Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Unseen Battle ❯ chapter 2 ( Chapter 2 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
* Wow, you have no idea what a relief it it to finally get this out and onto paper. I’ve been struggling for the better half of two months to get this done. You see, the problem is that I know exactly how I want this story to go. I’ve got a beginning, a middle, and an awesome end (at least in my opinion). Now I’ve just got to get out the little details. Okay, so maybe writting the rest of the story is not just “little” details but as long as I keep going along with the plot I think that I’ll be alright... right? Anyways, I hope that you all enjoy this and I hope that nobody is too upset over the delay. :) *

Prince Vegeta suddenly realized the reason that he had come down here and his eyes shot over to the door. “I heard a voice,” he whispered. “It was trying to tell me something. It was coming from behind that door.”
He snapped his head back to Cole and looked down at him, “put me down you fool,” he growled. He was mildly surprised when Cole did so and put him down. “Come, we have to leave as soon as possible,” he whispered waiting for Prince Vegeta to follow him.
Something slammed up against the inside of the door making the iron handles and hinges shake violently. They both stared wide eyed at the door.
Cole quickly grabbed Prince Vegeta’s upper arm and tried to pull him down the corridor away from the door, but he violently resisted and the two struggled in the corridor relentlessly.
They both stopped and stared at the door neither daring to move a muscle as it slowly creaked open.....

There was a sharp intake of air from both of them. There was a large shadowed figure now in the doorway. It wasn’t moving at all; it was just standing there, never wavering. Price Vegeta narrowed his eyes at the immobile figure and tried to see what type of creature it was. Maybe it was some type of ferocious beast as Nappa had said. Cole’s grip on Price Vegeta’s arm increased intensely as he subconsciously gripped him tighter.
Cole drug Prince Vegeta over against the wall as the figure moved agonizingly slowly towards them. Cole stepped in front of Prince Vegeta and instantly knelt down on one knee on the soft blue rug. “My deepest apologizes... he was not aware that this area was off limits,” he said quickly never lifting his gave from the ground.
Still the figure walked slowly past him, paying him no attention and showing no comprehension of what he had just said. Cole cautiously looked up at the slowly retreating form with shock evident on his face. Prince Vegeta subconsciously backed up against the wall as the figure began to make its way towards him. With his back pressed against the cold hard stone his breath started coming in short, quick, restrained gasps.
The form now began to take on a human likeness, with a small frame and was cloaked in darkness from head to foot in a hooded cape. He could feel it now --- it was all around this person --- the presence that he had felt before. Coldness radiated off the figure. The sinister presence was there before him, or so he thought. It was having some adverse effect on him as his breathing began to become more and more labored with each step that the cloaked figure took.
It had almost passed right by Prince Vegeta but faltered in its steady steps and stopped right in front of him. Both Cole and he held their breath waiting for what was to come.
Without warning, the figure simply collapsed.

“What the hell happened to her?” Cole asked in a low voice across the room from Prince Vegeta attempting to prevent him from hearing anything. Little did he know though that saiyans had excellent hearing and that Prince Vegeta could hear everything clearly.
“I think that we all know exactly what it is that happened here,” Turfem started as he crossed his arms over his chest and focused his intent stare on Cole. “She must have been training herself as she usually does and unfortunately took it too far.”
“Don’t you even go there Turfem,” Cole said in a low menacing tone. “You know as well as I do that there is no way that she could have caused herself so much damage. I mean honestly, did you see her? There is no way that she did that to herself.”
Turfem gave him a knowing look, “she’s done it before, you and I both know that,” he whispered. Cole glared at him, “how dare you even bring that up. That was years ago and we fixed that problem. She wouldn’t do that to herself after so long.”
Prince Vegeta looked over his shoulder at the conversing men, then back down to the girl before him. She was lying on the cold metal table inside the IR (instant reconstructioning) machine, glowing under the yellow and red lights that worked to help her recover quickly. Her blue hair was cut short and spiked but in a tasteful manner. It was glowing a peculiar color of gold.
He had been informed that the girl before him was none other than Princess Bulma. This girl who looked no older than 18 years old was actually 977. He had expected an old hag, but she was absolutely gorgeous in every aspect, in every angle that she was viewed, even with the cuts and bruises all over her face. In fact, they seemed to add to the intensly beautiful women. In a word, she was perfect.
But he would have expected nothing less from the notoriously powerful ruler of the four universes. “Well,” the doctor said closely examining his notes. “She’s got 5 broken ribs, a fractured femur, a broken collarbone, and too many cuts and bruises to count. This is not what worries me because this is pretty conservative for her,” he said narrowing his eyes at the clipboard in his hands.
“What worries me is the deep wounds on her wrists. It seems to me that it was self-mutilation,” he whispered in a stern voice while looking up at Cole. “Not only that, but the ancient Gurian royal seal that was carved into her right wrist some years ago seems to have been burned,” he whispered just loud enough to be heard due to the sensitivity of the subject.
“The seal was burned?” Cole asked in disbelief. “What the hell do you mean it was burned?” he asked in a dangerously low tone.
“What I mean to say is...” he took some extra time to word it right. Prince Vegeta strained to hear what it was that he was saying from across the room. “...the Gurian seal on her wrist is no longer just carved into her skin, it seems as though it was branded onto her. And when I say branded, I mean that it is perfectly overlapping the previous one in that there is absolutely no distortion. It is an exact copy of the original one that she had. Do you follow?” he asked. Both Cole and Turfem stared at him in disbelief.
“So you mean to say that she branded over the ancient seal?” Turfem asked.
“That doesn’t make sense, she’s done everything that she can to hide that accused seal. The ancient Gurian royal seal was used back when the dreaded Aydradom was in reign over the universe. Why would she want to make it more prominent?” Cole added.
“I’m just giving you the facts. In all honesty, I don’t understand the reason behind most of the things that she does,” the doctor answered. He looked up uneasily at the two men realizing that he had just said that out loud and that it was enough to warrant his death at either of their hands, if not her own. He quickly stumbled over the next words averting his gaze down to the ground.
“She’ll be ready to get out in about two hours, but the damage to her wrist is irreversible. You can question her on that matter when she is fully healed.” The doctor turned and left the room.
Prince Vegeta looked down upon Princess Bulma for the last time and he actually jumped in surprise. She was still lying in the IR in the same position that she was in before. The only difference was that she was staring straight up at him. It wasn’t just a blank stare though, her gaze was intense and surprising cold and emotionless. Her eyes were that of Cole’s although instead of the intense green color, they were an ice blue lined in the center with the same intense green.
As she stared deep into his dark chocolate eyes, he felt as though he was bearing his soul to her, as though she could see through the facade that he had held up his entire life to prevent people from seeing the real Prince Vegeta under the surface, just as she was now.
“Prince Vegeta, come I’ll show you to your room,” Cole called out from across the room. Prince Vegeta’s head snapped over to where he had called from, then back down to the Princess --- and it was gone. Just as suddenly as she had focused her intense gaze upon him, it was gone. There was no evidence that she had even opened her eyes, she was in the same state that she was in before.
“Prince Vegeta!” Turfem called this time, “come we must be on our way.” He cast one more gaze down at the supposed unconscious figure of the Princess and then followed the two men out of the room.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ;>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>& gt;>

He sat silently, never moving, just waiting. Waiting and watching for his comrade to come out of his trance. Not to say that he minded the silence, not at all, after all, how many hours had he sat in this exact position over the years knowing that his company was the only thing that the man before him required. Of course the occasional spar helped. He never liked to disturb his comrade when he was in such states as this, he seemed almost peaceful. He examined him from his safe distance on the lush green grass. He was in the same position that he was in over an hour ago, arms crossed over his chest and the ever-present scowl across his face.
The only evidence that he was still alive was the steady rise and fall of his chest. As of lately he seemed to be contemplating something very intently, ever since the incident earlier that morning with the princess that is. He didn’t seem like his usual arrogant, cocky, and otherwise rude self. He seemed distraught, and to some extent he seemed worried.
Although it was a subtle change, Nappa was able to pick it up easily. He had been the Prince’s sparring partner, tutor, and to some extent (although neither of them would admit it) friend ever since his mother had died in labor with him and had left the Prince in his charge. He knew every quirk, every gesture, and every emotion that the young Prince ever tried to suppress, and Prince Vegeta hated it.
So while everyone was oblivious to the change in his attitude, Nappa’s ever watching eye caught it. It had been Nappa himself who had taught Prince Vegeta the importance of hiding his emotions. To the saiyans, it was dangerous to show your emotions, especially love. It was considered a disgrace to openly show your affection for anyone, even your own kin. To show your emotion was to show your enemies your weakness. So especially in the case of royalty, they saw it as crucial to hide emotion and therefore, hide all weaknesses.
But perhaps there was some sense to this because the saiyans have strived above all other races and are the most powerful besides the Gurians, who by nature were powerful warriors as well.
The differences in the two races was not unnoticeable. Where as the saiyans were bloodthirsty and it was in there nature to battle they took immense pleasure in “looking for the next great battle” to challenge themselves and push it to the limit, the Gurians were much more elegant and relied a lot on technology instead of brute force to protect themselves.
This was evident in the elaborate security system that protected the planet. The Princess herself had designed it. Some say that it was out of fear that Aydradom would return someday and take his revenge on the planet. Nobody protested when it was installed though because the very same thought lingered in everyone’s mind from time to time.
It hovered hundreds of thousands of miles above the planet’s surface. It was a gigantic ‘x’ that acted as a force field for the planet. Whenever a spacecraft came close enough to the planet, the invisible force field would repel the ship until permitted inside after authorization or shot down if hostile actions were taken. All of this was controlled down on the surface.
The system was maintained on Guri in various control stations around the world including in its capitol. The metal ‘x’ activates the lethal force field, which, in a sense wraps around the ‘x’ and forms a sphere around it all, a sort of shield against the rest of the universes.
The intense security system was called “Gurians Belt” for obvious reasons. This was what had caused the saiyans to be late arriving on the planet. This was the “ridiculous” security system that Prince Vegeta had referred to upon meeting Cole and Turfem.
Prince Vegeta opened his eyes to find Nappa staring at him. “What is it you fool?” he snarled at the man sitting not too far away from him. “Nothing,” the man replied quickly. Prince Vegeta took a look at his surroundings for a moment noting its similarities with the courtyard at the palace back on his home planet of Vegeta-sei.
“My Prince, the sun has almost set, perhaps we should assemble the men and go to the Great Hall for the meeting that we were instructed to attend,” he nearly whispered hoping not to disturb Vegeta.
The Prince looked thoughtful for a moment then rose without another word to prepare for the meeting that was starting shortly. The one that the Princess was going to be present at.
