Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Twisted Dimensions ❯ Doesn't Last Long ( Chapter 2 )

Stepping from the portal, Sheba's voice met my ears, "Hey! Get back in there, no one can come in here until we get this situation under control!"
I glanced over to the side to see her directing the traffic. Some authors were trying to get into the dimension. But with Sheba waving around her sword, there wouldn't be too much of a problem. I saw my gift to her, a silver and gold bracelet that looked like a dragon biting his tail.
Just in case you're wondering, portals can only open up wherever we, the portal keepers, are. It makes things a lot easier for us. The only problem is they'll open up even if you're asleep or unconscious.
That's why we really enforce the rule "don't fall asleep on the job".
Ali Mystic was hovering a few feet away with her arms crossed. Her gift from Sheba was a necklace made up of tiny, light blue dragonballs. She was currently watching Cell making sure he didn't try anything funny.
Cell was busy glaring at all of us as Lindsey and I floated so that we made a triangle surrounding him, "Well Cell," I spoke up, causing him to whirl around to face me, "What do you have to say for yourself this time?"
"Uh, I needed some fresh air?" Cell answered, still looking for an escape route.
"Gee, somehow I'm not convinced," Lindsey said rolling her eyes.
"You know our deal Cell," Ali Mystic said, a smirk graced her lips, "You know what has to happen since you broke the rules."
Cell's face shifted to panic, "Anything but that! Please!?"
The three of us exchanged glances and smirks, "Anything?" Lindsey asked in an innocent voice that just screamed trouble. Her hand drifted up to an earring, her gift from Ali. The earrings were small glass bottles with fire flickering around inside.
Cell seemed to be weighing out everything, "Uh..."
"Well, here are your choices," Ali Mystic said grinning, "One, you go with the punishment we agreed on in the first place..."
"Two," Lindsey said, "You can strut around FF.net in a Barney suit for an entire week..."
"Or you could go back to the HFIL and spend the rest of eternity with Freeza and his goofs in that tiny, little cell," I finished.
Cell's eyes went wide at the two new suggestions, "On second thought...I'll go with number one..."
"Good choice," I said as I floated to him, "Perhaps you'll think twice whenever you want to go on a joy flight."
Cell lowered his eyes to the ground way below us and he slowly nodded.
You're probably wondering, "If this is the real Cell, then why is he so out of character?"
Well, his character now is the result of living with crazy authors for a couple of months.
Not wanting to waste anymore time, I let the end of my staff rest on Cell's shoulder and changed him into a harmless grasshopper. Our first agreement on punishment. Only for a short week though.
Cell as a grasshopper has huge magenta eyes, green wings speckled with black, and yellow legs.
Ali Mystic glided over and made a jar out of thin air and scooped Cell into it. The lid had to have holes in it, we didn't want the poor character to die just yet.
"Are you guys done yet?!" Sheba asked glancing at us, "There are people wanting to get in you know!"
"Ugh! We're done!" Lindsey said, "Now if you excuse me, I'll get back to my work."
With that said, she turned around and opened up another portal to disappear into. Probably somewhere near Gohan's house to let people in and out through her portal.
I turned to Ali Mystic, "I'll take Cell back to CatGirl."
She nodded and placed the jar into my outstretched hand, "Don't be too long."
I nodded, and tucked my staff under one arm so I could open my portal, "I'll be back soon."
Silence surrounded me as the curtain fell back into place. The reds and purples flowed and melted together, it made the place seem alive.
I walked forward a bit and then a little to the right before I separated the air.
Home again. FanFiction.net. Think of those really tall business buildings with the white interior, lots of corridors to get lost in, and small rooms that act like virtual reality simulations.
I stepped onto a white marble floor and looked around. Authors were seated in front of computer screens and monitoring the traffic in to the DragonBall Z world. I didn't see CatGirl though...
I gave Wolfcry a wave as I started walking back to the virtual reality rooms. I had to find CatGirl to let her take care of Cell.
These rooms I keep talking about are like an author's working station. You can write your fics in them and then play them out in virtual reality. It's really cool. Think a big movie, only you are "in" the movie.
It's better than the real dimension because you can mess with the original characters and not hurt the timeline.
Still not making any sense? Ok, say you write a romance between Dende and some character you made up. You can do that in your virtual reality world because it's not happening to the real characters in the real timeline.
I found CatGirl's room easily enough. Just a simple white door with her name on it in shiny letters and cool little designs on it. I knocked on the door a couple of times before I let myself in.
The room was empty.
"Hmm...," I thought about where she would be. Probably looking for Cell.
I turned and walked to another door. The name on the door read "Yiku, Saiyan Princess". Yiku has control over the intercom system on the entire DBZ floor. Best way to give someone a message.
Yiku has shoulder-length black hair, and a little widow's peak.
She has black onyx eyes filled with various feelings. Yiku has a scar on the right side of her face, starting above her eye, going down to her cheek. She has a crystal necklace and a snake tattoo twisting down her right arm. She wears a blue tank top that stops just above her belly button under a denim blue jacket and white baggy pants with bear feet and an ankle bracelet and a toe ring. Like Sheba, her weapon is a sword. She has biker gloves and wings that can sprout out of her back, and Yiku has a German temper so stay on her good side.
I can hear music as I step up to the door, so I don't bother with knocking, Yiku's not going to hear it anyway.
I open the door to a forest scene, loud music seems to come from the very trees. The air is a little bit damp, but still fresh.
Now in reality, this room is small. But thanks to virtual reality, it can be limitless. Like a mind. No paper big enough, and no pencil sharp enough to express it.
I closed the door behind me and look up to see a bright, blue sky. No clouds to be seen. I levitate until I'm a little bit higher than the tops of the trees. Past the forest is a desert, well actually what used to be part of a green field. It just looked like a wasteland now.
And I spotted the reason why too. There were two figures off in the distance, both appeared to be fighting the other. It explained why the ground was cover with craters. The music told me Yiku was training again.
Now since this was Yiku's room, I couldn't alter anything. I couldn't turn off the music, can't change the landscape. So I just flew on over to the battleground. As I got closer, I saw that her sparring partner was Vegeta. Her Vegeta in a sense.
He spotted me first and pointed at me. Yiku stopped her assault and turned towards me. She nodded and gave a small wave.
The music lessened a bit as I touched the ground again, "Sorry to interrupt training, but I really need to use your intercom."
Yiku slid her sword home, and shook her head, "No problem at all."
She waved her hand around the room and the terrain faded back into the small white room. The air lost its dampness and the light came from ceiling lamps. Vegeta faded into nothing.
"Over here," She directed me to a table with a microphone on it. There were two buttons on the microphone stand, one blue the other red. Blue meant "on", red meant "off".
I pushed the blue button and started speaking, "CatGirl-13 please come to your room at this time, someone will be waiting for you there. CatGirl-13." I pushed the red button.
"Geez P.G. you sound like a nurse or something," Yiku smirked, "Please come on in, the doctor can see you now."
I rolled my eyes, "Tell me about it." I opened the door to leave, "Thanks again."
"Don't mention it," Yiku called out to me as I left. When the door was securely shut once more the loud music started up again.
I headed towards CatGirl's room once again. Down a corridor, turn left and it should be at the end of that row.
As I was turning, someone smacked into me and I ended up on the ground, "Ow..."
I glanced up knowing CatGirl's voice, "Hey you!"
At the sound of my voice, she glanced up and grinned sheepishly at me, "Sorry chica, didn't see ya there."
"Eh, don't worry about it," I said as I got up. I offered a hand to her, which she took, "I was the one who called you on the intercom anyway."
"Yeah, I kinda thought it was you. What did you need?" She asked.
I held out Cell's jar, "You lose someone?"
Cat took the jar from me and held it in front of her face, her expression unreadable, "Cell? Is that really you?"
The grasshopper in the jar turned towards CatGirl and made a sad-sounding chirp.
"My gosh! It really is him!" Cat exclaimed, "What did I tell you!? I tried to tell you that they would catch you, but noooo."
I stifled a laugh, "Well, as much as I'd like to stay, I do have work to do," I turned to leave, but then I stopped and called over my shoulder, "Cat, you have to remember to take him out of the jar this time "before" he turns back to normal."
CatGirl put and hand behind her head, "I assure you that won't happen again!"
Well, we all should hope not. As you can guess this has happened before, and when Cell changed back into his normal form...well, it wasn't very comfortable for our little friend. Why didn't the jar break? Great question, easy answer. We made the glass especially for this kind of punishment, we can't have glass broken all the time!
Especially not by a super powered grasshopper!
Halfway back to the portal entrances, I noticed my legs were a little sore from hanging in the tree for three hours. Maybe a nice jog could loosen them up. I could do that in the DBZ world and still monitor anyone coming through my portals.
I just had to make sure I wouldn't run into any of the main characters. Rules are rules. No matter how unfair they are.
As I neared the portal site, I spotted RainyDayz monitoring one of the computers. Her green eyes were focused intently on the screen in front of her. I came up behind her and shook her shoulders a bit, causing her to jump in her seat.
"Jenny!" She hissed, "Don't do that!"
"Just playing chica!" I said in defense, "I need a favor."
"And just what would that be?" Rainy asked, pushing back a lock of brown hair that had fallen on her face.
"I need to know where Piccolo is so I don't bump into him," I answered.
"Huh? Did you just say so you don't bump into him?" She asked in bewilderment.
I nodded, "I'm going for a little run and I don't really want to run in circles around him."
Rainy laughed, "Point," Her fingers flew across the keyboard. She brought up a map and a grid and, with a few more strokes of the keyboard, located Piccolo.
"He's in West City, probably some party at Capsule Corp.," Catie told me.
I nodded as I glanced over the map again, "Then I'll go to the woods near East City."
"Be careful chica!" Catie advised as I opened the portal.
I turned and gave her one of my grins, "Aren't I always?"
