Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ THE GUARDIAN ❯ Magic ( Chapter 4 )
Chapter Four
"Magic"
Cosorce sighed. She knelt down beside Vegeta and shook him gently. He didn't move, but he was still breathing. "Wake up, Prince!" Vegeta didn't. Cosorce touched a finger to his chest and a small spark of electricity shot through him. He still didn't move. Cosorce sighed again. "Purely professional..." she said aloud. "Healer's touch..." She leaned over Vegeta and touched her lips to his in a gossamer kiss.
Suddenly, Vegeta's eyes snapped open. Cosorce backed off. "Good, you're awake." She said.
"What the HELL do you think you're doing?!!"
Cosorce sighed, rolled her eyes and said sarcastically, "you're welcome."
"For what?!" Vegeta demanded.
Cosorce cleared her throat. "For healing you."
Vegeta looked down at himself. He was covered in blood, his throat felt flat and his head throbbed. "Don't lie to me!" He snarled and grabbed Cosorce by the collar of her tunic menacingly.
"It, uh, takes a minute to work." Cosorce said and pointed at Vegeta. He looked at himself again and let go of Cosorce in surprise as his blood seeped backwards, into him, his throat lost it's crushed feeling and a peculiar coolness washed through his head.
"W-what the?" He stuttered.
Cosorce grinned. "See? Never yell until you're sure the person you're yelling at didn't just save your life. Not like you care, though."
Vegeta grunted and sat up. "Well why can't you just touch my hand or something to heal me?"
Cosorce sighed. Great Wolf and I are working on that, but I might touch an enemy and heal them so..."
Vegeta nodded. "I see."
"And if I use a beam an enemy might jump in front of it and that wouldn't be too good. I prefer to use this kind of contact magic until I can think up some sort of trigger so I can heal with just a touch on the hand or whatever."
Vegeta looked puzzled. "Contact...magic?"
"Where I have to touch the target a certain way to-"
Vegeta interrupted. "I meant the magic part."
Cosorce looked puzzled too. "Yeah...magic." She raised her hand, palm up in front of her. A ball of fire appeared on it. She threw it up into the air where it froze into a solid ball of ice. It came crashing down towards Vegeta. He ducked but it melted instantly into water, then turned into a cloud of dust, then vanished into thin air (literally).
"Wow..." Vegeta breathed.
Cosorce grinned proudly. "That's called elemental magic. Earth, air, fire, water, ice, you know...elements." Cosorce shrugged as though magic was a common sight. Suddenly, Cosorce was gone and the silver wolf stood in her place. "That's called form magic. Changing shape completely. Then there's alteration magic." Cosorce closed her eyes and suddenly turned brown, then white, electric blue, hot pink, then finally back to silver. Vegeta blinked and wondered if what he saw was real.
"Of course, those are only minor changes. Allow me to show you something more...impressive." She said, smiling.
Vegeta didn't know what she meant but nodded.
Cosorce closed her eyes and morphed into a HUGE silver dragon. She lashed her tail, opened her jaws wide, revealing rows of razor-sharp, ivory teeth and let loose a roar that seemed to unleash the fury of the very heavens. She sank her crystal claws into the ground and spread her wings wide, brushing the trees at the edges of the clearing. Vegeta stared in amazement. Cosorce shut her mouth finally, folded her wings and relaxed. She grinned down at Vegeta, who whistled in appreciation for this new form.
Cosorce flattened herself against the ground. "Care for a ride, Prince?" Vegeta looked at her in further amazement, but climbed up and settled at the base of her neck. Cosorce beat her powerful wings against the ground and launched her formidable form into the air. She shot straight up into the sky, spiraling around and around, wings folded tight against her body, until they were above the clouds. "Having fun yet?" She called back.
Vegeta put his arms in the air, holding on with only his legs and gave a whoop. Cosorce chuckled, a low and rumbling sound. "I'll take that as a yes."
After a few minutes of soaring above the clouds, she ordered, "hang on tight." Vegeta gripped her neck with his legs and lay flat with his upper half, wrapping his arms around her neck as best he could.
Cosorce dove sharply and spiraled towards the ground at breakneck speed, pulling her wings in close to herself. Vegeta felt his stomach lurch as the ground rushed towards him. He could feel the force of the air trying to suck him off of Cosorce. Just as it seemed they were about to crash into the trees, Cosorce spread her wings wide and braked abruptly. She pulled up and did a few minutes of fancy flying, including flips, spins and barrel rolls, then landed lightly in the clearing and changed back to Saiyan form as Vegeta leapt from her back. She flopped to the ground, panting. "Tah dah!"
Vegeta grinned. "That was great!" He exclaimed.
Cosorce grinned as well. When she regained her breath, she stood up.
"Cosorce...I have a question. I know you said before that you're here to protect me...but why?"
Cosorce looked thoughtful, contemplating how to explain. "Because I love you." She said seriously.
Vegeta's eyes opened wide in shock.
Suddenly, Cosorce burst out laughing. "Kidding, kidding! Sorry. Man, you should've seen your face! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! ...ahem...sorry." She cleared her throat. "Like I told you, I'm your Guardian. I was chosen when I was very young, but I was the toughest kid around...besides you of course. All the royals have one. Your father did but..." She scowled. "Well...let's just say he failed."
"Who was he?" Vegeta asked.
"...Shai."
"WHAT?!!??!!!!"
Cosorce nodded sadly. "Afraid so. But he got scared and ran off, just before your father got killed...I'm sorry..."
Vegeta shrugged after a moment. "It's not your fault...it was his."
Cosorce nodded and closed her eyes again. Vegeta wondered what she was going to do next.
Cosorce was gone and a beautiful silver unicorn with a golden horn, diamond hooves, a ruby red mane and tail and black wings stood in her place. She knelt down on her forelegs. "Your chariot awaits, Your Majesty."
Vegeta grinned and leapt nimbly onto her back. Cosorce set off through the woods at a brisk trot. Soon, the forest gave way to open plains. Cosorce switched to a smooth canter. Vegeta rocked back and forth with the movement of her sleek body.
After a while, they reached a beautiful beach where the setting sun glowed over the gently rolling waves.
"Hang on tight." Cosorce said.
Vegeta remembered what happened the last time she said that and wrapped his legs firmly around her.
"Lean forward in sort of a crouch. Grab my mane, and don't worry, it doesn't hurt me."
Vegeta remembered watching horse racing briefly on TV and leaned forward in a jockey's crouch, entwining his fingers in her silky mane.
Cosorce burst into a racing gallop, sweeping easily over the sand. She constantly increased her speed until everything flashed by so fast, not even Vegeta's sharp eyes could pick things out for what they were. He bent lower as Cosorce's mane whipped in his face. The two nearly flew along, feeling as one united being. Cosorce's hooves barely touched the ground before she whipped them up again.
Suddenly, she shifted her headlong flight and Vegeta was nearly pitched over her head as she lurched to a stop, but she reared before he was thrown. She kicked at the air with her front hooves, and then finally set them down.
"...Wow..." Vegeta breathed.
Cosorce pranced around, picking up her hooves and arching her neck like a high-spirited filly. She finally stopped and knelt down again. Vegeta hopped off and Cosorce turned back to Saiyan form and took a bow.
"That was amazing!" Vegeta raved.
"Thank you, thank you, no autographs, please."
Vegeta grinned as Cosorce looked up at the dark, star-filled sky.
"Guess we'd better call it a night. Sleep well, Prince, I'll be watching." Cosorce smiled, waved goodnight and ran into the forest.
"Night!" Vegeta called after her, then lay down on the sand and soon fell asleep to the gentle sound of the waves caressing the shore.
Cosorce watched until she was sure the Prince was asleep, then headed a bit into the woods, climbed a tree and settled among the branches to sleep.
