******************* The next mourning: Maki*******************
"KYAH! HIYAH!" Kick! Punch! Dodge! Roll! Jump! Kick! Jab! Feint! Leap! Punch! Back and fourth, for hours she'd been at it. Shadow boxing with herself. Uncle watched and smiled slightly, she looked like her mother and had the moves of her biological father who had been once a prime assassin in Makai.
"Avi, how about a blade spar with me?" he asked her as walked off the porch to the now panting and stretching hanyou. "It should help you a bit more with that training…though I don't see how you can get much stronger or faster." He complemented the girl as she caught her breath. They smiled warmly at each other.
"Sure!" she replied happily. She loves her blades and weaponry with a passion like no other. And she loved the chance to use them even more! So her uncle unsheathed his plain yet wonderfully crafted Katana and took a fighting stance, he was playing the part of offense. Avi took her own fighting stance after summoning, [a/NYSE summoning! She's a bit of a sorceress okay!?] Her dragon carved gold hilted, strong, silver bladed Kodachi and Katana, she would be playing defense. Once both were in the ready, Uncle charged at Avi…
****************Ningenkai to Reiki******************
There was a small deserted park near the warehouse district of the city; in fact, it was extremely close to the abandoned warehouse that was home to a certain portal to a certain Reiki. The aptly named Sakura Park named for the lone Sakura tree that bloomed in the very center of the otherwise sparsely vegetated park. And this is where the Reiki Tantei decided to meet up that Saturday at around noon, sleepy in was highly appreciated with most of the group, even Hiei had admitted once that he did enjoy sleeping in once in a while, but it was only ONCE!
Once the whole group was assembled they set off for the 5-minute walk to the portal; Yusuke got Botan on the comm. mirror while they walked. "Hi Botan." He and smiled slightly at the blue haired grim reaper who smiled, somewhat shocked back at him.
"Hello Yusuke!" She replied cheerfully. "I was just about to call you, you've got another mission!" she said, never dropping the cheerful act.
"Funny…" Yusuke replied and looked serious for once. "We were about to tell you to tell the toddler that we're coming to talk about…someone who…erm…popped up yesterday, someone who knew Kurama, a looooong time ago!"
"Well…just come on up, he'll be waiting! See you guys in a few!" She smiled, did the peace sign and the mirror went to static a second before Yusuke slammed it shut. So the boys headed through the portal and straight to the tiny lords office, where he was as always, surrounded by stacks of papers.
"Hello boys." He said, not once looking up from the file he was reading. "Hrmm…very Interesting…" he murmured top himself. The boys just stood there waiting, until Botan came in, her cheery self as always.
"Koenma sir, aren't you going to tell them about there new case?" she questioned respectfully. Koenma looked up suddenly, as though he'd forgotten the detectives were even there.
"Quite sorry boys, your knew case has to deal with and extremely strange, even by our standards, phenomenon brought to our attention by the arrival of this creature merely a week ago. Koenma pointed the remote at the big screen and immediately a huge picture of a girl. A girl with green combat boots laced up, a long denim skirt with slits on both sided up to mid thigh, and a blue long sleeved peasant top with a lighter blue bodice laced up over it. A plain gold wedding band gleamed on one hand, while three necklaces showed up, the longest chain holding a pentacle.
The boys looked at the picture with their jaws on the floor. The girl had black claws, painted apparently, her smile showed fangs and her burnt orange eyes, were that of a cats, and most distinctively of all, hair that glowed red in the sun light was tucked behind pointed elfin ears. "This picture was taken of the girl about 12 hours after she just appeared in Ningenkai." Koenma told them. Suddenly Kurama stuttered out, practically choking on the words. "Tha-th-that's-that's Avi!"
"How did you know that?!" Koenma asked him, somewhat shocked.
Kurama blushed slightly and regained his composure. "Well…she, well…she spoke with us just yesterday, then she seemingly disappeared. She, she knew all my names, and there names, and she met us outside of the school, like she'd been waiting for us." Kurama finished, not telling Koenma about how she's pointedly told him that he'd remember her soon, and how her evil grin made him so worried. He shuddered inwardly at the thought of that evil grin, and the glint in her eyes when she'd grinned at him.
Koenma was shocked…but that wasn't the half of it, this girl….
*******************Back in Makai*******************
Avi and her uncle were sitting down to lunch, provided by the makai stag Avi managed to hunt down the night before. Rotisserie deer, Yum!
"Uncle,' Avi asked quietly as she finished up her portion of the meat that had been cooked. " Why are Yusuke and Kuwabarra going to Kurama's school? I thought they were younger and if Junior High still until I researched it."
Uncle looked at the demoness in content amusement. "Much as passed here since we had last spoken Avi. Much especially since you've been away from even the earth dimension and back in Middle Earth." He told her as she listened with keen interest. Her childlike intensity and curiosity mixed with this elder wise-ness never ceased to amaze him. She was still and always would be a kitten deep at heart. "You see, the Dark Tournament even, has come and gone. Yusuke and Kuwabarra are 16 now; Kurama is humanly aged at 17, one grade and one you're in age their senior. Hiei too is slightly changed, not by much but having friends has softened him a bit, yet made him all that much stronger. Just like your protectiveness of Zuzuko fuels this little quest of yours now. So would something the same fuel a quest of revenge for him if he were on one." She nodded and then spoke.
"That's what's happened here then? But all that means is that merely 2 years have gone by here, when an uncountable amount have passed in Middle Earth, over 100 in fact!" She exclaimed, still slightly confused.
"The time moves differently, besides, did you think that that show was really keeping in time with the timeline here? If so, how could it have ever been Yoko? The answer is simply that the time moves differently in this world, as it passes seemingly quicker in Middle Earth than time in Earth." He concluded and smiled at the girl. He reminded her so much of her mother.
" Good Point." She replied and then stretched and yawned, leaping into a low branch of the tree she'd been resting her back against; she yawned once more and closed her eyes. "I think its time for a little nap before I go and pay those boys another visit." She smiled down at her chuckling uncle and placed her hands behind her head, quickly drifting off to a peaceful sleep, dreaming of her home, and her husband…
************* Reiki: Koenma's Office, still**************
The boys had quickly gotten over the shock that this girl, Avi, had to deal with the case. In fact, it honestly didn't surprise them once they actual thought logically about it. What it did do, was worry Kurama even more.
"Well…I was kinda hoping we weren't gonna have to deal with her again, damn." Yusuke commented forlornly. Hiei stared at the picture a moment longer before he refocused on the fox. Something about that girl had definitely put a dense in the fox's calm demeanor. And something about her just didn't seem…right. She was up to something, and this just proved it. Kuwabaka just stared, making peace with the fact that once again, a girl would be involved with the case, in a bad way.
In fact, all of the Tantei seemed to get a foreboding feeling when Koenma began again, to truly explain the case they were assigned to now. It was a complicated one. No where in any of the records as far back as time itself could go, was there ever a case like this one.
"You see boys," The child ruler began again, "This girl is quite the exceptional creature, not only is her half of her blood not from this very dimension, but she's also, very old, and very strange. Her records are very strange as well…"
