Dan let out a small sigh, nodding and not really paying much attention to the conversations going on around him. “Where the hell is Angelina?” he thought to himself and he heard Angelina scream “DAN!” He looked around the giant room to see if anyone else had noticed. No one else was looking to see where it came from so he frowned slightly. “Hey… Chris, where'd Angelina say she was going?”
Chris looked at Dan and saw his worried expression, “Just to the bathroom… I think she felt awkward with Jackie and not knowing many people. Why?” he frowned slightly.
Dan shook his head, “I could have sworn I heard her shouting my name a second ago…” he took a sip from a glass he had grabbed from the busboy that was serving drinks. “It hurts so much… Dan…” he heard Angelina's voice again. “There! Did you hear that?” he asked, a worried look appearing on his face.
Chris looked at Dan with a raised eyebrow and shook his head, “No… Are you ok man?”
Doug looked over when he heard Dan, “What's going on?” he asked while looking at Chris and Dan.
Dan scanned the room, “I dunno, but I don't like it…” he said as he headed off towards the bathroom.
Josh noticed Dan leaving “Where's he going?” he asked with frown, feeling lost.
Jackie looked from Dan to Josh, “Oh, I dunno, but I'm sure it's nothing important,” she said in an attempt to keep the attention on her.
Chris and Doug shrugged and followed Dan. “Wait up you guys! Um, sorry babe…” Josh apologized to Jackie as he headed off following Chris and Doug, “What's going on?” he asked.
Dan pounded on the bathroom door, “Hello??? Angelina?” he heard a flush and a man came out. Dan blushed, “Uh… Sorry…” The man blinked and stared at Doug, Chris and Josh standing behind Dan, then shrugged and walked back towards the party. “Damn it…” Dan muttered under his breath, “Where the hell is she?”
“You should know! She's your Beloved,” Chris paused when he saw the look of guilt appear on Dan's face and shook his head in disbelief. “You haven't turned her yet?!”
“Angelina's your Beloved?! Dude, why didn't you tell us?! Congrats man!” Doug said while punching Dan's shoulder with a smile and straightened up when Dan shot him an irritated look.
Josh looked confused, “Turned her? What would you turn Angelina into?”
Doug glanced at Chris with a questioning look and Chris just shrugged.
“Angelina?!” Dan shouted before deciding to start checking the rooms by the bathroom. He opened the door to the library and saw Jonathan holding Angelina against the wall. His eyes grew wide and he grabbed a heavy metal statue that was on a table near the entrance to the library and slowly crept up behind Jonathan. He swung and knocked Jonathan down, then hit him a few more times to make sure that he was unconscious.
Chris, Doug and Josh followed Dan into the library. “What the fuck is going on?!” the three asked in unison, which rarely ever happened.
Angelina slid down the wall and started to pass out, falling toward Dan who caught her. “Angelina…” Dan said softly, holding her closely. “What the hell happened? God... We need to get out of here… Especially with Jonathan the way he is…”
Doug and Chris gasped when they saw Jonathan lying on the floor unconscious with blood falling down his chin. “This is not good…” Chris whispered while shaking his head in disbelief.
“Yeah, no shit, you're telling me…” Doug said agreeing.
Josh looked horrified when he saw the blood coming out of Jonathan's mouth, “What the hell?” he frowned.
Doug looked at Josh, “Uh… You don't know what's going on?” he asked, shock appearing on his face.
Josh shook his head, “No…” he frowned at the scene and he saw the blood coming from Angelina's wrist now creating a small red spot on the floor.
Doug glared at Chris, one thought coming to mind, “He's not one of us?!” a sudden look of horror appeared on his face.
Chris shrugged, “I thought it'd be ok if no one knew! Maybe we could get more fans that way…” he offered while rubbing his head and letting out a long sigh.
Josh looked at Doug, “Oh, you mean that you're vampires? I'd heard the rumors… But don't worry, your secret is safe with me…”
Doug raised an eyebrow surprised that Josh knew their secret, “Well, now isn't the time to talk about this... We need to get the hell out of here and fast.”
Dan got up and picked Angelina up in his arms, “How the hell are we going to slip out of here like this? I'm surprised people haven't already showed up at the smell of fresh blood…”
“Maybe there's a secret exit!” Josh offered and the rest of the group stared at him like he was crazy. “What? There's always one in the movies and stuff… Why not here?” he started pulling books from the shelves frantically and sure enough, one of the shelves opened up to reveal a passage way.
Doug's mouth dropped open, “This day keeps getting weirder and weirder…” he mumbled. “Where the hell does that thing lead to?”
Dan swallowed, “I have no idea, but we seriously need to get out of here and fast... Angelina's pulse is slowing down. I think she might be… dying…” he whispered the last word as he looked down at Angelina who had turned pale.
“Fine... We'll take the stupid secret passage way out of here… If we die though, I blame YOU!” Chris said as he pointed at Josh.
“I think we'll survive,” Josh said with a smile as the group headed down the passage way.
The group all let out a breath of relief when they finally made it out toward the front of the house and headed to find their cars in the parking lot.
“Someone's going to notice something's wrong… And Jackie might open her big mouth about us disappearing during the party… The first place they'll probably look is at our places…” Dan said, trying to figure out how they were going to outsmart the other vampires. Even though there weren't many at the party, there were many more who didn't show up that lived in the city and once word gets out about Jonathan's assault, their little group would be in serious trouble.
“Well, I don't think any of them know where I live… And I've got some extra rooms,” Josh offered, “Maybe you guys could crash there for a bit. I don't mind.” The group all agreed to meet up at Josh's place after gathering a few belongings.
“Can I get a ride?” Dan asked, “I don't think I could concentrate to drive real well with Angelina like this…”
Chris nodded, “Sure, I'll give you a lift,” he said as he patted Dan on the shoulder.
“Well, let's hurry up and not take too long…” Doug said, “Think we could all meet up at Josh's in about an hour?” Everyone nodded and went their separate ways.
Chris helped Dan get Angelina into the back of his car safely and Dan sat in the backseat with her. “You really think she might die?” he asked with a concerned expression.
Dan nodded, “I'm scared she might… And I don't want to risk it if she's going to die.” He let out a long sigh, “I wanted to talk to her about it before turning her…”
Chris nodded, “I'm sure she'll understand once we explain things to her… And she starts remembering what happened before she passed out.” He shut the car door, got into the driver's seat, and started the car, and then they headed to Dan and Angelina's apartment first.
Dan looked down at Angelina's pale face and he brushed away some loose strands of hair. He could tell that her pulse was getting slower and slower. He let out a small sigh and lifted her up, his eyes turning black. He cleared the hair from her right shoulder and his incisors grew, he leaned in and gently bit her, taking some of the little blood she had left. He knew when to stop and he grabbed an army knife he always carried with him in his back pocket. Dan held his breath for a second and cut his wrist to give Angelina some of his blood. “God, I hope this works…” he said, feeling bad about the whole situation.
Chris' eyes blacken too at the smell of the fresh blood, “You don't turn people very often do you?” he asked somewhat concerned, glancing in the rear view mirror to see Dan giving Angelina some of his blood.
Dan shook his head, “No, I try not to… I mean, why should we put this curse upon other people?”
Chris nodded slowly, “Yeah, I guess you could put it that way...” He pulled up into the driveway of Angelina and Dan's place, “Is it ok if I pick you guys up in a bit with your stuff?”
“I still have the motorcycle. I think we'll be ok,” Dan replied with another sigh, he was obviously depressed about all that happened in the last hour. Angelina's eyes opened, blackened. She sat up and grabbed Dan's arm and started sucking some of his blood. “It's working…” he said in a whisper then had to pull Angelina off. “Ok, that's enough for now... We'll get you some more later…”
Angelina started blinking and grabbed her head, “What the hell?” she asked with a frown, wiping her mouth off. She blinked a few more times when she noticed the color of the liquid on her hand. “Is that… blood?!” she asked with a panicked expression on her face, her incisors were longer than usual.
“I forgot how fast the process can be…” Dan thought to himself. “I'll explain when we get inside,” he said as he got out of the car and helped Angelina out as well. He helped keep her steady as they walked into their home, Chris driving off once they both got inside.
