Blooming Roses
Chapter 2
Dee watched the two talking to one another while his munched on the remaining bit of his breakfast. He knew who they reminded him of, it was himself and Ryo. Ah, those had been the times he loved the most when the love was fresh and new, and they still weren't use to the feeling of being complete yet. He carefully stood, taking Lai and Bikky's plates. "So, I was thinking, I can get the extra keys made at some shop while at work. I think it'd be a good idea to have two so that if anything comes up between the two of you one can always go to my apartment until things settle." Dee explained.Chapter 2
Bikky and Lai looked at each other before Bikky spoke for the two. "Well... That is a good idea even for more than just the times we split for a few days or something," Bikky replied. "Dee, thanks."
He ment it sincerely and Dee could tell that was the case, he wasn't like Ryo, but he was still very concerned about Bikky's well being. "Just, when you two are ready for taking that big step, be careful about how you're doing it, promise?" Dee asked.
"Promise." Both nodded.
"Good," Dee replied. "I went out and bought some sandwich stuff at that deli down the street you can stay here and have lunch, or go to the park on a picnic. I have to get going before I'm late and the Captin chews me out."
"Bye, Dee." Lai waved.
"Yeah, see you later old man!" Bikky stated.
With that, the two were left alone. "So, what are we going to do?" Lai asked.
"Go to the park of course! I got these new rollerblades for my birthday, and I've been dying to try them out!" Bikky replied, racing to his room.
"I'll go get the food packed." Lai replied.
.....
As the two went to the park, Bikky with his new rollerblades and Lai with Bikky's old rollerblades. They came to a nice spot and quickly spread the blanket out on the green grass. Then, setting their basket down, the two began to pull out everything that they had brought. "Egg salad, yes!" Bikky replied, grabbing the container and some bread out of the basket. He then proceeded to apply the salad upon the bread. While Lai made a ham sandwich. "So, should we consider this our first offical date?" Bikky asked.
"Yes." Lai replied, brushing Bikky's lips in a momentary kiss.
Bikky swallowed the remaining amount of his sandwich. "You could at least wait until I've finished eating!" Bikky said, laughing.
"I wouldn't wait, even for the Gods in heaven for you." Lai replied.
"Hearing you say that sent shivers up my spine." Bikky replied.
"It means you liked it, or so that's what my mother tells me." Lai said.
"Well, how can't I when I like all of you?" Bikky asked, kissing him back.
After which he sprang to his feet, and began to pack everything. Then, they spent the rest of the time they were at the park to zip around, sometimes hand in hand as they rollerbladed together. It was late afternoon by the time they got back. Ryo still wasn't there either. Lai looked at Bikky before actually saying it. "How about I take you out for dinner next week?" Lai asked.
"That sounds wonderful, Lai!" Bikky replied, giving him a long and passion filled kiss.
"Should we meet at Dee's say.... Around six next Saturday?" Lai asked.
"Sure." Bikky replied.
.....
The next morning Bikky woke to Ryo's usual call for breakfast. As Bikky came in the kitchen, he noted Ryo's worried look on his adoptive father's face."I heard that Carol broke up with you, are you all right?" Ryo asked.
"Who told you?" Bikky asked.
"Dee, but, he said that you'd be fine because you would find someone else." Ryo replied.
"Yeah, I'm seeing someone new." Bikky replied, releaved that Dee hadn't blurted about the whole thing.
Ryou fidgited with the ring of whom's partner was upon Dee's same finger. "Well, I was worried the way Dee said it made me think you moped about it for the whole time I was gone." Ryo replied.
"What's wrong?" Bikky asked. "You only fidgit with that when you're worried about Dee."
"Well, he's been assigned to an undercover drug bust and I would have been a huge sore thumb sticking out there, so he's on it solo," Ryo explained. "Of course, I was only gone to retreive the papers needed to wrap up the case on the last two drug rings we caught."
"Don't worry about him, Dee can take care of himself." Bikky patted his back.
As he left Lai popped out from around the corner. "I thought I should walk with you before heading to my school." Lai replied to Bikky's shocked look.
"Oh, well sure." Bikky said, still slightly surprised.
"What's up with your Dad? He looked pretty upset." Lai asked.
"Oh, Dee was sent out on a big undercover drug bust, so he's a little worried is all." Bikky replied.
"Well, I think he'll be all right." Lai replied.
Once Bikky arrived at school he ran into none other than Carol who was looking more sorrowful than before. She however, made a turn back into her bad mood as he came closer. Soon, it was time for first period and Bikky walked in and felt like he was still floating on cloud nine. "Good morning class, please take your seats as I call role." The teacher said as the students settled.
.....
After school, Bikky ran for Dee's place and surprised to find the door unlocked and music playing inside. "Dee? Are you home, Dee?" Bikky asked.A head of black hair and a green bandana was just noticable behind the couch from where he was. "Yeah, I'm home, trying to clean the stains off this wall, as usual." Dee grumbled.
"The same ones that have always been there?" Bikky asked.
"Yup, same as always." Dee replied.
"I have a question to ask you, Dee." Bikky got to the point.
"Shoot." Dee's response came.
"What would you wear to a nice dinner with Ryo?" Bikky asked.
"First time, or repeated?" Dee asked.
"First," Bikky said. "I suspect a picnic in a park isn't considered a first, is it?"
"Nah, well, the first time is special and it's obvious it's him taking you out, am I right?" Dee looked up at Bikky who was hanging his head over the back of the couch.
"Yeah, so, what do I wear?" Bikky pressed.
"A tux what else? Here, let me size this up for you...." Dee got off the floor.
"I would say plain dress shirt, white, black coat, no tails, matching pants, dress shoes.... Definately a tie, red, no cumberbun, and add some red napkin, or flower and a red or black ribbon around your ponytail," Dee quickly listed. "I can help you get it all tomorrow sometime, I'm done with the undercover, Captin gave me the day off tomorrow."
"Really? How're we going to get Ryo to not become suspicious of us?" Bikky asked.
"Well, let me see here.... We'll just say that I was cleaning out your closet while he was gone those couple of days getting the papers on that one case and noted you had nothing dressy. Of course every man's got to have a tux." Dee decided.
"It'll work, I think." Bikky replied.
"It will, trust me, Ryo wouldn't want his only kid to not get a date because he didn't dress right for the occasion." Dee held up his hands.
"All right, we'll go ahead and do that, then." Bikky grumbled.
It was later that night, at dinner the issue was brought up. "He didn't even have a true dress shirt, it made him look horrid, you know." Ryo explained about the dinner that one of the other stations had taken him to the night that he got there.
"Talking about under dressed, Ryou, did you realize Bikky doesn't have a tux?" Dee asked.
"What do you mean he doesn't have a tux?" Ryo asked.
"The one he did have last year he's already out grown and it was riddled with moth holes." Dee switched gears.
"Oh, well, take him to go get one." Ryo responded.
"I was about ready to ask if it was okay for me to do that tomorrow after he got out of school?" Dee said.
"Fine, go and do it after school then." Ryo replied, simply.
So, the next day they did, and settled on a black suit with red tie and white dress shirt. Bikky couldn't help but think, perfect at the reflection in the mirror at the shop while trying it on. Dee couldn't help but complement the way that Bikky looked great in it. "If I were Lai I don't know how I'd keep my hands off you the way you're looking in that." Dee replied as they walked out of the shop. Bikky's tux slung over one shoulder.
Bikky sighed, he couldn't wait until Saturday.
