Vegeta Get a Job?
Pan had hardly slept the previous night, due to worrying about her babies and her own personal welfare. She could not bring up her children here. But with no money, she had little choice. Vegeta would never get a job. How could he ever take orders from a pathetic human employer? And let's face it; he had little or no human work skills. He couldn't even use a computer, as almost every human on this planet could. He had always survived off of the Brief's wealth, which of course he now had been indefinitely cut off for life.
She couldn't work either. Not in the state she was in. She was five months pregnant after all. She spent most of her day now, lying in bed, or sitting down. She couldn't even handle university anymore. Her education had gone as far as circumstance would allow. She had no money in a savings account, as some students did. At least her father had paid for her student studying fees.
Vegeta and she were only just surviving on fish, of which they had an infinite supply, from living by the sea. She was beginning to get sick of the fish, but she had little choice in the matter. She had to continue to eat for her unborn children, and she could only eat what Vegeta caught. A newborn child couldn't eat fish, they would survive on breast-milk for awhile, but the time would come when she would stop producing it.
There were still baby expenses to consider. They would need cots, blankets, clothes, a stroller and medicine to name a few, all required money. Something they didn't have.
Pan turned over slowly, propping the extra pillow under her leg to help relieve some pressure off her over-sized belly. She looked at Vegeta and was surprised to find him awake also.
“Hey,” he greeted her warmly. He slowly reached for her hand. He inspected the large bruise closely. It was now a deep purple. She cringed as he held her hand.
“It will be okay. It's nothing honestly. I've had a lot worse. You know that,” Pan argued as she pulled away protectively. She hated the concerned look he had on his face.
“Yes, but that was different. We were training, this is from a playful punch, meant to be nothing but a slight tickle, but look at the result. It looks like you punched a brick wall… and the wall won,” Vegeta smiled at the humor of his last statement. Since when would Pan ever lose against something as pitiful as a brick wall?
“Vegeta, aren't you concerned about how we are going to survive?” Pan asked him seriously, steering the conversation away from herself. She looked into his eyes, where she noticed the evident concern in his eyes too.
“I agree we are not very stable here,” He answered vaguely. After all he had become accustomed to the life he had been living in the Brief's mansion. It is true that he once endured a life far worse than this, but that seemed like a lifetime ago. Eating enough to survive; a nomad traveling from planet to planet and destroying them and their inhabitants as he went. The only decent rest or sustenance he received in that time was when he would return back to Frieza's ship to receive his next mission.
“We have no money,” Pan got out of bed. Vegeta got up and came around to her side of the bed. He placed a helpful arm around her waist to aid her.
“Yes we are severely lacking funds,” he helped her to sit at the table, before sitting opposite her.
“But what can we do? I can't exactly ask my parents for money, and we can't ask Bulma,” Pan looked out the window helplessly.
“There must be something else we can do?” Vegeta concentrated.
“Like what?” she knew he didn't have an answer to give her.
“Will you be okay for a few hours?” He stood up suddenly.
“What are you going to do? You aren't going to do something stupid are you? Don't hurt anyone, Vegeta,” Pan warned him. He quickly walked around the table and kissed her on the forehead.
“Don't worry, I won't do anything stupid,” He told her before walking out of the room. She sat back in her chair as she felt his power level traveling further and further away at great speed. Should she trust him?

Vegeta was reluctant to leave Pan alone, but he had to go to the city to try and find someway to raise money. He watched his reflection in the water below him slowly disappear as he looked down into the trees of the forest. After awhile he looked up to see the visible outline on the horizon of skyscrapers. He slowed his rate, upon noticing the sudden increase in air traffic. Several air cars were making there way into the city.
He finally arrived and touched down in the main street. A few people were surprised by this man appearing from the sky suddenly. He growled in frustration as one woman came rushing over to ask if he was okay, after he seemed to have fallen from a great height.
He despised crowds, and being the weekend, the streets were filled with people shopping. Dozens of giggling teenage girls were rushing in out of the shops trying to get that perfect outfit at a low price. Of course where there are female teenage girls, teenage males were not far behind. Chatting up the girls, beeping their horns at them from there cars, or just basic ogling. The teenage male population of this planet annoyed Vegeta to no end.
He had noticed the way that these `boys' would look at his pupil, a few years back. He had wanted to keep them away from her. They didn't deserve her. No one had ever deserved her. Now he realized that he had been the only one deserving of her love. Even then, did he really deserve her? After everything he had done in his lifetime, was he really entitled to such a great reward?
Vegeta finally stopped outside a shop window. It was a hardware shop, but he hadn't noticed that yet. In the window, printed neatly out on paper stuck to the inside of the window was a sign:
“Help wanted. Inquire within”
He stepped back onto the curb to gain a better view of the small store. There he stood for a few moments thinking about his options. They were desperate for money. But could he face working a menial job? Could he become a nine-to-five worker? He growled to himself in frustration.
Vegeta was suddenly interrupted by a chorus of loud yelling and cheering. Curious to find the reason why, he followed the sounds down the street further and down a side street. He pushed his way through crowd and watched.
“Come on you sissy's!” A man yelled out. Vegeta still wasn't sure what was going here. The man was reasonably tall, yet somewhat overweight. He clearly had money as he was wearing a designer suit, yet the color of the suit was an undesirable magenta. He had a harsh fake tan, which made him glow a shade of orange. His watch was gold, along with all the other jewellry draped upon him.
“Is no one here man enough to stand up to the legendary Jack?!” The annoying man bellowed out again.
Vegeta heard a few men standing nearby talking about an invincible fighter, a man who couldn't be beaten, the strongest man on earth. Vegeta looked up onto the small stage and couldn't help but smirk. Sure the man was huge, but his power was only fifteen. Of course it was impressive for a human, but nonetheless pathetic.
“Ten million, to anyone who can beat him!” The man yelled out excitedly. Vegeta's ears pricked up at the mention of the prize money. The whole crowd seemed to cheer. Everyone present wanted to witness the fight of the century.
It was if his body wouldn't listen to his head. His body longed to fight. The battle lust was pulling him to stage. He knew he shouldn't. He could kill this man by just touching him. But the prize money was too good to pass up. He was desperate.
“Ladies and gentleman, I believe we have a challenger!” The man yelled out to the eager crowd. Vegeta watched the crowd below him scream and cheer.
“Now have you got the thousand zeni to enter?” The man spoke privately to Vegeta with his hand over the microphone.
“What? You never said anything about an entry fee. I don't have that kind of money just lying around,” Vegeta was beginning to get annoyed.
“Well you can't fight without the fee. Sorry mate, but if don't have it, you're going to have to get off my stage,” The man was getting frustrated. He did this job so he could rip people off. If no one paid up, he wouldn't gain any money from the venture.
“Wait, what if I made you deal?” Vegeta was getting desperate.
“I'm listening,” The man amused himself, as he crudely rolled up the sleeves of his suit jacket.
“When I win…” Vegeta was cut off by the man's sudden laughter.
“When? You…you tiny man are going to bet this man?” He laughed as he pointed at the fighter.
“Listen here, because I'm not repeating myself.” The man stopped laughing. “I will beat him, there is no question. It would take me one second, believe me. If you front me the thousand zeni, I will give you quarter of the winnings,” Vegeta was getting angry, and he was desperate enough to give up two and half million zeni. Hell, half of that would solve his fiscal dilemma.
“How do I know you will win? What if you lose?” The man pushed the issue.
“You needn't worry. I will not lose,” Vegeta smirked. The man laughed again as he slowly put his hand into his jacket pocket ready to fish out the dirty money.
The crowd suddenly began to roar. Vegeta couldn't understand what was going on.
“It's Hercule! He's here! He's come to beat Jack!” The crowd screamed in unison. Vegeta turned to watch the pathetic warrior walking through the crowd as it parted. Hercule reached the stage and was surprised to notice Vegeta standing there.
“Hey Vegeta, what are you doing here?!” He yelled out concerned. Vegeta watched him angrily. How could Pan be related to his idiot? Hercule stormed up to Vegeta worried about what he was witnessing.
“Hey, he must be one of Hercule's students!” Someone yelled in the crowd. Everyone seemed to cheer in excitement. The man holding the event removed his hand from his pocket immediately. Vegeta growled in frustration. Hercule's student? That was insane.
“Hey man, this guy is your student?” The man who they called Jack was suddenly concerned about his odds in winning.
“Don't be a fool! I am not his student!” Vegeta yelled angrily. He was further angered as Hercule suddenly grabbed his arm.
“What are you doing? You can't fight this man, you could kill him,” Hercule was trying to understand was Vegeta's intentions were.
“I don't know, I was thinking about it,” Vegeta answered smugly as he pulled his arm away.
“But why? You know you will win. Where is the challenge?” Hercule wouldn't let up. Vegeta just shrugged. “It's the prize you want, isn't it,” He figured it out the obvious himself.
“What would you know, old man?” Vegeta growled angrily. Hercule backed away slowly fearing for his well-being.
“Why do you want money so bad?” Hercule asked seriously, from a safer distance.
“They haven't told you?” Vegeta was surprised. Surely Videl had told her father about his granddaughter's relation with him.
“About Pan? Yes they told me,” he answered reluctantly.
“Then you understand, she's pregnant, we have nowhere to live. We need money,” Vegeta felt so small explaining his pitiful situation.
“Well let me help, if there's something I have a lot of its money. She's my family, and if she needs my help in anyway, then I'm there,” Hercule spoke proudly. Vegeta nodded. He understood. Yet surely he didn't approve of their relationship.
“Okay,” Vegeta agreed.
“Well where is she?” Hercule was anxious to see his grandchild. It had been almost year since he had last seen her.
“I will tell you the co-ordinates to where we are staying, but I will meet you there. Pan should know that you are coming,” Vegeta told him simply.
“You could me directions from my car. I can drive us both there,” Hercule answered. Vegeta growled frustrated. “ But no, your way sounds better,” Hercule backed down. He didn't want to get Vegeta angry, he valued his life too highly.
“Ok listen up, it's in the area West 982. It's a small place on the shoreline,” Vegeta slowly started to leave. “See you in an hour,” He called back. Hercule nodded.
“Hey wait man! Are you gonna fight Jack?” The annoying announcer yelled.
“He's not even worth my time,” Vegeta smirked before taking off into the sky at full speed toward home.
