Ayumu looked down when he kissed her forehead. She changed into her half form and hugged her tail. It was slightly grey like her families.
When he began to weep her eyes grew wide, and she did what wolves usually did. She nuzzled his neck gently, glancing at the other wolf, sitting with his tail on his paws.
Kitsui looked at Ayumu as she licked his neck then he dried his eyes and remained beside her. "I'm so sorry Ayumu....I don't know what I want..." He said as he sat down with his knees folded and he wrapped his arms around them looking at Ayumu sadly. "I'm so stupid...." He said as he pulled tightly on his pants and sobbed again closing his eyes.
Kitsui then laid back and looked at Ayumu as he rested his hand on his stomach. "Ayumu...How's your sight?" He asked her as he looked into her eyes from where he laid sighing hesitantly.
He tried to smile but his sadness made it hard for him and he just watched Ayumu waiting for what she'd say to him.
Ayumu looked at him. “I can see a little. But what I see is a very strong Kitsui...” She said lowly. She looked at him.
She sighed and let a whimper escape. "If it would be easier.....I can leave." She said lowly.
Kitsui took hold of Ayumu's hands and gazed into her eyes once more then said sadly. "I'm sorry I couldn't be the mate you could have...You deserve better than this..." He said as he let her hands go and looked away from her. He sighed and stood up not wanting to let Ayumu go but he felt it just couldn't be.
"Ayumu, a part of me will always be with you, you should be free...I have done all I could do...I'm just sorry I couldn't be what you expected of me." Kitsui said as he hung his head low and then began to walk off.
"Goodbye Ayumu...And sorry..." He said as he waved his hand in the air not looking back towards her then vanished from her sight completely.
Ayumu allowed a audible whimper escape from her maw. She looked for the wolf and he was gone. She was alone, sitting in a clearing that was covered in blood. She sighed.
A sound approached her as she changed, and a arrow was shot into her shoulder. She stumbled and ran off.
Jai followed Kitsui out of the clearing, she was frowning a little, despite the fact that her heart was still beating out of control and her head was spinning form the kiss. "That wasn't right..." She said softly, "Just because I'm a kitsune doesn't' mean that you should of chosen me." She sighed.
Jai sat down against the trunk of a tree and allowed her ears and tail to vanish, "Kitsui...." She looked at him, "Don't say anything and don't you DARE follow." Her eyes seemed to harden then. "I'm going. I'm going back to defeat him, but I will do my best to come back and I DON'T want you to follow me." An image of the dark Kitsui flashed into her mind. She blinked it away. "Jya...." She kissed him softly and was gone is a swirl of red and white smoke.

Ayumu placed the amulet around her that Kitsui had given her. She ripped the arrow from her human shoulder and yelled.
She had enough. She just walked into town, and abandoned her wolf form in the woods, where the spirit could be seen. She acted as human as she could, even buying a dog.
Kitsui sighed as he watched Jai disappear and once again he was alone and by himself. "In the end it didn't matter...I would end up alone like always." He said with a sad sigh then walked on. "Now...Back to my own mission...Father I will kill you. Kitsui used his magic to make himself a cloak and a white mask to hide his face then vanished.
For a year Kitsui remained alone and he walked the desert after finding a message that his father was somewhere deep in the desert he was traveling in. With a cloak and a mask he had grown more desperate to avenge his mother and his anger and suffering had grew deeper.
He had grown a few inches taller and some of his features had changed but still he was who he was. Kitsui began to grow tired and dying of thirst and he collapsed into the sand as the sandstorm had come in. He looked ahead as his mask fell off and he had begun hallucinating of things from the past year.
Ayumu had lived as a full human for a year, and she had almost completely forgot her wolf side. Until one day, she was over powered by thirst.
Running to her pond she drank, and it still had not quenched the now ripping sensation. Her eyes blanked out red, and she store and the pond, but she saw nothing.
Her mind traveled to the time she was blind, the time her first friend....and maybe her first love had saved her. She sighed, realizing she had to deal with the new hindrance, until a white wolf appeared before her. She walked to it, and automatically, she was the Ayumu she had been the pervious year. She howled into the night.
Jai had managed to confront her brother, but both ended up surviving the fight. Although, Jai spread a rumor that she was dead. She hid behind her mirror and fox mask. As she wandered through a desert she saw a familiar figure. Curiosity overruled her other judgments that said to leave and save him from danger. She walked closer and saw Kitui passed out. She gave him some of her water and pulled him out of the sun. She sat next to them and began to sing quietly, (below is the Japanese and English version of the song):
I sprinkle dirt onto your corpse Even if it is forbidden In the pleasure of that innocent gaze There was an undeniable temptation
Doushite tsumi ga aruno darou Doushite batsu ga aruno darou
Why are there crimes? Why is there punishment?
Honeno saki wa amarinimo shiroku Mugen ni tsuzuku yamiwo sasotta Nanimo kamoga yazayakani miete Suguni kiete shimau
The end of the bone was very white And brought the infinitely continuing darkness Everything seemed clearer Yet it soon disappears
Anatano omoideni kagiwo kakeru Sorega sokona warete itatoshidemo Kuruoshii aizhouno oku sokoniwa Osaekirenai shoudouga atta
I lock up the memories of you Even if the lock is broken Underneath the crazed affection There was an uncontrollable urge
Kakerawo hiroi atsumenagara Yume no owariwo matteita
I picked up the pieces While waiting for the dream to end
Tsumiga arunowa akiramete iru kara Batsuga arunowa motome sugiru kara Nanimo kamoga okizarini sarete Mawaru mawari tsuzukeru
It's a crime because I gave up I recieve punishment because I was too attached Abandoning everything everywhere It spins and spins again
Asaga kureba waraeru darouka Ano hino youni waraeru darouka Nakushita monowa nanihitotsu naito
When the morning comes will I be able to smile? Can I smile like I did that day? Let me have lost nothing at all I wish, and wish again
(features the ending theme of Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kai)
Kitsui slowly began to regain consciousness as he was given water and heard singing near him. His eyes were still deceiving him at the time and as he looked at Jai it was the illusion of his deceased mother he saw. "Mother...Is that you..." He said weakly not realizing it was Jai and not his mother.
Soon his eyes returned to normal and he began to blush as he realized it was Jai standing there beside him. "Wait...Jai...Is that you...?" He said as he recognized her scent then sat up and touched her face taking a good look at her.
"How did it go...Did you manage to defeat him...?" Kitsui asked her as he scooted up and sat besides her wrapping his tail gently around her.
Jai shook her head and pulled away, "I still have things to do." She still felt terrible about what happened between the three of them. She couldn't shake it from her. She began to back away.
