Fayt bounded after the wolf, deep into the forest. The sun was fully up now, but the trees were so dense that it was still as black as midnight throughout the forest. But that didn't bother Fayt and the wolf. They could see perfectly clear in the dim light. In fact, Fayt had noticed a distinct change in all of her senses. Now, she could smell blood a mile off and hear it fall to the ground many times that distance.
Soon, they came across a stone cave that was encased in the side of a mountain. At the entrance, there stood a white wolf. It shone brightly in the dim light and made everything around it shimmer.
“You have brought me another werewolf, have you not, Uto?” The wolf was looking away, yet he knew exactly who and what had come to the cave to seek his information. “I smelled you coming,” he answered the question that had never come.
“Yes, master.” The wolf named Uto replied. “This girl was a friend of the Destroyer. She wishes for his return.”
“Girl. Please tell me your memories. Tell me all that you recall has happened this night.”
Fayt told him everything. From how the wolves had brutally murdered Ryo, to the raw enjoyment of her first kill. She finished with the conversation between herself and Uto.
“Please. Bring him back.” She pleaded.
“My daughter, it is as I thought. Your memory of the night was altered by the powerful wolf that bit you. He has the power to erase and replace the memories of whoever he wishes. Anyway, this boy, Ryo, was the reincarnation of a powerful warrior—Shelomith, the Destroyer. There is a memory that I possess, of an ancient battle with that warrior, when he vowed to return to life and slaughter all of the wolves in my pack once again. But this need not be told in words, for I can show you the memory.

Fayt stood in a place that was altogether unrecognizable to her. The remains of a great fire were smoldering to an ash. Tree trunks and broken branches lay on the ground, obscuring the path.
Suddenly, she heard the yelps of dying wolves. She ran in the direction of the screams for help, and found only dead bodies-of wolves as well as humans-scattered all over the ground. A white wolf was still fighting a human; both were badly wounded. The wolf's fur was stained red from the blood pouring down the open wounds all over its body. The human's arm was severed almost to the point of falling off, and there were scratches all over his face and neck, all of which were bloody and raw.
Fayt hid behind a fallen log for fear of being seen, and watched the wolf literally tear the man apart.
Before the wolf could deliver the final blow, the man muttered something under his breath, and then spoke directly to the wolf.
“Shiro, you and your pack have made a mistake. Look around you. You and I are the only ones that still have the will to live on and fight. I, with my twenty companions, have defeated your pack of hundreds. A horrible mistake, indeed. It was very foolish of you to think that you could defeat me, Shelomith the Destroyer.”
“You are the fool, Shelomith. You have been defeated, yet you refuse to accept it.” Shiro retorted.
“We shall see about that. I have put a curse on the both of us. In five thousand years, I will be reincarnated into a more powerful swordsman than any man before me. Until then, you will stay on this accursed planet, waiting for the demise of yourself and your pack. I am looking forward to our rematch.” Shelomith answered with a wicked smile.
“I will also look forward to the day of your final defeat.” And with that, Shiro sunk his teeth deep into Shelomith's neck and tore it away.

Fayt was back in the cave now. Uto had left, and the pack leader was sitting in front of her. “Shiro? Is that your name?” She asked the pack leader.
“Yes, my daughter. That is my name. Now do you understand why we had to rid the world of that wretched human boy, Ryo?” Shiro answered.
“But I loved him!” Fayt shouted.
“I am unduly sorry, but would you rather that the whole pack be dead?” Shiro argued.
“No! You are my family! But Ryo was like family to me, too. Please bring him back!” She might have well been trying to reason with the stone wall of the cave. Because despite her constant cries and pleadings, Shiro stuck with his answer. It wasn't as if he wanted to bring his enemy back to life!
“I cannot allow Ryo to be alive.” That was his final, solid answer.
All of a sudden, Uto ran inside the cave. “Fayt! Ian has arrived in the village. Come with me!”
