Chapter 17 (Pheonix's P.O.V)
We had arrived in the earth realm, in small time. In using portals you can go back or forward in time; fortunately we did neither… Mitch had taken us to his place and I found myself staring at a Vampire's mark. He was marked as her mate… either to his knowledge or not, Vampire's will do anything to get what they want.
You see vampires are just like demons, if they find a suitable mate they mark them, as to keep their mates away from others and others away from their mates. But they can punish their mates by the means of pushing magic trough the mark; this leaves no scar but only leaves an inhuman pain.
Mitch and myself went out to scout the land, and we found ourselves in a deep conversation about life and death. "Death does not affect me… even if I do die there is only one way I can." I said it grimly… it was not a trait I enjoyed, being forced to watch loved ones die, and for you yourself… to live.
Mitch nodded but he had no idea what this felt like. We soon found ourselves in a bar. I could not stand this; the smell of prostitution was heavy as was the smell of liquor. I bid Mitch Farewell and left the bar, and made my way back… slowly to the house.
(Mitch's P.O.V)
As soon as we got to the bar, Pheonix left. I have no idea why but he did. After I ordered a scotch, I reminded how beautiful the barmaid was. She said she had a break in five minutes… this was good timing? Or was it just my bad luck changing for the best. She soon got off work and I found myself in a conversation with her.
"So what's your name?" I asked curiously, but she did not seem too interested in talk as she tried to sit on my lap… I stood up quickly and asked her to dance; I was not in this kind of mood, plus… I don't have "fun" with prostitutes. After a quick dance, she invited me to come out back to have a smoke with her. I sighed and shook my head, "I don't smoke so I will have to decline." I shrugged and left her standing there, awed that a male could withstand her seduction…
I almost made it to the doorway before an old friend met me at the door, pointed a gun at my head and said. "We need more customers Mitch… if you don't play tonight I will kill you before you get a chance to think. Is that understood?" I nodded… this wasn't the kind of guy that you mess around with. He brought me into a back room; and gave me a guitar and pointed out two others that would help me, a drummer and a Back up guitarist.
I slowly nodded at them, and then wrote up a couple songs as quickly as I could. The man was still holding the gun a good six feet away, I wrote up a warning song, so if either of my two oldest friends were here… they would go to get help. After I had finished about an hour later, the man got up and shoved me towards the stage. The other two followed obviously not knowing what was going on.
I went out to the stage, and noted a few of the people here. There were about two hundred tables for six here, and a good-looking dance floor. At the moment there were about thirty-five people in the bar, no doubt when I started to play the bar would be packed with people… I was pretty much famous here.
I decided to play until it sleeps, Metallica was one of my favorite bands and the reason I played guitar. So I turned my guitar on and started to play the song.
After this song, about one hundred people had come into the Bar, making the count to about one hundred and thirty. The Owner was beaming with pride that his Bar was doing so well, and he urged me to play another song. With the help of his little friend I did so. I thought of the vampire that put the mark on me, and started to play a song,
Wide awakened out of spinning
Round the safest orbit
You controlled the ordinary
I was grateful for it
Wide awake in the beginning
Trembling after the fall
Only half my world remembers
While the other half revolves
Cut off cause I can't remember
A face that could cut me deeper
But hearts could never leave me bleeding
Becoming the cause and burden
The lesson begins unlearning
And it has never been forgiving my dear
It's all too familiar
I've been here before
I'll carry this weight for your smallest reward
Because I'll continue to break down the door
Just let me in I swear
It will not be like before
Can't think of what to say
I can't think of what to do
I just think I might be losing my mind
Can't stop this agony
Cancel my therapy cause
I just thought of you
and now I feel fine
Collecting the strangest conscience
Apathy returns it's offense
But only after I get moving
Relax and being the change
In time for the newest age
To help me find out what I'm missing in here
This song was a mix feeling of all of my emotions in one… this song I had heard only once, on the radio the band was called Finger eleven. The song called therapy, the crowd that I had collected were cheering me to play all there favorite songs. I nodded and played each of them… one by one
But then my two buds showed up at their favorite bar. And saw me then they looked behind the curtains and saw the gun. They quickly went to the van they had and pulled out two shotguns. They then went into the bar hiding the guns in their coats.
They went backstage and shot the manager, my best friend. Alex saw me and told me to get the hell out of there, I ran like there was no tomorrow. As soon as I rounded the corner I could hear more gun blasts, And curses of both my friends.
I ran like a bat out of hell into a small forest, where I could stay in peace without being shot at. Or asked to give an autograph. After a few hours of recuperating I went back the house, I saw that none of the others were awake and also there was a message. I played it back on the message machine.
"Hello Mitch Syrian? This is the hospital… your mother was kidnapped from here two hours ago, Come as soon as possible. Thank you." That was all I heard, before I took off to the hospital. I did not hear Nateal trying to get me to calm down, or Tyde as he snored. I could only hear my feet pounding on the cold hard pavement, and my head pounding as though it was going to break through my skull.
I soon arrived at the hospital then ran to the room my mother was in. I could only hope that she was all right, but she was not there… I quickly ran out the door and followed my heart, and where it thought I should go. I soon found myself at an old construction site. It had been abandoned because people had said it was haunted, but other then that it was a nice piece of land…
I looked around and saw my mother, hanging at least five hundred feet in the air; if she were to fall she would break all her bones in her body. Then a man stood beside her on the crane she was attached too. He grinned and jumped down. He landed with surprising ease and he barley made a disturbance to the grass he landed on.
I yelled at him "What have you done with my mother? If you have done anything I swear I wi-" I was cut off as he said, "nothing has happened to her, but something will happen unless you forfeit your life. You must make your decision now, or both will pay the forfeit." He grinned in a catlike fashion "unless that's what you want…"
I snarled back "why does everyone want to take my life so badly? Why cant someone just kill me other then killing my family!" Pheonix then appeared with a metal teacup, drinking his herbal tea, he said calmly " leave her be Sazach. She has nothing to do with this, and neither does Mitch. But who does this concern?" Sazach seemed rather uneasy by Phoenix's sudden appearance and was visibly scared.
"Leave now or she w-will die Pheonix" he stuttered and fear was in his eyes. Pheonix seemed to notice this and smirked. He put down the empty teacup placing it on a small bench. "I will kill you with my tea cup. Now if you want to live you can run, if you want to die charge me." Sazach not seeing any other chance charged at Pheonix with his blade raised high.
At the last moment Pheonix kicked the bench in the middle, causing the teacup to fly into his prepared hand. Then with tremendous precision and strength he drove the cup into Sazach's heart, then twisting the Cup so Sazach's heart would stay in the cup rather then hang there. Sazach made a face of absolute horror, but while he died a dagger, no larger then a child's hand. Made its way to my mother, and stabbed her in the neck.
I cried out as his mother dropped from the five hundred foot crane. Onto the rough pavement, leaving nothing of her body… or anything of her. I dropped to my knees as I saw this blood spot on the cold ground. Tears were running down my face, the only thing I could remember was seeing Pheonix disappear then someone in a blue cloak appear…
