Chapter Twenty-Five

He pressed his gloved hands to the glass. There it was. Forming in the distance. An orb radiating with green and brown color, marred with splotches of white here and there. The planet was called Nyoka. His officials had told him this is where they would find Frieza.

It had been four days since Radditz, Kakarot and Nappa and he had left their home planet. It seemed to have taken so long to arrive. But now he was here and one step closer. That lizard wasn't going to push his weight around anymore. His time had expired.

He must perish at the hands of the Prince. “So close. I'm so close nothing can ruin this now. I will destroy you, Frieza. I swear this on my father's grave.”

There came a knock at the door and he turned. “What is it?”

The door opened and Radditz stepped into the room. “Prince Vegeta, tomorrow all the preparations will be complete and we'll land.”

He gave a curt nod. “How many of his flunkies have survived and are with him? Do we have an estimate?”

He nodded. “Anywhere from around 40-50 people.”

Vegeta smirked. “Kakarot, Nappa and you can take care of them.” He raised his hand and clenched it into a fist. “That lizard is mine.”

“All right.” Radditz backed out of the room. He pushed the button on the wall to close the door and turned to meet his brother.

“We're so close,” Kakarot said. “I'm so anxious.”

“Relax,” Radditz said, walking past him. “I don't think Vegeta plans to let us have a try at Frieza.”

Kakarot followed him. “Ah well. I'll get to fight someone right?”

“Yeah.”

“Do you think we're ready?”

Radditz turned. “Of course.”

Kakarot nodded and went to stand near a window. “What do you think he's doing down there?”

“Finding some way to come after us.”

Kakarot laughed. “Well, won't he be surprised?”

Amara placed her hand on the back of Bulma's chair. “Are you still hanging in there?”

She nodded. “Yes…barely. I never knew carrying a child was so much work.”

Amara laughed. “Not only a child…a Saiya-jin child. That's probably why he's taking such a toll on your body.”

“Maybe he's waiting for his father to return before he comes out,” Chi Chi joked.

“Maybe so.” Everyone turned to see Aisha enter the room. Amara stood up straighter and frowned slightly.

“Are the men there safely?”

Bulma looked at Amara's mother and then back to the screen in front of her. “Tomorrow they'll reach the planet and land. Things are going well. I expected it to take longer for them to arrive.”

“Good,” Aisha said, closing the door.

“Mother?” Amara asked. “Since when did you become interested in this mission?”

“I don't want a fatherless grandchild.”

Amara's eyes doubled in size. “Excuse me?”

“I passed your… soldier in the hallway with his younger brother and Prince Vegeta. They were talking about pregnancy. At first I was shocked, but after I passed them I was wondering why they would be speaking of such things. After listening to them for a while, Bardock's youngest son asked if you were pregnant, Radditz confirmed this.”

There was a heavy silence in the room. Not even anyone's breathing was audible.

“Yes,” Amara finally said. “You heard right.”

Aisha nodded. “Then I wish him luck on that planet.” She looked at the screen and everyone followed his gaze. Her eyes moved to her daughter again. “I can show you a few things about caring for a child…if you're willing to listen.”

There were so many smart-aleck replies Amara could have said, but instead she nodded. “I'm willing to give it a try.”

Aisha closed her eyes. “When they return, it will be as if all things have changed.”

“A new beginning,” Bulma said. “For everyone. I'm going to tell my father that I choose to live here.” She paused. “I know he won't like it...but that's his problem.”

“You'll make a wonderful queen,” Chi Chi said.

“Under any other circumstances, I think they would be some awkward feelings about an earthling becoming a Saiya-jin queen, but the people of Vegeta-sei are probably just tired of being lied to. With Malem gone and a new king, I'm sure you'll be accepted.”

Bulma smiled at Amara. “Thank you.”

Aisha took a seat in one of the chairs. “Tell me, how does our prince and his soldiers plan to take care of Frieza?”

Chi Chi looked at Amara, who shrugged and look to Bulma, who seemed to be surprised by the question.

“I-I don't really know,” Amara admitted. “Radditz never spoke of their methods…but now that I think about it, he seemed rather confident for some reason. Did Kakarot ever talk to you about it, Chi Chi?”

The raven-haired woman shook her head. “Not really. He spoke briefly about the men training. He told me that normally Saiya-jins didn't train, they just learned by fighting their opponents, but different times called for different measures.”

Bulma placed her hand under her chin. “Well…”

All eyes were on her. Amara leaned against a counter. “You know something, don't you Bulma?”

She frowned. “Vegeta said something about having something up his sleeve.”

“Oh really?”

She nodded. “He didn't say what it was, but he was pretty confident it would rid us of Frieza.”

“Maybe the boys have some secret that they don't want anyone to know just yet,” Chi Chi offered.

The laboratory door opened and Bardock stepped inside. He seemed surprised to see the four women inside of the room. He nodded at them and moved to busy himself with something.

Aisha stood and brushed off her clothes, though her garments were void of wrinkles. “Bardock?”

He glanced at her. “Yes?”

“What would you know of a secret plan Prince Vegeta and his soldiers
intend to use against Frieza?”

He blinked. “Secret plan?”

Amara sighed. “Either he's clueless or he's lying.”

“I have no idea how the Prince intends to destroy Frieza,” Bardock said. “Why don't you just wait and see? It's going to happen tomorrow right?”

Bulma nodded. “Right.” She smiled. “Maybe we shouldn't ask so many questions. We'll just have to have faith in our men.”

“I suppose you're right,” Amara said finally.

Bulma touched her hand to her belly as the child within her began to kick. She laughed. “It looks like my son has faith in his father, too.”

A/N: Hey, sorry this chapter was so short, but I needed to lead up to the battle with Frieza, not just jump into it. Get ready for the climax of the story! Next time the boys land on Nyoka and give the gender-confused lizard a little surprise visit. It's to die for!
