Fan Fiction ❯ Fallen Angel ❯ The Archery Field ( Chapter 2 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Yay, I finally got to this one! I promised Hikari that I would update all three stories before tomorrow…and I did! Pats for Yuki!

As you know, I don't need to put a disclaimer because these characters are mine, and I'm not putting quotes on this story…

Mitsukai followed his daily morning routine then walked out the door, wandering the streets like usual.

All the while, Amy got ready, still feeling the butterflies in her stomach from thinking about her official "not-date".

~* 3:30 pm *~

Mitsukai sat at a table, waiting and drinking his cup of coffee. He looked up as the bell over the door rang. Amy walked through the door, dressed in a pair of low-rider blue jeans, army boots, and a white tee-shirt that had the "I'm not listening" Happy Bunny ® on it. She walked over to his table, her short, blonde pony-tail bobbing with each step.

She sat down across from him and ordered a cappuccino with cream.

She looked back at him, blushing as he sat there with his eyebrows raised in question.

"It's better than the clothes I wore to school," she huffed.

Mitsukai held his hands in front of him in an attempt to show his understanding.

As he picked up his cup and took a drink, she looked him over. Today, he wore a pair of baggy blue jeans, what she presumed to be the same knee-high black boots, and another black muscle-shirt with a turtle neck and red hems on the arms.

She imitated his expression, raising a brow curiously.

He chuckled softly at her. "You are a bold, young woman."

She huffed again. "You don't look that much older than me. So, I wouldn't talk if I were you."

"Looks can be deceiving, Amy," he said with a slight glint in his eye, "you should know."

Amy looked at him suspiciously. "What's that supposed to mean?"

Mitsukai stood suddenly, scaring a gasp out of her. "I assume you will find out very soon, indeed."

He walked over to her chair. Amy stared at his outstretched hand suspiciously for a moment before placing her own hand in his palm. He helped her to stand then they both left the café, walking past a group of stalker-girls without a passing glance.

As they walked down the sidewalk, Amy grew increasingly uncomfortable in the silence. "So, what do you do all day?"

He looked at her through the corner of his eye from behind his shades. "What would you like me to say? You seem like you are expecting something."

"Well," she fidgeted under his gaze, "I don't know. I was just wondering."

Mitsukai nodded, answering, "Nothing at all."

"What," she practically screamed, earning some questioning stares from `passer-by's.

"Exactly what I said," he answered. "I walk around the city all day long, doing practically nothing."

"Wait," Amy raised her hands in front of her. "You mean to tell me that you don't have a job, and you just do absolutely nothing all day?!"

"Well, not exactly. I train in weapons everyday."

"So, you can kill someone or something?!"

`She's closer than she would believe…' "No, but just to keep my senses sharp and keep myself in shape."

`I'll say,' she thought as she looked at his arms and chest. She blushed furiously at the thought, catching herself staring at him. She looked back in front of her to watch where she was going.

"So," she began, pausing when he tilted his head to look at her, "where are we going right now?"

Mitsukai shrugged. "I would like to show you something at my house."

Amy tensed at that. `I wonder what he's planning…and why does it have to be at his house?!'

He raised his eyebrow elegantly at her. "You need not worry yourself. I do not plan to take advantage of you, if that is what you were thinking."

She began to blush a dark shade of red, muttering, "you can never be too careful." Then they fell into silence.

As the turned a corner Mitsukai turned to her asking, "So, I told you what I do all day, now you tell me what you do."

Amy looked up at him. "I'm a student at the local University. I'm an honor student there, one of the top students," she said, seeming to glow.

Mitsukai began walking up the sidewalk to his house. Amy froze once he got to the door, watching as he unlocked it. She moved her gaze to the impressive house in front of her. `This sure puts my place to shame,' she thought as Mitsukai motioned for her to follow him inside.

She quickly jogged through the doorway, her jaw falling open as soon as Mitsukai closed it with a small click.

"Wow," she breathed.

He looked at her then placed his fingers under her chin, lifting her jaw to close her mouth.

"If you would kindly wait right here, I'll be back soon," he said moving to walk down a hallway to her right. "Please," he motioned to the living room in front of them, "make yourself at home."

She nodded dumbly, making her way to sit in a chair, reveling in the comfortable feel of the material.

Mitsukai returned a few minutes later, dressed in a traditional kimono. The shirt was white and the pants a navy blue, his shades still in place.

"Follow me," he said as he walked toward the back of the house, Amy following close behind.

When they got outside, Mitsukai turned to the wall and grabbed two bows and two quivers full of arrows. He handed one bow and quiver to Amy then walked away from the house, facing the targets across the giant yard.

Amy stood there, moving her gaze between the wall full of blades, spears, and other assorted weapons to the bow and quiver in her hands then finally landed on Mitsukai.

"What," she said as she walked up to him, "am I supposed to do with these?" She held the items in question up to him.

"Shoot the targets," he said, releasing his arrow.

It flew right to the bulls-eye in the target across the field.

"Fine," she grumbled as she tried to mimic Mitsukai's pose.

She held her bow up and tried to aim, practically jumping out of her skin when Mitsukai wrapped his arms around her.

"I'm simply trying to help you get into the right pose," he said, placing his hand over hers.

She nodded silently, blushing a pretty shade of pink.

He chuckled as they let their arrow fly. It split straight through Mitsukai's arrow, the two halves falling harmlessly to the ground.

"I'd say you're a natural," he said, making his way back to his previous position.

"Yeah, right," she muttered under her breath.

They both took aim, but only Amy's hit. She looked over to see what was wrong, seeing Mitsukai on one knee, bracing himself with his bow.

His eyes behind his sunglasses were perceptively larger; his hand grasped at his chest as he struggled to breathe.

"Oh, my god," Amy breathed, making her way over to him. She placed a hand on his shoulder, feeling the tenseness of his muscles. "Are you okay?"

He suddenly looked up, past the targets, taking his sunglasses off. His eyes were startling, metallic silver. He searched the skies, his eyes darting around rapidly.

She studied his eyes as he started looking for something. He had a fairly large scar over his left eye, causing the blind look in it.

Just as she started to move around to his other side to look at his other eye, he jumped toward her and tackled her to the ground. Behind them the wall exploded in a giant cloud of splinters and dust.

"What was that," Amy practically screamed as Mitsukai slowly climbed off of her.

He kept his legs on either side of her hips, pinning her to the ground, as he looked behind him. She lifted her head in time to see a giant monster standing on the archery field, its tentacle embedded in the side of the house.

It pulled the tentacle back and began approaching them.
