Revolution of the Saiyans

Chapter Seventeen

Everyone outside was cheering and celebrating. The new King had been revealed and a new breath of life seemed to invigorate the powerful Saiyan race. They were in a frenzy of celebration. In a rare moment of solidarity, all classes of Saiyans united, every person welcoming their new leader.

All but one. She sat alone, having chosen to forgo the outside activities. She preferred less nonsense and something more rational.

Cierra took her meager position very seriously. Being a third class Saiyan, she was only just promoted to head of the communications area. But, that is not what she wanted. Cierra wanted to be a soldier. Yet for now, she bided her time for an opportunity to be a true warrior.

Sitting in front of a computer screen, she watched as the bio-radar system picked up on several life forms quite a distance from the actual celebration.

The young girl wasn't sure. It could just be a group of soldiers having wandered off. However, she wasn't one to take chances.

Brushing back her short brown hair, her blue eyes watched the screen carefully. Even for her tender eighteen years, she was mature, determined to do a good job for her King, hoping to be noticed as an asset. Not just a female.

The cheers from outside were so loud; it was annoying to Cierra, who focused on what she considered to be more important than a foolish party.

As she continued to watch, she picked up on the location of a disabled ship. It was not in the docking bay, as was proper procedure. No, this ship seemed to be miles away. Zooming in on the vessel, she noticed that it was not only miles away, but seemed to be underground. Hidden. How could it be that this ship had not been noticed before? It was so obvious.

Perrin. Of course. She had heard that he had been a traitor, and tried to help in killing the rightful King. And he was her predecessor over the communications area.

Damn.

Cierra got up and grabbed her satellite communicator.

"General!" She said loudly into the small hand held communicator. "General Kelon, can you hear me?"

Cierra waited a few moments, but heard no reply. The noise level was too great, apparently drowning out her urgent plea. Glancing at the radar screen again, she realized that the wandering life forms were headed toward the ship.

It had to be Drais. His death was still unconfirmed and she knew he would not go down without a fight.

Holding her communicator in one hand, Cierra ran as fast as she could toward the King's quarters. The halls were empty and the noise of her boots clicked loudly. She could feel her heart racing as she breathed through her mouth, ignoring the fear she felt creeping up the back of her neck.

Rounding the corner, Cierra stopped just short of running directly into another soldier. Her blue eyes must have revealed her concern.

"What is going on?" The soldier asked. "Why are you not at the celebration? It was commanded for everyone to attend."

Cierra eyed this man. "I have something more pressing than a party." She said hatefully and brushed past him.

But, he wasn't going to let her pass. He grabbed her arm and used his authority over her. "I asked you a question, girl." He said angrily. "Unless you want a thrashing, you will explain yourself."

Cierra tried to pull her arm free of his grip as this man towered over her. "I could ask you the same thing." She said curtly. "Why is it that you are not at the grand coronation?"

He smirked. "Bitch." He said and threw Cierra up against the wall. "I don't have time for your shit." He brought up one of his massive hands to slap her, but Cierra ducked. With her small but powerful leg, she kicked him in the side, knocking him backwards. Next, she doubled up her fist and landed an uppercut to his jaw.

Not waiting for him to retaliate, Cierra took off running again. She knew the soldier would be following her and after what she had done. He was an upper class officer, and such actions could result in her death. But, as she continued on, she did not hear his oncoming footsteps. Cierra paused, breathing heavily.

Why wasn't he following her? The blows she had inflicted had done the job, but he was not really hurt.

What was he doing here? He was a fighter. Not in communications.

Wasting no more time, Cierra hurried up the rounding staircase to the upper levels, taking three steps at a time.

The hallway to the King's quarters was paved in gold, the walls a bright and shinning white. Almost blinding. Ordinarily, it would be lined with soldiers, ready and able to protect their king. But not now. Everyone was outside.

Cierra burst through the King's door; she was immediately tackled and thrown to the ground by the guards.

It was Kelon who came to her rescue.

"RELEASE THAT GIRL!" He commanded, stepping in from the balcony.

Cierra was freed; breathing so hard she could barely speak. "Sir, there are….soldiers…getting on a ship….." She gasped.

"What?" Kelon demanded, taking the young girl by her upper arms and pulling her close. The noise level was so intense, he could barely hear her.

"I believe it is Drais trying to escape!" Cierra said. "He has allies."

Kelon let her go. He walked back to the balcony and got the attention of Vegeta and the others.

"Drais has shown himself. We must hurry." He said. "My King, we must get you to safety."

Vegeta scoffed. "Safety? Like hell I'll run!" He said, handing Kelon's sword back to the Commander. "We go together, and I'll kill Drais myself."

"But, sir…." Kelon said, not used to such bravery from their previous King.

"Shut up!" Vegeta shouted. "You can come if you'd like, but Drais will perish by my hands!"
