Fan Fiction ❯ Fallen Angel ❯ His Injuries... ( Chapter 14 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

To all you `New Sibling' fans, I'm so sorry! I haven't updated in a while and I probably won't update it in quite a while more! -_-` I'm getting bored of writing it, so it'll probably end soon… Umm… School's about to start up again, so my updating will probably slow down to, like, once every week, or once every other week or something…I'm so sorry!

"Are you alright," Kage asked, rolling her eyes.

Amy looked up from her spot on the floor beside Mitsukai's bed, unconsciously running her fingers over the dragon pendant again. She nodded solemnly, moving her gaze to rest on Mitsukai's still lifeless from.

It had been two days since he had fought Ragnarok, and he hadn't moved. The blood flow had decreased and practically stopped, but would ooze slightly whenever Amy changed the bandages.

Kage turned and started out the door, but stopped when she heard Amy speak.

"You don't think," she said, staring intently at Mitsukai, "you don't think he was poisoned again…do you?"

"No," Kage answered plainly. "Ragnarok is a being of electricity and lightening. He doesn't have a single drop of poison in his system. There's no way he could've poisoned Mitsukai without our knowing."

Amy nodded again, never taking moving her eyes. "Thanks, Kage."

Kage rolled her eyes and left the room. `If he doesn't wake up soon, I'll have to defend the little twerp,' she thought as she shuffled through her card deck, sitting down at the island bar in the kitchen. `And I won't put as much effort into it as he does. She might be easier to protect if they knock her unconscious.' Kage reveled in the thought as she dealt the cards, casting her magic to create three shadow illusions to play with.

Mitsukai moaned as he sat up slowly, holding his head to keep his vision from spinning. His left shoulder surged with pain each time he moved, and he wasn't getting any feeling from his left wing.

He looked around the dark room, finding everything in order.

"Mitsukai," Amy whispered uncertainly from right beside him.

He stared at her for a moment before she stood up and walked toward the door. She turned on the lights so she could see him, and then walked back, kneeling beside him again. When she looked into his eyes, he refused to meet her gaze. Instead he looked away, toward the doorway leading to the library.

"Are you alright," she asked softly.

Mitsukai ignored her, rubbing his aching shoulder as his fingers continued down his back to the base of his wing. His fingers met the wet, cold feeling of the bandages that covered it. They were soaked all the way through.

"You probably need those changed," Amy continued to try and get him speaking.

She reached over to unwrap the wing, but he moved away from her. He wrapped his fingers around the top bend of the wing, sliding his fingers between the large, black feathers. Suddenly, he plunged his claws through the flesh, tightly grasping the bones. With one swift jerk, he ripped the wing from its base, lightly splattering his arm and Amy's face with the warm, sticky blood. He tossed the torn appendage across the room and into the wall. It made a sickening thud when it hit then slid down to rest on the floor, slowly forming a pool of blood.

Amy fell backwards, away from Mitsukai, in shock. He seemed not to notice as he glared menacingly at his own wing on the other side of the room.

"Mitsukai," Amy tried shakily, "what's the matter?"

He snorted in disgust. "When I first battled Ragnarok, he was a fairly easy opponent. Now," he looked down at his hands, soaked in blood, "it was all I could do to dodge his attacks. I could only get two feathers in him, and that was my last resort. The centuries have worn me down. I am but a shadow of my former self."

She vaguely heard what he said as she stared in wide-eyed horror at the gaping wound on his back. What used to be a huge, gorgeous, black wing was turned into a scarred mass of flesh and bone. All that was left were several scraggly feathers on the base of his wing.

"You still protected me, Mitsukai," she whispered softly. "That's all that counts, right?"

"Tell me," he barked harshly, turning his pointed glare on her, "tell me how it is that he was influenced to leave."

"I-I," she stammered, unable to speak under his piercing gaze.

"Exactly," he yelled, "you! You were the one to dispatch him! You are no longer in need of my assistance! You defeated the enemy that I could not!"

"Mitsukai, I was jus - "

"No," he hissed, "I lost a wing in that battle. I was severely injured. The Gods be damned if I'm needed here anymore!" He stood up suddenly, looming over her, "I will request to be taken off this heinous mission, so I might live the rest of my meaningless existence in peace!"

With that he stormed out of the room, leaving a trail of dark red blood behind him.

`Oh, Mitsukai,' Amy moaned in her head, `why do you do this to yourself?'

She glanced that his once beautiful black wing lying in the corner before turning to follow Mitsukai.

Okay, that was planned…for the most part, anyways. Yeah, short chapter…well, at least short-ER… Anyways, thanks for the reviews and stuff… Umm…not much else to say, so I'll just let you all get on with your meaningless lives! ^_^ Have fun!

Happy Haunting,
