A New Home
Pan watched as the sea disappeared behind them. So many times she had used this path in the last months, and now this would be the last. She quietly worried to herself what Vegeta was doing. She understood that he would not get in the car with her grandfather, but she thought he would at least follow behind them.
“Pan? Are you okay?” Satan asked her concerned as he glanced over to his passenger.
“Yeah, I'm fine,” she smiled weakly. Satan placed his hand on top of hers lovingly.
“Are you really? Your whole life has been turned upside down. I mean what about University, are you still going to pursue that with children? You're so young to have to deal with children,” Satan just wanted to understand her current state of mind.
Pan looked at her grandfather. “Grandpa…I really am okay, well apart from some of the side-effects of this pregnancy. I was never really sure about what I wanted to get out of University. I was never going to be the student with aspirations of being a doctor or a lawyer or an accountant, in fact for the short amount of time that I was actually there, all I could think about was training,” Pan explained.
“Was it because you wanted to train, or because you wanted to see him?” Satan asked almost angry. Pan pulled her hand away.
“You aren't happy for me are you?” Pan snapped. Satan looked at her sadly.
“I want you to be safe, that's all,” he sighed as he returned his eyes forward to see where he was going.
“Well I am safe. I couldn't be safer with anyone else,” Pan answered.
“I'm sorry Pan, its just we all had such high expectations for you. It's difficult to see you in the situation you are in,” He tried to make her understand.
“Did he force you? Was pregnancy what you wanted? Was it planned?” Satan could no longer hold in the questions that were plaguing his mind. Pan looked at him angrily.
“Do you really want to help us, or do you feel obliged to provide for me?” Pan snapped back. Satan looked at his grand daughter in shock.
“Pan of course I want to help. I don't feel obliged. I want to. Your parents have nothing to do this if that is what you are getting at,” He turned to face her again.
“That's not what I was getting at,” Pan answered, without turning to look at him.
“I'm just trying to understand, Pan,” Satan pushed again. She turned to face him.
“I was not forced. We both had feelings for each other, but the other didn't know. At my birthday I left the party for awhile to lie down because I was tired. I woke up to see him sitting beside me. That's when I knew he felt the same way about me. We went and trained for a bit and then it happened. He made his move and I was his. My dream had come true. We have been inseparable since that night. Is that what you wanted to hear?” Pan questioned him as she watched him closely.
“So he made the first move?” He spoke quietly.
“It doesn't matter who made the first move, don't you see that? We both wanted it,” she answered frustrated.
“So you both wanted to have a child together?” He pushed further. He wanted to understand fully what had taken place. Pan held her stomach tightly.
“Okay the truth is we weren't planning this, but we are both extremely happy. We are going to be a family. This relationship has cost us both our families, but it has given us our own new family. All we really need is each other,” Pan smiled as she looked down at her stomach.
“Pan you will always have your parents, and you will always have me,” her grandfather tried to reassure her.
“No my parents made it very clear, when my father said he had no daughter, and my mother told me to get out of her house. They are no longer in my corner. I only have Vegeta now.”
“Pan I'm in your corner. I've always been in your corner, and I always will be,” Satan tried to convince her. Although he would never really understand her choice, he wanted her to be happy.
“Then what is with all your questions?” Pan asked, not really convinced.
“I just want to understand your choice.”
“Understand? Are you saying you will never approve? You will never be happy for me?” Pan was becoming upset. Satan stopped the car mid-air.
“I'm sorry Pan, I can't approve of this relationship. He is older than Goku, your grandfather, and you have put your whole life on hold for this man. You are starting a family with this man and you are only 20. Vegeta has just deserted his family, how can you trust a man who does that? Pan I'm just worried about you. I love you, and I don't want this to destroy you. I want you to be happy, truly happy, but I am worried about your safety and your health,” Satan tried to make his granddaughter understand his point of view.
Pan looked out over the mountains trying to sense Vegeta's power level and whether it was close before she turned to Satan. “Grandpa, I am happy, truly happy. I love Vegeta and he loves me. As for our age difference you are basing it on earth years? You have seen Vegeta and my grandfather; Saiyan's don't age at the same rate as humans. He looks as if he is only ten years older than me. Who knows how long the life expectancy is of a full blooded Saiyan? As for him deserting his family, he doesn't let on, but it pains him that he had to leave them behind. But he loves me and that's the sacrifice he had to make. We both had to make. The Saiyan bond between us was too strong. I know I'm only one quarter Saiyan, but Vegeta says I have the heart of a full-blooded Saiyan. He says I'm more Saiyan than even my father or grandfather. This relationship will not destroy me. It has made me stronger. I am safe with him. Safer than I have ever been. I love him with all of my heart. I would die without him.”
“Pan…” Satan didn't know what to say. He just looked at his granddaughter closely. He loved her, but he was deeply worried for her. He started the car again, and looked back at her. “I will always be here for you, you know that right? You have grown up so fast, maybe too fast. I can still remember, as if it were yesterday, when you were a little girl, how I would always take you out for ice-cream. You would always get as many flavours as possible and they would be piled sky high. I was always amazed at your appetite, but then you are a Saiyan. You would always eat it too fast, I would warn you, but you never paid attention, and you would get the inevitable ice-cream brain freeze. That was so long ago, but then it doesn't seem so. I didn't mean to upset you. If you are happy, then I accept that,” he finished as started off toward her new home again.
“Thank you. I am still that same little girl, I've just grown up. I can still remember the ice cream trips too and I will continue the tradition. I will take my children for ice cream, you could even take them sometimes. I love you, and I appreciate everything you are doing for us,” Pan calmed herself finally as she rested her head on his shoulder. She was getting a little tired and weak again from all the excitement of the day so far.
~~~~~~~~
Vegeta searched for Pan's power level, although weak, he could still pick it up with a little help from their bond. Their bond, meant they could sense the other and how they were feeling. For the last half hour Pan had seemed angry which had him concerned. Maybe he should not have left her alone with her grandfather. He was obviously talking to her about something that made her angry. Satan must have been talking about him.
Vegeta locked onto her position and speed off toward her. The trees in the forest went speeding passed, as did the lake filled with tiny boats, he quickly flew over. He followed a small river weaving intricately through the countryside, until he reached the mountains.
He should have taken Pan to their home himself. Sure it would have been rough going with her current state, but he could have made it work. He could tell that she had finally calmed herself, and he started to relax he passed over the vast canyon beneath him.
This was going to be a whole fresh start for them, and their growing family. In a few months he would be a father again. He was never truly interested in the birth of his first child. Trunks was an accident, both he and Bulma knew that, but Trunks would never know. Only after meeting the Trunks of the future did he begin to take an interest in his son. Only after realizing the potential of his son did he start to care.
His second child was no accident. He had watched his son grow and was impressed with the strength he possessed, especially while fighting Buu as a child. But when his second child was born a female, his curious interest evaporated. All hope was lost with a female half-breed. Even back on Planet Vegeta the females, although strong in terms of comparison with earthlings, were still far weaker than male Saiyan's.
However when Pan, a quarter Saiyan, approached him for training his interest was sparked yet again. If a half-breed such as her father possessed a power far greater than any full-blooded Saiyan at the mere age of eleven, and even his own half-breed son, Trunks, a Super Saiyan at eight, was a trend emerging? Was it possible that this tiny girl held the possibility of being the strongest of them? Even if only a female?
His interest sparked, he chose to train her. His expectations were continually blown away. With such a being as Pan as the mother to his children, and he a full-blooded Saiyan, the potential was indescribable. They could be the strongest warriors to ever live in the entire universe, both inn other world and land of the living.
Needless to say, the impeding birth of his two children was constantly playing on his mind. Although excited, he was deeply concerned for his mate and her apparent deteriorating health. With each week that had passed she had become weaker and weaker, until she became but a shadow of her normal self. The girl he had trained to the point where she was one of the strongest warriors on this planet, for that same girl to be bedridden for the majority of each day, was something he had found difficult. Her usual sassy come arrogant attitude, which he fell in love with, had dwindled to be replaced with a reserved and depressed demeanor.
Vegeta was hoping that once the children were born she would revert back to her normal self. It was hard to watch her change, and knowing that she hated it, but he was unable to help her. He had also stopped training in the months of late out of respect for her. It wouldn't be fair to continue their training with her being absent. He knew she longed to train. She had always loved the buzz from transforming. She loved the feeling of complete relaxation after finishing a session. He had halted training, even alone, knowing that she would be missing out.
Vegeta speed up as he felt Pan's ki nearing. He had closed the huge gap rather quickly. He smirked to himself proud of his speed.
~~~~~
Satan started to slow and make his descent. The area was near East City, on the outskirts of one of the rural suburbs. There weren't many houses around, which Pan noted for the future. Raising two Super Saiyan's, well she could easily assume they would be, would be easier if there were less people around. She watched anxiously as the number of houses dwindled to a mere handful.
Pan suddenly tossed her head back and looked back to the horizon. She could feel Vegeta's ki quickly approaching. A broad smile crept across her face as she turned around to watch where she was going.
“He's close?” Satan asked indifferent. Pan ignored the tone and nodded. “Well we should arrive soon,” He tried to manage a smile.
“Okay, well he will probably meet us there then,” Pan smiled. She was minutes away from starting his new life. It was exciting. Satan looked over to his grand daughter to see her smiling.
“Okay then,” He answered. Finally the houses disappeared and the landscape opened up to a clearing with a forest in the distance. It was all very similar to where she had grown up with her parents. Satan began to bring down the car and slowed to a crawl.
Pan sat up anxiously, waiting to catch a glimpse of her new home. She watched as a van shot ahead in front of them on the ground. She followed it with her eyes until finally she found what she was looking for.
A small two storey white brick house came into view. There was no fence, and no real landscaping apart from grass in all directions surrounding the house and continuing on for as far as she could see, or where it meet the forest.
“I see the men have finally arrived,” Satan spoke up as he too the truck speeding along the dirt road. He looked over to Pan to gauge her reaction. She was crying. “Pan?”
“It's perfect. It's so beautiful and quiet out here,” Pan sniffed. She was so happy. It had been so long since she felt this happy.
“I knew it's what you would want,” he smiled before leaning over and hugging her, as they floated above the property.
Pan suddenly pulled away as she felt Vegeta. She looked toward the house to see him land on the front lawn. Satan gently landed before jumping out and helping out his granddaughter carefully.
Pan ran to Vegeta before throwing her arms around him excited. He picked her up and swung her around before allowing her to touch the earth again. “It's ours!! All ours!!” She squealed like a child. Vegeta smirked as pulled away to look into her eyes. She was almost herself again, only if only for a moment. He looked up to see Satan approaching after giving them a few moments together alone.
Pan turned to see her grandfather nearing and ran toward him before throwing her arms around him. “Thank you. Thank you. Thank you,” she chanted in between kissing him on the cheek. Satan laughed happily. It was just like old times.
“You're welcome Pan,” he laughed warmly.
“It's perfect,” she smiled. Satan took her arm and turned to face Vegeta.
“I guess I should give you the grand tour then,” Satan spoke up as he lead Pan toward the house, and passed Vegeta, who then followed behind.
Satan opened the door and inside there were men running around frantically moving furniture around as well as boxes and fixtures. But Pan ignored all of this as she focused on her new home.
Upon walking through the front door they entered a small entranceway. Satan led them to the left into a large dining room. Inside was a large mahogany dining table with six leather upholstered chairs. Pan smiled widely as she wondered passed and stroked the wood of the table. Vegeta followed both grandfather and granddaughter silently. It wasn't that he was unimpressed, but he was used to such grandeur at Capsule Corporation. He kept his eyes to the new charcoal colored carpet as it changed to a light wooden surface.
“This kitchen is huge!” Pan snapped Vegeta back to attention. Satan smiled as he watched her. Pan ran to the deep steel and tried the water as if she were still an easily amused child. The bench tops were dark, thick stone and all appliances were stainless steel.
“I suppose this will have to do,” Vegeta almost sighed as he opened the fridge disappointed. He was not impressed with the size. He was a Saiyan, as was Pan, not to mention the near arrival of two more.
“No need to worry Vegeta, I have seen you and Goku eat, I was aware of your situation with food. Out back is a VERY large refrigerator, stocked with food. There is also a third fridge, in a room I'm saving until last to show you both,” Satan assured him as he left the room and entered the hallway. Pan looked at Vegeta and smiled before hurriedly following after her grandpa. Vegeta took one last look in the fridge, before reluctantly closing it. He was nowhere as excited as Pan right now.
Vegeta ignored both Pan and Satan as he passed them in the hall. They were inspecting the laundry and next the bathroom. He continued down the hall to the very large lounge room.
Inside were deep blue couches, all pointing toward a huge widescreen television mounted on the wall. Beneath was a neat little fireplace for the winter time. He was impressed with this space. The television for starters was larger than the one in Capsule Corporation.
“You like the TV?” Satan laughed as he made it into the room. Vegeta didn't turn to look at the old man, but grunted his weak approval.
“It's huge,” Pan smiled, as she took her grandfather's arm. He smiled down at her lovingly, before again, but not on purpose, looking at her protruding stomach sadly. Vegeta stepped toward them.
“Where are the bedrooms then?” He snorted as he pulled Pan to him. Pan noticed the look in her grandfather's eyes as she held to her mate.
“Upstairs,” Satan righted himself. “Follow me,” He motioned as he walked passed them.
The stairway was covered in the same charcoal colored carpet up to the top where it continued down the hall. On the left was the large master bedroom. In the centre of the room was a large king sized bed, covered in black covers, with white pillows. Satan could not bear to even look at the bed. Knowing this older man and his granddaughter would lie together in it, made him feel quizzy. Off to the right lead to a large ensuite, with a Jacuzzi bath in the corner. The room was coved with white tiles.
Coming back out of the room and into the hallway, Satan pointed out that the room at the end was another bathroom. To the right and opposite the main bedroom were two doors. Pan held tight to Vegeta, knowing of course what they must be.
“And these are the final two bedrooms,” Satan mentioned as he entered the first. The room was crisp white with a bassinet in the corner by the window. Not much else was set up. The same with the second.
“This is amazing,” Pan wept happily.
“I left the two rooms white, so you could decorate them appropriately after they are born,” Satan mentioned.
“You mean for boys and girls?” Pan asked.
“Well yeah, once you know the sex of both children you can paint them both. I even have paint lined up that you can choose from. They are all outside,” Satan smirked reveling in his own brilliance.
“We are having one male and one female,” Vegeta stated simply.
“How do you know that?” Satan questioned knowing that it was impossible that Vegeta had ever taken Pan to see a physician during her pregnancy.
“I can sense it,” Vegeta again put it simply.
“It's true, he can. We even have their names picked as well,” Pan tried to handle the situation. Satan nodded.
“Well that all makes sense I suppose,” Satan smiled weakly. “Okay well there are a few more things to show you, and then I will get out of your hair so you can settle in,” he continued as he walked out of the room and down the stairs.
Coming back down the stairs and through the lounge again, Satan led them both to a closed door, a room they had not entered yet. “Okay, this one is my surprise,” Satan smirked before reaching for the handle and slowly turning it. He stepped back so they could see and go in before him.
“Oh my God!!” Pan squealed as she quickly let go of Vegeta and wandered around the huge room. “This is amazing,” she turned around and around trying to take it all in.
“Well I'm a little impressed that you would think to do this,” Vegeta smirked at Satan.
The room which took up half of the bottom floor of the house was a training room. Everything they could need. Satan had obviously gone to a Capsule Corporation facility to acquire some of the items such as the training bots that Vegeta had used when training for the androids. Free weights and weight machines were in the far corner. A large mirror had been placed along wall, almost like a dance studio, so they watch themselves train.
“Although, I'm guessing there is no gravity machine, which of course is what we need the most,” Vegeta smirked again, yet to himself, pleased to find a fleur. Pan looked angrily at Vegeta. How dare he not be impressed? Her grandfather had done all of this for them, and when he didn't even approve of their situation. However there was no denying that he was right. Sure all of this would be helpful as she trained in the beginning, after giving birth, but after that, well…Vegeta was right.
“Yes I did realize that, Vegeta. But this is really for the basics, and I don't doubt you will be training the twins, and this would be best to start them off don't you think?” Satan argued.
“I do plan on purchasing a Gravity Machine for you both, but with Capsule Corporation currently the only manufacturer of such a good, and they only have one in their possession you can see how it will be difficult,” Satan reasoned. Pan understood what was happening. Bulma was blackballing them. Surely she must know that Satan, her grandfather, was purchasing it for her, and Bulma hated Pan more than anyone else on this planet, well except Vegeta of course.
“I understand Grandpa,” Pan looked to Vegeta sadly. Surely he realized their predicament. Bulma would never manufacture a Gravity Machine for them.
“Maybe if her precious Kakkarot asked for one,” Vegeta walked toward his mate. Pan looked surprised. When would Vegeta ever ask her grandfather for help? He was his rival. Would he break down those walls for one of the machines? Vegeta placed an arm around her waist.
“Would that work?” Pan questioned as she leant her head against his shoulder. She was becoming tired. She knew she would have to lie down soon, if not take a nap. Vegeta could feel her energy dissipating.
“Bulma would have to believe it was for him,” Vegeta though aloud. Pan nodded.
“My Grandpa can't lie though, she will see through it,” Pan sighed.
“Worth a try right?” Vegeta pushed, even looking to Satan for back up.
“Depends how badly you want it, but there's no harm in trying,” Satan tried to agree with the older warrior. Vegeta smirked as Pan suddenly slumped against him.
“Pan?” Vegeta held her up, closely to his chest. Satan immediately ran to aid his granddaughter. She moaned softly, yet not in pain.
“Is she alright?” Satan asked concerned as he watched her closely. Vegeta nodded as he began to walk out of the room.
“She only needs rest. This pregnancy has taken all of her strength. She has no energy anymore. She needs to lie down for a few hours and then she will be okay. It has been a long day for her,” Vegeta reassured him, not knowing why he did, or why he felt obligated to even explain. Perhaps he truly appreciated the aid this man had given them today.
Satan nodded, he understood. He had noticed her weakness today. It was quite evident after always seeing her training, or full of energy. “You better take her upstairs then,” Satan insisted. Vegeta nodded as he picked her up in his arms and started the climb upstairs to their new bedroom. Satan watched for a few moments noting how careful he was with her, nursing her head away from the wall. He turned and walked into the kitchen.
Vegeta followed the steps up the stairway, before turning to the left again into the master bedroom. He softly placed her on the bed before pulling the blankets over from the other side of the bed to cover her. She moaned gain softly.
“Thank you, I needed to rest,” Pan whispered. Vegeta smiled and nodded silently. He placed his hand on her belly as he felt his tiny offspring moving around in the womb. He couldn't help but smile. He already loved these children, and he hadn't even met them. With his other hand he slowly moved some hair out of her face so she would be comfortable. Suddenly he quickly whipped his head around. Satan was standing in the doorway with a tall glass of water.
“Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. I just thought she may like some cold water,” Satan felt embarrassed, and frankly afraid that Vegeta would destroy him after he saw the vulnerability he just showed. “I think I will just leave you too alone. I um… left a number by the phone, if you think of anything you may need, just…ah…don't hesitate to call,” Satan stumbled as he bought the glass to the bedside table and hurriedly, yet quietly back out of the room. Vegeta simply nodded, as Pan dozed finally getting the rest she deserved.
Sorry it took so long everyone. I finished exams and then I jetted off to Japan for almost a month. I'm still going through all my Japan stuff (photos and films) but I thought you all desperately needed a new chapter, so here we go. I hope you all enjoyed.
Any criticism or praise is deeply appreciated.
