Pai was hiking up the mountain.
She already had to destroy four youkais and wasn't exactly in the best moods.
When she found out the gem was at the mouth of the river she killed every youkai she came across without a chance of hope.
She thanked kami for her cloak that helped her blend in with the snow and her keen eyes let her see the other camouflaged youkais and avoid them.
She had saw a faint ice blue glow at the top of mountain and two children were following her. The first one had green hair like grass, brown eyes and a rose in her hair like Pai. She smiled happily at her.
The newest one was a boy and had ice-blue hair with clear eyes and kept pointing at the faint ice blue glow.
To be honest, the two were starting to bug her. They giggled and disappeared all the time. At first she thought she had gone crazy until she realized that they must be the spirits of the elements.
She heard a giggle and looked back to see the first one she found following her shaking her head no while the boy giggled.
Pai kept walking when suddenly the ground turned slippery.
She brushed the ground lightly with her tail and found herself in the middle the river.
"Koruso," she sworn quietly.
One wrong move and she was going to be the largest okami cube in the world.
Then she saw a yeti.
"Kami onegai," she prayed.
It saw her and she glanced up at the sky.
`Why me?' she thought.
"What are you doing on my mountain?" it asked angrily.
Its heavy feet stomped hard on the ice.
"I'm looking for a gem," Pai said.
"Not on my mountain!" it shouted then began towards her.
She heard a quiet crack.
"Yamette!" she shouted.
"Naze?" it asked.
"We're on ice," Pai said trying to sound normal but it came out strained and laced with fear.
"Iie we're not! I know this mountain like the back of my paws," it said and stomped hard on the ground.
A loud crack was heard and Pai sprinted towards another side when the yeti slung her over his shoulder and in two leaps made it to the other side.
"Arigato," Pai said.
When she got no response she looked over to see her savior staring at her hungrily.
The ice kept cracking up then finally broke apart. The river began flowing again and Pai was in-between a hungry yeti and a freezing river.
She closed her eyes waiting for her end.
"Iron reaper soul stealer!" was heard and the yeti fell dead.
She opened one eye to see a youkai in front of her, with two humans and a kitsune.
She opened the other and sat on the ground.
"Arigato," Pai said.
"Are you ok?" the female human asked.
"Hai," Pai said.
Another loud crack was heard and the ice Pai sat on broke apart making her fall in the icy water.
"Inuyasha help her!" Sango shouted pushing him into the water.
Inuyasha completely shocked that he fell in sank to the bottom then began searching for the girl.
He saw her up ahead unconscious. Then he saw a faint light blue glowing in the bottom of the river.
He swam up grabbing the girl then swam up to the faint light blue glow.
When he finally realized he wasn't going to last much longer he threw Pai out of the water and by Sango and Miroku and took a big gulp of air before going back down.
Inuyasha swam back and began digging around the glow, as he did the glow became brighter until he pulled out a gem.
As soon as he did a huge explosion was heard followed by a big youkai. It was light blue and big, bigger than the yetis Pai faced.
It shot a spike at Pai.
Sango swung her boomerang at it to have it deflect the attack.
Inuyasha grip the gem and felt his body become numb. He couldn't feel anything when a shock of pain went though him.
He screamed and the river glowed an ice blue.
Inuyasha came from the water with a slight smirk.
He still looked the same except for his new tail. It wasn't like his Oniisan. It was like a lion's tail only white with the end tinted with an icy blue.
Pai sat up and rolled her eyes at him.
He cracked his knuckles then charged up at the youkai.
"Ice shards!" he shouted.
Shards came from each finger piercing through its thick armor and breaking it.
Pai got up and held a fist in the air. "Earthquake punch!"
She punched the youkai and it froze. Where her fist hit the youkai came two green lines, one going up the other down.
The youkai broke apart and fell dead.
Pai stood pleased with herself then fell backwards.
"What happened?" Sango asked as Inuyasha picked her up.
"She used up too much energy in one punch. She's not used to the powers yet so it'll be a while before she can use an attack like that and still be conscious," Myouga said.
"We got the ice gem though," Miroku said.
"Hai, that's good," Sango said.
"It's cold," Shippou said shivering.
"You're a youkai," Inuyasha said. "Suck it up!"
"It would be best if we found somewhere to stay for the night," Myouga said.
Inuyasha growled and looked around. "There's a cave up ahead, we'll rest there," he said.
"He's changed since Kagome," Sango said.
"Hai demo he shows feeling towards Pai," Miroku said.
"How would you know?" Sango asked.
"Their tails," Miroku said.
Sango looked and saw the two youkais tails entwined and the tips dancing around each other joyfully.
