"joshua" a voice called to me "joshua" i looked around groggily and saw belldandy, she was standing over me, looking down at me "joshua, urd is dead, you failed to save her. actually, she was dead from the moment she came to earth, just like when you came to japan" i rolled over and passed out again. i could see the surface of water and a voice said "josh, why? why'd you kill her?, she was your sister" "MURDERER!" another voice, unknown said. then a softer voice, one i recognised immediately "No Josh, NOOOOO!!!!" a gunshot and the voice i'd found belonged to one woman, Urd. "well buddy, we've got ways of dealin wid scum like youse" i opened my eyes and noticed i was in a room where the walls were stained with blood, the smell permeating my nostrils, making me wretch over my shirt. i tried to move but felt my hands were tied behind me to a chair. the door opened and two figures walked down the steps and approached me. their faces were hidden but their voices weren't "well now, what do we have here? it seems we have the shadow god himself" they both chuckled an evil laugh. they stepped into the light and i immediately rcognised the people. they were Skuld and Mara.

i shot up and yelled "AHH!". as i looked around, i noticed i wasn't in the room and i wasn't back at the mountainside lookout. the door opened and belldandy came in sombrely "what happened and where's urd?" i looked down and said "mara took her. belldandy?" "yes?" "y'know that doublet system you mentioed a while ago?" "yes" "well, i was looking around in some books a few days ago and i found something interesting. apparently neither demon nor deity can kill each other right? otherwise the doublet system would vaporise their counterpart?" she nodded and i said "well, there's a clause. apparently, only a mortal and whatever the hell i am can kill either one and it won't affect their doublets. don't worry, i'm not gonna kill anyone for the sake of it. like mara, i'm gonna kill them if they harm anyone of my family" i got to my feet and she said "be careful, she's capable of many things" it was then that keiichi called from the hallway "hey josh, you've got a call. it's from urd" i ran out and picked up the phone

"hello?"

"josh-san?"

"yeah, what's up urd? what'd mara do to you "

"nothing, i'm alright. in fact, mara wants to talk to you here"

"well, sure. where?"

"an old videogame arcade, just off pinto street"

"alright, and when do you want me to come?"

"as soon as you can"

"alright"

i hung up the phone, took in a deep breath and headed out to the den adn as i put the pad in my pocket, keiichi asked "trap?" i nodded and said bluntly "trap" "you want we should come with you?" "nah, i'll be alright" skuld just looked at me and said "are you forgetting the part where it's a trap?" "maybe so, it just means that urd's already caught in it. maybe i have a chance at taking mara out" belldandy just looked at me weirdly as she asked "how can you be sure that she just doesn't want to talk to you, she does have feelings too you know" i folded my arms under my chest as i asked "you all were listening in i take it?" they nodded and i asked "did you hear us have a dissusion about the kids or myself?" skuld looked to me and said "no" i smiled and said simply "trap" as i left the room and headed outside and began walking down the road until i approached the town. i grabbed the cigarette inbetween my fingers and flicked it into the curb as i approached the corner where the videogame arcade was "ah fuck it. i'll go in the front way, she doesn't know about my extra abilities. hopefully" i said dryly. knowing my track record, some jackass had probably already informed mara about my new abilities, so i decided to do something a litlle different. i ran into an alleyway and climbed onto the roof of a building as i heard a caw. i looked down and saw him, the guide for the crows who were brought back to right various wrongs <hello joshua> <how are you my old friend?> <i'm fine. now what is it you called me for, if you don't mind my asking?> <well, i need you to be my eyes and ears. mara has my wife and i have to rescue her, i just need to know what i'm dealing with before i go storming in> <i see. alright, all you need to do is to use the farsight and you can see what i see> he said as he flew away into the night.

inside the arcade, mara was standing by a pentagram summoning circle with what appeared to be two urds. one was dressed in the robes of a goddess and was chained to a wall, while one wore an outfit resembling a dominatrix in one of those S&M clubs (blech....ed!) it was then that a demon suddenly appeared "well my friend, you get to have some fun with not just a demoness, but a goddess as well" said one urd as the demon stood with his tentacles extending from his chest. two tentacles grabbed the demonic urds arms, lifing her up while another two wrapped around each of her legs and spread them before three more extened from his body, one extending and entering her mouth while the other two entewred her pussy and her ass. she was coming close to an orgasm as a crow squarked outside "who is that" mara said as she ran to the doors. no one was there outside, so she turned and heard the bathroom door open and she gasped as she saw josh, he was dressed from head to toe in black, black leather jacket, black boots, black leather pants, black shirt and she noticed something else; his face was painted white and he had black streaks going down to his eyes and then continuing on to his cheeks. he also wore black lipstich that was made into a streek that wenty from one cheek across to the other. he looked exactly like eric draven about 3 years ago when he was brought back from the dead as the dark knight, the crow. "hi guys, miss me?" he asked jokingly "KILL HIM!!" shouted mara as the demons present turned and opened fire. he was hit repeatedly, dropping to the floor, and as they reloaded their guns, he floated back to his feet and said in annoyance "for christs sake, don't tell me you don't know how to kill a man" he hit the side of his head and shook it, before he himself shook, saying "alright, who wants to die first? c'mon now don't be shy everyone" he ran up to the first one as he was reloading and turned their gun on them, blowing their brains or what passed as brains on the ceiling. he cricked his kneck as the demon dropped and said "well?, who's next?" four demons leapt at him, but he was quicker. in a flash, all four were split down the center, covering him partially in their blood. he turned to the last few demons and they cowered in fear as he began walking towards mara "what's the matter mara, i thought you wanted your chance to kill me huh?" he asked as he teleported over to the tentacle demon, severing all of his tentacles in one slash. he turned quickly and saw mara trying to run, so he threw his hand out and sealed the doors "hey mara, where you going?" he asked as he began walking out to where she was.
