Chapter Three:

Kagome sighed as she and Hiei reached the steps to the school. "Well, I guess I'll see ya later Hiei," She said when an idea struck her. She turned to look up at Hiei and kissed him on the cheek. "Really thanks; you keep me from falling into Molfoys' horribly planned trap."

"Y-you're wel-welcome." He stuttered in shock. `She just kissed me, no one has ever been brave enough to kiss me because of the risk I would kill them but, but she…..'

"See ya later Hiei," Kagome smiled sweetly as she flattened her ears on her head to hide them and left.

"What's wrong with you Hiei?" Kurama asked coming out of the school.

"N-nothing…" He stuttered again. `No nothing's wrong someone I have been ridiculing but helping at the same time ONLY JUST KISSED ME ON THE CHEEK WHEN I COULD HAVE KILLED HER EASILY!'

*Oh my, she did?*

*Get out of my head right now fox.*

*Look, it's our mission to find the princess for the Vampire Lord in the forest, you know how Koenma is…*

*Hn, yes, he's a stupid baby…*

*Only when he acts his age.*

*Hn, true…* Hiei smirked.

"Come on then, we must go and tell his lordship that we have almost enough information to find his granddaughter." Kurama said and dragged Hiei back into the forbidden forest.

"Oh yes about that." Gramps said and rubbed the back of his head. "I kinda already found my granddaughter or rather she found me…I guess it was both ways…"

"WHAT," Hiei yelled. "WHAT THE HELL YOU COULD HAVE TOLD US A LITTLE SOONER!!!"

"I just found out who she was!" He said and threw his hands up in defense. "She came into the forest and I order her to be tracked down."

"Oh, I see… who might I ask is your granddaughter?" Kurama stepped up. "We will be sure to protect her if we can know who she is…"

"I know spiky over there knows her, ask him."

"I do not know who you granddaughter is you senile old coot!" Hiei growled.

"How am I old if I don't age?" Gramps said. "Besides, it smells like she may have given you a kiss." He smiled evilly.

"Are you saying that the fox/vamp is you granddaughter?!" Hiei said.

"Yes, beautiful isn't she?"

"Very," Kurama said and noticed Hiei growl low in his chest. *Hiei, are you jealous? I don't like her like that; I was only agreeing I mean she is very beautiful. You can't really honestly deny it.*

"Hn," Hiei snorted. *Ok, yes she is very beautiful but I'm not jealous of anything.*

"Ok, so your granddaughter is Kagome Higurashi… We will be sure to protect her." Kurama said and bowed politely. "We will come back in a few days and tell you what's going on."

"No need, I have a direct link. Isn't telepathy a beautiful thing? Well I will see you when you do come back. Bye now." Gramps said and waved them away.

"That was very strange."

"Hn, it was." Hiei mumbled. `And I think that that kiss may have just started something new.'

"Hiei, what do you think of Kagome?" Kurama asked and looked down at his friend. "I mean you do like her don't you?"

"Hn, a little; honestly I don't know though. I do like her in some ways but others…"

"She's a pain?"

`Not quite.' Hiei thought. `Actually in other ways I love her and I don't even know her; I guess it's just things I've seen her do…' "Hn," `Now how to go on with this little thing she has started?'

"You are very quiet, what's on your mind, Hiei?" Kurama asked him as they stepped out of the woods.

"Nothing of your concern fox." He said and disappeared.

"He will never change… Good afternoon Hagrid."

" `allo ther Kurama. Ow hav ya been?"

"Just fine thank you… Hiei is acting strange… I think he might have a crush on Miss Kagome."

"Ah, ell you'll just hav to go in see. Er…find out."

"Yes I suppose, I'll see you later Hagrid." Kurama said and ran off.

"Professor Dumbledore, would it be alright if I were to go to Diagon Ally and get a gift for somebody?" Hiei asked.

"I see you would like to get something for Miss Higurashi, you may. But only on one condition. While you are there could you get me some every flavored beans?" Dumbledore said and smiled.

"Hn, sure. Thank you Professor." He said and walked over to the fireplace and pulled a bag of powder from his belt. "Diagon Ally," He said and poured half the powder out and disappeared in green flames.

"I hope he remembers my beans." Dumbledore said and looked back down at the papers on his desk.

"So, your grandfather gave you a list of the ingredients for the potion you have to make in Snapes' class?" Ginny asked.

"Yea, it will come in handy for us also, sense it's made especially for controlling bloodlusts. But please try not to use it until Hermione and I can make a few bottles of it in Potions class." Kagome said and handed her the bottle of blue liquid. "Don't let anyone know about it, ok."

"Alright." Ginny said and put it in her bag. "Tell him thank you for me."

"He said we could all call him gramps." Kagome said and smiled.

"Yes, he was nice. But very strange." Hermione said and scratched the back of her head.

"Kagome, Ginny, Hermione," Professor McGonagall said. "Do not loiter in the halls."

"Yes, Professor; we won't any more, sorry."

"its fine, How come you are all here and now getting ready?"

"………."

"Did you not get your letters? Professor Dumbledore decided it would be good if we were to have a dance for the beginning of the year and so the new students can get to know other people and perhaps make friends in other houses as you have." McGonagall said and told them to go get ready because it was to begin in about five minutes.

"This is so strange," Kagome said as she entered the common room to see all of the girls standing around in their gaudy dresses. "What the, oh my god you all look like those little wined up dolls with the really tacky outfits!" Kagome laughed. "I'm so glad I don't own a dress at least one that looks like that!"

"This coming from a vampire wanna be." Pansy(You know that girl…I don't know what they said her last name was.) "It figures you don't own a beautiful dress like mine."

"Beautiful, that thing is straight up gaudy. I don't think I've ever seen something so ugly. Even Sesshomaru's servant Jaken looks better than that thing, and he looks like a toad. Actually he's a toad demon so I guess you could say he is a toad." Kagome said and walked up to the girls dormitories.

Unfortunately for Pansy she followed Kagome who picked a package on her bed.

"To Kagome from……, ok then I have a package from nobody." She said and opened it. Inside was a black silk goth mesh dress with silver and black outlined in silver roses that curled around her arm and went down her waist to her leg. "Wow, this is beautiful."

*Thank you, I'm glad you like it.* Hieis' voice said in her head.

*You got me this?* She asked.

*Hn, yes. It's the best I could find, check under your bed.*

*Ok,* Kagome said and looked under it and pulled out a box that. She opened it; inside was a pair of black dress shoes with short heals so she wouldn't fall. *Wow, thank you Hiei! I'll have to get you something in return! Hey hold on for a second I need to ask my mom what the spell to keep things clean is.*

*I already cast it on the dress and the shoes, I can teach it to you later.* He said.

*Well thanks, but I still need to talk to my mom about something really quick, your welcome to stay in the conversation…*

*MOM!*

*WHAT?! WHERE'S THE FIRE!!!* Mrs. H yelled.

*Funny mom… This is Hiei, he's my friend… I think.*

*Hn, hello.*

*Hello, Hiei… Question, do you like my daughter?*

*………*

*Sense you didn't answer I`ll take that as a yes.*

*Mom, don't say things like that. It's a little embarrassing…*

*Ok, what did you need dear?*

*Do you know the demon language?*

*Why yes, of course I'm six hundred years old I know the language why?*

*Can you teach it to me?*

*Of course, Hiei dear do you know it?*

*Hn, yes I do know how to speak in demon tongue.*

*Well ok, you won't need this then, hold on for a moment Kagome.*

Kagome fell to the floor again as information flooded her mind and she picked herself back up slowly. *DAMN IT, I TOLD YOU TO WARN ME NAXT TIME YOU DID THAT!!!*

*Oops, sorry; I guess I forgot.* Mrs. H snickered.

*Yeah sure mom, I really believe that.* Kagome said sarcastically. *Love you mom.*

*Love you too dear, by Hiei, don't hurt my Kagome or I'll rip you head off.* She said sweetly and cut the connection.

*Sorry about that she doesn't usually do that to people I know.* Kagome said and put and illusion spell on her ears and tail then slipped out of her clothes and put the dress on. *Well thank you for the dress and shoes… Where are you anyhow?*

*In the boys dormitory. Want me to meet you out there?*

*Yeah sure that would be nice.*

*Hn, I'll see you in a few minutes then.*

*Of course. I'll see you then.* she said but didn't cut the link. She picked up her mirror and brushed her hair and wiped her face; she really didn't have to do anything due to the natural black lipstick, eye shadow, eyeliner, and the color of her nails, eyes and hair. And sense she didn't grow hair anywhere but her head(Because if she did she'd look like cousin it from the Adams family) she didn't have to worry about stockings. *You ready?*

*Hn, yes. I'll be down in a minute.*

*Alright,* Kagome said and put on some earrings with the kanji for light and dark on them.

She sighed and got ready to leave. "Pansy, you'd better hurry up and get to the dance before Molfoy dances with someone else."

"How did you know I was here?!"

"I smelled you. You know you put way to much perfume on." Kagome said and walked out of the dorm and sat in a chair to only be greeted by Hiei holding his hand out for her to take. "Thank you," She said and took it. "You are acting different than you were, you aren't just trying to get me…"

"No, most certainly not. I won't mate with anyone. To mate a forbidden child is this same as being a forbidden child yourself and I am not prepared to give anyone that curse." Hiei said and looked at her. "I guess I just like you."

Kagome smiled as Hiei pulled her up and they began to walk to the dance. "I guess you could probably say I'm a forbidden child also. My father was the heir to be the lord Vampire in the forbidden forest and everyone who has studied vampires would know the ones in that forest are the strongest so they are the leaders for all of them. Then my mom, she's a six hundred year old silver fox with power over plants and electricity and is also a priestess. It's just another kind of forbidden." She sighed. "I didn't even know what I was until recently."

"Oh, my sister doesn't even know I'm her brother."

"Why don't you tell her?"

"I couldn't she's far to pure and I don't want to taint her. With the knowledge of me being her brother she will be in more danger than she already is just by knowing me." Hiei said.

"Oh, I see. I guess it would if you have a lot of enemies huh. I get it." Kagome said and looked down at her feet. "I also see why you got a little angry when I asked what kind of demon you were…"

"No actually I was in kind of a bad mood then… But that might have had a little something to do with it." Hiei said. `God, I'm being to nice, WHY?! WHY AM I BEING SO NICE?!!!'

<Because you like her and think she's beautiful.> A voice said.

`Yes, she is beautiful but I don't like her, not like that.'

<Yes you do,>

`No I don't.'

<Then why didn't you answer Kurama's question earlier or Kagome's mom? And you didn't say anything when she said she took that as a yes.>

`Ok, I like her. Happy?! I just don't want her to be hurt. I can't let to many people know my feelings for them. But the ones for her are to strong and in only one day too.'

<I know, I know. Let her know but explain why you may sometimes treat her badly, if you do.>

`Yes, I think I will…Wait who are you?!'

<You, bye now>

"Ok, then we're here. You wanna going in together or separate?" Kagome asked.

"Together will be fine." Hiei said. "I really am glad you like the dress. It's beautiful on you and you are beautiful wearing it."

Kagome blushed and smiled. "Thank you. That's very sweet." She said and kissed him on the cheek again, only this time he turned his head slightly and she caught the corner of his mouth also. "Oh, um…Sorry,"

"It's ok, come on lets find a table to sit at." He said and Kagome nodded. "So," Hiei said as they sat down at a vacant table. "When's your birthday?"

"December 25th, yours?" She asked. (I don't know when her birthday really is…::sob:: Sorry ::Boohoo::)

"Halloween,"

"Really, that's awesome, I always did wish my birthday was on Halloween, but having a friend whose is, is the next best thing. Maybe I'll get lucky and can think of something to get you." She smiled. "And ya know what? I've gotten way to hyper so if you would just hit me or something all will be fine."

"Alright, how about if I bite your finger?" Hiei asked and lifted her hand.

"It might work."

He nodded and lifted her finger into his mouth and bit down in a not so soft but not so hard way; and as her blood ran into his mouth he began to feel a little strange. *Uh, Kagome,*

*Yes, are you alright Hiei, you look a little pale,*

*Is, is your blood supposed to make people feel like this? I feel like I'm…*

*Going to vomit?*

*Yes,*

*Oh no, Hiei. You're turning, how I don't know I have to have a little of your blood in order to turn you.*

*Today when I helped you with the vampires I got cut across the cheek, maybe you accidentally got some of my blood in your mouth when you gave me that kiss on the cheek…*

*Oh god, I think you might be right. Don't worry about it, the nausea will go away in about five minutes, but from now on, it you have steak ever you'd better get it rare cause you're going to crave blood more than regular food. But eating regular food can hold the red hunger and blood lust off for a few days, or hours depending on how much control you have.* Kagome said. *I'm afraid that once you're a vampire you can't go back to the way you were before, unless you can find the Shikon Jewel and make a wish on it. But each wish even the purist wish comes with a price.*

*Don't worry about it, I don't want the Shikon when I got to know you better I was going to ask about you doing this but, looks like I won't have to now. And besides I feel a lot better now.* He said and a slow song came on. "Do you wish to dance, beautiful lady?" He said and held his hand out to her.

"That would be wonderful, thank you very much kind sir." Kagome smiled and stood up and they gracefully glided onto the dance floor. *I have an idea…Do you know how to tango?*

*Yes, why.*

*Hold on a second.* She said. *Sesshomaru-aniki?*

*Yes, little one.*

*You know my favorite dance right?*

*Yes, the tango. Do you wish for me to have it played next?*

*Would you?*

*Of course, little one. I hope I get to see you in class tomorrow.*

*You will love you big brother.*

*You also little one,*

"Yay," Kagome said quietly and sent the message to Ginny then said. "He's going to play it."

"Good, a chance to show off with you." Hiei said and smirked.

"Ginny, would you like to dance with me?" Kurama said and held his hand out to her.

"Of course I will." Ginny said, her bright blue eyes twinkled. (I know it's a stereotype kinda but in this story with the exception of Hiei, all the vampires' eyes are going to be green, blue or silver.)

Kagome watched and smiled as Kurama let Ginny out onto the dance floor and danced to the slow hypnotic rhythm of the music. Kurama slowly tilted Ginnys' head up and kissed her for a moment.

*Would you rather dance with Kurama, I'm sure he would like to dance with you; you are both silver foxes.* Hiei said.

*No, I would much rather stay here and dance with you.* Kagome smiled. *There are just really cute together.*

*You seem a little jealous, I think you should dance with him once. Your friend shouldn't mind.*

*Hiei, I don't wanna dance with him and I'm not jealous. Not in the way you're thinking of at least. I mean not even dancing for five minutes and she gets to be kissed…* Just then Kagome blushed at what she had said. "Oops I really didn't mean to……"

Kagome was cut off when Hieis' lips touched hers and he ran his tongue across her lower lip causing her to gasp and him to kiss her deeply just before he pulled away.

"Now I'm jealous of myself…" Kagome said in awe. "Why did you…You didn't have to…"

"The tango is coming on." Hiei said and looked at Kagome who nodded.

Kagome reached in her hair and pulled out a black thornless rose and handed it to Hiei who just tucked it behind her ear.

"I don't need it." He whispered and dipped her then lifted her up and spun her slowly and a circle surrounded them and Ginny and Kurama.

"God I hate crowds that surround you like this." Kagome said and looked around at the people as she was spun and something flew out of the crowd that looked like a small knife aimed for Hieis' head band. And just before it hit him Kagome caught it and handed it to Hiei who tucked it away. "And that was uncalled for,"

"Hn, it was." Hiei said and dipped her one last time before the music stopped and most of the people in the room applauded. "Come, if we are going to have knives thrown at us we might as well just leave." He said and walked away with Kagome following close behind.

"That was wrong, to have a knife thrown at you while dancing. It seemed to be aimed at your forehead…" Kagome said and tilted her head to the side. "I wonder why…"

"I wouldn't know, though when I find out who put you in danger I'll…" Hiei blushed and looked up at Kagome who smiled sweetly knowing what he was going to say.

"It's ok, I know what you mean." Kagome said and gave him a quick hug. "To think last night I would have wanted to kill you." She said and smiled as she was about to walk away when Hiei took hold of her wrist.

"Lets go talk to Dumbledore about something before you go to bed." He said and looked at her with eyes that were emotionless to everyone but her.

"Alright, but only because I like you and think you're kinda cute." She said and laughed at his shocked expression.

"Hn," Hiei said and took her hand and they walked back to the dance where they found Dumbledore sitting in a floating chair.

"Comfy up there," Kagome asked and looked up at him.

"Very why don't you two join me?" he said and a small sofa appeared and lifted them up next to him. He looked from Kagome to Hiei and back again then noticed their hands folded together. "You seem to have become fast friends."

`Um…Well yes, I suppose… But I think you'll have to blame that on my mom and grandfather." Kagome smiled and leaned into Hieis' chest. "Unfortunately, I think, I turned Hiei into a vampire. Sort of by accident …"

"Yes, I see where this is going…Are you going to need to share a room?" Dumbledore ask.

"We might in order to keep our vampire blood under control… So will Ginny and Hermione…" Kagome said and looked down. "All accidents. A vampire can sustain it's self on another vampires blood and it takes less blood also, but you get hunger faster." She looked back up. "Then my grandfather gave me ingredients for a potion to help keep the red hunger and blood lust under some control. But if you're to far gone you have to sustain yourself with the blood and not the potion."

"I see, well, I think I can help." Dumbledore said and clapped his hands and a small elf appeared. "Please could you set up two rooms, one for Miss Kagome and Mr. Hiei and one for Miss. Granger and Miss. Weasley."

"Of course headmaster sir, I'll get to it right away I will." The little elf said and disappeared.

"That was strange…"

"Hn, yes. It was,"

"Yes, he's a good house elf. He used to work for Mr. Molfoy but managed to escape." Dumbledore said. "I think I'll put you two in the room with to bathes, only one problem with that room, there's only one bed, a king size but only one. The other has two full size beds with only one bath so you might walk in on one another which would not be a good thing. It might start a war."

"Probably." Kagome muttered.

"Alright it's settled then, you will get the room with two baths. And I will allow you to make the potions you need in there over the fire place and you can go and get the things you need from Diagon Ally at anytime unless you're in the middle of class." He said and looked at Hiei. "I expect you will want black sheets and covers. And you may want silver?" he looked at Kagome.

"Maybe," she said.

"Hn,"

"Alright then I think we can work something out. You can go to your new room in fifteen minutes your things will already be at the foot of your bed and so will you two tailed fox."

"Oh, yea. I didn't see her when I was up in the dorm earlier…"

"She somehow found her way into my study and made friends with my pet phoenix."

"Oh sorry about that. Tricky creatures those foxes are." Kagome said and glanced at Hiei who smirked.

"Yes, very." Dumbledore said and looked at Hiei again. "Oh yes, thank you for picking me some every flavored beans while you were out Hiei. I have only got strawberry and fudge all day. And now." He said and ate one. "Ear wax…" (Now where have we heard that before.)

Kagome snickered and looked at him. "I take it you don't like ear wax then."

"Not particularly." He said and picked out a blue one and glared at it for a moment.

"Don't worry sir that one is blueberry." Kagome said.

"Oh thank you."

"Did, Sesshomaru leave?"

"Why yes, he did… When back to his room to look through some papers I suppose. He can be very persuasive when it comes to negotiating."

"Oh no, don't tell me big brother threatened you… He did that to my friend Miroku once because he was a pervert kinda."

"No, he didn't. He has the skills of a fine business man though…"

"Sir, Miss. Kagome and Mr. Hieis' room is ready." The little elf said appearing out of no where. "Should I show them where it is?"

"Please do…"

"Yes sir, follow me please." He said and hopped down with Kagome and Hiei following.

They arrived at to large oak doors. "Your room is here and the password for opening the door is moonlight. Your things are already in there, so feel free to make a mess. One of the house elves will be bye everyday while you are at class and will changer your bed sheets and clean up a little."

"There's really no need, I can do that. No one needs to come up here and clean." Kagome said. "Really, it's ok."

"I insist it is my job as a house elf to clean or cook. So I will be up here during classes or another elf will. Our job only includes putting things in their proper place and dusting and making the bed. Do not worry about anything…"

"Well, ok I guess. But if you find any blood just leave it where it is." Kagome said and the elf nodded. "Alright, thank you very much for showing us where the room was. I do appreciate it."

The elf nodded again and disappeared.

"That was odd."

"Hn, yes it was." Hiei agreed as they walked into the room. "Black bed sheets with silver roses. They match your dress." He said and sat down in a chair.

"Sure does. I think I'm going to go take a shower or a bath or what ever they have in here." Kagome said and opened her trunk. "Alright then first I need to find my clothes."

"The silver dresser." Hiei said and showed her a piece of paper with where their stuff was written on it. "Mines in the black one."

"How come you get the black one?"

"Because you have the silver one," He said. "Besides I'm special."

"Yeah, special right up here." Kagome said and pointed at her head. "Very special indeed."

"Oh yeah?" Hiei smirked. "You'd better take that back, Kagome…"

"No, that's ok. I don't think I will."

"I think, I'll make you," He said and tackled her to the floor." Take it back."

"No,"

"Fine then," he said and began to tickle her.

"St-stop it!" Kagome laughed. "Don't d-d-do that!"

"Then take back what you said."

"N-no, n-never,"

"Then I won't stop tickling you." Hiei said and tickled her even more. "Submit!"

"No, I-I won't, I w-won't give i-in!" Kagome said and after a few minutes of laughing very hard. "Ok, o-ok I-II give in! You- you've won. I s-submit!"

"I new you would." He said and climbed off of her.

"Thank you, now I really am going to go take a bath." Kagome said and walked into a silver bath room. "GOD, WHY DOES EVERYTHING OF MINE HAVE TO BE SILVER, I'M STARTING TO WANT TO DYE MY HAIR!"

"I would to if I had hair like yours."

"HEY!" Kagome yelled and threw a bar of soap at him. "YOU, YOU, YOU WILL PAY FOR THAT!"

"How, you obviously can't aim very well."

"WHY YOU, YOU'RE JUST LUCKY I'M ALREADY IN THE BATH OTHER WISE YOU'D BE DEAD!"

"I already am. You're the one who did it or did you forget?"

"……"

"Just as I thought." Hiei smirked and went to sit back in the chair when he was tackled to the floor. He looked up and saw Kagome sitting on him in her black silk nightgown.

She leaned over and her hair fell over her shoulder. "Hello there, not so full of yourself now are ya?" She kissed him on the nose.

"Don't be so sure about that." He said and flipped them over. "I am superior to you,"

"Are not!"

"Are so!"

"Are not!"

"Are so!"

"Are so!"

"Are not!" He paused. "Damn you,"

"We foxes are cunning creatures are we not?" Kagome said and smiled then kissed him on the nose again.

"Yes, you are very cunning creatures. And beautiful ones also." Hiei said and kissed her on the forehead before climbing off of her again and helping her up. "Our friendship has developed very quickly…"

"Yes, it has." Kagome said brushing herself off.
