Four: Cat and Mouse

Back at Capsule Corp. Bra was bored sitting around at home. Sure her mother and brother were just a few floors up but she was still bored. Well, if she couldn't have company down here then she'd just have to go to them; she could bug Trunks for something to do.

Pressing the button by the elevator door, to go up. As big as their house was, she really didn't see any reason for an elevator. A few minutes passed and the doors automatically opened, allowing her to step in, and closing behind her. Another few short minutes passed and the doors re-opened and she stepped out into the long hallway leading to the large office where her mother and brother spent most of their free time. She padded quietly down the hall to the office which was already cracked open. Bra stuck her head inside and flashed her brother, who was sitting at his desk, an innocent smile. "Hi Trunks!"

He raised a brow at glared at her. "Whattya want? I'm kind of busy right now Bra don't bother me. Don't you have friends you can annoy?"
She stepped completely into the room now and began walking about the office while talking to him. "Come on Trunks, could you be a little bit helpful...you're ruining it for me. I came here to bother you and you're already annoyed with me and I just got here."
He rolled his eyes at her and kept working. "That's just too bad for you...now if you don't mind I'm busy. Go back downstairs and watch tv or something."
She sulked. "No way...it's boring downstairs so thats why I came up here, to see what you were doing. I'm all by myself downstairs anyway. Even if you are busy at least I have someone to keep me company up here."
Trunks, even though beyond irritated with her, tried to sound sympathetic. "Well you know how Dad gets about the idea of guys wanting to take you out. If you would have just told him where you were instead of pretending you were with Pan all day, you wouldn't be in this mess."

"Whatever Trunks...if you hadn't let Papa catch you after you came back from your date with Pan, I wouldn't have__" She was cut off.
"Would you two stop your arguing right now! Trunks get back to work, and Bra...why are you even here? You should be back downstairs."
The younger girl shrugged. "Sorry mom. I was just bored sitting at home all by myself." Bulma sighed, "That's fine. Go back downstairs and I'll be down soon I promise. Why don't you go find your father, I'm sure the two of you can find something to do."
The teen sulked once more. "Papa's not home...he went to go see Goku." Bulma let out another heavy sigh. "Okay fine." She turned to Trunks and called him over, "It has been a while since I spent a lot of time with you guys huh? Well let's go then...maybe we can find your father in time to go out tonight."
Bra jumped in excitement. "Awesome, thanks mom!" She rushed down the hall back to the elevator not waiting for her mother and brother.
Tearing right out of the elevator and into the living room as fast as she could, filled with excitement; it wasn't very often the whole family went out and did something together. As she waited patiently by the front door, a strong hand gripped her sholder. She spun on her heels quickly, expecting to see her brother or her father even; only to see a red-haired woman right before she recieved a violent hit to her mid-section and collapsed to the floor. Not so much as a cry escaped her throat before she finaly slipped out of conciousness.
Trunks' voice rang through the hall as he called out for his sister frantically, having sensed her ki drop dramatically. "Bra? Where are you?" He peered around the corner and saw the scarlet haired intruder standing over his little sister's still form.
He cursed silently to himself, but did his best not to get noticed, and continued to watch as she turned and snuck around back to the hall leading to his parents' bedroom; but he assumed upon not seeing anything or anyone in there she returned with a frown. Moving like a panther on the prowl she then crept up the stairs. Itwas at that moment Bulma came from around the corner in the hall, about to call out for Trunks. She came up behind him and nudged his shoulder. He turned around, "Ssh." He hushed her while pointing to the strange woman making her way upstairs. Bulma gasped and gave trunks a worried glance. He motioned for her to stay put, and proceeded to aide his litle sister, picking her up and carefully relocating her to the living room laying her down on one of the sofas.
Bulma was in a silent panic her daughter was out cold, her husband was out with Goku for who knows how long, so it was down to just her and her son with some woman invading their home. Trunks tiptoed quietly up the staircase trailing their "guest", who seemed to be leading him to his own bedroom. She came to the door and pushed it open, easily. Trunks just stood in the doorway observing her.

Almost as if upon pure instinct, the woman snatched up Trunks' sword and spun around holding the point to his throat threateningly. "Brat! I knew you were following behind me the whole way."
Trunks caught his breath, holding it as he cursed in his mind. /Shit! How did she know I was behind her?/ His eyes wandered to her slender waist and took notice of something wrapped securely around it, it was brown and furry resembling the tail of a saiyan. He fixed his eyes immediately back on her face. /No, she can't....can she?!/ He studied her features carefully, no doubt her features were quit saiyan-like; sharp well defined and her eyes were as black as onyx stones. She was, unfortunately for him, a saiyan. Telling just by her looks and skill, she had to be a full blooded saiyanas well. /Well this will tougher than I thought./
She grinned at him. "I nearly forgot that you were Vegeta's brat. You're a slick one you know, but that's not quite good enough to outsmart me." She phazed out ofview, reappearing behind him so fast it was only a blur. She hit Trunks with immense force where his neck met his back with the blunt end on the hilt of his sword; knocking him out cold. Right before he collapsed she tore the blue bandanna from his neck, tucked it away safely and went back downstairs. "Two down. . ."

She walked back out into the front room over to the sofa where the blue-haired demi-saiyan lay. Drawing the sword, she carefully took hold of a few strands of her hair and with a quick slice, she cut a small lock of her soft blue-green tresses. This as well, she tucked away safely with the aqquired article of cloth. /Now for that onna./
Bulma had waited for Trunks to come back down, but twenty minutes passed and she saw yet still no sign of her son, she knew something must have happened. She clapped her hand over mouth and cursed in her mind. /No not Trunks! Vegeta you baka! Where are you at a time like this?!/ She quickly turned around and made a dash for the door. So quick that Bulma never saw her move, the woman had beaten her to the door and blocked her path. "I don't want you to leave so soon. We haven't even taken the time to get properly aqquainted yet."
Bulma spun on her heels and made a break for the back door, but the saiyan woman stopped her halfway yet again. "Let me start . . . I'm Samara . . . I know so much about you, and . . . Vegeta. I knew him when we were just kids. In fact before you even came into the picture . . . there was me . . . it was planned that I would be right for him...but that damned Ice-jiin Frieza smashed any hopes of that happening."
This made Bulma gasp, as it only made things much worse for her. She realized that this woman, Samara was to her misfortune, a saiyan. She suppressed her fear, terrified but she wasn't about to show her. "Well too bad. It looks like I beat you to him, and he's quite happy here. Doesn't look like he ever lost any sleep over it."

The fiery haired woman raised her hand to Bulma, ready to hit her and swung yet immediately the human female intercepted the oncoming hand and twisted her arm away. This caused Samara to draw back in pain, "Damnitt!!" The blue haired genius stated with pride, "I'm not quite as helpless as you take me for!" She swiftly sprinted towards the door again, making it all the way finally. Rushing, she fumbled with the knob trying to turn it and tore the door right open and slipped out. Just before she could fully escape, Samara lunged for her arm and and atempted to pull her in. Yet Bulma was out the door enough to be able to hold her ground. The saiyan woman could only latch onto Bulma's left hand, yet managing to easily slip off a ring from off one of her fingers before she pulled her hand back and slammed the door shut. Thinking quickly she pulled out her cell phone and dialed Goku's number welcoming voice was the first she heard "Hello?" sighed with great relief, "Goku! Just who I need to talk tom, listen Goku is Vegeta there with you I really need to speak with him."voice grew serious in tone, " No Bulma . . . you mean he's not with you?"sighed heavily, this was starting to sound bad. "No, but it figures....right when I needed him the most."sounded slightly concerned now, "Bulma, what's wrong? Do you want me to come by?" replied more calmly, "No no, that's alright. Actually I'll come to you, and I'll explain what's been going on when I get there."oblidingly agreed. "Alright Bulma if you say so, you know I'm always willing to help out."words made her more confident. "Yes Goku thank you....I can handle getting there."trusted her to make it there safely. "Okay then...see you soon. Bye."that went well, "Bye." She hung up, and tucked her phone away again. Walking around to the front and to the driveway she pulled out her keys and got into her car.
