Chapter 5

Goku was flying along at a leisurely pace when he glanced back at his son who was busy watching a flock of dinosaurs. Wearing a challenging look he decided to increase his speed to see if Goten would notice. Then he accelerated his speed leaving his son far behind.

Goten finally noticed that his father was rapidly disappearing from his field of vision. He brought on a burst of speed of his own trying to catch up with the vanishing figure.

" That's not fair," he complained once he had caught up, " Warn a guy next time."

" You were so busy watching that family of dinosaurs that I wanted to see if you would notice."

Goten made a face at him as they landed on Capsule Corp property. Goku looked around to see if he could find any changes since their last visit. It had been a few years since he had been over. These days it seemed so easy to lose track of time.

He walked in through the front door rather than knock as a normal person would have done. He easily located his one time rival, Vegita, working out in the gravity room as was his usual. Trunks was inside and that was the direction he took.

Trunks looked up when Goku and Goten entered into the livingroom unannounced. This was nothing new to him since Goku always acted as if he lived there.

" What brings the two of you by," he asked a little sour since Goten had not bothered to come by in the last few years. At one time they had been really close friends. Goten colored a little as if he could read his thoughts.

" Just thought that I would drop by and check up on you guys. Trunks, you have really sprouted. You are almost as tall as I am now."

Trunks hated it when people told him that. After all, he was in the middle of his growing years. Why state the very obvious? He and Goten shared a secret look behind Goku's back.

" Where's Bulma and Bura?" he asked very casually.

" Mom's due back any day from her business trip. She took Bura with her to avoid any impending disasters that might strike while she is away."

" Disasters? Did I miss something?"

" Have a seat," Trunks indicated the couch opposite of him, " Would you like something to eat or drink?"

Magical words when it came to the Son family. Both nodded and Trunks directed one of the household robots to bring them some food. When they had all settle he leaned back in his seat as if to impart a national secret. Something that was so savory that he could not resist the telling even if it meant certain doom.

" This does not go beyond this room or I am dead meat in every sense of the word."

" I can keep a secret," Goku stated and Goten nodded.

" Dad forgot that Bura is not as independent as Tean is. Those two are so opposite the other. Do you know the kinds of trouble a little kid of six or seven can get into?"

Goku felt a chuckle coming on as he leaned forward for this juicy tidbit on his Prince.

" The first time mom went away and left Dad to watch after Bura was two years ago. She was six and always asking a thousand questions a minute. Dad somehow forgot that mom was no longer in the house and went off to his gravity room as usual. Tean was in the lab working on some invention mom had left behind for her to work on. I was with a...friend at the time.

" So, there was just the two of them in the house. Bura had grown bored so she went into our parent's room and found some money that was lying around. She swiped it and flew into the city where she went on a shopping spree that would make any other kid envious.

" She went around to all the candy shops buying whatever she wanted. She returned home before dad could miss her. What was really strange was that she didn't want to eat dinner that evening. We were all waken up in the middle of the night with her groans.

" None of us could figure out what was wrong with her. It must have been something pretty major to incapacitate someone with Sayian blood. Dad thought she was dying of something very horrible and sounded very convincing about it.

" We all ended up in the emergency room at two in the morning with what appeared to be a very sick kid. Turns out she had eaten a ton of candy and other sweets that day. After that she couldn't look at anything sweet without turning green.

" Poor grandma, she had to keep all her pastries hidden away or Bura would start wailing. Mom gave dad the lecture on being a responsible adult not the second child of the house."

Both Sons were almost rolling off the couch at the conclusion of that story. They could just picture a helpless Vegita carrying a screaming Bura into the emergency room at two in the morning. He would be demanding that his daughter be seen to NOW. There was not a human alive stupid enough to ignore him (if there was they were now a crispy critter six foot under).

Trunks waited until he appreciative audience had quieted down before continuing on with the second tale.

" The second time mom went on a business trip she actually believed that dad had learned his lesson. He did okay watching after her for the first three days because we were there to take up the slack. Tean and I went off on a training mission, at her insistence She was really tired of playing babysitter for dad. Bura really can be a handful even for someone who knows all the tricks in the book.

" While dad was occupied doing something else, Bura snuck into their room and began to go through mom's clothes. She was going to play 'dress-up' and settled on a very nice dress of mom's. Problem is, the gown she chose just happened to cost around $20,000."

" Ouch," Goku said with some appreciation although he had some trouble imagining anything made of cloth costing that much.

" Bura decided to visit the park dressed in her new gown. She met up with some bullies who laughed at her outfit and tried to push her around. She tromped them really good managing to rip the hem out of her new outfit in the process. She left that bunch crying for their mommies and went off exploring around the park.

" Somehow, she managed to get a hold of some spray paint. She had decided that the statues around the park were rather dull and need to be a little more colorful."

" Didn't anyone try to stop her?"

" Most people can not see child doing super-speed which Bura was doing," Trunks reminded Goten whose eyes widened. Bura was not capable of doing SSJ but she could still move at speeds most humans could not see.

" To top the whole day off, she put food coloring in each of the water fountains. From what I hear the park authorities almost had heart failure when they saw her handy work. We, of course, got to foot the clean-up bill. The atmosphere around here was volcanic when my mom came home right in the middle of all this.

" Tean and I came home the next day when all this was going on. Tean took one step in here then left immediately. She camped out at Dende's until the air around here clean out. Dende swore he was going to adopt her or something. I wish that I had been smart enough to camp over at the Look-out. I had to help dad clean up the park along with Bura.

" This time," he said the word with emphasis, " mom took Bura with her and dad heartily approved. Mom was scared that there might not be a home to come to this time."

" Speaking of Tean, where is she?"

Trunks shrugged, " She hasn't been home in three days and dad is royally ticked. She told me as she was packing her bag that she was going to spend some time at the Look-out. I looked in her quarters only her backpack was still there. "

" She can be a hard person to pen down since she can conceal her ki from all of us," Goku gently reminded him.

" I've been everywhere looking for her in all her usual haunts. Nothing. I even went over to your place yesterday and spoke with Chichi. Gohan wasn't at home -- "

Suddenly, all three of them could feel her ki flair up. Her signature was unmistakable since it was so potent calling attention to itself.

" That's coming from mom's old worklab," Trunks said jumping to his feet, " I should have checked there earlier since she use to go there all the time when she was upset about something."

Vegita appeared in the room still wearing his training outfit. There was a towel around his neck but it was the deep scowl on his face that made his son act. Whenever he wore that dangerous look it meant trouble for anyone it was directed at.

" I'll go get Tean," he announced running from the room before his father could utter a word. His future granddaughter was really in for it this time. :She may get more than a tongue lashing this time. Dad is really angry with her for not reporting in before now.: He pounded across the compound until he came to the small building where his mother use to work on projects. Then a new facility had been built closer to the main building and this one had been left one.

The entrance door was bolted so he hammered with his fist, " Teancha," he called out, " Dad's on the warpath in a very major way."

He could hear her mumble something before unlocking the door. She tried to come out into the yard rather than let him in. He moved before she could close the door behind her. The door flew out of her hands to slam against the wall revealing another person within the shadows.

" Okay, Tean," he crossed his arms leveling a look at her waiting for an explanation, " Where have you been for the last three days? Don't even try a by line about being up at the Look-out. I was there twice and even spoke with Dende."

" You would not believe me if I was holding a Truth Stone in my hand."

He shook his head trying to get his bangs out of his eyes so he could stare her directly in the eye. " Try me."

She shrugged as if it were a forgone conclusion, " I just spent the last three days on planet Vegeta."

He slapped his forehead, " Bura could come up with a better, inventive lie than that. Vegeta was destroyed by Frieza over forty years ago when dad was just a kid. How could you possible even have gotten there? You would need a spaceship."

" What!" came the sound of disbelief from the stranger.

" Tean, whose this person you have been spending time with? He's not some kind of flake is he? Dad doesn't like it when you spend time with strangers."

She gave him a very arched look, " His name is Bardock and he really is from planet Vegeta. He even has a tail to prove it."

" What?" he looked over in the shadows trying to distinguish features, " Dad and Goku are the only two full blooded Sayian alive. This is not funny, Tean. And if he is another Sayian, you know how dangerous they can be."

" I can handle anything this one throws at me. He's not as strong as any of us and papa or Goku could always keep him in line."

" Are you absolutely sure that he is a Sayian and not some strange alien trying to pass himself off as one?"

" No, he is the genuine thing. Tail included, of course."

" A tail doesn't make a person a Sayian. We're Sayian and we don't have tails," he reminded her.

" That's because they were removed when we were just babies. Family tradition," she said in aside to the figure behind her who seemed to be outraged at the very idea of losing his tail.

" Then you are severely handicapped," came the snort.

" We don't need a tail since we are actually more powerful without one," Trunks' blue eyes began to narrow already taking a dislike towards this stranger.

" What makes you so sure that this...individual is who he says he is?" She recognized that he was working himself into a temperament.

" Because of who he strongly resembles. Come out of the shadows so that he can really see you."

What stepped from the shadows took his breath away. " Goku?"

To address one question asked, Teancha is 12 and can reach SSJ3 but at a very high price...it saps her life energy from her. She could very well die if she used this level which is why she is forbidden to use this level. I will address this issue in a later chapter.
