Nine: Aftermath

; Trunks landed somewhere within a few miles of his father and Goku, not wanting to be a distraction for whatever they were involved in. He masked his ki enough to be able to go unnoticed, and by the way things felt at that moment, it didn't matter much. His original goal was to find them and figure out the cause for Rai-en's hasty retreat but now he took notice of the fact they were caught up in the midst of something far more important. He was now able to catch sight of the young saiyan giving it her all against the other woman. He had to say he was extremely surprised that the two of them held as much power as he could sense. Moreover he never expected that much to be radiating from the unnamed opponent. She looked so harmless, at least from where he stood. He was still too far to make out every detail but he had a basic idea of what she looked like and she hardly resembled anything he would be afraid of, rather amazed by. Well no matter, because the innevitable was always a possibility when it had to do with his family and the fellow z-fighters so why should he be so surprised.
The fight seemed less intense then he thought, but then by the looks of it they must have been going at it for a little while. Rai seemed worn out...which was understandable yet her opponent looked like she had just gotten started. That couldn't be good, but he held back the urge to rush out there and aid her, although...he assumed that by the way his father and Goku weren't involved yet, that she had it under control.

The determined young fighter continued her righteous assualt, not faultering again. She dodged an oncoming fist, then closed the gap with a lunge forward ready to make contact with her next hit. To her misfortune the attack was expected and blocked easily. The onyx-eyed female grasped the girl's arm and pulled her roughly to her, keeping a firm hold on her altogether. Rai used this position to her advantage and while the woman held fast to her arms, she jumped up from the ground, stabling herself as she attempted to what seemed like climb upwards, and once she neared the top flipped, landing with ease behind her opponent making it so she now were restraining her instead.
The girl snickered softly. "I'm going to beat you beyond mortal comprehenshin! Give up now and maybe I'll make your end fast and less painful...much different than the way you killed my father!"
The scarlet haired fighter scowled and took not too lightly to the teen's threats. She wasn't going to be outdone by some sixteen year old brat with a bad temper, she was going to show the child her mistale in being so confident. "Hmph...I won't let a child outclass me. You think you're winnig because I didn't expect to fight you in the first place so I've been messing with you the whole time...as for your pathetic father...I should have killed him the minute you were born!"
These last few words threw Rai off a bit..."What?! What the hell does that mean__" She had dropped her gaurd, allowing her mind to wander making it easy for the woman to break free. She thrusted her arm backward into the girl's mid-section. Rai-en doubled over and held her arm beneath her as she stumbled back, again letting her gaurd down exposing her bare neck to the female just before she came down with a usually paralyzing blow, to the most sensitve spot, although it was just enough to knock her out as she fell to the ground.
Upon her fall Goku, outraged, rushed onto the scene. "No! That's it...I wont let her get off with that!" Trunks made his presence known immediately as he appeared at his father's side within seconds. "Dad! What's going on?!"
Vegeta, slightly irritated by this whole thing, didn't make much effort to explain to his son what was happening. "Trunks...go home. I don't need you out here anymore than she should have been. Go tell your mother to make up a guest room."
Trunks stood there puzzled for a moment staring at his father. Vegeta grew impatient with his son just standing there. "Trunks!" He took that as his cue and obeyed. "Sorry dad. Right then...i'll see you later." In seconds he was off on his way back home.
Vegeta addressed Goku, "Kakarot! Get over here." The younger saiyan appeared at his side quickly. "What's up...Vegeta. Is there a problem?"
He didn't answer his question before he said what his plan was. "You take care of the kid...i'll deal with the onna." Goku agreed for a moment before he realized what he had just said. "Wait! Vegeta you can't just__" It was too late, Vegeta had casually made his presence on the battle-field.
The deadly beauty was faced with her next challenge. At first she took a few moments to study him carefully, examining his fine features. Soon she was able to put a name to his familar face as she grinned and stepped back from him. "Now this is a twist of events. As convenient as this situation is...I'm afraid I'll have to deal with you at a later time. Yet at least I know just where to find you, how interestingly ironic can it get." In a enticing manner, she blew the now agitated Vegeta a kiss. "My prince." With a burst of ki she took to the skies and was off in a matter of seconds.
Vegeta sneered at her sudden disapearence. "Coward!" He didn't like the fact she retreated so suddenly, and to make matters worse she had the nerve to taunt him. He hadn't the slightest clue who she was yet but it seemed that she had an idea of just who he was by the way she referred to him as *my prince*. He also recalled the fact that she would be back...that she had been extremely pleased to see him as though it were appropriate she should find him. He was taken from his thoughts by his saiyan counterpart.
Goku stood beside him now, holding Rai. He glanced at Vegeta curiously. "Let's head out before anything else happens. I don't think that woman's business here is finished by the way she talked to you, but I dont want to be around when she comes back."
Vegeta turned to him with his usual grin once more. "It's not like you to run from a fight Kakarot, im surprised."
Goku was about to respond when his stomach did for him, grumbling rather loudly. He laughed sheepishly. "Who said anything about running from a fight! Are you kidding me, I'd rather face her than ChiChi if I dont get home soon! Not to mention I'm hungry!" The two saiyans agreed to head back to Capsule Corp., they had to let the others in on what happened.

They landed on the grounds of the enormous building and were immediately ushered inside. Bulma took the still form of the girl and brought her right upstairs to the room she prepared. She had chosen a room in the same hallway as Bra and Trunks, since they got along so well she figured it would be perfect. Upon entering the room you wouldn't have even noticed that it's never been opened before today the way Bulma had set it up. It was perfect for a teen girl...something she picked up on from Bra. The bed looked pretty cozy, and large enough to fit two people; the colors weren't objective in any way...and she had chosen a room with a balcony access just for the heck of it. She drew back the top cover and gently set the teen girl down against the soft sheets, then bringing them back over her.
She took a moment to look her over, brushing away a few stray pieces of her hair. She already felt close to her, and she hardly knew her. She wondered if Vegeta would ever take the time to get to know her, maybe he wouldn't be so quick to judge his brother if he knew more about their situations. Well either way, she was happy to have her guests, although she was rather curious about what went on out there. She made sure everything was just right before she turned out the lights and headed back downstairs. Upon entering the living room she noticed Goku had left already, Trunks was sitting on the sofa watching tv and there was no sign of Vegeta. She shrugged figuring him to have gone out to train some more, and retreated back upstairs.
Turning the corner she walked into the room, the door being wide open didn't surprise her but...seeing Vegeta standing out on the balcony staring off into the distance was. She quietly shut the door not wanting to break the silence that eveloped the entire room. Although her attempts to be silent weren't exactly easy considering how sharp his hearing was, but her presence didn't seem to stir him from his pensive state. Padding softly out to the balcony behind him, she then took notice of the expression on his face. It wasn't his typical scowl, smirk or even his usual *no emotion whatsoever* look; instead she found him relaxed somewhat but awfully deep in thought. Unlike he had ever really done, his thoughts showed through his rough exterior. She strolled up beside him, and without a word as though it were on cue he slipped his arm around her waist and held her as he continued to look out into the night.
She shifted her gaze to where his was not wanting to break the silence or kill the peaceful mood at the moment but she had to know what happened. She kept her voice low, nearly a whisper trying to keep some of the tranquilness of the moment; "Vegeta...what...what exactly happened out there?"
He followed her example, his voice low and calm. Yet his reply contradicted anything that the serene atmosphere around them implied. "Short of a complete tragedy I would say. The first among a never-ending catastrophe."
She gazed up at him strangely, his answer confused her and she was suposed to be a genius. Well that's just the way his mind worked she guessed, he could puzzle even her without trying. "Care to explain? What actually happened?" She was pleased with his soft laugh, his way of agreeing. The next half-hour was spent revelling on the previous events of the day.
Bulma almost couldn't believe that all of that had happened within such a short time, although it was more than half the events most of their battles included. Yet the thought of having a permanent houseguest didn't bother her, and for some reason nor did it bother him. Although he left out the part where his brother had explained his true purpose for being here, some things he liked to keep from everyone, including her.
The night came to an end finally as they turned in, nothing more or nothing less before sleep claimed them.
