~~`` Chapter 8 Bleeding Hearts
Bulma dropped down in the wooded and mountain forest. She sniffed around a bit and found the trace of her mate. His ki was too low to read. Her son laid rested in the cave.
She followed the scent of him. That intoxicating aroma he always had, even when he was all sweaty or all clean, his smell was just indescribable.
Bulma gasped lightly. Her mate stood by a little lake. The moon shined down upon him, perfectly contrasting all of his fine chiseled muscles. His bare chest, his sharply cover arms, his thick thighs, his perfectly shaped legs…All of it, just begging to be touched. The light blue power floated around his body, sculpturing all of his frame.
His head snapped towards her. The aurora immediately dispersed. "Who's there?"
Bulma shrunk back into the bushes. She just wanted to look upon him without having the full blown attack waiting for her once she showed her face. "I know you are there. No sense in hiding."
[Damn..] Bulma slowly and reluctantly crept out of her hiding. She could not see any of his features for the darkness over took it. The light showed her frame.
He growled at the image of her. He snapped his head away in disgust, "Leave."
"No."
"Then I will," he turned on his heal-
"No!" He stalled.
"I have nothing to say to you."
"Then just listen."
"You have nothing that deserves my attention."
"I used too," she whispered heartbrokenly.
"Yes, well you were the one that destroyed that."
"And I'm sorry. I never--"
"I will not listen to this shit." He started to go..
Bulma had to do something. She had waited 6 months for this… "I called upon the dragon." She blurted. He stopped near the woods opening implying he was listening. "I asked if I could undo what I had down to you but Shenlong said it was impossible to change the past…So…I did the only thing I could think of."
Vegeta turned slowly to her, his eyes caught something. It swung lazily behind her… "What did you do?" He growled.
"I asked to become Sayian…"
"Why?"
"Because I know you always wanted me to be. I wanted to do something that would make you happy. I thought that--"
"Now that you are no longer human and no longer weak, I would want you again." He stated with a sigh. She nodded but flinched when his image was suddenly before her. He leaned in and brushed his cheek against hers, nuzzling her skin, "You knew I never cared of that Bulma." He purred. "And I do not care now." He suddenly pulled away, "Your wish was for nothing." He bluntly turned and walked away,
"No, please, Vegeta. Doesn't this prove to you I would do anything for you? I need you. I love--"
"If you 'loved' me you would not have fucked another male." Still with his back to her.
"Vegeta, that was a mistake"
He growled turning to her. "As was wishing to be Sayian. I did not care what race you were. I did not care how weak you were, Onna. I unwillingly wanted you. Your feelings for me were the only thing I needed to know what I made the right choice for a mate. But my thoughts were wrong as my father was right again. Never trust anyone, Never feel for anything."
"No that's not right, Vegeta"
"That was what I thought, Bulma. When I first touched you I knew my father was wrong. But then you, my bonded mate, the only one I trusted enough to have for my own, betrayed me far worse then anyone has ever done, including my father. So tell me slut, how was my father wrong when you have proven how right he was?"
"Because he didn't know love, Vegeta. If he did he would have wanted you to feel it. He would have wanted you to have it, Vegeta. I mean look at you now. If I have never shown you love, Vegeta, how do you think you would be right now? I know it hurts but remember all those times before, that is what love is. Every time I woke up with you, every time I laid down with you, what if all that never happened? You have never been so content with your life as you were. And believe me, it would have been so much worse then this feeling of betrayal. You would have been so lonely. As would I.--"
"I will not listen to this." He began stomping away again,
"Then why have you stayed?"
His form suddenly stood in front of her again. Bulma stood unfazed and gazed helplessly into those endless black orbs. His fingertips lightly touched her face starting from her cheekbone going down her smooth jaw bone then gliding across her lips. She lightly opened them in passion. "Because even now." His voice was calm and deep, " I want you. You are my bonded mate. I can never get rid of that…And gods…I want to." Bulma shut her eyes and lips tightly in the pain those words caused. "You are the one at fault, little one. But every way I put it, I cannot help but think I was the cause of it. I was the reason you needed comfort from another male. I was the reason you ruined everything only because I could not give you what you wanted. What you needed. But, Bulma I thought you understood. I have no choice. Love is not an option for me." Her eyes opened, letting a tear escape down her face as their eyes were together again, "the other way I see it is this is my punishment for all the wrongs I have done. For all the killings I took part in. For treating you the way that I did…"
"No, Vegeta this was not your fault. None of it--"
"Then why, Bulma. Why?" He pleaded as he continued to nuzzle her cheek.
Bulma's mind replayed Goku's words, 'There's a reason for everything…'
"Because…" He nuzzled her cheek again with his. Their lips almost touching. Bulma shivered as his hot breath released on her skin, "Because…he loved me." Vegeta dropped his hand, growling low in his throat while turning his head shamefully away. "Veg--"
"You may take your son. My revenge is complete." He jumped in the air and flew hard and fast away.
~~~~~~`````
Bulma watched her lover go from her sight. A desperation to go after him flowed through her body. Bulma kept it at bay as his words rang through her ear. Her son…
The word 'revenge is complete' did not register in her head as she slowly and almost tearfully made her way to the cave holding her little baby boy.
Bulma stepped in making little sound going closer to his resting ki. Even in this darkness her eyes could see his form from the sheets that covered his small frame. The sheets wrestled. "Trunks? Honey, it's me." The body slowly slid off the opposite side of the bed. The light from the fire only showed the side of his dark features. "Trunks?"
"Where is my father?" His voice was gruff and demanding.
Bulma's eyebrows furrowed. How come he didn't run to her? "Trunks?"
"Where is my father?" He asked again a little louder.
"He left for a while. He said I can take you home with me. Won't you like that, sweetie?"
"I am home."
"No, Trunks it's not. It's a cave!" She laughed.
"It is." He stated proudly.
"Trunks, what's wrong with you?"
"Nothing. I feel better then ever."
Bulma went to step around the bed but the boy automatically stepped away. "Trunks? What's wrong? Don't you remember me? It's mom."
"I have no mother."
Bulma was taken back by this. She hasn't been gone that long. "Yes," she said hurtfully, "you do. I'm here."
"She is dead to me. As I might as well be dead to her."
"What is that suppose to mean?" Anger rose a bit.
"What do you think it means, bitch? She is dead."
How did he know that word?! Who knows what Vegeta had put into his tiny head. "No I'm not." This game was getting old.
"To me you are."
"Why?"
"You left."
"Only because Vegeta needed you."
"Father needed you more then he ever needed me. But you left us for your own selfish reasons."
"I did not--"
"You mated another. You left!"
"He…He told you?"
"In more ways then one."
"Oh…Kami…" Bulma held her head, while shaking it in disbelief, "This…This was his revenge." He knew she didn't want her son hating her for ruining her family. That was her biggest fear. Her son…
"What?"
"Nothing." She swallowed back the lump that unwillingly formed in her throat. "Come on Trunks. Let's go home." She couldn't breath, couldn't stand. Bulma just wanted to crumble to the floor and beg to die. Her son hated her. Her love hated her, everything was gone…
"I am home."
[I don't have time with this!] Bulma yelled in aggravation, "Listen Buddy! I don't have time to deal with your attitude problem! You are coming back with me weather you want to or not! You father does not want you here all by yourself! You are only 6 years old and you think you are capable of taking care of yourself which you are not! I am your mother weather you are mad at me or you hate me! Now COME. ON." Bulma grabbed his arm and pulled him out of the cave then taking to the air. Trunks pulled his arm away and flew on his own, folding his arms angrily across his chest.
~~~~~````
Bulma sat on her balcony, staring out into the dark night up at the stars. The one that Vegeta had showed her once before many years ago, didn't seem so unfamiliar to her even if it no longer existed.
Tears rolled down her face but she made no move to stop them. This was the first time she cried since Vegeta left her with Trunks over eight months ago.
Trunks. Vegeta did something to him that appeared impossible to reverse. He still never called her by Mom, in fact he didn't call her by anything since he won't even talk to her. She'd ask a question, he would blow it off. The only thing he seemed to do was train. Not in the GR of course, because Bulma had cut it down. He just glared at her for that and became even more distant.
She didn't know how to get him to talk. He was so stubborn. Bulma tried everything, from bribing, to begging. Nothing worked. His eyes were so dark. So dark. At times, she actually felt threatened.
Threatened by her own child. Bulma bitterly laughed. Sayians…
That's what she was…Hold on…An idea! Bulma eyes widened and a smile crept on her face. Perfect…[Now why didn't I think of that before?]
{Think of what before?} The deep, husky voice that she knew so well sounded in her head. She snapped her eyes this way and that looking for him. It was then that she felt his ki behind her. She stood, wiping the tears off her face and fixing herself up a bit, she turned. Vegeta.
Their eyes burned into each other. His body only illuminated from the moon outside. His scowl present as his arms were crossed over his chest.
Bulma let a small smile grace her lips, "Vegeta…"
"I come to tell you I will be leaving this mud ball planet and I am in need of a ship."
Her smile faded. "You're leaving?" She choked.
"I have no reason to stay here."
Her mind searched for any reason for him. She knew not for her and not for Trunks… "The tournament. It's in two years. Will you be back for that?"
"Depends."
"Goku is going to be there."
"The ship."
Bulma stepped away from her chair and went in, up to him, "Vegeta, please don't leave."
"The whore is asking a favor. One she will never receive." Her eyes averted down in disgrace. She really was a whore… "You did this. You do not deserve anything but guilt." He spat.
Her teary eyes quickly went up to his, "Don't do this. Vegeta, please. I can't take it anymore. I have nothing without you. I want my life to be with you. Forever"
"I don't."
"So that's it? After all that we've been through…You want to throw it away over something so meaningless?"
Not effected by her tone, he stated calmly, "You did."
"Oh, Kami. Vegeta please. I love you. I need you. I'm sorry please." Bulma sobbed to him as she dropped to her knees. Covering her face with her palms, hating her tears but held no power to stop them from falling.
Vegeta closed his eyes in pain. [This is her fault. Hers. She deserves the pain.] Vegeta slowly opened his eyes to gaze sympathetically down upon her. [Onna…] He stepped up to her and kneeled down. Vegeta brought her form into his arms. Bulma sobbed louder as she rested her face into his chest. Vegeta buried his head into her neck, taking in her scent he missed so much. He would allow himself once more to feel her before he left for, how long? He didn't know. "No tears, Onna. You are not hurt."
"My heart is." She sobbed out.
"Calm now. You are getting so weak. You are a Sayian now. Sayians do not tear."
"All races weep when their heart is broken."
"I must leave, Onna." Vegeta pulled away from her.
"No, Vegeta please." Bulma held on his arm with all her strength.
"Goodbye, Bulma."
"No…" Vegeta pulled out of her grasp and went to the window, Bulma ran after him, "Vegeta!" She grabbed his arm pulling him back to her, "Please, if you must leave me forever," She sniffed, "Make love to me just one last time. Please, let me feel what I will never have again, so I will remember what I had lost." She begged him with her teary eyes. Bulma slowly and hesitantly brought her lips up to his. She brushed them against his. He didn't respond. "Please." She begged against his mouth.
Vegeta brought his hand to cup her cheek. He pushed their lips together in so much need and want. Her arms wrapped around his neck while his wrapped around her waist pulling her body closer to him, letting his tongue grace her lips. Bulma sobbed half moaned as she let him enter her mouth, pulling his body closer. Tears streamed down her face while their tongues blended together. She felt his thumb wipe her falling tears away. He then gently pulled away. Vegeta rested his forehead on hers as she caught her breath, "I can't. I can't." He breathed painfully. "Every time…I see him."
Bulma sobbed out, "Vegeta. I never meant hurt you." She groaned
"I never meant to bond to you. But both happened." Vegeta pulled away. He turned to the window and just before he jumped out, he brought his gaze back on his ex-mate. Her eyes so puffy from crying, tears falling freely on her cheeks. She still looked so beautiful. Vegeta went off…
Once he dropped out and was off the campus, Bulma dropped to her knees. Her hands curled into fists in her lap, letting the tears drip down upon them. Her face hardened. Sayians do not cry. As her last tear fell, she rose her face to the sky above, no longer was she going to cry. She will not lose what is hers. She would fight if that would mean he would come back to her…She will give in to her instinct and reclaim everything.
