Summary: Lorgin's brother pays a visit.

Rijar once again glanced at the woman across the café. Nice skin, full lips, long luminous hair and she seemed more than willing to leave the place with him. She was throwing very meaningful looks in his direction for the last hour or so. Usually he wouldn't have thought twice about the matter, never being the one to miss a chance to sate his passions with a beautiful woman. //So why am I hesitating now? //-thought the home-spirit remotely. Something was wrong lately; he just couldn't shrug the feeling of uneasiness, that settled in his heart. All the home-spirits* were very sensible, foreseeing the forthcoming events in some ways or the other… He needed to talk with someone. He could always rely on his elder brother, but in light of recent events he dismissed the thought. //If the old man summoned Lorgin, than I shouldn't trouble him just now. Indeed, after the latest incident I doubted that Yaniff would ask anything of him in the near future. Lorgin was still mad with the old man for using his wife without second thoughts. His wife… Yes, that's it!!! Adian is a wise woman, with mentality completely different from all of them, she will be very interesting to talk to.// In their last adventure he was able to form a good friendship with his brother's wife. He could buy some sweets and go pay her a visit! So with new idea on his mind Rijar Taal'Cryu took of to the nearest bakery, abandoning completely the disappointed woman, whom he immediately forgot off, behind.

" So, you want me to accompany you to the Orion? ... Gait's Library?"- asked Lorgin sipping from his mug of kiran.

"You are quite correct, as usual…" came the quite reply. Yaniff relaxed in his chair and began to lovingly pet his owl-like bird Bojo, who nestled comfortably on his shoulders.

"I want to consult with Abel about the matter, he's the keeper of the library."

//Hm, must be an old friend of his.//

"And again you are quite correct." answered Yaniff smiling wickedly.

Lorgin just shrugged, used already to his teacher's habit of peeking into everybody's thoughts by now. However his train of thought was cut abruptly…

"That's not all Lorgin, Rijar and Tred will have to come also."

"You can't be serious Yaniff!!!" Lorgin's thoughts raced wildly. "Although Rijar accompanied you on several occasions, he still can't be considered as your companion* without proper training! As for Tred, he didn't even complete our youth program, when we were kids and trained to become the Knights of Charl! More so, he is now your heir. You can't possibly risk his life once again! I, I won't let you!" Lorgin was on his feet, clenching his hands in a white-knuckled grip.

"Lorgin, calm down…" Yaniff sighed. "Rijar will be all right, he learned a lot during the Shimaly* incident and as you know returned unharmed. As for Tred… He needs a chance to finally find his destiny. Ever since his young years he feared to inherit his father's madness, thus shutting himself and avoiding his destiny."

"You mean to tell me that he'll change his mind and join the knights?"- asked the bewildered Lorgin.

"No Lorgin, he was never meant to be a knight. I always sensed another destiny was lying in wait for him…"

//I wonder who could it be?// wondered Adian, standing from the small couch on the balcony, where she was napping ever since Lorgin left in a hurry at night. The small bell informed her that someone was using the lift. Soon the door opened and she came face to face with her husband's brother. His startling gray and gold eyes were sparkling with laughter and mischief.

/"Hello, Adian. I thought that I'd come and pay you a visit. I hope I didn't interrupt anything?"/- she heard his thoughts in her head. Rijar! And he was holding a huge transparent statuette of a unicorn in his hands. She smiled at him, it was really great that he came to visit!

"Rijar! And Lorgin is gone still…"

/"Then I'll just keep you company"/- he smiled back and gave her the statuette.

"Thank you, it's very beautiful!"- she carried it carefully in and placed on a low table near the bench. Rijar, after settling on the floor nearby, he extended his hand and broke off the unicorn's horn.

Adian was shocked.

"Hey! Why did you break it for?!"

Rijar brought the horn to his mouth and liked it.

/"Mmm, nice. This is molten honey. I brought it to share with you Adian."/

//A lollipop! How cute!//

She grinned as she watched him lick the sweet toy, remembering the old tale, which suggested that the crushed horn of the unicorn was said to strengthen man's potency and invoke certain feelings.

"I'd picked the other part of it if I were you." She said through giggles.

/"And why is that?"/ asked the home-spirit not bothering to remove the piece from his mouth.

"Trust me, considering the things that I've learned about you, this is the one medicine that you do not need."

Rijar grinned back and squeezed the lolly with his white teeth.

/"What was it that you said before? You can never be overly ... rich."/

She burst laughing:

"You know what I thought?"

/"And why do you think I bought it in the first place?"/

Home-spirit*- a were (person that can morth into cat form by will), the people connected to the bloodline have a mark - one golden eye, said to be the descendants from a union of a demon-cat and a human. The descendants usually have heightened senses, sometimes have the precognition ability and have more chances in developing magic abilities. Very passionate beings, who always seek partners and affection (playboy types), can also send their thoughts to people, but can't receive them like that unless communicating with another home-spirit.

Companion*- because of their peculiar traits home-spirits are considered to be great allies, that's why sometimes (but very rarely because of their freedom-loving nature) they form an alliance with the high mages, becoming companions. Time proved for that kind of unions to very productive and highly efficient.

Shimaly*- a stone consisting of varied number of phase stones (one or more), which allows the person with a special gift to count and shape time and space. If used incorrectly or by the person without a gift (even with high magic abilities) can cause paradoxes and tearing of the time-space continuum. In the beginning there were thirteen Shimalies, six of which later united to create space corridors, the rest were put under the protection of The Guild, but later were scattered in space according to the Guild's decision.
