Three shots rang out from a semi-automatic somewhere in the distance. Dee made himself as small as possible, crouching behind several barrels that acted as his shield. When no further rounds were fired, Dee leaned to the edge of his hiding place, trying to discern where his opponent could be. He saw no immediate movement, and retreated back to his small bunker.
'Where the hell are the guys?' With that thought, several more shots were fired, and Dee's radio crackled to life.
"Shit, guys! I'm hit!" he heard Ted exclaim. Dee closed his eyes. "It's no use guys," Ted continued, "they're too good. We're all done for. I'll see you guys on the other side." The radio went dead.
'Fuck,' Dee thought. 'Can't believe they got Ted!' He concern turned to Ryo. 'Where the hell can he be? He should have checked in by now!'
Dee's radio crackled back to life. "Dee, where are you? Over." Ryo. 'Thank God.'
Dee opened his eyes, surveilling the area. A flash of light, honey brown hair caught his eye, and he depressed the button on the side of the radio. "About twenty five feet to your right, and forward about five. Over," he said into the communication device, eye on where he's just seen his lover.
Ryo's face appeared at the edge of his own barricade, and he flashed Dee a small smile, before he let his face turn serious.
"They got Ted," Ryo said over the radio, eyes still locked on Dee's across the distance. Dee nodded. "Drake, too. He was covering me. I saw him go down. Over."
"Shit, so it's just us? Over."
"Us and them, Dee. Over." Ryo tilted his chin towards the direction the shots had come from.
"Damn." Dee leaned back against the barrels for a moment to think.
"You ok, Dee? Over."
"Yeah, just thinking," he replied. "You? Over."
"Kinda tired, but I can keep going. Over."
"You sure, Ryo? I can take over for you if you want. Over." Dee saw Ryo shake his head.
"Nah. Hey, Dee, I'm heading towards you. Cover me. Over." Green eyes watched as Ryo moved into position to run, staying low to the ground.
"I don't know, Ryo. They're damn good shots. Maybe you should sit tight for a couple minutes. Over."
"No way, Dee. I'm coming now. You ready? Over."
Dee sighed and took up his position. "Ready. Over."
"Now!" Ryo moved like a cat, low to the ground and swift. He was mere inches from his new cover point when Dee spotted one of the men. His eyes widened, and he squeezed the trigger.
Two shots rang out as one, and Dee heard Ryo yelp, turning just in time to watch him stumble, holding his stomach, and fall.
His pulse sped up, and he lunged forward, disregarding the remaining men that were still after him.
Dee felt the sting in his shoulder, side, and calf, as another series of rounds were fired.
A whistle sounded across the field, and several guys a little older than Bikky stepped out from behind their own barricades, giving each other high fives. They started across the field, two orange-jersey'd referees trailing behind them.
"Shit!" Dee cried. "Man, that fuckin' hurt," he mumbled, crouching beside Ryo.
"Tell me about it," Ryo replied.
"You ok, baby?"
"Yeah," Ryo said, rubbing the sore spot on his stomach. "Just stings a little."
Dee stood again, offering Ryo his hand. Accepting the pro-offered appendage, Ryo stood as well.
Together, they joined the opposing team and headed back to the safe zone.
Ryo stumbled a few times over roots and rocks in the tick woods, and Dee eventually just put his arm around the other man's waist, and walked with him side by side.
Once they reached the netted off area, all the players and referees entered and removed their masks.
Dee leaned in and kissed Ryo's temple, and a blush tinted the lighter haired man's cheeks. "Sorry you got hurt, baby," he whispered.
"'S ok, love." He grinned. "I'll pay you back later."
Ted and Drake approached the couple, thumping them each on the back as they separated.
"You guys up for another round?" Drake asked.
Dee looked to Ryo. "Ah, I'm beat you guys. But go ahead if you wanna play another game without me."
Dee shook his head. "Nah, I'm with Ryo on this one. I think we're gonna head back home."
Drake shrugged, and turned to Ted. "How 'bout you, buddy?"
Ted grinned. "I'm in! Let's redistribute the teams and let the losers head back." He winked at Ryo.
Drake nodded happily, and ran off to tell a ref their decision.
Ted turned to Dee. "You guys amscray. You both look like you could use a shower and a nap," he said, reaching up to pick some plastic shelling and yellow paint from Dee's hair.
Ryo giggled, just then noticing the thin yellow coat over a section of his lover's locks.
Dee turned to glare at Ryo. "Alright, we're out. See you guys on Monday?"
"Yep," Ted replied, turning to find Drake. "Later!"
"Later!" Dee called to the rest of the group, who all called back various good byes.
The two men turned and headed back towards Dee's car.
Once they reached the beat-up auto, Ryo started to his side of the car, unaware that Dee was right behind him. When his hand reached for the handle, Dee grabbed his wrist, spun him around, and pinned him up against the door.
"Dee!" Ryo yelped, surprised.
"Sorry, baby," he replied, a grin spreading across his features. "You just looked so sexy out there..." He trailed off, his eyes glinting.
Ryo blushed, a small smile forming at the compliment. "You're one to talk," he murmured.
"Hm? What was that?"
Ryo met his eyes. "I said 'you're one to talk.' When you were covering me a few minutes ago, all I could think about was how gorgeous you looked." He looked down for a moment. "I was just kind of upset that I couldn't see your face. Damn masks..." He trailed off. Glancing up, he noticed the grin on Dee's face had grown wider. "Don't get cocky on me, koi."
"Who? M-." Dee was cut off as Ryo grabbed onto the front of his camouflage jacket and pulled him in for a kiss. The fingers of Dee's right hand threaded themselves through Ryo's hair, while his left hand settled themselves on the lighter haired man's hip. When Ryo parted his lips to moan quietly, Dee took advantage of it, and plunged his tongue into the moist cavern. He drew Ryo's tongue into a battle with his own, the two dueling for dominance. Ryo's hands twisted in Dee's jacket, using the other man for support as his knees started buckling.
Dee broke away gently, resting his forehead against his partner's.
"I was scared," he said quietly. Ryo's brows furrowed, and he pulled away slightly to look into Dee's eyes. "Sounds stupid, and I know it's just a game, but all I kept picturing was us in an actual shootout, and when I saw you go down..." Ryo touched his face gently.
"I'm right here, Dee. No harm done. Well... Nothing lasting anyway."
"I know. I guess next time I just won't take it so seriously."
Ryo's eyes went wide. "Next time? You're making me come here again?!"
Dee grinned. "If I get to see you looking that sexy in a camo get-up again, yeah."
Ryo shook his head. "Let's go home, lover."
Dee leaned forward to whisper in his ear. "Only if you promise to keep that uniform on for a while...." He trailed his tongue up the side of Ryo's neck, placing a kiss softly behind his ear, then bending his head and biting gently where his shoulder curved into his neck. He ignored the taste of the cotton jacket, but savored the tasted of sweat that had soaked it, knowing he would make the man taste the same in the bedroom later on that night.
Ryo groaned, dipping his forehead to Dee's shoulder. "Get in the car and get up home before I push you down and take you right here in the middle of the parking lot."
"Horny, are we?" Dee grinned.
"Only around you."
With that, The two separated and got into their respective seats, and Dee started the car.
Ryo leaned his head against the headrest, and closed his eyes, images of what he was going to do to his lover and what would be done to him danced through his head.
As he drifted off to sleep for the long ride home, one thought flashed through his mind.
'Maybe paintballing wasn't such a bad idea after all...'

So, what do you guys think? I'm debating about the next chapter. It's definitely gonna be a lemon, but should I continue this in the car or should I wait till they get home?
