Chapter Twenty-Three

Chi Chi watched Kakarot as he pulled on his clothes. Her back was resting against the headboard and Gohan was sleeping beside her.

She absently ran her fingers through her son's hair as thoughts raced through her mind, leaving her eyes distant. Kakarot noticed her when he was finished getting dressed.

“Chi Chi?” He rose from his chair.

She looked up at him. “They've found Frieza?”

He nodded.

She shook her head. “It's too soon…”

“What?”

“For you to be leaving us again.” She glanced down at Gohan.

He walked over to her. “Chi Chi, I have to go with them. If we don't destroy Frieza, he'll destroy us, all of us. You, me, Gohan, everyone.” He leaned closer to her as he spoke each name.

She nodded. “I know but…”

He cupped her face in his hands. “I'm not leaving yet. We still have time. Prince Vegeta just wants to talk right now.”

She closed her eyes and he leaned in and claimed her lips in a kiss. “Yes, I will have to leave eventually, but I'll come back. Wait for me.”

“I will.” She pulled her hand from Gohan's hair and curved them around Kakarot's neck.

He pulled her closer to him and kissed her again. He moved down to kiss her neck. She moaned and slid her fingers into his hair, holding his head to her.

He licked along her skin and came to the claim mark he had given her while on Earth. He could remember the smell of her fear when he told her what it took to claim her as his mate, but she said she wasn't afraid. She'd said that she wanted to be with him and she got what she wanted.

He nibbled gently on the mark and she moaned again. After a moment, he pulled away from her. If he kept this up, he'd be late and Vegeta probably wouldn't be too understanding.

“Kakarot…”

“I have to go now.” He kissed her on the lips once more before leaving the room.

-

Amara stood outside of the room where they were holding the meeting. She hadn't been summoned to the meeting and she sure wasn't going to waltz inside like she had been.

She just couldn't stay in her room knowing that Radditz and everyone else was discussing what to do about Frieza.

“Amara?”

She whirled around and was left looking up at her father. She had expected to find a guard wandering the halls, but not the former king's advisor. “Father? What are you doing here?”

“I think that question is better suited for you,” he said with a slight smile on his face.

“Well…” She was suddenly interested in the pattern of the tiles on the floor.

He laughed. “I'm sure I already know the answer. You can't stand being left out of anything, can you?” He shook his head.

She looked up at him and his expression had suddenly turned from amused to stern. She blinked at him.

“Your mother is here,” he said.

Amara felt her eyes widen. “What?”

He smiled. “She said and I quote, `I don't feel safe at home, Cole, and if some third class Saiya-jins have their families living in the palace then I should most certainly be there!'”
Amara crossed her arms. “Where is she?”

As if on cue, footsteps were heard coming around a bend in the hallway.

“Now Amara, be nice to your mother.” Cole touched her shoulder.

A woman who was about four inches taller than Amara came into view. Other than her elegant clothes and short brown hair, she was like a carbon copy of Amara.

Cole smiled. “Aisha.”

She nodded at him and then looked to her daughter, dressed in Saiya-jin armor. “Go to your meeting, Cole. Amara will show me what I need to see.”

Cole nodded and walked past Amara and into the meeting room. Amara never took her eyes off of her mother.

Aisha walked toward her daughter and Amara uncrossed her arms. “Wipe that look off of your face. Show some respect. I am your mother. Look at you. Look how you're dressed. Stop this nonsense and come back home.”

“This isn't nonsense,” Amara said. “This is my life and I don't intend for it to change.”

Aisha smiled. “Maybe you'll realize you're mistaken when that soldier of yours goes off and gets himself killed.”

Amara stiffened.

Aisha grabbed her daughter's face. “He can't provide the things you need, Amara. There's a nice first-class…”

Aisha stopped when Amara jerked away from her. Amara stepped back until her back was pressed against the wall.

Aisha placed her hands on her hips and laughed. “I'm giving you another chance, Amara. Are you going to screw this one up as well?”

Amara frowned sharply. Aisha crossed her arms, expectantly.

The sound of hurried footsteps came to Amara's ears and she looked toward the bend in the hallway. A man rounded the bend, heading straight for Aisha. Amara recognized him to be one of the former king's councilmen, Poivre.

“Hey! Stop him!” Cries could be heard from farther down the hallway.

Aisha stood there looking at Poivre with wide eyes, unable to move out of his path or say anything.

Amara stepped in front of her mother and punched him in the face with her right hand. Poivre stumbled back and she followed up with a punch with her left and then planted her right fist into his stomach.

Poivre's eyes widened and he fell to one knee. Amara kicked him in the face and he fell backwards onto the floor and groaned, but didn't get up again.

Two guards ran up and looked at Amara, still in her fighting stance. They nodded at her and each took one of Poivre's arms, dragging him to his feet.

Amara stood tall. “What's going on?”

Poivre pulled against the guards. “Malem forced me to work for him. It was so many years ago! I had nothing to do with the death of the king!”

“You were connected with Malem,” one of the guards said. “Tell us how.”

“I gave him information. Whatever he wanted to know I found it for him.” He looked around with wild eyes. “Back then…he wanted information on the Queen. I told him that without the Queen…King Vegeta would be easier to take advantage of.”

Amara gasped.

The guards shared a look and then dragged Poivre away. Amara watched until they disappeared down the hallway.

The Queen's death all those years ago, Amara thought. That was Malem's doing as well.

She looked toward the closed double doors and knew that Prince Vegeta was sitting just beyond those walls, though he hadn't heard the news.
Aisha took a step forward. “Amara…you…incapacitated that man. He was coming right for me.”

Amara turned to her. She was sure the man had no intention of causing harm to her mother; she had just been in the way.

Amara nodded. “Perhaps Radditz can't buy me all that useless material crap, but he taught me something that I will never forget, something more valuable. Proper self-defense.”

Aisha blinked.

“Frieza could walk up to me right now and I wouldn't die cowering in a corner, I'd go out fighting with pride. Isn't that what it's all about? Pride?”

Amara leaned against the wall near the double doors again. “Can your money and jewels protect you?”

Aisha stared at her daughter for a moment, before regaining her regal posture. “I suppose not.”

Amara would have lost her balance if she weren't already leaning against a wall. “What?”

“I suppose many things have changed now.” She went to a window and looked out at the dark night. “King Vegeta is gone and many of the corrupt councilmen have been removed.” She laughed. “You know, I haven't even met this soldier of yours…Radish was his name?”

Amara couldn't help but to laugh. “Radditz, mother.”

“Ah.”

The double doors opened and Amara tensed. A few men filed out, but certainly not all of them. Amara watched Nappa walk past, and then came Kakarot and finally Radditz.

Since Amara was standing off to the side, Radditz noticed Aisha first. He frowned slightly, seeing the obvious resemblance, but at the same time knowing she wasn't Amara.

Amara came up behind him and he looked at her with a question forming in his eyes.

“Radditz, this is my mother.”

He didn't try and mask the surprise on his face. Her mother?! What's going on?

She stepped forward. “My name is Aisha.” She looked over Radditz as if he was a car and she was thinking about buying it.

Radditz could almost feel the woman's sharp gaze cutting through him like a knife, sizing him up.

“He's not as bad as I expected,” Aisha finally said and then turned her back on them.

Radditz frowned, but Amara touched his arm. “Take that as a compliment. She could have said worse.”

“Come on Amara,” her mother said. “Aren't you going to show me to a room? You spend enough time in this palace to know every inch of it.”

Amara followed her mother as she walked down the hallway as if she were doing the leading. Radditz caught up to her.

“Does this mean we can't have sex tonight?” he whispered.

She hit him in the stomach and looked to make sure her mother hadn't heard. Aisha kept walking as if she'd heard nothing, though she had.

Amara grabbed Radditz's arm and let her mother get a few more steps ahead of them. “What's the matter with you? Don't say things like that.”

“It's not like she doesn't know.” He crossed his arms. “She's not an idiot.”

Amara thought about that for a moment. Radditz took the opportunity to slide his hands over her backside. She jumped in surprise.

“Amara!”

She sighed and looked up at her mother who was standing near a stairwell with her arms crossed.

She turned and flicked her tail at Radditz as she went to her mother. He gave a wry smile and walked after her.
He was following the love of his life to his future mother-in-law from hell. No matter how many years passed, or how many old laws were annulled and new ones created, the old woman would never accept him. He didn't care, as long as she left Amara alone about it.

_

Radditz opened the bedroom door and Amara slipped past him. “Does your mother have to be next door to us?”

Amara sat down on the side of the bed. “She's sleeping two rooms away.”

Radditz closed the door. “Hmm.”

“Where did you want me to put her, two floors away from us? Oh yes, she would have gone for that.” Sarcasm laced her words.

Radditz frowned and sat at the foot of the bed and removed his boots. Amara stood and began removing her clothes. Radditz acted as if he didn't notice.

She stood in front of him and placed her hands on her hips. “I'll make it up to you.”

He trailed his finger across the hem of her panties and then looked up to meet her eyes. “Yes, you will.”

She pushed Radditz back on the bed and straddled his waist. He looked up at her as she removed his clothes and left him in only underwear.

He pulled her down for a kiss. She slid her fingers into his hair and parted her lips, granting his tongue access into her mouth.

He rose up a little and rolled them in the bed so that he was on top. She opened her eyes and was left staring into his eyes. He broke this kiss and ran his tongue in a line in her cleavage.

She drew in a breath. “You're not supposed to kiss with your eyes open.”

He lifted his head long enough to speak. “How would you know mine were open if yours were closed?”

She laughed. “No fair, you turned us over.”

He lifted her up enough to take off her bra and tossed it to the floor. He laid her down again and Amara closed her eyes.

She could feel his breath falling over her breasts, causing her nipples to tighten. He chose a breast and let his mouth descend on it. He sucked it into his mouth and she wrapped her tail around his waist.

She gasped when his teeth grazed over the nipple and tightened her tail around him. He lifted his head and moved onto the other breast.

Amara pushed at his underwear and he helped her get them completely off. He pulled back from her and grabbed both of her wrists in one of his hands. He held her hands above her head and tore her panties away with his free hand.

She looked up and felt him sliding against her. He entered her in one quick movement. Her brow furrowed as sweet pain diffused through her body.

He forced his way into her, feeling the tightness of her walls loosen with every thrust. He looked up at her as she began to purr. Her eyes were closed, but when she felt his gaze she opened them.

He let go of her wrists and continued moving in and out of her at a steady pace. Her tail loosened from around his waist and settled on the bed. Radditz moved his own tail and entwined it with hers.

He angled his thrusts, plunging deep for that spot within her body. Amara cried out when he found it, bucking her hips against his.

He groaned and ran himself over the spot, repeatedly. Amara pulled his head down for a kiss. Radditz kissed her hungrily and she nibbled on his lower lip.

He pulled back and quickened his pace. Amara's breathing changed and she could feel his breath coming out in pants against her skin.

Radditz's could feel her walls tightening around him. She turned her head to the side and whispered his name. She cried out once more. “Radditz!”

Piercing warmth came over her and she screamed. Radditz grabbed her hands and entwined his fingers with hers. He groaned and gave one more thrust before releasing his seed within her.

“Amara…”

She cupped his face in her hands before he collapsed on top of her. She held his head to her chest and closed her eyes as her breathing slowly returned to normal.

Radditz opened his eyes. “Do you think your mother heard us?”

Amara laughed softly. “I don't care.”

“Let's do it again…to make sure she heard.”

“Cocky bastard,” Amara said, without opening her eyes.

“I thought you said I was an arrogant bastard.” He unsheathed himself from her body, but lay down on top of her again.

“That too.”

He chuckled. “Well you're still a spoiled bitch.”

She opened her eyes and smiled. “Yeah and you wouldn't have me any other way.”
