Disclaimer: I don't own DBZ. Akira Toriyama, Toei Animaton, Funimation, and other affiliated parties own it, and I making no profit whatsoever on this work of fiction.
A/N: Okay! Yay it's a new chapter. I'm sorry about the delays; these chapters seem to be getting further and further apart. Part of the problem is I had most of what is posted written out before I typed it. Then, I decided to take a little break because of stress, but I have returned with the conclusion to this story! Yes…this will be the last chapter, but do not be sad! I will be posting a new fiction soon! You can also read Blaze in the Dark, my other Goku x Vegeta fiction, which still has much to be told, as it is only about halfway done.

Vegeta didn't sleep. He just lay in his bed and looked up at the ceiling while unwanted thoughts, feelings, and memories endlessly drifted through his head. If this had never happened, what would have become of Vegeta? Why was it over before it really ever started? Why would Kakarot say something like that? He sounded like he meant it, but how could that be? Where did the lies end and the truth begin? Why did Vegeta care? Why was this keeping him awake?! Why did any of this have to happen?! A sudden urge to leave and never come back to this awful place overcame Vegeta. He seriously contemplated taking off. He most likely would have left a lot sooner if the younger Saiyan hadn't made him feel wanted here as long as he had. There was nothing here for the prince. His children were grown and had their own lives; they barely came to see him in his solitary wing of the building. Had he been a bad father, or were they just too busy for him?
Unable to take these tormenting thoughts plaguing him any longer, the Saiyan went to his kitchen and ransacked through everything there looking for alcohol. If he couldn't think about anything but things that bothered him, he would just have to drown out the thoughts with liquor. Succeeding in his mission, he found a bottle of something, he didn't care to look at the label to identify it, and gulped it down in a few seconds. Whatever else that was alcoholic in the cabinets was gulped down quickly as well. The unstable prince easily downed four bottles of whatever. The effects came within a matter of minutes. He became very dizzy, feeling as if one step would cause him to loose his balance and fall over. The prince's vision started to blur. Everything looked like a blob of paint mixed together; it was impossible to tell where one thing started and another began. As the Saiyan tried to walked to the couch, rather than his bed because it was obvious he overdid it and couldn't make it to his bedroom like this, he stumbled and ended up practically dragging himself to the couch like he had no legs. Finally making it to the couch, he collapsed into the soft cushions. Hm. It smelled like him. That was about the only thing Vegeta had time to think before passing out cold.
The usually very upbeat savior of Earth woke up from his slumber, the rising sun shining in his eyes. The events of yesterday shot through his head. How could this have happened? Vegeta must have come outside when Goku was yelling at Gohan, and heard something that made him mad. What could it have been? The Saiyan pondered on this for a moment, recalling parts of the conversation.
“I don't even understand what you see in him. Don't tell me you care about him?” Gohan spoke in a very patronizing way.
“What if I do? Gohan, you are being so closed-minded. I don't care about him at all, I'm just here because I feel obligated, I can't WAIT to go back home… Is that what you think I'll say if you pester me enough?! Well, guess what? I care about Vegeta and I'm not going to let you stand between us! You're just going to have to stop being childish and accept the truth!”
In the middle of Goku's sentence, Gohan smiled in a way that made his father uneasy, almost as if he'd won the argument. But he hadn't…right?
“Why…are you smiling like that?” chanced Goku, asking his son about his odd behavior.
“Why don't you go back inside? My work here is done,” said Gohan before flying off into the air.
Goku didn't understand what his son meant, but he turned around and headed back to see Vegeta.
And then the argument happened.
It was starting to make sense. Had Vegeta stepped outside at just the right moment, could it be possible he only heard the part Goku said about not caring and not wanting to be there? If he'd heard only that, the reaction the prince had given him when he returned would be very logical. This was awful. No wonder Gohan was smiling like that! What a disaster. What could Goku possibly do to make Vegeta see that this was all a misunderstanding, and fix this whole thing? Not to mention there was a bigger problem ahead of them if they did get through this; how could they make Trunks and Gohan see how they felt, and accept them rather than resent them? Now matter how long he thought, nothing came to mind.
Shoving those thoughts and worries aside for now, the Saiyan got up and went to the bathroom. His reflection in the mirror was awful looking. His eyes were bloodshot, and there were stains from the tears all over his cheeks. In an attempt to make himself look better, Goku showered and afterwards rummaged through the medicine cabinet for some eye drops to help his eyes. Food was next on his agenda; then he was going to get this whole mess fixed no matter what he had to do.
Awake. Just great, why could the prince have just never woken up? It was completely obvious to the Saiyan now. There was nothing left for him here. If he couldn't have the other Saiyan close to him, there was no one left to comfort him, and to keep him from going insane with the possibility of becoming the way he was before; just a killing, heartless, beast. Yes, after all these years he'd finally come to fear what he used to be, resent and hate it even. Though he knew it wasn't his fault entirely, it still bothered him sometimes. All that being said, should he even get up at all? Well, at least then maybe he'd be able to do something to blur out his depressing thoughts. The prince got up and, trying not to pay any attention to the splitting headache that suddenly came over him, went to clean himself up and pay a visit to his old friend that he'd seem to have forgotten until last night, alcohol.
Yes, later that day Vegeta returned to the bar he'd once been a regular at to have a drink. Naturally, after not seeing the Saiyan regularly for a while, the bar tender was curious as to why he'd taken a break, and why it looked as if something even worse had happened to Vegeta after he returned.
“Hey…V? Where have you been? Are you okay?” asked the barkeep.
Vegeta really didn't want to talk about it, but a lack of an explanation surely wouldn't serve to satisfy this human.
“I had someone who I thought I could trust; someone who could be there for me no matter what, but it turned out that he didn't even care about me at all…so here I am.”
“Oh. I'm sorry about your misfortune, then. Here, have one on the house…” said the bar tender as he slid Vegeta a drink.
Happiness ensued after a few drinks. That is if you consider happiness to be the bliss of ignorance drowned in alcohol until one cannot tell what is good and what is tragic. The prince stayed for awhile, and had a couple more drinks, but soon grew tired of this, realizing that intoxicating himself would not help him forget what had transpired between him and Kakarot. So, he left to go find something else to drown his thoughts and heal his heartbreak.
Vegeta found himself at a place he'd almost forgotten up until now. The very familiar gravity chamber he used to spend most of his time in; the seven years the other Saiyan was dead came strongly to mind in that regard. The prince remembered how he'd resented the other Saiyan for the longest time for dying like that and refusing to come back. Some part of him cared about Kakarot even back then, but he wouldn't let anyone know that. Vegeta took his shirt, shoes, and socks off, and slowly began to punch the air while he took a moment to recall his usual warm-ups. His thoughts were scattered over that and Kakarot and the prince just couldn't concentrate, so he made up a new warm-up. A couple of hours went by and the prince had gotten very intense in his training. He had turned to gravity up to 300 times normal and he was starting to feel the strain. It had been too long since he'd last done this.
Suddenly, just as Vegeta was sending a swift punch in the air, someone appeared in front of him to receive the punch. The other Saiyan had used that annoying trick of his and now he'd landed on the other side of the gravity chamber, with a rather bloody nose. Shock and concern shot across Vegeta's face for a moment before he remembered he shouldn't give a damn about the other Saiyan. Then again, he kind of felt obligated to help him out a little bit, since the prince did punch the living crap out of Kakarot just now. The prince reluctantly went over to the other Saiyan and reached his hand out.
“Come on, get up…” said Vegeta as Goku grabbed his hand and was lifted to his feet by the prince.
The two went inside and Vegeta got a damp rag to clean off the younger Saiyan's nose. The prince grabbed Goku by the chin with one hand and cleaned off the clumsy Saiyan's bloody nose with the other. He took such tender care as not to hurt the other Saiyan, and also took care not to make eye contact. Vegeta couldn't have himself getting all mushy like he had before; all it seemed to do was get him hurt.
“You have impeccably bad timing…did anyone ever tell you that?” said the prince as he walked away and disposed of the bloody rag.
“You're the first…Vegeta…We need to talk…”
“I have nothing to talk about to you. Why don't you just leave now, before I punch you on purpose?” The older Saiyan turned to go upstairs, but his arm was grabbed by Goku's hand.
“No, Vegeta. I won't leave. Listen to me…What happened yesterday was a misunderstanding; I know it must have been. Can't we talk it out?” Goku's voiced made a desperate plea to the Saiyan prince.
“Kakarot…There's been no mistake. We've been fools, can't you see? Even if there is an explanation for what you said, and I listen to it and forgive you, there are still people who will be unhappy. We can't be. This whole thing…it just won't work. So please, leave before anything else bad happens…” Why was he saying that? Vegeta wanted so badly to forgive him, and he knew deep down there was a good reason for what happened yesterday. So why wasn't he forgiving him? He just couldn't live like this, with their sons pushing them and pressuring them not to be together.
“Vegeta…you're the one who can't see…you can't see how much I care about you. I don't give a damn what our sons try; it won't work as long as we know how we feel about each other.”
Goku turned the other Saiyan around and looked straight at him. Vegeta's eyes were flickering with emotion; the younger Saiyan knew then he'd reached the prince with what he said. Goku leaned towards Vegeta and gave him a deep kiss. The older Saiyan returned the kiss after a second of reluctance.
“Tell me what you said to your son?” asked Vegeta to the younger Saiyan.
Goku took a moment to explain exactly what he had said to Gohan in detail so that the Saiyan prince would be able to see where he'd misinterpreted what the younger Saiyan said. After the explanation, it all made sense, he hoped.
“So…are we okay now?” asked Goku.
Vegeta nodded and Goku hugged him tightly.
“So, Vegeta…What happens now? I think we've established that our feelings are beyond that of a friendship…would you like to clarify for me what you would call us?” Goku stayed close to Vegeta, his lips only inches from the prince's as he spoke seductively and savored every second to have the older Saiyan back in his arms.
The Saiyan prince took a couple of steps up the stairs so he was taller than the other Saiyan, and tugged the younger Saiyan's shirt towards him, “Don't speak now,” he said before locking lips with the awestruck Goku.
The prince pulled Goku behing him up the stairs, soon making it to his bedroom, but not without the younger Saiyan loosing his shirt, and shoes along the way. Goku was a bit shocked as the other Saiyan suddenly pushed him onto the bed, pinning him down and takings his lips into another kiss. The prince licked Kakarot's lower lip seductively, and was met with the younger Saiyan's tongue in response. The older Saiyan was a taken aback when Goku suddenly rolled them over, finding himself pinned by the other Saiyan now. Vegeta let out a low purr of pleasure at the sudden boldness of his companion.
“What do you think you're doing?” asked Vegeta with a hint of sarcasm, breaking their kiss.
“I think that is obvious, Vegeta.” Goku knew well that this remark would spark the other Saiyan's stubborn anger, and it was provoking he did on purpose.
“Is that how it's going to be? Who said you could pin me down? I wasn't done with you yet,” responded the older Saiyan with more sarcasm, but also a hint of anger.
“I said so.” Immediately after responding, the younger Saiyan laced his finger through Vegeta's hair, bringing him into another kiss.
Goku then removed both of their pants in one swift movement shocking the other Saiyan just a bit. The younger Saiyan urged Vegeta to turn over, and he obliged, now on his hands and knees. The prince jumped, a shiver of pleasure rolling down him as the other Saiyan stuck a finger in the tight quarters of his entrance. Goku couldn't help but be amused by the pleasure overcoming the prince as he moved his finger in and out of the tight hole for a minute while it loosened slightly.
The younger Saiyan then took his finger out of Vegeta's entrance, and placed his hands on each side of the prince's hips, pulling him closer to meet his hard erection. He eased himself in nice and slow, imagining that it would hurt at first for the prince, his suspicions confirmed as the prince hissed. After a moment, he then started moving slowly in and out, gradually quickening his pace, finding that Vegeta moved his body with his own. They both let out unconstrained moans of pleasure as Goku continued to move in and out of Vegeta. The prince started to stroke his own erection in time with the younger Saiyans movements, his body twitching and moaning almost uncontrollably now with the waves of pleasure surging through his body.
Suddenly, within not even a split second, Vegeta reversed the roles. He had Goku pinned firmly against the bed, legs wrapped around the prince's torso. How he'd managed to do that so quick was beyond the younger Saiyan. He must have been pretty out of it to let that happen, or he'd gotten rusty over the years and Vegeta was now faster than him.
“What do you think you're doing, Vegeta?” asked Kakarot with a pinch of sarcasm at the predicament he now found himself in.
“Did you really think I would let you have your way with me that long, Kakarot? Honestly, you misjudge me sometimes… What am I going to do with you? Maybe I should make you pay for that presumption…?”
Vegeta moved his hips against Goku, teasing him until he made the younger Saiyan go mad by the looks of it. He then plunged into the other Saiyan, his motions rough, yet gentle. The younger Saiyan couldn't help but let moans escape from his lips. Vegeta showed now mercy as he moved gradually quicker, a torturous ecstasy for Goku.
“Lovers.” Vegeta said just that one word, proceeding to take the other Saiyan over the edge as he began to stroke his erection at the same pace he moved in and out of him.
“Hn?” Struggled Goku to speak, but it only came out as a half pleasured moan, half questioning noise.
“You asked…what I would call us…” Vegeta spoke softly, just above a whisper into the other Saiyan's ear.
“Lovers…” Goku repeated, taking in and contemplating the word just as he felt his release spilling onto his belly, and Vegeta's release inside him.
-The next day…-
The two Saiyans sat comfortably together on the couch having been enjoying the pleasure of each other's company most of the day when there was a knock on the door.
“Come in.” Said Vegeta, relaxed, not really caring but also knowing who it would probably be.
It was Trunks…and Gohan. Goku and Vegeta had been expecting they may show up soon, so it didn't really come as a surprise to either of them. Neither of them made any effort to move from their current position; The younger Saiyan laying on the couch, legs spread so Vegeta could lay with his back up against him. Goku had his arms around Vegeta. Their sons blushed at the sight of their father's so comfortable together.
“So…It's true, then? You're still…” said Gohan, a bit angry and disappointed that his efforts hadn't achieved the desired results.
“Yes we're `still'. Whatever that means. No thanks to you.” The prince spoke angrily towards Goku's son.
Gohan looked like he was ready to start the fight back up again, but Goku interfered.
“Gohan, Trunks…Listen. Vegeta and I are happy being together. We enjoy each other's company, we relate to one another. Do you really think it is your place to interfere with the happiness of two very able to take care of themselves adults, who happen to be your fathers? We aren't trying to replace Chichi…or Bulma. We are just trying to make more happy memories, so for us there will be no more sorrow…”
Gohan and Trunks looked at each other, pondering for a moment. Neither of them knew what to say, but they knew that more scheming wasn't going to solve anything. Perhaps their fathers' being together wasn't such a bad idea, if they were happy?
“Father…It is okay with me. I've been thinking, you know… At first I thought this was something that had been going on all along, and maybe you were glad to be rid of mother, but when I really thought about that I knew you wouldn't do that. I trust your judgment, father. I am sorry about the additional pain I have caused you.” said Trunks, being the first one to break the silence.
Gohan was still hesitant to give his apology, but he came around after a moment.
“I guess Trunks is right, dad. Sorry for what I did. I'm just glad you're happy. You've been so off since mom passed away.”
Their sons said goodbye and were soon on their way out.
“So, Vegeta…what now?” asked Goku as he leaned in to kiss the prince's neck.
“Hm…How about no more sorrow? I like the sound of that,” said Vegeta as he moved to close the gap between them, touching his lips the Goku's in a deep and passionate kiss.
-FIN-
A/N: This is the end, everyone! Thanks so much for reading and supporting this fan fiction! Make sure to check back in the future for new projects, as I still have many ideas floating in my head! I have decided there will be an alternate ending. This is the everyone is happy ending. The other ending isn't going to be so smooth. I will probably be posting it in a new chapter as an epilogue. Stay tuned for it to be coming soon!
