nodded to Zaroff who gathered the men into two short lines.
"Fight for honor and lay your lives on the line!" Zaroff yelled valiantly to his men. Goten saw his lip quiver slightly after that statement. Goten's attention was snatched by the hybrids pulling out their swords and letting out a fierce war cry. The hybrid lines had broken out into a run. As he saw the almost never-ending force Goten also began to lose his cool. He looked to his teacher for comfort, but to no avail his face was as empty as ever. Goten exhaled as their lines broke against the hybrids. Goten charged into battle slashing the first hybrid he saw in the face, and trying to make his way forward. He cut down one after the other. Only the clanging of swords and the sickening squelching sound of flesh being gored filled the air. Goten frantically looked for a soldier to fight beside, but didn't find one. Was he the only one left? Was he the only soldier fighting in this sea of blood? Goten let out a scream as he felt the tip of a blade skim down the back of his arm. He then felt the splashing of blood against his head. He turned around quickly and Saw Rand slicing down soldiers as he went.
"I thought I was the only one." Goten said as he fought his was beside Rand.
"Me too. There's too many, sooner or later I'm going to die." Rand said fretfully to his friend. Goten began to think he was right. Maybe going on this journey wasn't such a good idea. Goten split his sword into a hybrids skull as he began to think of the reason why he had come. Certainly this wasn't why. No, why would you come to a planet to die in a squirming sea of bloody bodies. Then it was true that there was nothing of importance to learn here. Goten glanced beside him, he expected to see Rand there. He wasn't anywhere to be found. Goten back tracked in search of him. Goten saw Rand leaning on his knee holding his chest. Hovering over him was a blade that belonged to a hybrid. Goten watched as the blade swiftly went down onto his friend and impaled him. Goten let out a scream of pain. Not only had the feeling of his friend being killed affected him, but also so had the stab in the back of the shoulder. Goten fell flat on the ground. He winced as the soldiers began to step on him and crush him into the mud with their feet. Goten felt something similar rising inside him. It was something fierce, primal, and familiar. Goten yelled out his fury and frustration. The ki that emanated off of him knocked the feet off of his body. The familiar sensation of Super Saiyan began to overwhelm him. It felt like his hair was being ripped up on his head. His eyes seared as they turned from black to green. Goten noticed something he hadn't noticed in his normal Super Saiyan transformation. In his aura there were small flicks of lightning bolts. The pulling sensation on his hair remained.
"Super Saiyan two…" He mumbled as he got up off of the ground. Some of the hybrids back off from him. Goten picked up his sword and noticed it began to glow with a super Saiyan aura as well. All at once the hybrids charged at him. Without even exerting much force Goten ran his blade through their swords and into their bodies. 5 soldiers fell in one slash. Goten roared with fury as he flew directly at the amassing soldiers. Anyone who got in his way he skewed them. Some of the hybrid force began to retreat and thin. Goten continued to give them all what they had coming, a good clean slaughtering. Blood from his sword and the dead bodies that amassed on the ground began to gather and coat Goten in a thin sheet.
