Unwanted Betrothal
Chapter 1: The Queen of Darkness
Shobu, Kokujo, Rekuta, Jamira, and the four Princes walked throughout the Darkness lands looking for its ruler. Shobu wasted no time in dueling and defeating the guardian of the portal to the Dark realm he now walked through and had already obtained the right cards to enter the world engulfed in darkness.
“So, exactly where is the ruler of this realm? I can't wait to take him down!” Shobu exclaimed as they walked on.
The princes look from one another smirking. “Don't worry, you'll find out soon enough...” Prince Melvin answered, smiling maliciously.
Kokujo cocked an eyebrow, not really trusting these Princes, though, he doesn't trust anyone...They walked on until they came to a large, frightening castle. Little Rekuta hid behind Shobu out of fear as he stared up into the dark door.
“A-are you sure w-we got the r-r-right p-place?” he asked in a frightened voice.
“Of course, we come and visit this ruler many times”; Prince Irving reassured smiling as maliciously as Prince Melvin, making Kokujo even more suspicious of them.
They walked in (the Princes thinking they could just do as they please in this home...morons...) not knowing that deeper in the castle, the ruler slept soundly.
(Scene skips to a bedroom)
A fifteen year old, pale girl could just barely be seen under the deep purple covers of her large, round bed as she slept. Her slightly open mouth revealed pearly white fangs, just hidden by her black lips. Her ebony hair was matted from sleep, but still showed its shine, even in the sparse light of her room. Creatures, such as a bat, a snake, and a raven lined on of her black walls while the others were adorned with posters and books of the Civilization she thrived in. She wore black pajamas with the word `Seether' written across her chest in big white letters. Her breathing remained slow and steady until a man in a black cloak, holding a scythe, burst through her door waking her instantly.
“Hey Yin-Yang” he exclaimed as she sat up abruptly.
“Dad it's called knocking. Ever heard of it?!” she exclaimed in a dark and sinister voice.
“You have guests.”
The girl, Yin-Yang, looked over at her clock and then back at her father.
“It is one o'clock in the morning. I am not going out there at this time!!”
She threw herself back and closed her eyes again, burying her face in her pillow.
“The P.L.O.O.P members are here.”
“I don't care.”
“I'll get you that Seether CD.”
“Not even for the Seether CD!!!”
“Prince Irving will come in here and wake you up if you don't get your pale, little butt out there!”
“I'm coming!” she said pointing a finger up in the air.
The man turned and walked out as she sat up and stood walking over to her closet and taking away the black robe off of her wall and putting it on. The real reason she loved it so much was that it had a Deathliger riding up the back of it. She walked out of her room, not bothering to brush her hair out...all she really had to do was run her fingers through her hair and it'd look fine, so she did that to get the whole ordeal over with. She walked into her throne room where Shobu and his friends were waiting. She found Irving in her throne and crossed her arms.
“Now Shobu; I order these creatures to take you to the dungeon and lock you up for an eternity!” he exclaimed to the little skunk-haired boy.
“But I have to get to the Sacred Lands to find my dad!!” the little boy yelled back.
Irving began massaging his temples with two of his fingers and closed his eyes.
“The nerve of them peasants...how can they talk back like that?” Yin-Yang said leaning on her throne.
“Tell me about it...” Irving uttered before yelling and jumping up.
“Yin-Yang!!”
“Hi there.”
“What are you doing here?” he asked nervously.
“I live here dumbass”, she replied glaring at him. “You were doing it again.”
“Doing? Doing what?”
“Doing my job. I'm the ruler of this realm, not you”
“Not yet.”
“Don't go there”, she finished glaring even more.
“What does he mean when he says, `not yet'?” Shobu asked, bringing attention to himself.
“Yin-Yang is my fiancée”, Irving said triumphantly.
“Not by choice. He's my betrothed”, she replied.
“What's a betrothed?” Shobu asked.
“It's someone I am forced to marry, against my will, no matter who it is”, Yin-Yang said calmly.
“Oh”, was all the stupid little idget had to say to that. “Well, listen, my friends and I are trying to find the ruler of this realm...so if you could just direct us to him we can be on our way...so do u know the ruler?” he asked.
She stared at him with her red eyes. “Since you're obviously deaf to what I just said to Irving, you're looking at her”, she said calmly.
“What? You can't be the ruler of Darkness! You're just a girl!” he yelled in surprise.
She glared daggers at him, about ready to walk up and chop his head off at this, when they heard the man in the black cloak come up to her, saying, “Yin-Yang, have you finished with the meeting?”
She looked over at him and then back to her intruders. “No father, I'm afraid this, `skunk-haired human', is too ignorant to leave me be...” she said just as calmly as before.
“This is your dad? You mean you don't have your own place yet?” Ko asked.
She looked over at him. “Hell no! I'm only 15. I'm not gonna be aloud to live on my own for about....fifteen more years” she replied calmly. She turned to her father. “Father, may I borrow your sickle?”
He looked up at her through his hood. “What do you plan on using my scythe for Yin-Yang?” He exclaimed.
“No offence sir, but, why do you own a scythe?” Shobu asked. The girl's father looked over at him as if he was the single dumbest human-being on Earth... (A/N : (sarcasm) wonder why!) “Kid, you're lookin' at the Grim Reaper...I need that scythe for my god-forsaken job!” he practically yelled.
Shobu looked over at Yin-Yang, obviously surprised.
“Your dad is the Grim Reaper! Bringer of Death?!?!” he exclaimed staring at her.
“Yes...what of it!” she asked, still in her calm voice.
“Well, I'm just curious as to how him & your mom-” he began, but was cut off by her dad.
“You don't need to know that!”
She looked up smiling.
“Father, it's alright...they can know what I am...” she said her wicked smile widening.
Her dad sighed.
“Her mother was a vampire, in other words, the only creature that wouldn't die from my touch. Anyway, Yin- Yang thus became a half vampire” he explained, leaning on her throne.
Their eyes widened as she bared her fangs. “Now I want you to either tell me why you need to enter the Sacred Lands and why you came to me, or you can leave. It's your choice” she explained.
“I need to duel you. I've dueled the others...and you're left”, Shobu replied.
“No....I can't not now. Leave.”
“Now hold on a second Yin-Yang”, her dad said. “Now, you know I'm trying to turn over a new leaf and be more hospitable from now on right?” he asked.
“Yeah...I know...still curious as to why though...” she asked obliviously.
“Well... I'm getting on in years, and well, when your married... it's gonna be time to pass the scythe on to you, so I wanna be a little kinder to our visitors once I've retired” he finished.
“Well, what about it then?” Yin-Yang spat back angrily, irritated by her own father.
“Well, it's late and I thought we could let them spend the night-” he said motioning to them.
“WHAT? YOU THINK I WOULD DELIBERATLY OPEN MY HOME TO THESE `PEOPLE' & LET THEM SLEEP IN HERE! I THINK NOT!!!” she exclaimed standing up.
“Come on Yin-Yang it won't be that bad. It's only one night...” he responded calmly.
She relaxed & finally gave in.
“Fine...but the Princes must leave”; she finished crossing her arms over her chest.
“Well actually they're all staying here and there fore you're all going to have to share a room with someone” he continued to their `guests'.
She clenched her fists and her hands glowed a deep purple, but she calmed down again and said, “Fine...I'm going my room to sleep, do not disturb me...” she said angrily, wanting to be away from them all.
“Now wait a second Yin-Yang, I thought we could at least get to know our guests before we do anything else”, her dad said, stopping her.
She clenched her fists again in anger but relaxed herself once more. “Fine...” she uttered through clenched teeth.
“Ok, well we know the Princes and my daughter's obviously sick of listening to you”, he began pointing to Shobu.
“Jamira, where have you been this whole time?” she asked bringing their attention to the red-headed boy.
“Oh don't worry about that I'm back aren't I?” he began but was cut off by his mistress.
“I would remember your place if I were you, you little red-haired water leprechaun of a cheater. If you ever leave again, I shall send you into that nightmare world from which you will not awaken!” Yin-Yang said sternly.
“Yin-Yang calm down, what about the rest of you; we'll start off with the small one...so what's your name, oh and don't be intimidated by Yin-Yang” he said, obviously referring for Rekuta to introduce himself.
Poor little Rekuta looked as if he were about to faint, but said in his very squeaky voice, “ I-I-I'm R-r-rek-k-kuta...I-I I'm Shobu's b-b-best friend...s-s-so I-I I'm trying t-t-to h-help him through th-th-these l-lands...” he said shivering.
“Alright, well like I said, you don't have to worry about getting hurt here unless Yin-Yang gets into one of her little moods, but that rarely happens...” her dad said in a somewhat kind voice. "What about you?" he asked motioning Kokujo, who looked as if he just wanted to get out of there A.S.A.P.
"My name is Kokujo, I use darkness cards, and I don't intend on staying here. Can't she just duel Shobu in a Kaijudo and kill him so I can go home?" he said folding his arms over his chest.
“Is that the only reason you came?” Yin-Yang asked cocking an eyebrow at this and staring at him, then directing her gaze back to her father. “Father, have you seen Mort?”
The Reaper looked up at her and said, “Oh, you mean that annoying little excuse for a cat that you call a pet? Isn't he in your room?”
“No...you haven't seen him either?” she replied. Almost on cue a little cub came running in and jumping into her arms. “There you are...” she said smiling and holding it close.
“What is that?” Shobu asked, pointing at the little creature in her arms. She didn't even look up at him when she replied calmly, “It's a Death Liger.”
They all felt their eyes grow wide as they stared at the little cub in her arms.
“Aren't Death Ligers supposed to be, oh I don't know, bigger?” Kokujo asked still wide eyed.
“Not in this realm...in my realm my creatures are actually living and are born into this word. They aren't created” she replied looking up at him.
“Ok well, let's get you all to the rooms you shall be sleeping in tonight shall we?” her father said. He smirked turning, hoping his idea, to get his daughter to be a little more sociable, would work and lead the boys down the hall, leaving Yin-Yang with the cub watching them, smiling slightly.
