Chapter 22 - The Truth Is To Be Ashamed Of
Bulma waited awhile before she was sure Vegeta wasn't going to return, before she sat up and got dressed as quickly as she could. She surveyed the room quickly and hurriedly, looking for things that she might want to take home. She picked up her bag and looked inside. She saw that there was already some small inventions and bits and pieces she had already. She thrust in some bits she wanted to keep, like notes from around the room and the picture of herself - looking young and carefree - and her friends into the bag. She clasped the scouter to her ear and opened the door and smiled as she felt the pressure less and less each time she went outside. She breathed deeply and looked forward to being home again, even if it meant she could not see Vegeta again. She went over her route in her head as she planned to stop at several planets to avoid them following her, although it was obvious where she was headed. Maybe for the good of her friends she couldn't return home. She quickly snuck into the dark corner of the docking port and checked the time. She realised that to be the best friend to her friends she couldn't return. She decided to go to some planet in a galaxy far away so Fureiza would never find her, so she was safe from them. However, in finding her absent, they might go to earth anyway expecting her to go there, and end up killing her friends. At least if she went she could give them a warning. Her mind drifted as she imagined what would happen if Yamcha and Vegeta ever met. She winced inwardly.
Vegeta hurried to hall where Fureiza was waiting with Nappa. He walked in and looked around, taking the situation into hand. Fureiza sat in his chair and Nappa and Raditzu stood before him, with Dodoria and Zarbon either side of Fureiza.
"Where were you? What took you so long?" Zarbon asked, darting a quick look at Dodoria who nodded and walked towards Vegeta.
"I was hungry. I was in the middle of eating." he said simply, bowing to Fureiza and taking his place next to Nappa before Dodoria could reach him. Zarbon laughed and Dodoria snorted and stood behind Vegeta, blocking him in.
"Before we get to that, I have a mission for the 3 of you. The fact there is another Saiya-jin annoys me, how one could have eluded me. I want you to go and retrieve him before he poses any threat to my plan. Go, and bribe him hither since he seems so simple minded. Kill his family and friends if needs be to convince him." Fureiza said, looking pointedly at them.
"We could bring the head of the inventor onna, as incentive. Isn't she his friend?" Nappa asked, looking to Raditzu and Vegeta for support in this. Fureiza let his eyes flicker to Dodoria, which Vegeta saw and began to feel a little uneasy.
"I don't think that is really necessary. However, speaking of incentives, I feel that you all haven't been taking these missions seriously at all. This isn't games or opportunities to get stronger or delude yourself about the Super-Saiya-jin. They are all integral to my plan and I have to warn you that you are all expendable. But, I find you useful so I think I'll just keep you around for awhile, though you do need motivation. This motivation is derived from my hatred of the way you consider Vegeta to be your leader, your prince. I am your leader, your lord, your King. I think that you all need to learn the truth about Vegeta, and see how much you respect him after that. Follow me." Fureiza smirked, stood and walked towards the door, before looking back and motionning for the others to follow, Zarbon and Dodoria walking either side of Vegeta so he couldn't move. Vegeta could apprehend what was about to occur and dreaded it, he didn't see how he could have any respect from Nappa or Raditzu after this. They walked along the passageways and past Bulmas' door, without so much a hesitation, which through doubt into Vegetas mind, and made him feel all the more confused.
