Prologue:
Farewell, Young Warrior
As the stars glistened in the sky, the bright red planet of Vegetasei was busy with activity. Aliens of different species and types scurried around busily within a technical facility, preparing the Saiyan infants for takeoff, and spiky haired Saiyan warrior stared into a pod bearing a long haired baby. The warrior examined the baby carefully, his tail tip swished back and forth as if to indicate the warrior's mood. “Still worried, Bardock?” a woman's voice quietly teased from over his shoulder. The warrior turned back, a look of scorn painted on his face. “Tch…I don't think a planet like Zunic is proper for Raditz, Celrazi” Bardock said, arms folded across his chest. Celrazi chuckled, her soft voice filling the empty space pod chamber. “Don't worry about the little tyke, he's stronger than you were when you were born!” she said, tapping her scouter once while facing the young infant. “Battle power of 105….this kid shows some promise!” Celrazi remarked, with a look on her face that could be mistaken for a smile. Bardock looked down at the infant with mild concern. He had always had problems trying to conceal his emotions and express them properly, and this was more than just a little too awkward for the proud warrior. “Heh….whatever…I'll see ya around, kid” he said with a little snort before turning on his heel and walking off the launch pad, regarding the infant with one more smirk before steeling his face into a cold glare and walking off the launch pad. Celrazi eyed Bardock for a moment before turning back to her son. When she was sure no Saiyans or aliens were around, she placed a hand gently on his forehead and whispered in Saiya-Mel:
“May the gods of our proud people walk with you, my dear Raditz….”
“May the gods of our proud people walk with you, my dear Raditz….”
Turning on a booted heel, she hurriedly left the launch zone and met a silent Bardock, who returned her startled gaze with one of grief and emotion. Without saying a word, the spiky haired warrior walked up to Celrazi, gently turning her around to face the launch pad and holding her close to him with an unusual tenderness that sent shivers up the spine of the female Saiyan.. They watched wordlessly as the space pods lifted up into the air and sped off, some of them heading in a different direction while others in the same direction. Bardock took one step back, releasing her from his soft embrace. “I've gotta get ready for my next off world mission” He said softly. “I'll contact you when I'm about to leave”. Without another word, his aura surrounded him like a bluish tinged flame, and he rocketed into the sky towards the setting sun. Celrazi removed her scouter, sobbing softly as tears streamed down her face. She was happy that nobody could see her exhibiting such weak behavior as she looked up into the orange sky, her long, slightly unruly hair blowing behind her.
Meanwhile within the large confines of the royal fortress of Vegetasei, a tall, stocky Saiyan male wearing royal armor paced back and forth while an even larger Saiyan leaned on the wall, arms folded and glaring at the king with concern. He hadn't seen the king like this in a long time, and wanted so much to help his sovereign. The king lifted his head and shouted “Nappa!!!” sending the larger Saiyan jumping to attention. “What's the status report on the wench?!” He bellowed, clenching and unclenching his fists in a manner that made the larger Saiyan fall to his knees in fear of the fuming Saiyan. “Lord Vegeta, be patient while I find out what's going on” Nappa whimpered before stumbling to his feet and bolting across the throne room to a massive iron door located behind the throne. Pounding on it with one massive fist, Nappa bellowed. “Hey you little wimp, get your yellow skinned ass out here at once!”
After a few more solid bangs, the door creaked open and a small, yellow skinned alien scuttled out of the room, closing the door behind him as soon he had passed through. Rolling two beady, insect-like eyes up at a startled Nappa, he squawked “May I please speak to King Vegeta?”
King Vegeta's tail twitched at the mention of his name, and bolted towards the alien. In a flash, he appeared in front of the puny alien and lifted him high up until they were each at eye level, the alien's feet dangling from below him. “I'll ask you myself…” he said with a deadly whisper that sent shivers through Nappa's body, as well as everyone else's. “How fares my mate?”
The alien stammered through a beaked mouth, “Congratulations sire…your mate bears a son, the heir to your empire shall soon be born.”
A proud smile slowly crept across the face of the king. “Excellent”, he snarled.
