Dragon Ball/Z/GT Fan Fiction ❯ Unseen Battle ❯ Chapter 3 ( Chapter 3 )

*I don’t know, I just got a burst of inspiration for this chapter. I’m not sure if it’s very good, but I thought that it was necessary to go ahead and explain exactly why everyone was on Guri and the extreme severity of the situation. Hopefully you’ll get that from this chapter and I apologize for the delay, I’m trying to do the next chapter right now and I’m about half way done so you can expect it out soon. Thanks for reading and please review. Enjoy :) *

There was a hushed murmur that emanated from the large spectacular room. Prince Vegeta stood at the top of the marble stairs at the entrance of the Grand Hall looking over the long oaken table. And just as he had suspected, it had the leaders of all the major warrior races from across the four universes, some he recognized from previous discrepancies.
It was a large group of powerful races, but it was a much smaller number then that of one hundred years ago. Their number was slowly declining because of civil war, mutiny, and subjugation by other warrior races. Races with technology and advanced sciences were coming into power more and more across the universes.
The prince’s eyes wandered up to the head of the table. She had her back leaning up against one arm of the chair with one leg dangling over the other. She had one hand resting on her knee and the other propping up her head on the arm of the chair. She concentrated her fiercely cold stare on Prince Vegeta, her face void of all emotion. Cole was sitting to the right of the Princess and traced her stare to the object of its concentration. A knowing grin spread onto his handsome face.
“Ahhh, Prince Vegeta,” he called out across the room. All the conversation in the room ceased at the mention of this ruthless ruler’s name. Cole stood up and gestured to the two empty seats next to him, “why don’t you have a seat?” Vegeta glared at the many prying stares and soon the conversations began to start up again and the excited buzz of people exchanging theories on the nature of the meeting continued. Most shared the common notion that whatever it was, it was serious enough to gather up the warrior races of every universe.
Vegeta focused his attention back on the Princess and her never wavering stare. He felt entranced under her intense stare and compelled not to look away. The only other person that seemed to notice this unnerving exchange was Cole and he seemed to be down right amused with the entire thing, excited even. Princess Bulma continued to stare at Prince Vegeta as he proceeded to take his seat to the right of the royal Gurian knight and Nappa took his seat next to the Prince.
As soon as the two were settled in, Bulma closed her eyes and seemed to be mentally preparing herself for what was to come next. Her eyes flashed open with a new intensity and she slowly stood up. The sound of her chair scrapping against the cold marble floor had the attention of everyone in the room and a momentary silence ensued.
“I thank you all for responding so quickly to my personal request the you be present here today,” rang out her soft and yet powerful voice. “You were all give very little time to get here and were not even told why and yet you all came swiftly. And it is for this reason that I wanted to personally thank all of you.” She shifted her weight to her left foot and placed her right hand on the hilt of her sword attached to her right hip, a stance they would find that she often took.
Her eyes wandered over the group of men whom all averted their gaze so not to look her in the eye. “As you are all aware, the security system that protects this planet was designed by myself, and although some of you think it a hassle, it is a completely necessary precaution to ensure the safety of Guri.” Her gaze focused on Prince Vegeta and he scowled back as was normal for him. If it had been anyone else that made such a reference to him, he undoubtedly would have lashed out and harmed the person.
“Every planet that exists could be destroyed but as long as Guri is safe and still under my rule, there is hope.” There was a murmur and a lot of uncomfortable shifting throughout the room at this unsettling comment. “This goes both ways though, and our enemies know this, so maybe now you can understand the immense importance of Gurian’s Belt and the purpose that it serves. I call upon you now as our greatest foe plots against Guri and even as we speak gathers an army unparalleled in power, size, and strength.”
The murmur that ran through the room only moments ago was now an outright roar. There was a lot of uncertainty and disbelief coming from the men. Finally an older warrior stood up and slammed his fist onto the table, his face scarred and a patch over his left eye. “Please, tell us Princess, who threatens the Gurian empire? Better yet, who has the power to pose such a threat that you would need to enlist our help? You are the strongest being alive, your power and strength is legendary and your armies unbeatable and unmatched, how is this possible, who is their leader?”
A roar of agreement echoed through the Hall. The Princess raised her hand to silence the men and they proceeded to take their seats and waited for her to continue.
“Who?” she asked raising her eyes to examine the enthusiastic faces of the leaders before her. “Aydradom is who,” she stated clearly and loudly so that there would be no mistaking it. There was a large intake of air from nearly every single person in the room. Cole sat quietly by Bulma’s side and waited for the disaster that was about to happen.
There were many reactions ranging from shock to fear, with many wide eyes, dropped jaws, and speechless faces.
“No... no... it’s not possible, the Immortal Demon was destroyed over two hundred years ago,” one man whispered having some trouble saying the name. “You know that Princess Bulma! YOU know that! It’s just not possible!” There was an enormous uproar in the Hall and the Princess simply sat down in her former position and closed her eyes. Cole sighed and slid down in his chair next to Vegeta and watched in distaste as the group of men argued and bickered with one another over what should be done.
Almost ten minutes had passed and the noise in the Hall had yet to cease and Cole was growing more and more agitated by their blunt disregard for Princess Bulma as each minute passed. He shot up from his seat and shouted at the top of his lungs, “QUIET!”
The men sat down under the enraged glare of the young and handsome royal Gurian knight. As soon as everyone was seated and quiet he continued, “I think that you men forget whose presence you’re in. How dare you act in such a way in front of Princess Bulma!” he shouted. He looked over at her and she lazily opened her eyes and stood up after he took his seat next to her.
Her hand tightened around the hilt of her sword. “As the legend goes, after the ALMIGHTY escaped, Aydradom disappeared, I fail to see where it says that the ALMIGHTY destroyed Aydradom. In fact, seeing as how I was there 200 years ago when all of this happened, I don’t seem to recall there being a battle between the two at all,” she said looking at the confused men. “How about you Cole, do you remember any such thing?” she asked looking at the knight. “You were there also, do you remember a battle between the ALMIGHTY and Aydradom?”
Cole narrowed his eyes slightly, “No of course not, if a battle that legendary went down, everybody would know and remember it.” The two Gurians continued to stare at one another for a moment, then Princess Bulma nodded and looked back at the men, whom all seemed very confused by everything that was said.
“Now what I am about to ask you for is your complete loyalty and commitment. I need from each of you to give me anything that I ask without hesitation or delay on your part. The major issue at hand at this point is time, which we have very little of. If you will agree to these conditions, I ask you to stand up.” She barely had the words out of her mouth before nearly half of the men stood up, ready to fight. A few of the men had once before fallen under the wrath of the Princess and knew it was not wise to oppose her. Most were sincerely devoted to her and her legendary leadership and power.
Slowly every man stood up until Prince Vegeta and his companion Nappa were the only ones seated. Prince Vegeta was concentrating rather hard on a groove in the enormous oaken table in front of him. All eyes were on him, including Bulma’s.
“Have you fallen asleep Prince Vegeta or is this too much for you to comprehend?” she asked in a mocking tone. There were several half-hidden chuckles throughout the room. Prince Vegeta’ eyes shot up to look at the Princess and he glared fiercely at her and even growled lightly at her attempt to insult him.
Had she been ANYONE else he would have killed her for such an insult, and if they were lucky he would have just beaten them into a bloody pulp. But no, there was no way that he would be able to get away with something like that now. He would just have to wait until they were alone to attempt anything. Instead he just smirked, it was the same sinister smirk that Nappa had seen countless times before and braced himself for what was going to happen next. “No Your Highness,” Vegeta whispered putting extra emphasis on her title. “But I was just wondering, who exactly would be leading us into this war?” The two locked gazes and neither wavered.
Princess Bulma raised one eyebrow, “I will of course, unless you were thinking you’d be up to the challenge Prince Vegeta,” she said slowly. Everyone in the room could feel the tension building between the two mighty forces and some expected a battle to come out of it.
Prince Vegeta nodded his head, “well I just figured that we should have someone leading us who is...” he paused, mocking consideration for his next words “... mentally stable and not a danger to themself.” Nobody dared to say anything but the shock was evident throughout the room. Vegeta continued with his sinister smirk and Bulma seemed to be calculating him and remained silent, although the grip on her sword tightened noticeably. A while later, she seemed satisfied with what she saw and countered his smirk with her own which in all aspects was fiercer and colder than his. She was calling his bluff.
“I’m afraid I don’t know what you are talking about Prince Vegeta,” she replied at last.
“Don’t you?” he asked. “I sometimes push myself so hard when I train that I spend days in an IR to recover from near death, in fact, I am known for such things. But I must say that I’ve never actually tried to kill myself while I’m training by cutting up my wrists.” Vegeta shot at her.
All eyes were on princess Bulma but she seemed unaffected by the prying stares. “Well I can’t imagine that anyone would, but thank you for clearing that up for all of us. Now are you finished? Will you commit to me or not Prince Vegeta? I will not beg you to, I simply need to know where your loyalties lie.” Prince Vegeta smirked at how swiftly she changed the subject and slowly stood up, he would corner her later on the subject.
“I will commit to Guri if only to save my own planet,” he replied. Bulma nodded slowly, “if you’ll all have a seat I will discuss with you what it is that I require.”
She looked over at Cole who nodded his head in approval of how she was handling the situation. “I’m not going to beat around the subject,” she started, “but I need anything and everything that you have in your military. I need weapons, armor, any type of defense equipment that you have and most importantly, your armies. Leave behind no man that can fight, I need both your elite and your weak.
I am also going to need a substantial amount of funds to maintain such a large army here on Guri. Now if you’ll be quick to gather these necessary things, I must begin to make the proper accommodations,” she stated and began to converse with Cole as the many chairs scrapped against the cold floor.
One man spoke up, “Your Highness, forgive me, but if we are to supply you with everything that you request, who will be left behind to protect our own planets?”
Princess Bulma looked around at the men and seeing that it was a question on everyone’s mind, she replied, “as I have said before, Aydradom knows that if he can gain control of Guri, he will automatically have control of anything and everything within his grasp. This is how I know that he will come to Guri first, because without Guri, there is no hope. And please, don’t tell anyone of what was said here today. The last thing that I need is mass hysteria.”
With that in mind the men left to make plans.
“Prince Vegeta!” Bulma called out just before he was out the door. He turned around and found her in her usual stance and her piercing gaze focused entirely on him.
“I think that it’s time we talked in private.”
