Sweet Emotion

Chapter 4

Nightmares

It was 12:05am. Vega sat quietly in the corner of his room and tried to

explain things to himself.

Why do I keep having dreams like this? Why must nightmares plague my

thoughts at nights? Fuck! I thought I could get away from them. It seems

that they will haunt me where ever I go. This nightmare was different.

________Flashback_________

Vega screamed in horror as the Berserk Fury charged its Particle

Cannons. He smashed his fists on the control panel, but nothing

happened. "Please Fury, don't do this. Please--Please Fury!!!" he

screamed.

"Pilot Vega. We. must destroy. them." replied Fuhrer.

"Why Fuhrer? Why do we have to destroy them?" asked Vega. "We're

on their team now, they're not our enemies anymore."

"Liger. is. enemy." replied the organoid.

"No," said Vega. "Liger is not our enemy! None of them are. The

Backdraft is our enemy now."

"Backdraft. found. I. Backdraft. found. us. How. Backraft. enemy?"

asked Fuhrer.

"They just are!" yelled Vega with a sense of annoyance in his voice.

"Please just stop it now!"

It was too late. The Charged Particle Cannons fired at the hovercargo.

Screams filled the air. A flaming hovercargo flew backwards and

landed on its side. "No Fury," Vega cried smashing his fists on the

control panel again. Then again. "No..."

"Good Job Vega," rang out a voice.

"Damn it Sarah!" yelled Vega.

"How easy it was," Sarah said. "The Berserk Fury was easily hacked.

You may be able to hack some, but you can't counter this."

"Fuck you Sarah!" yelled Vega again.

"Now, Vega," said Sarah, "no one can stop us and the Zoid Battle

Commission will fry! And you will help us."

"I will do no such thing!" yelled Vega.

"You have no choice. We have control over your Zoid," said Sarah.

Vega ejected from the Zoid. Fuhrer jumped out after him. The Berserk

Fury, however, continued to walk and destroy everything in sight.

_______End Flashback_________

Vega sat in the corner still. He had been there for 20 minutes, silently

crying. He heard a muffled scream and then muffled crying coming from a

room in the base. He got up and wiped the remaining tears from his eyes. He

listened for a moment. Yes, it was crying, but from whom? He walked into

the hall and listened. It was down the hall more. He followed the sound to

Rachel's door.

"Rachel?" he asked quietly. Rachel heard and moved to the door.

"Who--Who is there?" Rachel sobbed.

"It's me," replied Vega. "It's Vega." Rachel unlocked the door and opened it.

"What do you want?" she asked trying to hide her crying.

"You had a nightmare too?" he asked.

"Yeah," said Rachel inviting him in and motioning him to take a seat on the

bed. "I have them nightly."

"Sounds familiar," said Vega.

"What? You have them every night too?" asked Rachel.

"Yeah," said Vega. "I've had them nightly for about, hm..., 4 or 5 years."

"Same," said Rachel. "So what was yours about?"

"Well..." said Vega, "Tonight, what happened was, Fury destroyed the

hovercargo and just about everyone inside and I couldn't do a thing about it.

Then it went on a rampage after being hacked by the Backdraft."

"The Backdraft?" asked Rachel.

"Yeah," said Vega. "I was in the Backdraft."

"You left?" asked Rachel.

"Um...yeah," said Vega. "So what?"

"You know they will be after you, right?" asked Rachel.

"You mean I'm a marked man?" asked Vega.

"Yup," said Rachel in a more happy tone.

"And why are you sounding so happy all of a sudden? And how would you

know that I am marked for death?" asked Vega with a sense of anger

lingering in his voice.

"Calm down Veg (a/n: Pronounced Vague)…" said Rachel. "I know

because…well… because I am a marked woman."

[ I'm gonna start doin' author's notes like this! BTW, I got the idea from

Zinou…thanks for the idea Zin. *Plays suspense music* Right…so there is

a little bit of a cliff hanger. Next chapter will have Rachel explaining

herself. Sorry to leave you guys at this point, but Christmas, as you may

know, is approaching, and I have just received Mortal Kombat: Deadly

Alliance for the Xbox, as an early Christmas present. I will continue to

write, but now, I am gonna play that. O…will any REAL Lord of the Rings
