MAGIC KNIGHTS’ ADVENTURES IN THREE KINGDOMS
Crossover between : Magic Knight Rayearth-Dynasty Warriors NJB : As promised, a new MKR character is introduced in this chapter. Unfortunately, there won’t be any actions. But, still… enjoy ! Chapter 4 : The Sea Dragon’s Blossom of Wei Hikaru was moving with Sun Ce when she realized something, ‘I’m not that familiar with the Chinese language… But I wonder why did they understand my words perfectly and I understood theirs ? I bet this is yet another of the powers that Zuo Ci granted me !’ As Hikaru stood next to Sun Ce, who was standing in front of everyone in the center of the circular table for the feast, she was getting a little nervous, but she quickly hid it. Sun Ce took a deep breath and said, “Listen up, guys ! You might be surprised on my decision, but this girl helped me a lot in our previous battle ! And therefore, I will put this girl among the officers of our kingdom !” Afterwards, the crowd was getting noisy, some was impressed, some thought that Sun Ce was drunk. Zhou Yu stepped forward as well and said, “I am a witness to her prowess. If you do not believe me… well, I don’t know what has gotten into your heads.” In instant, the audience believed, as Zhou Yu was a real voice of wisdom and reason to the kingdom. Sun Ce pushed Hikaru’s back friendly as he said, “C’mon ! Introduce yourself !” “Ahem…” Hikaru cleared her throat and said in quite a loud voice, “My name is Shidou Hikaru. You can call me Hikaru. Good to meet you all !!” “YEAH !!!” The crowd cheered and then Sun Ce grinned as he said, “All right, then. Now, let the feast begin !!” And the party was on. Hikaru enjoyed its moments, until she finally decided to know each other better. She came into a group of men drinking, which consisted of Taishi Ci, Lu Meng, Zhou Tai, Ling Tong and Ling Cao. “Ah, care to join us in a drink, Lady Hikaru ?” Ling Tong asked her, but Hikaru was a bit reluctant, as she thought it’s an alcohol. ‘Gimme a break… I’m still underaged !’ she thought, and thus she began to get nervous, “Um…” “Ling Tong, can’t you see her by her age ?” Ling Cao reprimanded his son, “Obviously, she’s not old enough to drink wine ! It’s bad for her health !” “Oops, sorry, father.” Ling Tong hung his head, and the other men laughed. Hikaru also giggled and said, “That’s OK ! There’s nothing wrong…” “Anyway… I’d like to know each of you better. What’s your names ?” Hikaru asked, and Taishi Ci stood up and started, “You probably have seen me, but… well, my name is Taishi Ci.” “Zhou Tai…” Zhou Tai responded next. “I am Lu Meng.” Lu Meng said, followed by Ling Cao, “I’m Ling Cao, and this is my son, Ling Tong.” “Hi.” Ling Tong waved his hand and Hikaru replied with another hand waving and a smile. “Well, I guess I’m off for now !” she said happily as she moved to another place. She then came to a hyper looking girl in white clothes… Xiao Qiao. “Hey ! So you must be that Hikaru, huh ?” Xiao Qiao asked energetically, and began to ‘observe’ her. “Huh ?” Hikaru asked cluelessly, as she didn’t know what Xiao Qiao meant with that. “Wow, you’re even about the same age as me ! Cool !” Xiao Qiao giggled, and Hikaru scratched her head, and said, “Hey, I don’t deserve that kind of compliment ! Anyway, who are you ?” “EH !? Hey, don’t tell me you never heard of the Two Qiaos !” Xiao Qiao started to get annoyed, thinking that Hikaru was a Chinese native. However, Hikaru shook her head and said, “… Nope. I never heard of… wait a minute…” Suddenly, she remembered about an old folklore that her brother told her, about the Two Qiaos. “So… you’re one of them ?” Hikaru asked again, and Xiao Qiao hopped happily and said, “Of course ! I’m one of them ! My name is Xiao Qiao !” “Good to meet you, Xiao !” Hikaru replied with a smile, and she asked again, “Now where’s your… uh… sister, I wonder ?” “She’s over there !” Xiao Qiao pointed to the right, and Hikaru headed there. Eventually, she saw a girl sitting on the feast chair, and there’s another boy with a hat sitting near her. “Um… are you… one of the Two Qiaos ?” Hikaru nervously asked, and the girl turned back and said, “Yes. I am Da Qiao… Oh, you must be Lady Hikaru. Pleased to meet you.” Da Qiao nodded with a smile, and Hikaru returned it. Then, she changed her attention to the boy with hat. “And… who might you be ?” “I’m Lu Xun. An officer of Wu. I’m still in training, though…” The boy said, in a bit of shy tone, but he then continued with a determination, “But I promise I’ll do my best and contribute greatly to our kingdom !” “Um, you were close each other before…” Hikaru asked with curiosity in her tone, “Are you… boyfriend and girlfriend ?” Upon hearing that, Lu Xun and Da Qiao began to blush. But, they tried to cover it up, by saying, “We… We’re not !” However, they said the words in unison, and thus, they blushed even fiercer. Hikaru giggled again and said, “That’s just a joke ! Don’t take it too seriously !” Afterwards, Hikaru left the ‘couple’, and she tried to find more ‘friends’ to make. However, when she reached an open field, she suddenly felt something was not right. She then summoned her sword from her orb and slashed behind. To her surprise, she just deflected a chakram sent to her. Just then, a voice echoed, “Not bad ! Not bad at all !” “That was dangerous, you know !” Hikaru bolted out, and then she saw a figure coming to her… a short haired woman with red outfit… This is none other than the Wu Princess, Sun Shang Xiang. “So, you’re that Hikaru everyone was talking about.” Sun Shang Xiang started, “I’m curious about your strength… Wanna spar tomorrow ?” “I… is that really okay ?” Hikaru asked nervously, and Sun Shang Xiang answered without doubt, “Of course ! Girls shouldn’t let the boys have all the fun fighting you know ! This is our first step ! Next time, we tackle on the battle together and show them the girls power ! How’s that sound ?” “Sounds cool ! But… who are you ?” Hikaru asked, as she didn’t recognize Sun Shang Xiang, which made her realize that she forgot introducing herself, “Oh, damn ! I forgot my manners ! My name is Sun Shang Xiang.” “Sun Shang Xiang…? That means… you’re Sun Ce’s little sister ??” Hikaru asked in excitement, and in short, she was caught in one happy, fun conversation with Sun Shang Xiang. Sun Ce only looked from far away, and he just made a happy grin. Zhou Yu came to him and said, “For once your prediction turns out to be the truth, Sun Ce. Lady Hikaru and your sister do get along well.” “Heh ! That’s what girls are supposed to do at times like this, having fun !” Sun Ce started happily, but stopped afterwards and said in annoyance, “Hey, Zhou Yu. For once my prediction becomes truth, eh ? Was that supposed to be an insult !?” “Yes, Sun Ce. It’s an insult that we refer as ‘Joke’.” Zhou Yu said, and Sun Ce laughed and said, “All right, I give up !” -Meanwhile…- Back in the present day, Japan… A young girl with long sapphire hair and cerulean eyes was still sleeping on her royal bed. She was still sleeping and sleeping, until… “Umi ! You’re not on a holiday today, are you ??” The girl called Umi got up and rubbed her eyes. She mumbled lazily, “I’m still sleepy, mom…” But when she looked at the nearby clocked… it was pointing to the time of 7:30 a.m. Umi’s eyes started to shake in shock, before she let out a scream… “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!” “I’m late ! I’m late !!” Umi said in a hurry as she ran through the road, carrying her bag. She was supposed to have a physics exam, and it looked like she had an excessive, intense study last night, even though she couldn’t grasp most of the subjects. However, she couldn’t grasp the studies was because she was still burdened with the fact that she also participated in Emeraude’s suicide in her quest in Cephiro. Not just that, just like Hikaru, she also received nightmares about China ruling the world with iron fist. In fact, last night she slept at 1:00 am, and the nightmare woke her up at 4:00 am, and she fell asleep again, and this time it caused her to wake up pretty late. ‘What was that dream about, I wonder…?’ Umi thought as she kept running. But, suddenly she heard a ‘BOOM’ sound from behind and a voice of an old man, “There is no need to rush here, young lady…” “Who’s there !?” Umi said and looked behind, looking at someone who suddenly appeared there, even though she was running along, and that someone was none other than Zuo Ci. “What are you hurrying on ?” Zuo Ci slowly asked, but Umi shrugged him off and said, “I’m sorry, mister, but I have a test today, and I’m late ! So I have to go quick !” Umi then began to run away from Zuo Ci, but his voice stopped her once more, “There are another thing more important than education now.” “Sorry, but I have no time for such nonsense !” Umi shrugged him off again and tried to run again, thinking, ‘This guy must’ve been someone who tries to persuade students to skip classes ! Ha ! Like that’ll even work on me !’ “Well, were you having nightmares about my land ruling this world with iron fist ?” Zuo Ci said another word, and Umi was completely frozen again and looked at Zuo Ci, and asked with an annoyed tone, “How did you know about it !?” “It is something that I and my fellow magician foreseen and considered dangerous, Magic Knight of Water, Ryuuzaki Umi…” Zuo Ci said once more, and Umi grew more suspicious on him. “You know me  and my journey to Cephiro !? W… who’re you !?” “You can call me Zuo Ci, my dear.” Zuo Ci said, “That dream will become reality if you do not stop it, as someone tried to mess up with history. And if you want to ask ‘Why me’, that is because… only you and your fellow Magic Knights are capable of such task.” ‘Fight again…!? Oh no… not after those events…! I… I feel like I lost all my will to fight after that !’ Umi thought in sorrow, remembering how she and her friends killed Emeraude. But, Zuo Ci looked as if he could read her mind and said, “Your future is at stake. Or you would rather let you and your descendants be the victims of fate when my land ruled the world with iron fist ?” “I…!” Umi tried to protest, but she realized that Zuo Ci’s words have some truth in it. She then said, “If it means to protect my future… Then I’ll fight for it.” Unknown to Umi, Zuo Ci has been staring at her and chanted some spells. However, she got the wrong idea, and she screamed, “PERVERT !!” In the same time, she swung her hand and slapped Zuo Ci on his face. “What was that just now !? Don’t tell me you’re trying to…” Umi started again, but Zuo Ci interrupted, “It was just for your preparation for your quest… But it’s complete anyway, so I don’t mind that.” “What preparation ? I don’t get it.” Umi asked in confusion, and Zuo Ci continued, “Your armors, sword and magic… It’ll come in handy. I also gave you a new single-time spell that will be useful. However… I cannot grant you the power to summon your Rune God, Selece.” “Eh !? Why !?” Umi protested, and Zuo Ci shook his head and said, “I do not have enough power to do that… Now it is almost time…” “Wait ! Will there be any help ?” Umi asked as Zuo Ci approached her. He offered his hand and said, “Your will find familiar faces there. But you will not meet them in instant. Instead, you will have to survive in a time of war and chaos… only then you will find your way to protect your history…” “Now what do I do with this ?” Umi asked again, and Zuo Ci answered, “This is your first step. Take my hand and you will be flung into my land in my timeline…” Umi had no choice, so she held Zuo Ci’s hand and suddenly she felt as if she was transported into somewhere else. When she realized what happened, she was no longer in the street, and her bag also vanished. She looked around and seemed to be located in an ancient road in China. “Where the heck is this ? This looks like ancient China, though…” Umi mumbled. But when she looked behind, Zuo Ci already vanished and his voice echoed, “Your journey begins here…” “Hey, wait ! There’s still more that I want to ask to you !!” Umi yelled, calling Zuo Ci. But there was no reply. Umi sighed in disappointment and said to herself, “I guess… I better get a move on. I’m no longer a weak girl that I used to be… so, gotta be brave, gotta be brave…” Calming herself down, Umi then started to walk along… -Somewhere nearby- “I hope I can meet you again on the battlefield, Lord Guan Yu !” Zhang Liao exclaimed as he headed away from his former friend Guan Yu. He was once serving Zhang Liao’s lord, but as his promise to Cao Cao decreed, he will leave when he found out the whereabouts of his brother, Liu Bei. And he did found out his whereabouts. And so, he was leaving Wei, and as his friend, Zhang Liao was the first to bid him farewell. ‘So the next time we meet, we’re enemies…’ Zhang Liao thought, but his mind was interrupted as he heard another sound of horse steps. It was the one-eyed general, Xiahou Dun. He asked, “Where did Guan Yu go ?” “He was on his way to break through the five gates and reunite with Liu Bei.” Zhang Liao said without enthusiasm. Xiahou Dun gritted his teeth and said, “I would do the same as you, letting him go, if I was his close friend. Unfortunately, I hate him.” “I’ll put a stop on him.” Xiahou Dun said with an angry determination, “Guan Yu, you will not escape me this time !” Xiahou Dun rode with his horse, pursuing Guan Yu as he left Zhang Liao, who continued his way back to the capital city of Xu Chang. However, his mind was too focused on how he should deal with Guan Yu the next time he meet. So, when suddenly a female figure came across his horse, he was pretty shocked. “Kyaaa !!” She screamed as she fell to the ground, as Zhang Liao was occupied to stop his horse, “Stop ! Down, boy ! Down !” Eventually, the horse stopped and Zhang Liao took a closer look to the female. She was a young blue haired woman with cerulean eyes, wearing clothes foreign to him. Of course, this female was none other than Umi herself. “You should be wary on where you go next time !” Umi warned him as she tried to get up, and Zhang Liao got off from his horse. He helped her to get up and said, “Well, about that, I am truly sorry, milady. I was too occupied with my mind, so I didn’t see you coming.” “Where… are we ?” Umi asked again, and Zhang Liao answered, “We’re near the capital of Wei, Xu Chang.” “Wei…? Xu Chang ? Wait a minute…” Umi started to feel familiar. It appeared that she also knew about the book Romance of Three Kingdoms. And so, she asked again, “Who are you ?” “I am Zhang Liao.” Zhang Liao answered shortly and Umi became shocked when she realized the truth, ‘Zhang Liao !? That means… this is the Three Kingdoms Era ?!’ Umi’s thought was interrupted when Zhang Liao asked her, “And may I ask your name, milady ?” “Oh, stop this ‘milady’ thing ! It’s embarrassing me !” Umi scoffed off, a bit annoyed, before she calmed herself and continued, “Anyway, my name is Umi. Ryuuzaki Umi.” At first, Umi was a bit shocked. If Zhang Liao’s Chinese, how did he understood her words and vice versa !? ‘Could this be… Zuo Ci’s gift to me to make me understand what he said ?’ On the other hand, Zhang Liao was stunned to hear such foreign name. ‘Foreign name, foreign clothing… Just who in the world is she ?’ “Well, where do you plan to go ?” Zhang Liao asked, and Umi thought for awhile, ‘If I say I’m from the future, I think he’s gonna freak out… So… I better lie.’ “Um… I… I’m from the eastern countries, and I got lost here… Yes, that’s right.” “Then it is dangerous to stay here in this time of chaos.” Zhang Liao said as he headed to his horse. He offered his hand to Umi, and said, “Come with me ! I’ll take you to Lord Cao Cao, and I am sure he will give you shelter.” “Cao Cao !?” Umi said in shock. She still remember how the novel Romance of Three Kingdoms depicted Cao Cao as the bad guy. She then hesitated, “But, isn’t Cao Cao…” “An evil traitor ?” Zhang Liao said, “That’s when you see him from the outside. He may be ruthless on the outside, but on the inside, he’s a bold, honorable ruler. Trust me, I promise you that he will not harm you.” Umi then thought for a little while. Zhang Liao’s words didn’t seem to contain any lies. So she decided to agree, and said, “All right. I’ll trust you.” With that, Zhang Liao nodded with a smile and he helped Umi to get on his horse, before he got on himself.
