Chapter 1 - It Begins

At first

The former King of Planet Vegeta was dead. Frieza had killed him as he tried to reclaim his only son. In return, the entire Saiyan race had revolted, crushing Frieza and his minions. The attack had been instigated, and led by, a lower level warrior named Bardock. He now stood, panting from his exertion, before young Prince Vegeta. No, Vegeta was Prince no more. He stood, King of all Saiyans. He looked, with youthful eyes, out at his people who needed his leadership… There would be no time for tears.

"What do we do now, your Highness?" Nappa asked of his new King. The large Saiyan passed glances from Bardock to Vegeta.

"We crush the remainder of Frieza's kind from the universe, to avenge the death of my father." Looking out beyond the stars, he added… "Then we take up where Frieza left off, and conquer the universe for ourselves."

****************************************************** *****************

Years later

Radditz, proud son of Bardock, stepped onto the planet called Earth. He had been granted the glory of destroying this planet. The dark blue water-covered orb that had taken his only brothers' life. Looking around, he deduced it would not be much of a challenge. Popping on his scouter, he set the range. Radditz was stunned, as he noticed a few high power-readings, not typical of the species usually found here.

"What the?" Radditz felt his heart skip a beat. Maybe his brother was alive after all. Some one had to be informed, "This is Radditz." He hit his communicator, with a sharp click. "There has been an unexpected development here on the planets' surface. It seems that Kakkarot may still be alive."

"Are you sure?" a voice responded

"Not yet, but I aim to find out!" With that he blasted toward the highest of the powers he had a reading on. If Kakkarot were still alive, he would have to return to planet Vegeta. It was only right that the lost son of the great hero Bardock take his position among the planet's most elite of warriors. If Radditz knew his King Vegeta, and he did, Vegeta would demand it.

Things did not go as Radditz expected, when he finally found his lost brother. The audacity of the man, to claim no knowledge of his Saiyan heritage. He even refused to accept that he was Kakkarot. Proclaiming his name to be Goku, of the planet Earth… This was greatly unexpected.

Radditz almost hated to inform the command of his findings. He flinched as he heard the response "Prepare him for the arrival of his Majesty the King. King Vegeta has just issued a summons for Kakkarot's appearance on Planet Vegeta. If Kakkarot refuses, King Vegeta will be coming for him personally."

***************************************************** ******************

Later that year

Vegeta, followed by some of the Saiyans' most illustrious warriors, stepped out into the Earth's atmosphere. A slow turn of his head pinned his black gaze on Goku, who stood with his friends and family surrounding him. Vegeta walked over and spoke directly to him "Kakkarot, have you been informed that you are to return to the planet Vegeta immediately?"

"Yes, but there has been some mistake here. You see, my name is Goku, and I am from…" Goku started to explain, but the other man would have none of it. The movement was done in a flash and the loud cracking sound echoed as Goku fell back to the ground.

"Are you defying your King?" Vegeta sneered, "Because if you are, that is a direct challenge to the throne, and will be treated as such." Vegeta looked past Goku to the group of stunned onlookers. If need be, he would slaughter every single one of them. Kakkarot was returning to his home world.

"You are not my King!" The rebelliousness was thick, as Goku rolled to his side and pushed himself up to his feet.

In a moment Goku was forced back by a ki blast that had formed in the King's hand. "If you will not obey, you will die." Vegeta was showing no mercy or concern. "Even you, son of Bardock, are not allowed such disobedience." Vegeta unclipped his cape with slow deliberation. He motioned for his men to move back with a slight raise of his hand. It was clear he wished them to leave this to him.

Goku raised his ki. If this alien monster was going to try and transplant him on some alien world, he had another thing coming.

Vegeta didn't even bother to waste his time gathering his ki, as he attacked the warrior.

The fight didn't take very long. Goku was soon pinned under King Vegeta's booted foot. Vegeta's hand rose above his head, holding the brilliant orb that would snuff out the light of Goku's life.

The unexpected happened at that moment.

"NOOOOOOOOOOO!" Gohan, only son of Goku, pulled away from his mother and attacked Vegeta. "Leave my Daddy alone!"

Vegeta looked up and crossed his hands before his face, as Gohan connected with him. The awesome power of the assault dropped the King of Vegeta backward. The infamous King flipped backward and rolled to his feet. He blocked the young boy's punches and kicks. As unschooled as the strikes were, they still held strength and speed that he had never seen in a child before. Waiting for an opening, he brought his hand down and swatted the child like a fly, sending him sprawling to the ground. The boy's mother cried out, and turned to her father's huge form for solace. The other warriors of Earth growled and took a defensive stance. A feminine cry came from the back of the group. A delicate beauty rushed forward to throw herself over the child, the slender form shielding the unconscious boy from any further attack. The earthling's face was hidden under her flowing blue hair, but her body was trembling in fear.

Vegeta turned from the scene before him. He was pondering the unexpected turn of events. Directing his gaze to a nearby guard he snarled "Did you get a power reading from that child?"

"It was over three thousand, my lord." The man stuttered.

"Impossible!" Vegeta glanced back toward the woman and the child. "I have never heard of a child being so strong."

The solider shifted his feet. "It does appear that the power has now left him." He hoped that would appease the King. One could never predict the Lord's reaction to unforeseen events.

"Really." Vegeta crossed his arms. He continued to observe the two beings huddled on the ground. "He is obviously a Saiyan. Someone give me the explanation for this! I will be in my chamber." Vegeta turned and waited for his men to refasten his cape. Sparing only one more glance back over to the boy, he noticed the blue haired girl looking up at him. The large round blue eyes were filled with not only fear but anger as well. Vegeta frowned. She was a lovely creature. It was a shame she would die for her brave actions, but no-one stood against the will of the Saiyan King, and lived.

A short while later

"Are you telling me that it is the mixture of Earthling and Saiyan blood that caused that power?" Vegeta raged at the scientist that stood before him.

"As best we can tell. It is also very likely that a demi-sayian, made with this species, could contain powers far greater than the average pureblooded Saiyan could ever attain." The man stood uneasily before his King. It was well known that strength was valued more highly than brains among the Saiyan race. The King was no exception to this rule. If the King was not pleased at his findings it was possible he would be granted a swift yet painful death, without a word of warning.

Vegeta remained silent for a long moment. "Very well, Tell Kakkarot I decree he can stay here with his child, but they must swear loyalty to me, or the planet will be destroyed."

"Very good sire." The scientist bowed before Vegeta "Is there anything else, you desire at this time?"

"Yes, get the blue haired girl. She looks pleasing enough to bear me some heirs." Vegeta smiled evilly. The other man tried to hide his shock. Vegeta didn't notice; his mind was somewhere else entirely. "Demi-Sayains, huh."

Many more years later

How things had changed, Bulma mused as she lay across her bed, and played with her son's feet. Trunks was almost two now, and as stubborn as the day was long, Bulma thought happily. The moment she had been taken from earth, Bulma had thought her life was over. Yet, it had only begun. Life on Vegeta had not been as she pictured it. Vegeta was gruff and moody, but in the end he had been patient and present in his affections. Winning her over had been a terrible task for him. She remembered times he would rage at her for her stubborn resolve. How many times had he threatened to make her watch as he destroyed her planet? The thought was almost funny now. Vegeta would never hurt her, physically or emotionally. No one was allowed to treat her with anything but the highest respect. She sighed, and rested her cheek on a soft pillow. Life was far better than she had dared to dream. Who would have guessed she would end up as the Queen of an entire planet?

The door opened unexpectedly, and Vegeta stepped through the portal. "Where is my son?"

Bulma rolled over and sat up on the edge of the bed, tossing Vegeta a smile "He is right here, your Highness." She rose to her feet, the loose crimson gown flowing around her soft skin.

"I have something for him." Vegeta motioned to the door, and a Saiyan warrior walked in, a squirming bundle in his arms.

As the man got closer, Bulma gasp "Vegeta! That's a baby!"

"Not just any child. He is Goten, second son of Kakkarot." Vegeta watched her expression turn horrified. "He is a demi-sayain, woman, He will be a good companion to my son."

"But that's Goku's child!" Bulma cried out at the thought of Chi-Chi's reaction to losing her newborn baby. Bulma simply could not imagine the amount of pain the other woman was feeling. "You have to take him back!"

"I am sorry, Bulma." Vegeta almost looked as if he meant it. "But it would not be a wise decision to allow the child to remain on earth. There is already one extremely powerful demi-sayian there. I cannot risk another." There was a quick shake of his head. "They could grow too powerful. An alliance between the two would mean trouble for Trunks in the future."

Bulma took the baby from the solider. She felt the tears forming in her eyes, as she noticed how similar the boy was to her old friend. "He will be raised the same as Trunks. Not as the Prince, but his right hand, this boy is both the grandson of Bardock, and a demi-Saiyan. He deserves some respect."

"As you wish it, my love. He will be Prince Trunks' personal guard, when he is grown. Answer to no-one but the Prince himself." Vegeta left the room with the warrior behind him. Bulma sat down on the bed. Goten yawned undisturbed but the chain of events.

Trunks pulled himself up to look over her shoulder at the baby and smiled. "Bab baee?"

"Yes, and he will be your very best friend." Bulma added. She was still stunned; Vegeta had called her his love in front of another living soul. That man. She smiled down, "Isn't that right, Goten?"

Many more years later

Gohan looked at his newborn daughter. "We have to cut off her tail immediately." Gohan said nervously "There is no way they are taking this child."

Goku nodded, while Chichi wrung her hands. She glanced to the door every second. It was clear she was in a panic. Goku was as much aware of their plight. "We will have to take great care in this. We cannot be discovered. The fate of Earth will be forfeit if we fail."

"It will not be easy to hide her from them, will it?" Videl held her baby girl close to her chest. Just looking at her mother-in-laws face was testimony enough.

"No it won't," Gohan looked out at the night sky. "But we have to try. For as long as we can." In his mind, he replayed the day his younger brother was taken from them. Gohan had begged them to take him instead. His mother had cried uncontrollably for days. Some nights she still did. His father just trained and got stronger. There was still a burning rage, deep down, that was just barely kept in check by the daily training. Gohan had taken his father's lead and trained as well. If they came for Pan it would not be easy on them. King Vegeta, be warned.

**************************************************************** *******

And so the tale begins

He walked down the hall, and all who saw him moved back out of his way. His form clad in a black body suit, covered with the special silver Saiyan armor, which denoted his rank. A black cape billowed behind him as his stride took him toward his goal. He was aware of the awed look the women gave him as he passed; how men stopped and saluted in respect. He ignored them all. They were of no consequence to him. The only thing that mattered to him was his destination. He knocked on the door, and then pushed it open, not bothering for an invitation or approval.

A virtual army of maids stood around the Princess Bra, dressing her for the victory celebration.

"Goten!" Bra threw her hands up to cover her naked breasts. "What do you think you are about? Get out of my quarters."

Goten smiled devilishly. He didn't budge, he didn't have to heed a word she said. He answered to no-one, except the Prince. "Your brother has sent me to give you word that the he has returned victorious."

Bra narrowed her eyes on Goten. "All of Vegeta knows that already! More than likely he sent you for a quick peek." Goten's reaction to her words was to smile and remain where he stood.

Bra snorted. Motioning to a maid for a thick satin robe. She allowed him a full view of her body as she slipped in to it. "I see you need to be dealt with. My ladies, if you please." Bra lifted her arms as they wrapped the belt around her tiny waist.

The maids bowed to their Princess, and rushed from the room. There were few knowing looks cast about amongst them, but even fewer dared shoot looks of envy at the Princess. After the last of them passed, Goten shut the door. Bra jumped down from her pedestal and rushed into his arms. Goten gathered her against him and kissed her fiercely. He allowed his hands free rein over her body. Slowly Bra broke away to rest her head against his chest.

"Never leave me again, do you hear me." Bra looked up at his dark eyes. The silk skin of her hands bit into his armor as she implored him.

"I go where his Highness goes. I do as he directs me." Goten sighed and set the beauty from him. "I am not in any position to start dictating to him."

"Trunks would let you do whatever you wish! I am starting to think you like all that killing you do." Bra pouted. She reached out and trailed her fingers over his chest. "I want you here on Vegeta."

"You want me in your bed as well." Goten took her hand firmly in his, ceasing its teasing motions. "There are things even you, Princess, can not have." Goten tapped her on the nose with his finger.

"I know you want it as well." She argued, disappointed with his resistance. "I just can't believe you fight me so hard. No man on this planet, or several others would condemn you for taking what I offer."

"What we want does not change anything. Until your father offers you to me, I cannot take you. To do so would be treason." Goten watched her growing angry. "I am sorry Princess, but I won't betray Vegeta."

"You commit treason every time you defy me!" Bra turned her back to him. Walking away from him she sat on the bench at the end of her lavish bed "I have tried everything, Goten. I have been aggressive. I have been patient. I have even ordered you to my bed, and still you refuse me. I can't take much more." She pounded the bench with her fist.

"I must go before there is talk." Goten felt his chest growing heavy with her disappointed rage. "Your brother will be happy to know you are well."

She refused to look at him. Instead she fixed her eyes on the scenery outside the window. "Do as you wish, you always do."

*********************************************************** ************

Trunks sat back in the chair in the main hall, watching the feast being set out before him. His father sat near him, with his mother.

"So you conquered Halaste with no trouble?" Vegeta looked to his son.

"Trouble? You must be joking. Goten took out half the army on his own. I never even got into a good fight, until I picked one with Goten that is. He is getting better. I still believe he maybe holding back so that he doesn't defeat me." Trunks grabbed an apple and bit into it "He says not, though. I am forced to believe him. Goten has never lied to me in the past, and is undyingly loyal."

Bulma felt her heart lurch. Goten was so much his father. It was almost scary, the similarities between the two. The only difference was, Goten was much more brash. That could be seen in his exploits with the opposite sex. Even Bra was still having fits for him. Bulma looked at Vegeta, and knew he was reading her mind. She blushed and looked down. Vegeta hated it when she thought of her home planet, and the ones she loved there. Sometimes she thought he might regret taking her. She would never be certain of it though. He could always block his thoughts so much better than she could.

Trunks leaned back and propped his feet on the table. "You know lately I have been wondering about Mother's home planet."

Bulma froze and looked at her son. Was it possible he could read her thoughts as well? Actually the idea was just silly but the question was eerily ironic. "What about the planet Earth?" Vegeta looked over intrigued by his son's sudden interest.

"Why didn't you take it over? Why didn't you blow it up? Why did you choose mom? Why did you take Goten from there?" Trunks watched his father, gauging his every look. "You don't like my questions?"

Vegeta shook his head "I do not mind. In fact, I think you can kill two birds with one stone for me." Vegeta looked to Bulma. She shifted with unease. "You can appease your curiosity, and check up on your mother's family and friends for me. Yes, I think that will be your next mission."

Trunks jumped to his feet, excited. "You mean it? You are really giving me permission to go to Earth?!"

"Yes, and take your partner in crime. Goten can meet his family for the first time while you are there as well. Remember that he must return with you." Vegeta turned a serious look to his son.

Goten emerged into the room and knelt before the head table. Vegeta looked down at the young warrior, before adding so only Trunks could hear. "If for any reason he wants to stay you must kill him and his brother, Gohan. I will not tolerate them uniting against us."

Trunks swallowed hard. Goten was his best friend, his confidante, and counselor. Life with out Goten was unimaginable. This trip could be trickier than Trunks had been expecting. Looking down at his friend Trunks nodded assuredly. "Goten will never betray me."

*********************************************************** ************

Pan and Marron sat on the hillside, watching as Goku and Gohan sparred. Pan shaded her eyes from the sun "They fight as if their lives depend on it." she remarked sleepily.

Marron sighed and fell backward and stretched in the grass. "Maybe they think it does. It hasn't always been like this. My daddy says that Goku used to be a very happy and friendly guy."

"I wonder what happened to grandfather?" Pan stood up and stretched her arms up over her head. "They are going to notice we are slacking over here, soon."

Marron moaned in protest. "You have been beating me up all morning. Are you saying you want to take a few more cracks at my injured body?""

Pan laughed "I have a huge bruise on my ass that tells me differently. Now," Pan jumped on her friend and yelled, "Tickle attack!!!"

Marron rolled around, trying to escape "HAHAHA! NOOOO!" She gasped for air. "Stop HAHHAHAH! You cheat!"

"PAN!" Gohan shouted, the girls looked up sharply at the command. "Stop goofing off and start practicing."

Pan looked up at her father and muttered to Marron "Slave driver. He acts like I will actually get to use these powers some day." Pan blew out a puff of air that tossed her bangs. "It's not like anyone else can even touch me."

'"You never know. Maybe you can use it to beat off the admirers." Marron teased.

"As if I were you." Pan flew into the air spinning around until she hovered above her friend. "I need to kick your ass for even insinuating that!

Marron looked at the ground shaking her head. Then suddenly blasting past Pan she called, "Sure if you can catch me" Pan wasted no time and took off after her.

Gohan looked on as the girls shot away "Hey Pan!" He called after his rebellious daughter, but she didn't seem to hear.

Goku shrugged "Let her go and have some fun." He watched the fading vapor trails "It's not like she has any knowledge of why she needs to train. If we tell her it will only scare her, and if we push her too hard she might give up on us."

"You're right, I should let her have some fun I know, but then I think of Goten." Gohan watched his daughter turn into a tiny dot the distance. "I wont let them take her, Dad."

Goku chuckled "I think you need to start worrying about the guys of this planet when it comes to that, Gohan. She is not exactly a little girl any more. We have managed to have her avoid Vegeta's occasional check in this long." Goku watched his son slap his hand over his face at the mention of other men. "Besides there is no-one on this planet strong enough to take her any where she doesn't want to be."

******************************************************** ***************

"So we are finally going to Earth." Goten watched Trunks pull his silver armor over his head. The Prince's emblem was stamped in purple on the front of the shiny plating. As soon as it was in place Goten clipped the dark purple cape to Trunks' shoulders.

"Yes, we are. My father says your family is still there. He believes you have earned the right to meet with them." Trunks turned as soon as his cape was fastened. He lay his hand on the other man's shoulder. "You know I love you like a brother, but I have been given orders to destroy you, if you try to abscond and stay with them."

Goten nodded "I understand. Do not worry, my Prince. I am ever loyal to you. We were raised as brothers. I would rather cut out my heart than betray you."

"Very good, then let us be off. I am eager to see the planet that created some one like my mother." Trunks grinned.

"Seeking a bride?" Goten laughed.

"No more than you are." Trunks looked over his shoulder at his friend "A new slave would do me nicely though. Things are getting a little stale here."

Goten's mind wandered to Bra, "I wouldn't say that." She would no doubt be furious at his leaving again. He had only just arrived. The victory feast was not even fully on the tables yet, and only a handful of guests had arrived. Still, Trunks and Goten were young warriors, their blood called for adventure. They would have enough time to sit around a table trading stories when they were old.

"I bet I can beat you to the pods!" Trunks yelled as he took off running.

"I bet you can't!" Goten blasted into the air and zoomed past his Prince.

Thanks so much for reading. I also want to make a special mention my (very bad, but learning) Beta Reader Bardockgurl. I am beyond blessed to have such a sweet friend who is willing to take the time to help me. I really appreciate your support and your skill. (Yes, yes you are - Bg)
