“Hmm…. How's this?” Angelina asked as she modeled a black knee length skirt which was tattered at the end and uneven with a matching short sleeve black tee.

Dan glared at her and was adjusting his black tie with his changed formal crimson red shirt and still had on his nice black jeans, “Uh… You should dress up more… No tattered skirt… Don't you have another one?”

Angelina rolled her eyes, “This is dressing up for me!” she said as she let out a small sigh. “Fine…” she said as she marched to their closet to find another skirt. She was glad that she didn't have to change her shirt at least. Dan could hear Angelina let out another sigh when she was in the closet and she quickly changed her skirt, “Any better?” she asked annoyed. This time she was wearing a black skirt with cream colored pin stripes and the outline in the shape of a cream colored butterfly on the right corner of the skirt.

Dan nodded, “I guess…” he let out a small sigh because he was nervous about the luncheon, “Ready?” he asked.

“One second…” Angelina said with a nod as she grabbed her small black purse and put on some studded slip on sandals. “Ok, now I'm ready,” she said with a smile. “Wait… Are we taking the motorcycle?” she asked in more of a plea than a question.

“I don't want to get bugs on our nice outfits…” Dan said, even though he would love to take the motorcycle. “The car will be fine.”

Angelina rolled her eyes at Dan because his excuse wasn't even a good one, “Ok, fine,” she said as she followed him to the car.

Angelina let out a nervous breath as Dan rung the doorbell to Jonathan's manor, “Holy shit…” she whispered, “This place is HUGE…”

Dan nodded and was about to say something when the door was opened by Jonathan himself. “Ah, I've been expecting you two!” Jonathan said with a smile, “Come in, come in.” he said with a wave.

Dan and Angelina entered and their coats, as well as Angelina's purse, were taken to another room. Angelina automatically grabbed Dan's hand at her side, something she tended to do when she was nervous about something. When Jonathan offered his hand Angelina shook it with her free hand, “Nice to meet you,” she said with a slight smile.

“Nice to meet you too!” Jonathan replied and gave Angelina casual kiss on the cheek, “I hope you'll enjoy this luncheon. Take a look around, there might be some familiar people here.” His eyes never left Angelina as he was talked.

Angelina blushed and slowly nodded with a slight frown trying to register what had just happened, “Yeah… I think I see Chris….” she offered when she could see Chris' messy blond hair in the crowd. “It was nice meeting you Jonathan,” she said with a slight smile.

“Talk to you later Jonathan,” Dan said, attempting to seem like everything was alright. Once he saw Chris, he steered Angelina over to him where he also saw Doug and Josh.

“Hey guys!” Chris waved at Angelina and Dan as they headed toward them. He was wearing a black suit with pin stripes.

Angelina thought it was funny seeing everyone dressed up. Practically everyone at the party was wearing black and/or crimson red. “Hey,” said Angelina with a smile, “So… Do any of you guys know why Jonathan's invited us all here?”

The Japanese/Caucasian who was just an inch or two shorter than Dan, dressed in a black suit, shrugged, “He throws these sorts of things once and a while… I mainly just come for the free food and don't complain… There are enough acquaintances here to get through the boringness of it all,” Doug said, matter-of-factly with a smile.

Angelina smiled and laughed still slightly nervous, “Yeah, I'm glad you guys are here… I don't think I know anyone else and I was worried that it was just going to be me and Dan…” She leaned in and whispered the next part, “And between me and you guys… Jonathan seems sort of off…”

Doug nodded, “The gang's all here. So, it's all good,” he said still smiling as he patted Angelina on the shoulder to try and comfort her. “And I know what you mean about Jonathan, but he's not that bad once you get to know him.”

If he had to guess, Dan thought there were about 30 vampires at the party and few brought their “shadows”. He let out a sigh from both irritation and disgust that they would bring along their shadows. He could only sense a couple of humans in the group. When he was looking around he could see people giving Angelina questioning looks and then he saw her. The tall slender blond, who he had a relationship before he met Angelina, was heading their way. “Shit…” he whispered and looked away trying to act normal.

“Dan!” Angelina turned to see who was calling Dan and saw the woman in a crimson red dress which was cut to show off her cleavage and had a slit that came above her knee. Angelina's eyes looked over at Dan with a questioning look. The woman had a slight accent and Angelina couldn't tell what it was from the one word.

“Oh Dan, I haven't seen you in what seems like centuries! How are you?” the woman asked in what sounded like a British accent and a huge smile. She threw her arms around Dan and gave him a big hug.

“I'm doing fine… Uh, Jennifer this is my girlfriend Angelina… Angelina, Jennifer,” Dan said after pulling away from the awkward hug, motioning to each girl when he said their name. He smiled and put his arm around Angelina's waist.

“Nice to meet you,” Angelina said with a polite smile.

“Girlfriend?” Jennifer asked with raised eyebrows and hands on her hips. “Interesting… You don't seem like his type Angel.”

“And that's the reason why I dumped you Jennifer…” Dan said, feeling terrible that Jennifer had spotted him and was deciding to give Angelina shit. “I don't date bitches,” he mumbled under his breath.

Jennifer pursed her lips together and her eyes started turning black, apparently she heard Dan's comment.

Angelina returned the raised eyebrow with one of her own and put her hand that was holding Dan's hand around his waist, “The name's Angelina,” she corrected Jennifer. “And we're doing just fine thank you very much. We've been together for three years, four in September.”

Jennifer glanced from Angelina to Dan, “Really? How fascinating,” she said, obviously bored with the subject. She glanced up at Chris and Doug, “So, who's your friend?” she asked pointing at the Pilipino looking man about the same height as Doug who was wearing also wearing a black suit.

“The name's Josh,” the man said holding a hand out to Jackie, “Nice to meet you.” He offered a kind smile and his dimples showed.

Jennifer returned his smile and instead of shaking his hand she gave him a kiss on the cheek.

Josh blushed slightly and Angelina felt like she was about to be sick from the awkwardness of everything, “I think I'll be right back,” she said. “Anyone know where the bathroom is?”

Chris nodded, “Uh, if memory recalls, it's the fourth door on your left down that hallway,” he said as he pointed to the hallway to his right, Angelina's left.

“Thanks,” Angelina said with a slight smile and headed off to the bathroom. She made her way through the crowd and found the hallway. “I had a feeling this party would suck…” she thought to herself, “At least the gang's here.” She looked at the designs on the wallpaper in the hallway between doors. It was decorated with different sorts of dark colored flowers. “A bit girly for a guy's place,” she muttered under her breath. She looked up and saw a door, “What number door was I on?” she thought to herself, “Either three or four… All well, if it's not this one I'll just try the next one,” and opened the door.
