Chapter 5: Kierma
Goku rose into the air as Vegeta and Ryujin powered up.
“Ready to be defeated, woman?”
“Not yet!” Ryujin launched forward, aiming a punch at Vegeta's face. He blocked and Ryujin started a series of punches and kicks that faintly surprised Vegeta with their fierceness.
“So that's how you want to play, is it?” Vegeta smirked and launched his own attack, still blocking hers.
They continued this way, vehemently blocking and attacking until Vegeta landed a powerful kick, knocking Ryujin straight into the air. She almost stopped herself before she remembered she wasn't allowed to fly.
She executed a perfect backflip in the air and started firing ki blasts at Vegeta as she fell. If she couldn't fly, neither could he.
As she landed, Vegeta emerged from the clearing dust, firing returning ki blasts.
Ryujin diverted all of them easily. They stood facing each other, and Ryujin noticed the scratched spots on Vegeta's armor. “Aww… Did you get burned, Vegeta? I'll slow them down for you next time…”
Vegeta snarled at her as he attacked. “I can handle anything you've got, woman.” He grabbed both her wrists and drew her face close to his. “The question is, can you handle what I've got?” He smirked, and in the split second Ryujin was shocked and wonderful lusty images filled her mind, he kicked her in the stomach.
Ryujin skidded across the ground a good 75 meters. “Damned males,” she muttered. “Damned rut.” Time for some strategy. So she remained on the ground to lure Vegeta closer.
Sure enough, a moment later, he did exactly that she wanted.
“Well, well… That was an easy victory.”
Then Ryujin suddenly rolled over, firing ki blasts at Vegeta. After he had been blasted into the ground, Ryujin got up and strode over, but kept her guard up.
“I must admit, you caught me off-guard, Vegeta. I'd forgotten how lewd Saiyan males can be. Don't count on it happening again.”
Suddenly he darted up and around her and they exchanged blows, both pushing the set power level limit. They finally paused in their fight, eyes and bodies locked.
“Well, that was a pleasant warm-up, don't you think?” Ryujin smirked at him.
“I agree.” Vegeta smirked back. “But I'm ready for a real battle.”
An evil smile crossed Ryujin's face. “As am I.”
They stepped apart and Vegeta called up to Goku. “That was a nice limit for a warm-up, Kakarott, but let's start the real battle, shall we?”
Goku paused, considering. “Level one. Wherever I am sets the altitude limit.”
The two instantly flared to Super Saiyan and leaped at each other, punching, kicking, throwing ki blasts and launching into the air. They clashed and parted alternately throwing each other to the ground and pummeling with ki blasts. They seemed evenly matched at first, each giving as good as they got. But after a while, the scales started to tip, and Ryujin's lack of experience with the Super Saiyan form started to show.
She had reached the form about a month ago, seeing the other two fight with such power and striving to attain it for herself. But she still hadn't mastered it. It hadn't been long enough for her to build up her endurance to maintain the level of Super Saiyan. The tide was slowly turning in Vegeta's favor, and she knew it. She fought on, feeling Vegeta's confidence rise every second.
She was starting to tire fast. He landed a kick to her stomach, causing her to double over in pain before sending her crashing to the ground with a hammer blow to her shoulders. The force with which she hit the ground knocked her out of Super Saiyan, and so she let her power level keep dropping. She took advantage of the cover the rising dust cloud gave her and dashed toward the forest, pushing her power level down, down, down.
Vegeta looked down at where Ryujin had fallen. `Silly woman…' He scowled at the slowly clearing dust. `Where is she? I can't detect her ki anymore. But she can't have simply disappeared…' He spied her near the forest as the dust continued to settle. `There…' He smirked as he slowly lowered to the ground. Her ki was nearly undetectable, but it was still there. He could still sense it, and that was all that mattered.
He dropped from Super Saiyan and dashed off to follow her. `The hunt is on, woman, and I will have you.'
