Pure Providence

Prologue: There is only pain when you don't follow you're heart.

Many moons ago I (1) was faced with a decision. I could have remained loyal to my partner and faced the wrath of my master, or chickened out and kept my head down. So what did I do? I played the coward and remained on my master's leash, and, thinking back now, I should have gone with my partner… gone with him to Earth. But that was thirteen years ago and now Earth is in horrible danger. They say that the legendary monster, Majin Buu, has been resurrected, and no one doubts it, because his power can be felt in the far reaches of the universe. I fear he will destroy those who oppose him on Earth, and then the gods themselves will expire at Buu's hands. I question if it would make a difference if they had one more warrior, one more saiyan, one more legendary gold haired fighter... in other words, me. Would it matter if I had gone to Earth with my partner all those years ago? Whether it would matter or not, I ought to still be on Earth fighting evil, not hiding in the lone goddess's galaxy (2). But instead of doing what is right, I sit and wonder "what if this" and "what if that." I would be there. I should have stayed at my partner's side. I could have… I should have… Well, should haves, could haves, and would haves won't get me anywhere now… But still…. What if I had?

Footnotes:

(1) The prologue is in first person; the rest of the story is in third person.

(2) The main character calls her location the "lone goddess's galaxy" because she is in the east quadrant, which is controlled by the only female ruler, East Kai. The prologue is the only part of "Pure Providence" that takes place in the east quadrant; the rest of the story occurs in the north quadrant.

Author's notes:

This little "what-if" fan-fiction is about a saiyan child named Ree and will be approximately 20,000 words. The pun on her name is the meaning of the prefix "re" which means, "to do again." Ree gets to live her life again, and take the Z world by storm. (Get it?)
